Problem with SP6 + IE + sendRedirect

Hello,
          We've had this problem with the sendRedirect method. Under IE (all versions
          we tested), a sendRedirect would take a considerable amount of time to
          actually perform the redirection; in fact the time it took was approximately
          equal to the KeepAliveTimeout setting within the httpd.conf file of our
          front end Apache webservers (Redhat 6.2 btw). We have two Apache servers in
          front of a cluster of two Weblogic 5.1 servers (SP6).
          Now the interesting thing is when we "downgraded" the mod_wl.so file back to
          the SP5 version, the problem disappeared. Obviously i'm not happy with
          running the SP5 version of the apache/weblogic bridge due to the various
          documented issues, so am wondering if a) anyone has seen this themselves,
          (b) got it working correctly under SP6, or c) when the hell is SP7 coming
          out. ;)
          thanks
          Carl

          Yes, I'm having this problem too with IE, i.e. taking some amount of time until
          redirection happens. But with Netscape, the redirect is fast, i.e. normal.
          I'm using Weblogic server 5.1 with SP9 (I tested with SP8 with the same result),
          Apache 1.3.12, Redhat 6.2, IE 5.0.
          When I captured the HTTP response from the server, the content-length header showed
          533. Actually the body of the response is nothing, just a line, I think. So I
          guess IE tried to receive all 533 bytes of content until the Keep alive timed
          out, after which it followed the redirection.
          I think this is a bug in Weblogic, it shouldn't spit out 533 bytes with no content.

  • Session problem on clustered sun fire with SP6.1

    Hi All,
    I am having a problem with a webapplication on a clustered system.
    In the following I describe the current system setup.
    I will then describe the setup of the web application.
    Following this, I explain the trouble I'm having with sharing sessions in this environment.
    Finally, I pose the key question.
    SYSTEM SETUP:
    Our group has a clustered server setup. I believe the two machines are Sun Fire systems running Solaris 9. Let me know if you need more information concerning the HW.
    To manage the cluster, we use Sun Cluster software. Let me know if you need to know the version number. I do not have it handy. We just recently setup the system (in the past 6 months).
    Also, we have the newest Sun Web Server installed 6.1. We used the default installation. The only thing we changed was the dynamicreloadinterval variable from "-1" to "60".
    WEB APPLICATION:
    We have a fairly simple MVC web application setup, which works well on a single-server system. Essentially, the web application (1) asks for a certain input via a webform, (2) takes this input, and uses it to get information from a database, (3) puts this information into a httpsession attribute, (4) redirects the response to a JSP. The JSP gets the httpsession attribute (populated in step 3) and prints it out.
    So, HTML with form posts to Servlet, Servlet gets data from database and populates a session attribute, JSP gets that session attribute and prints it out.
    Between each transition from HTML, Servlet and JSP, the currently processing server may switch. I.e. the HTML may be served, for instance, by ClusterServer1, the Servlet may be handled, for instance, by ClusterServer2, and the JSP may be served at random by either.
    THE TROUBLE I'M HAVING
    Sometimes, my JSP is able to find the session attribute and print out whatever I put into the session during the Servlet step. However, sometimes, the JSP will print out "null" (the session attribute isn't available to the JSP).
    For the HTML and the JSP, I have the page print out what server it is being served from. Thus, I can tell that the HTML is served from, for instance, ClusterServer1 while JSP is served from, for instance, ClusterServer2. Sometimes, the same server serves both.
    KEY QUESTIONS:
    Why would this be happening?
    How can I have a session stick to the user and be shared across both servers?
    What other information would you need to provide an answer concerning this issue?
    I appreciate your efforts very much!

    Hi All,
    Hi Elving,
    I read through the documentation and have the following questions:
    (1) It seems that I can share sessions amongst both servers if I
    configure the web server to store sessions in a persistant manner such as in a file or in a database. Is this correct?
    (2) To enable this persistent storage of a session, I would need to change the Session Manager used. Is this correct?
    (3) If yes, I have the choice between the following managers. Please correct me if I have misunderstood the options.
    - PersistentManager: Instead of securing session information
    in memory, this manager saves session information within
    a file on the server in a directory, which I specify within
    sun-web.xml
    - IWSSessionManager: With this manager, I can store sessions
    in a defined database or file on the server.
    - MMapSessionManager: This manager also stores sessions in
    a file on the server
    (4) What is the difference between PersistentManager and
    MMapSessionManager if my web server is running in
    single-process mode?
    (5) If MMapSessionManager is a file-based manager, where do I
    specify to what directory the related file is stored to as I
    do in PersistentManager?
    (6) What are the advantages and disadvantages of
    Persistent/IWS/MMap managers?
    (7) In looking at SessionManagers, am I even barking up
    the right tree? It seems like these would help me share
    sessions across clustered servers.
    (8) Finally, I guess my plan of action would be the following:
    -> Identify what session manager to use
    -> Include a sun-web.xml file in /WEB-INF containing
    the manager-specific info
    -> Reload my web application
    -> done...
    Is this correct?
    Elving, I appreciate your help. Thanks!

  • Form-based authentication problem with weblogic

    Hi Everyone,
    The following problem related to form-based authentication
    was posted one week ago and no reponse. Can someone give it
    a shot? One more thing is added here. When I try it on J2EE
    server and do the same thing, I didn't encounter this error
    message, and I am redirected to the homeage.
    Thanks.
    -John
    I am using weblogic5.1 and RDBMSRealm as the security realm. I am having the following problem with the form-based authentication login mechanism. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how to solve it?
    When I login my application and logout as normal procedure, it is OK. But if I login and use the browser's BACK button to back the login page and try to login as a new user, I got the following error message,
    "Form based authentication failed. Could not find session."
    When I check the LOG file, it gives me the following message,
    "Form based authentication failed. One of the following reasons could cause it: HTTP sessions are disabled. An old session ID was stored in the browser."
    Normally, if you login and want to relogin without logout first, it supposes to direct you to the existing user session. But I don't understand why it gave me this error. I also checked my property file, it appears that the HTTP sessions are enabled as follows,
    weblogic.httpd.session.enable=true

    Hi...
    Hehe... I actually did implement the way you implement it. My login.jsp actually checks if the user is authenticated. If yes, then it will forward it to the home page. On the other hand, I used ServletAuthentication to solve the problem mentioned by Cameron where Form Authentication Failed usually occurs for the first login attempt. I'm also getting this error occasionally. Using ServletAuthentication totally eliminates the occurence of this problem.
    I'm not using j_security_check anymore. ServletAuthentication does all the works. It also uses RDBMSRealm to authenticate the user. I think the biggest disadvantage I can see when using ServletAuthentication is that the requested resource will not be returned after authentication cause the page returned after authenticating the user is actually hard coded (for my case, it's the home.jsp)
    cheers...

    Hi Jerson,
    I tried your code this weekend, it didn't work in my case. But
    I solved my specific problem other way. The idea behind my problem is that the user tries to relogin when he already logs in. Therefore, I just redirect the user into another page when he is getting the login page by htting the BACK button, rather than reauthenticate the user as the way you did.
    But, I think your idea is very helpful if it could work. Problems such multiple concurrence logins can be solved by pre-processing.
    In your new code, you solved the problem with a new approach. I am just wondering, do you still implement it with your login.jsp file? In other word, your action in login.jsp is still "Authenticate"? Where do you put the URL "j_security_check"?
    Thanks.

    Hello guys...
    I've a solution but it doesn't work yet so I need your help. Because
    one
    of the reason for getting form base authentication failed is if an
    authenticated user tries to login again. For example, the one mentionedby
    John using the back button to go to the login page and when the user logsin
    again, this error occurs.
    So here's my solution
    Instead of submitting the page to j_security_check, submit it to a
    servlet
    which will check if the user is logged in or not. If yes, invalidates its
    session and forward it to j_security_check. But there's a problem in this
    solution, eventhough the session.invalidate() (which actually logs theuser
    out) is executed before forwarded to j_security_check, the user doesn't
    immediately logged out. How did I know this, because after calling
    session.invalidate, i tried calling request.RemoteUser() and it doesn't
    return null. So I'm still getting the error. What I want to ask you guyis
    how do I force logout before the j_security_check is called.
    here's the code I did which the login.jsp actually submits to
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Authenticate extends HttpServlet {
    public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponseresponse)
    throws ServletException, java.io.IOException {
    if (request.getRemoteUser() != null) {
    HttpSession session = request.getSession(false);
    System.out.println(session.isNew());
    session.invalidate();
    Cookie[] cookies = request.getCookies();
    for (int i = 0; i < cookies.length; i++) {
    cookies.setMaxAge(0);
    getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher("/j_security_check").forward(reques
    t, response);
    public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponseresponse)
    throws ServletException, java.io.IOException {
    doPost(request, response);
    let's help each other to solve this problem. thanks.

    2) It was not predictable, only seemed to occur at the first

    4) After researching the newsgroups, it appears that this "bug"
    may
    have gone away temporarily (?) in SP5 (although Jerson Chua

    I was able to reproduce it most often by deleting the tmpwar and
    tmp_deployments directories while the cluster was not running,
    then
    restarting the cluster. The first login attempt would fail(roughly
    90%

    proxy
    for a
    while (60 seconds?) -- meaning that the proxy would send all
    traffic,
    regardless of the number of "clients", to the other server in thecluster.
    As far as I can tell, it is a bug in WebLogic, and probably has

  • Viewing Excel Files using Tomcat - Problem with caching

    Hi all,
    A small part of an application I'm writing has links to Excel files for users to view/download. I'm currently using Tomcat v5 as the web/app server and have some very simple code (an example is shown below) which calls the excel file.
    <%@ page contentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" %>
    <%
    response.setHeader("Pragma", "no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control", "no-cache");
    response.setDateHeader("Expires", 0);
    response.sendRedirect("file1.xls");
    %>
    This all works except but I'm having one big problem.
    The xls file (file1.xls) is updated via a share on the server so each month, the xls file is overwritten with the same name but with different contents. I'm finding that when an update is made to the xls file and the user then attempts to view the new file in the browser they recieve only the old xls file. It's caching the xls file and I don't want it to. How can I fix this so that it automatically gives the user the new updated file.
    The only way I've managed to get Tomcat to do this is to delete the work directory and delete the file from my IE temp folder and then restart Tomcat - this is a bit much!
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I'd a problem with caching a few years back, for a servlet request which returned an SVG file.
    As a workaround, I ended up putting appending "#" and a timestamp / random number after it. The browser assuming each request was new, and didn't use the cache.
    Eg.
    http://myserver/returnSVG.do#1234567
    where 1234567 is a timestamp / random.
    Not sure whether you can do this on a file based URL... but maybe worth a shot...

    Owen

The application I am running is working absolutely fine, by creating a directory and saving the excel file in my webapps folder and inserting the data to the database. But the minute I send the file from client system, there is a sudden shutdown in my server.
    I am sending the jsp and java code related to this application and related log file..
    I guess the main problem is with sending the exact path from the remote client, rest all is fine including excel and database interactions.
    I commented the database interaction class just for now as I don't think there is a problem with it.
    I am using Tomcat 4.1, MySQL 3.23

    The VERY FIRST message in the server log gives you a hint as to what the problem might be. The server thinks you have spaces in your PATH to the application server. Therefore, the solution is to kill the server however you need to (task manager, whatever) and then reinstall it in a path that doesn't contain spaces. That's the low-hanging fruit here; if that doesn't work, well, then we will have to find some other solution.

  • Problem with EM (Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database)

    Hi all,
    I've Oracle DB 11g Rel.1 installed on Windows XP SP3. The database is up and running i.e. everyone can connect to the DB by using any App tool e.g. SQL*Plus, Forms, or Reports. It means that the listener and the service is running. But the problem is that when I try to start the EM I see some error messages on the webpage.
    It says:
    Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the database instance. The state of the components are listed below.Database Instance (Green arrow)
    Status     Open                         Details     The instance is open.

    please see the attached file:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/404840300/em.JPGI've already checked all the services, they are running. And when I execute emctl command I got the following message.
    emctl status dbconsole
    Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control Release 11.1.0.6.0
    Copyright (c) 1996, 2007 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    http://shiman:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
    Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g is running.I have checked some documents around config files in sysman and test_orcl\sysman directories. Moreover, I have checked dbsnmp and sysman account for unlockness and password accuracy. But they did not help me to solve the problem.
    My question is if every thing is working fine then what is the problem with the EM? Why it is not connecting to the DB?
    Thanks.
    Iman

  • Problem With Seeing Message in Adapter Engine

    Hello Everyone,
    We are facing a strange problem while running an <b>Integration Process</b>, <b>BPM</b> in PI. In the process, we are trying to read a .CSV File and convert it into a .XML File via FCC. The .CSV file is placed in the XI box itself, under a certain directory. We have configured the process such that whenever the .CSV file is read, its attributes are set to <b>'read only'</b>. After configuring the process, the required XML file did not show up. So we checked that whether the .CSV file was read and it showed up attributes of 'read only'.We cross checked
        -First by going to <b>SXMB_MONI</b>; here it said 'No messages available for selection'
        -Then by examining the 'channel monitoring' in AE; where we found both the sender and receiver channel are showing green. The sender channel first shows up that <b>'Processing started'</b> and then <b>'Processing Completed Successfully'.</b> The receiver channel does not show up any messages.
        -we checked for the XML messages that are in the Adapter in <b>IDX5</b>; it shows <b>'no messages selected'</b>.
        -We anticipated that it may be a cache problem and cleared all the caches; but when we tried to clear the Adapter Framework Cache, it popped up an authorization error and the problem persisted.
    We are using NW2004s with SP6 at the ABAP and BASIS stack and SP 9 at the Java Stack. Also, all the required connections made in SM59 are in order.
    Now, <b>What can be the problem? Is it the difference in SP level that is causing the problem? Or is it something else? What have we missed?</b> Guys, please help us solve this problem.
    Need Help. Pleae Reply. Points will be awarded.
    Thanking in anticipation.
    Amitabha

    Hi Shabarish,
    1.Document name <b>is indeed</b> the name of message type in our case.
    2. We did not use delete mode; but once the file was read- we manually changed its attributes from 'RA' to 'A'..and it became 'RA' again after 2 seconds; which is our polling interval.
    3. And we have discovered that the file is being read properly..because we can see the XML payload of it and it contains the correct data.But still it does neither show up in SXMB_MONI..nor in IDX5.
    <b>Can you please tell us what are the necessary roles for the User PIAFUSER?</b> We suspect that somewhere's an authorization error we are getting; because the AF cache refresh attempt shows "Forbidden" and we are getting an error in Tcode SXI_SHOW_MESSAGE as:
    <b>AE_DETAILS_GET_ERROR: no_adapter_engine_found: Unable to find Adapter Engine:</b>; Stack trace shows:<b>Error while reading access data (URL, user, password) for the Adapter Engine</b>

  • Performance problem with Orcacle / Crystal reports 8.5 / ASP

    Hi,
    I have a performance problem with reports running crystal reports 8.5 with oracle databases.
    Fetching data appears to be slow. Oracle trace reports (tkprof) shows that fetchsize=1.
    Fetchsize in Oracle ODBC is 15 (default).
    How can I update te fetchsize in crystal reports?
    I would appreciate any help.

  • Problem with Non JSF Request to JSF Page

    Hi All,
    I am working on dynamic controls generation based on the request come from non jsf page
    For the first request, pageworks perfectly. but when we go for second request, it is not rendering and I am getting same old page.
    What I have identified is if I have 2 pages as JSF, application is not giving any problem.
    For this I have written small test application contains both JSF pages only.
    page1 contains 3 submit buttons.
    When submit buttons are clicked based on the request, I get, am able to see the dynamic controls.
    SO there is no problem with JSF PAGE to JSF Page Communication
    Now I have done some changes in First JSF page. Instead of submitting directly I am submitting the page through JavaScript which is nonb JSF request. There I am facing the problem and based on requested qaction I am not able to see correct rendered page based on the requested action.
    Any Idea why it is giving problem for non JSF requests??
    Thanks
    Sudhakar

  • Problem with Instant Client 10.2 with ODBC and Studio 6.0

    Has anyone else had the issue of not being able to make a second connection after the first connection has been closed and the free HENV is called via the object distructor? What actually fails is the second time thru the SQLDriverConnect call returns -1. If the connection object is a global but close is still called it will work. So this leads me to believe the problem might be from the SQLFreeEnv call in the distructor.
    If I run test using the 10.1 Instant cleint it works fine. I have included some code that I use to test with below.
    I am using:
    XP Pro sp2
    Visual Studio 6.0 sp6
    Instant Client 10.2
    MDAC 3.51
    Oracle Server 10g

    For what it is worth, I am having a similar problem with an application I support. When I upgraded from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.3 to fix a performance problem, we now have this connection problem. If I can not get a good solution for the InstantClient I will have to start using the Full 10.2.0.3 Client and I am not looking forward to deploying that.

  • Problems with the ActiveX bridge for Java beans when using third-party .jar

    I encountered the following problem when using the ActiveX bridge for a java bean:
    I am using JDK 1.4.2_09 and MS Visual Basic 6.0 (SP6). I wrote a java bean called ProcessViewer (my class ProcessViewer inherits from JComponent and implements the interfaces Serializable and AdjustmentListener) which I would like to use within a VB 6.0 application. I used the ActiveX bridge (packager.exe) to generate a DLL (ProcessViewer.dll) and registered it successfully. The java bean GUI-control works fine within my VB 6.0 application unless my java bean (ProcessViewer.jar) uses any third-party .jar files.
    But when I tried to add a reference to some third-party class (com.sap.xxx.xxx....) I got some problems. I could solve the problem with packager.exe by setting the correct CLASSPATH. But at runtime my VB 6.0 application does not work. It crashes or it reports an error like this: "The control ... could not be loaded from axbridge.dll" (although I deployed my .jar file correctly to the directory C:\Programme\Java\j2re1.4.2_09\axbridge\bin and lib). Setting the CLASSPATH environment variable before calling my VB 6.0 application (exe) did not solve the problem.
    How can I teach my VB 6.0 application (containing the Java bean ActiveX control) where to find the third-party .jar file? Copying the third-party .jar file to the JRE lib-folder or to the axbridge\lib folder did not solve the problem either.
    I studied the documentation about the ActiveX bridge given at:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/beans/axbridge/developerguide/index.html
    but I am missing informations on how the third-party .jar files can be found during runtime of the ActiveX container (e. g. a VB 6.0 application).

    See how to solve your problem with JNI:

  • Problems with IE w/ Apache bridge

    We're recently switched over from IIS as our front end web server to Apache
    1.3.12. On our login page for one of our site using IE 4.x / 5.x, we've
    noticed this to be extremely slow (about 45 seconds) just to login. Once
    you login to the site, the site is very fast. However, this is not the case
    with Netscape (4.x/5.x). Netscape works fine all of the time and is very
    fast with Apache.
    Is there a known bug with IE?
    All our login page does is pass username & password parameters to the
    weblogic server.
    This site doesn't have any problems with Netscape, going directly to the WLS
    on the specified port, or when we used IIS. The only time this shows up is
    when a user would login. Once they're in, they're flying!
    This is only IE related. Is there some sort of odd setting in IE to hold up
    a form like this?
    Our config looks like this:
    Web server: Linux 7.0; Apache 1.3.12 + apache-linux-bridge-sp5
    Weblogic Server: Windows 2000, WLS 5.1, sp5

    Has anyone seen this before?

    Thanks for the help everyone, but BEA sent us a beta-version of the new
    proxy for Apache on LINUX. This fixed the problem, and should be fixed in
    the next service pack.

  • Re: nsapi problem with WL 4.5.2 no sp with iPlanet 4.0

              We are noticing the same problem with WL5.1, esp.
              I can replicate this by reducing the number of executeThreads
              within WebLogic to a very low number (say 5). It seems to
              me that there is a problem with the WebLogic proxy (NSAPI); it seems to be gettting into a state where it is not able to do handle connection startups/shutdowns in a graceful manner leaving IDLE connections.
              Any pointers would be appreciated.
