Problem with select range for a character type field. Kindly Help! Urgent!
Hi Experts,
I have to write a report to pull data from a table BUT000 for a selected range of BPEXT field values in selection screen.
In the table BUT000, the BPEXT field is type char. Now what is happening is that if the user gives a range in selection screen from 1000 to 1010 the query pulls all the records where teh forst character starts from 1.
For example if the table has
BPEXT
1
10
100
101
1000
1001
1002
1005
1010
20
200
2000
Then my query pulls
BPEXT
101
1000
1001
1002
1005
1010
Instead it should pull only
BPEXT
1000
1001
1002
1005
1010
My guess this is because the BPEXT field is of CHAR type instead of numeric.
What shall i do to solve this problem? Kindly help please!
Thanks
Gopal

Select option for a character type field
Hi all as per my requirement i have a selection for a data type char40
Hence in my wddoinit method i used the following code to generate the select options in WD
create a range table that consists of this new data element
LT_RANGE_TABLE = WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->CREATE_RANGE_TABLE( I_TYPENAME = 'CHAR40' ).
add a new field to the selection
WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->ADD_SELECTION_FIELD( I_ID = 'CHAR40'
IT_RESULT = LT_RANGE_TABLE I_READ_ONLY = READ_ONLY I_NO_INTERVALS = 'X').
The select option is properly displayed but "char" word is infront of the selection fields.
I want to remove this char word.
Can someone please advice me on this ?Hi
Modify the Add_selection_field call to add descrption for the field.
if you dont want anything pass space.
* add a new field to the selection
WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->ADD_SELECTION_FIELD(
I_ID = 'CHAR40'
IT_RESULT = LT_RANGE_TABLE
I_READ_ONLY = READ_ONLY
I_NO_INTERVALS = 'X'
I_DESCRIPTION = ' ' " whatever you pass here will come as a label to the field or we can say
" inplace of CHAR

I have an unresolved problem with unresponsive scripts despite the ed-meister's kind help
on approx.dec.10,the ed_meister emailed me answer 122359 and i took his advice and registered at informaction(noscript)forum.they were supposed ti email me a key to complete the registration but they never did so i subsequently uninstalled noscript.however,i continue to get error messages re unresponsive scripts that seem to be a payback,e.g.,
a.chrome://noscript/control/main.js.3722
b.file:///C:program%20files/mozilla%20/firefox/modules XPCOMutils.jsm:165
c.chrome://noscript/content/ABE.js:1216
d.file:///C:program%20files/mozilla%20firefox/components/NS

e.file:///C:program%20files/mozilla%20firefox/components/NS
BLOCKLIST SERVICES.js:648
f."script"chrome://saff/content/safplg.js.2864'
There are more but i'm just too tired.
on noscript's FAQ re whitelist,i was amazed to see that one can disable any item except chrome from whitelist because "firefox would not work without it because it is a priviliged pseudo-protocol used by firefox". I thought chrome was a rival browser to firefox!
but since chrome's daddy is google and they are the new microsoft
(the 800 lb.web gorilla),i get it that its best to play nice with them.
Look, i really don't care.i'm just an old dude who doesn't know crap about tech and just don't want these damn scripts to slow up my old pc any more than it is. i can't recall these problems before installing Noscript and can't get why i keep getting them even after uninstalling Noscript.Have they taken Firefox over?i have refused many requests to make chrome by default browser because i'm old school
and loyal but this really has me wondering.Can you resolve these problems for me or not?Ed-meister,if you read this,i'm not mad at you,pal.You are a gent and you did try to help.i'm grateful to you.I also have this problem and never had it before. This scripts that become non responsive and there are more than just this one, really really cripples my system to the point where I have to wait 5 minutes between clicks in the web browser... When is FireFox going to address this issue?
This is the error message I get: Script: file:///G:/Program%20Files/Mozilla%20Firefox/components/nsLoginManager.js:302 -
Problem with "SELECT...FOR UPDATE OF..." and "POST command" combination
Problem in committing transactions in Multiple Forms (Oracle Forms) with POST built-in command:
Consider that the following statements are written in WHEN-WINDOW-CLOSED trigger of a called form.
Statements in called form (Form name: FORM_CHILD):
go_block('display_block') ;
do_key('execute_query') ;
-- Data from table_b will be populated in this block, based on the value of COLUMN_1 obtained
-- from TABLE_A.
-- Example: If the value of COLUMN_1 is 10, then all the matching records from TABLE_B, which
-- are inserted with value 10 in TABLE_B.COLUMN_1 will be fetched and shown here.
if user_choice = 'YES' then
commit ;
else
rollback ;
end if ;
Statements in calling forms:
There are two calling forms having following statements and it is going to call the above said called form.
CALLING FORM 1
Statements in KEY-COMMIT trigger:
post;
call_form(form_child, no_activate) ;
Statements in ON-INSERT trigger:
select column_1
from table_a
for update of column_1
where column_2 = 'X' ;
update table_a
set column_1 = column_1 + 1
where column_2 = 'X' ;
insert into table_b ...;
insert into table_b ...; Statements in KEY-COMMIT trigger:
post;
call_form(form_child, no_activate) ;
CALLING FORM 2:
Statements in ON-INSERT trigger:
select column_1
from table_a
for update of column_1
where column_2 = 'X' ;
update table_a
set column_1 = column_1 + 1
where column_2 = 'X' ;
insert into table_b ...;
insert into table_b ...;
insert into table_b ...;
Our understanding:
Assume that both the forms are running from two different machines/instances, issuing commit at the same time. In this case, forms will start executing the statements written in ON-INSERT trigger, the moment POST command is executed. Though the commit is issued at the same time, according to oracle, only one of the request will be taken for processing first. Assume that calling form 1 is getting processed first.
So, it fetches the value available in COLUMN_1 of TABLE_A and locks the row from further select, update, etc. as SELECT...FOR UPDATE command is used (note that NOWAIT is not given, hence the lock will be released only when COMMIT or ROLLBACK happens) and proceed executing further INSERT statements. Because of the lock provided by the SELECT...FOR UPDATE command, the statements in calling form 2 will wait for the resource.
After executing the INSERT statements, the FORM_CHILD is called. The rows inserted in to TABLE_A will be queried and shown. The database changes will be committed when user closes the window (as COMMIT is issued in its WHEN-WINDOW-CLOSED trigger). Then the SELECT...FOR UPDATE lock will be released and calling form 2's statements will be executed.
Actual happenings or Mis-behavior:
Calling form 2 starts executing INSERT statements instead of waiting for SELECT...FOR UPDATE lock. Also, the value selected from TABLE_A.COLUMN_1 is same in both the calling forms, which is wrong.
The rows inserted into TABLE_B are having similar COLUMN_1 values in calling form 2 and they are fetched and shown in the called form FORM_CHILD.
Note that in calling form 2 also POST only is issued, but the changes posted there are accessible in calling form 1 also, which is wrong.
Kindly suggest us as to how to fix above problem. It will be much use, if you can send us the information regarding the behavior of Oracle Forms POST built-in also.
Our mail ID: [email protected]
Thanks a lot in advance.You have several problems:
1. On-Insert will ONLY run if you have created a new record in a base-table block. If you haven't done that, then the POST command will not cause it to run.
2. Select for update without a "no wait" will lock records for the first form, but when the second form tries this, it will hit the ORA-00054 exception, and will NOT wait. The only way you could make it wait is to issue an UPDATE sql command, which is not such a good way to go.
All POST does is issues SQL insert or update commands for any changes the user has made to records in a form's base-table blocks, without following with a Commit command.
Also understand that Commit is the same as Commit_Form, and Rollback is the same as Clear_Form. You should read up on these in the Forms help topics. -
Problem with selecting text in Adobe Reader XI
Hi all, I am encountering a problem with Adobe Reader XI and it is very strange I could not find an alike issue on the internet so I guess I have to submit a question with it.
So here it is, I am using Adobe Reader XI Version 11.0.2, operating system: Windows 7. I do not know it starts from when but it has the problem with selecting text - to be copied in pdf documents. I ensure that the documents are not scanned documents but word-based documents (or whatever you call it, sorry I cannot think of a proper name for it).
Normally, you will select the text/paragraph you want to copy and the text/paragraph will be highlighted, but the problem in this case that I cannot select the text/paragraph, the blinking pointer (| <-- blinking pointer) will just stays at the same location so I cannot select/highlight anything to be copied. It happens oftenly, not all the time but 90%.
This is very annoying as my work involves very much with copying text from pdf documents, I have to close the pdf file and then open it again so I can select the text but then after the first copying or second (if I am lucky), the problem happens again. For a few text I have to type it myself, for a paragraph I have to close all opening pdf documents and open again so I could select the paragraph to copy. I ran out of my patience for this, it causes trouble and extra time for me just to copying those texts from pdf documents. Does this problem happen to anyone and do you have a solution for this? I would much appreciate if you could help me out, thank you!Yeah, I totally agree, this is very strange. I have always been using Adobe Reader but this problem only occurred ~three months ago. It must be that some software newly installed I think. But I have no idea.
About your additional question, after selecting the texts and Ctrl + C, the texts are copied and nothing strange happens. It's just that right after I managed to copy the texts, it takes me a while to be able to select the texts again. For your information, I just tested to select the texts and then pressed Ctrl, the problem happened. And then I tried pressing C and then others letters, it all led to the problem.
I guess I have to stick with left-clicked + Copy until I/someone figure the source of this problem. Thanks a lot for your help! -
Problem with: select 'c' as X from dual
Problem with 'select 'c' as X from dual'
I get 2 different results when I execute the above with SQLPlus (or java) depending on the instance I am connected to. For one instance the result is a single character and for the other the character is padded with blanks to 32 chars in the SQLPlus window (and java). Does anyone know what database setting causes this to happen? Is it a version issue ?

If the databases are on different Oracle Homes you may want to check the sqlplus global logon files for any set commands.
If you executed the two sql statements from different OS directories you may also want to check your sqlpath for sqlplus .logon files.
Try issueing clear columns and repeating the statement. Are the results the same?

I have a problem with the indicator for power on the side of my HP DV6-1341el.
I have a problem with the indicator for power on the side of my HP DV6-1341el. Insert the adapter's power jack on the notebook in front of the LED battery charging works, windows detects that the battery is charged, but if I use the diagnostic programs, they tell me they found that the computer is running on battery power and not AC mode.
Where is the problem?
I have also made the maneuver for the recognition by the operating system of the battery and does not seem to be there the problem.
If I use the laptop without battery in AC mode happens that led to the side of the notebook blinks twice, three times and then goes off when I put the power jack.Go into the Device Manager. Expand the battery device, select the ACPI-Compliant Battery Control Method device, right-click it and select uninstall. After you have done that, right-click any device in the Device Manager and select scan for hardware changes. Your operating system will reinstall the ACPI-Compliant Battery Control Method device.
Post your results whether they are negative or positive to keep us posted.

Hi, did anybody had already problems with the CS5.5 Design Premium Suite on OSX Lion? I purchased the software as a Volume licenced product recently and everything was working fine, until since few days my Indesign and Illustrator keep crashing on launch. I de-installed and re-installed the entire CS5 Suite on my iMac, but Indesign and Illustrator still keep on crashing while launching. I already rang the Adobe tech support but they are not very helpful at all... Its quite frustrating.
No problems here with CS5. After I upgraded to Lion I did update to 5.5 and still did not experience any problems. There are some handy articlles on Adobe's web site relating to compatability with Lion, but I have experienced none. Have you checked the third party plug-ins in Illustrator and InDesign for compatability if you have any installed?

Seperate no range for same doc type in 2 co codes
Hi,
I have created two company codes 1000 & 2000.
Under 1000 I've EOU plant 1111 & under 2000 I've domestic plant 2222.
Now, I've created PO document types. I've assigned no range to them.
But I want to use the same document type for both the plants but with different range(say 1100..00 for plant 1111 & 220000..00).
Is it possible?
Last option is to create seperate doc type for each plant, but I don't want to do that.
Guide me on this.
Thanks & Regards,
PiyushFor the same document type for two different company code you can create two different number range.
IN Spro-mm-Purchasing Purchase order document type -- enter the number range for the document type
Eg
Company code Doctype number range
AAA NB 1000-1010
BBB NB 2000-2010

Number range for the Material type
Hi,
When I am trying to create the number range for the Material Type, when I choose the groups the following error has occurred
No elements exist for the object/sub-object
What may be the problem
Thanks in advanceHi Binu,
Had similar issue lately.
This is happening as the download of the category is not done properly.
So the solution which wrkd for me was to dwld the content again correctly, and if its done, there'll be no such error shootin up.

I have been a loyal customer for years and have a hot spot because internet options are very limited in our rural area. I have stayed with 10G since the beginning. Most months I don't use the 10G. Verizon has no problem with me paying for Data I don't use. This month my daughter comes home from College and she accidentally uses 24G.....14 over get blind sided with $140.00 in overages. I called Verizon today......stopped in to the store today......My neighbor told me they waved charges for her one time. Lots of charges.....But I'm am getting no help. Not even an offer of a payment plan to help me out. I went back just 6 months and I have over paid for 19G.....Seems like they would like to help out their loyal customers!!!! Does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with them? We are not wealthy....or I would just pay this and walk away......
There is a big misconception in what customers believe a cell carrier is obligated to do.
You pay a set price to use up to that amount of xx data. It makes no difference if you use it to the paid limit or way under. Its like peace of mind when you don't have to worry about a data counter.
Your daughter used the data, your plan is quite clear of what overage charges are. Why should or would Verizon wireless just forgive the charges because you are a customer? Your daughter used the data, get the money from her. That is the responsible thing to do.
There is no "I have been a loyal customer so please remove the $120, or $250, or $2,000.00 since I did not mean to use it"
Your electric company, or gas company or any other company does not remove valid charges. Why should Verizon wireless?
Just pay the invoice and don't think you are being mistreated because Verizon is a business and not a charity.
Good Luck
