Problem With Speed

Hi, I have a problem with my download speed. Before (couple months ago) my connection was just fine and my download speed was 2.3MB/s (Speed Before) and now my download speed the fastest it goes is 400KB/s mainly 300+ (Speed Now), so what may be the cause? And does the old broadband box 1.0 affect the speed in any way and can I change it to a newer one?

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Avoid the WD files completely, not needed & often a problem.
You need to erase the Drive, & to use it on both Format it MS-DOS/FAT32, on the Mac or PC, but will have a 4 GB filesize limit, as well as other limitations.
One option not mentioned yet is MacDrive for your PCs... allows them to Read/Write & Format HFS+, so no need to reformat it...

Aironet 1261 AP Problem with speed.

Hi guys,
I appreciate I am not Cisco trained and probably should have never purchased such a piece of kit, but my SMB run from home needed stability so I thought I would try to enter the world of Cisco.
I have spent the week setting up the Aironet AP 1261, Standalone, Power through traditional adapter, 2.4ghz only. 1261 being single band.
I have researched each setting and option as much as possible but I am still only getting 65mbps max, I believe I should be able to achieve 144mbps with this hardware. Is that correct?
I have used a combination of the web interface and IOS via Telnet. (being a server administrator using SSH, Telnet was ok for me to pick up quickly).
I understand I need WAPv2, with AES CCM Encryption on an Open Security network in order to achieve the speed I am after. These are all applied as far as I can tell.
WMM is the problem for me. (Also a requirement I understand). The thing is I have found WMM in two locations.
1. Under the Network interface setup, which seems to related to the World Mode Management. (off, legacy and dot11d).
2. WMM is also Wifi MultiMedia. Which is on.
I can only choose Legacy for the WMM in place 1 I mentioned, as the Country Codes are not populated which means I am unable to select dot11d.
Any help appreciated getting me to 144mbps.
If you also spot anything else dodgy with my amateur attempt of the config I love to know

The HTC one is an 802.11ac device with a single spatial stream. In order to get faster than 72Mbps you need to use wider channels which are only available in 5Ghz.
If you had a 1262, you could set the dot11radio 1 to 40Mhz channel and that would enable 144. Moving to 802.11ac you can go to 80Mhz channels for even faster rates.
Since you have a 2.4Ghz only AP, you will be limited to 72 with this client.

Having problem with speed of podcast ios5

I have just noticed this morning when I started to listening to a podcast on my ipad 1 64gb 3g with IOS5 that now it only play in 1/2 speed and the control to affect the speed (like in the past 1/2 - 1X - 2X ) is no longer visible.
This is a serious problem, i usually listen to my podcast a 2X so listening at half the speed is painful and useless.
Any work around to at least put them in normal speed?

Was i've remember is that the feature is also ( or was) offered in audiobooks, the problem is that i don't have an audiobook in my ipad at this moment and it seem we can get all the music we purchased from the cloud right now, but not the audiobooks.
I'll have to wait to be back home to test this. If i can affect the speed of an audio book maybe the speed will "stick" and will stay identical to it when i play back a podcast.
Let's just hope.

Problem with speed change in Twixtor Pro

Using Twixtor 5.0 and After Effects CS6, and I'm struggling with a situation where keyframing the Speed% change causes the slow frames to freeze for several frames at a time.
What works:
Drop clip into new comp
Enable Time-remaping, and extend the length of the comp to a good minute or so longer than source clip
Add Twixtor Pro to clip layer (appears to behave the same if you drop this comp into another clip and apply to that)
Set frame rate to match comp's (and clips)
Set speed% to something low, like 5.
Clip plays back nice and smooth and slow, every frame is interpolated.
What doesn't work:
Repeat above steps... up to 5
Set a keyframe for speed% to 1000
Advance playhead ahead a second, set another keyframe to maintain speed
Move several frames, set keyframe for speed% to 5
When I playback the clip, after the last speed change, instead of nice smooth motion, I get a still frame, then several identical frames, then it jumps again to the next incremental frame, and so on – with NO smooth interpolated frames. The result, as you can guess, is quite jerky.
If you trash all the keyframes and just leave the speed change to 5, it plays totally smooth. Which is just great, except for the fact I want to actually animate it.
Has anyone encountered this?
In the meantime as a backup, I'm using Timewarp, but I would love to sort this out.

Hi Rick, I appreciate your persistence to help. That's definitely another way to use the plugin which I've never used in the past, but does eliminate the need to enable time-remapping. Certainly not as common as the majority of the tutorials out there, including Re:Vision's own.
For the sake of argument I tried this approach, but unfortunately the problem persists. Out of curiosity, were there specific problems you avoided by using the solid method vs applying directly to the footage?
If I can dig up my serial numbers I will install the CS6 update as instructed. I'll definitely update this post if I get any positive results.
UPDATE:
I'm pleased to say upgrading to 5.1.5 fixed the problem!

Export Problems with Speed/Duration

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to working with video and i'm learning Premiere CS5 at the moment.
I've imported my video, rendered scenes from Cinema4d and composited in After Effects.
I exported at PAL DV 720x576 25fps.
Anyhow, i've brought it into Premiere and added a soundtrack and have been playing around with cuts and
changing the speed and duration of some parts and reversing other sections.
I've exported it using the Mov - PAL DV Widescreen option and all was fine until about the 6th or 7th
export test. Now all of a sudden the parts of the movie that have speed changes or time changes are
coloured blue? They look like they're negative for some reason?
I've done some tests exporting directly as H.264 and things seem ok.
I've even created a new sequence using the same video and did a reverse and time change on it
and it exports fine.
I can't understand what the problem is. The preview is fine but now even the .Mov icon is blue! lol
Any advice please guys?

Problem with speed using ODP and DataReader

We are developing an application that uses an Oracle database and are having problems trying to optiomise some of the query handling.
The application is written in C#, using Visual Studio, .NET 1.1, ODP 11g, and connects to a 10gR2 database with Locator extensions.
Below is a typical example of the problems we are encountering.
The stored procedure "GET_POLYGONS_IN_AREA" retrieves an ID, a StyleID and the geometry data for all polygons in the area specified by the input paramaters.
The Explain Plan for this shows that the query (when returning about 4000 polygons) should take about 0.4 secs.
(we have improved things by using better indexes or indexed clusters, but this is insignificant compared to the problem below)
Using SQL Developer, the query does indeed typically return under half a second.
However, when trying to access the results via .NET using the OracleDataProvider, things are very different.
The code snippet below calls the stored procedure and uses an OracleDataReader to retrieve the results.
The call to the first read() is timed and the result output, along with the value for the timing returned by the Oracle procedure.
The result is that the same region typically returns:
Time in Oracle: <0.5 secs, Time for the dr.read(): 5 secs!
This performance level is clearly not what we need.
We have inserted the suggested technique for obtaining the rowsize of the ref cursor (which returns 80).
However, adjusting the fetchsize makes almost no difference - even a value of 10000000 still gives the time for the rd.read() over 4 secs.
Help!
Why is dr.read() taking soooo long when the Oracle query does not and, more importantly, how can we speed this up or get round it so we can get good performance?

A few remarks:
1. You fetch 4000 polygons but we don't know how many points these polygons have on average so it is hard to judge if 5 seconds is long or short.
2. You use a variable tableCursor SYS_REFCURSOR in PL/SQL proc and you do

I think you can delete tableCursor and you can simply do:

The use of variable tableCursos is unnecessary.
3. It is hard to tell from your results whether the fetching is slow or the query is slow?
Your measurement is skewed.I don't know how you measured the time that sql developer takes to fetch all rows? Normally sql developer doesn't fetch all the rows.
You should create an extra table dummypolygon and do insert into dummypolygon .. select ... where ..sdo_relate... . Now you can measure how long it takes to fetch the 4000 polygons by selecting from this table:
select * from dummypolygon
How long does this take in ODP.NET?
4. Maybe you can speed up the query by using a hint

Be aware, using sdo_filter instead of sdo_relate will give slightly different results but sdo_filter is faster.

Problem with speed after adding external html "template

I created nice looking html "template" for my site in program Aristeer 2. Basicly it created 3 files for me- *.HTML (about 10kb) *.CSS(avout 25kb) and *.js(javascript about 7kb). I was thinking that it will work perfectly ,when i will just define new dreamweaver site and open the html file in my Dreamweaver CS3.
problem is,that everything ,what i want to do,in this site takes enormly long time...if i just click to open my html file,it takes about 2 minutes to open it,later,when am trying to delete some picture,delete some text,add some ApDiv,create table etc,it takes really a lot of time to do it...
am just wondering why,cos am still working with ,lets say,small files,so where is the problem?
can please somebody help me how to fix it? (when i open another site,that i designed all by Dreamweaver CS3,there is no problem like that....)

I have no idea what the problem is. I did download your page and I have no idea how you can even work with that file in DW. Every time I moved my cursor, the elements either disappeared or reappeared as I moved over the page.
Looks like every element on that page has been placed inside an absolutely positioned div which may or may not account for the 'slowness'..
I did notice a lag (slowness) with the mouse movement - but once I managed to get open a content container, I did paste some text into it but it was all very slow.
I' put it down to the way the page has been created honestly. Even though it validates and no errors were found, that really is not the best way to create a web page. (sorry). I realise YOU did not create it, it was an automated process - I'd stay well away from it in future :-)

Creating forms having problem with speed

OK maybe this jsut isn't possible.
In am creating a form from a .doc file It is a physicians patient management form. First, this thing isn't small. it's 22 pages and ubelievably large amounts of entry fields.
I had to do a bunhc, but one data set bothered me so i left it for last.... now.. yuck.
This is simply a table. on the left is a column for dates. ech row is a new date. each column is a different item. In the boxes there is a plus or minus sign on the doc. So i figured the best replacement would be a radio group. 2 each for each entry.
Here's the problem. That's 14 columns and 20 rows. ech column has two radio buttons. so we're talking 560 buttons. I'm not even half way through and it's slowing down so bad I am constantly crashing and can't manage this. I have in the neighborhood of 250. now, the only logical way i could figure to do this quickly was to make a set. I can't use a default size because the form is oddly built. i have to use very smal radio buttons. Instead of plus minus I'm coloring them red/green. I created two buttons, so one group. but i can't figure out how to duplicate and increment that set. i tried holding the control button when copying then hitting the '+' key but it did not increment. it left two new radio buttons in the same group. couldn't figure out wht to do so i just built it all off that one set of buttons, and am trying to go back in and rename each set to make them unique. but it is SO slow and unmangeable I can't get through it. not even half way and it take around 45 seconds to 1 minute to complete the copying, another 30 to 45 seconds to bring up the property box (PER BUTTON) and then another 20 seconds to finish when i manually increment the groups.
there has to be a better way than this. can anyone give me a recommendation? i'm attaching a pic of some of the fields so you can see what i was trying to do but this just isn't going to work. i even extracted just this page from the worksheet, and it doesn't make a diff. there are so many buttons it's killing it. But this can;'t be that unusual, i could do this in 10 minutes in html. there has to be a good way to do it with a pdf?

Problem with speed dial

Just picked up my iPhone 5 and noticed an existing speed dial from my favorites is not working properly.
My speed dial contains a 10 digit phone number, a 10 digit access code, and a 5 digit password all separated by commas. When activated from my favorites the phone number dials perfectly but the 10 digit access code, and a 5 digit password dials very slowly and my system does not recognize the entries.
I deleted the favorite from my contacts and re entered it with the same result. Even re installed ios 6 but no help.
This feature worked perfectly on my iphone 4.
Any ideas your help would be greatly appreciated.

Just went to a Verizon store and conducted a test. I used an iPhone 4S and a iPhone 5 both running ios 6. The 4s dialed a programmed speed dial containing an access phone number, a access number and a password. It worked flawlessly. Ran the same series of numbers on the iPhone 5 (not mine) and it failed miserably.
I hope that apple can provide a fix for us speed dialers. It's quite annoying.

Annoying problem with speed change tools in FC7

I have a clip that is 8 seconds long. Halfway into the clip I want to slow down and freeze on the end frame. How do I do this?

This is trickier than it could be.
Double-click the clip in the Timeline to load the clip in the Viewer.
Click on the Motion tab and open the Speed area (Time Remap in FCP6).
Move to half-way through your clip.
Click the Insert/Delete Keyframe button to create a new keyframe.
Press the right arrow to move forward one frame and press the button again to create a second keyframe.
Right-click that second keyframe in the keyframe graph and choose Smooth. You may need to zoom in (command-plus) to get the right one.
Press the down arrow to jump to the end of your clip and press the Insert/Delete Keyframe button a third time to create a new keyframe at the end of the clip.
In the keyframe graph, drag this final keyframe down a little. The curve should dip to a flat line to indicate a freeze frame. You may need to tweak the bezier handle on the second keyframe to adjust the speed ramp.
This feature isn't new, and for complex tasks it's still better than the new speed tool in FCP7. If you find it confusing, remember that horizontal movement takes you through the sequence and vertical movement takes you through the clip. If the line goes up, left to right, it's going forward. Down, left to right, is backward. Steeper lines (relatively speaking, because zooming changes angles) are faster, and a flat line is a freeze frame.

Problem with speed of long title

I am helping a friend with a project. At the end of the movie he wants to add around 70 lines of text to present a summary of the project. I cannot figure out how to get the scrolling to slow down enough so that it would be readable. Any suggestions? Is there a way to present the text in a slide format similar to powerpoint? you're form the Microsoft/Windows world, aren't you, a socalled switcher?
On PCs in many cases , a MS Office package is preinstalled. not so in the world of Apple; plus, we Mac-user prefer to use apps, what they were meant for. PP is a presentation tool, a slideshow maker so to say NOT a layout app. many PC user do so. I've seen people (mis)using Excel (=spreadsheet calculator) as a "drawing colorful boxes" layout app
So, on a Mac, to produce a picture, a jpeg, I would recommend to use a drawing tool as in Appleworks, or a designated layout app as Pages/iWork, both pre-installed (as a demo) on many Macs. or, GraphicConverter or, for the richer ones (cheaper as MS Office) Photoshop Elements, a very powerful drawing tool a very good combo with editing tools as iM or FCE
sure, for doing some text charts, you can use ANY app, even textedit, and with some clicks you produce an jpg or pict out of it - Quciktime is a very powerful system compound, doing marvelous convertings
for long rolling credits, use the mentioned "long credits app"
besides: to do frame-by-frame titles, you can do use the iM internal titles, no need to import single jpegs from a slideshow maker

L675 Problems with speed and HD R/W

My L675 is running very slowly and locking up on drive reads/writes.
Do you think the Hitachi 500 GB drive is bad? I'm running a boot virus scan now.

The drive can be bad or failing even when no errors are found on hard drive test.

Javascript image slideshow - problems with speeding up!

I have set it so the images and message changes every 11 seconds, however if you stay on the page for a little while it will get faster and faster and go berserk!
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be?

It's happening on ff and IE7 and also my client's browser which I believe to be IE7.
