Probleme wifi lion OSX

Hello,
I read on several forums that lion OSX had problems with wifi connection.
I still hesitate to invest in OSX lion because of these problems.
I wonder if these problems are solved before investing in OSX Lion ...
Excuse my English, I'm french ...
cordiall

Hello, the only problem I had with WI-FI on Lion is when I restart the computer, or when I put it to sleep. The "problem" is that Lion will "see" your default WI-FI in about 30 seconds or so. If you want this to be quicker, you just have to click on the WI-FI icon and choose a specific network.
If you have a laptop, other thing should be important to you when jumping to Lion:
a smaller battery authonomy (from up to 4 hours with Snow Leopard, now I only have 2:30 hours with Lion)
the system is not as responsive as it was before update (for example I have to wait between 6 to 10 seconds in order to see the widgets).
I have to mention I do not have a SSD HDD. If you have a SSD it should not be a problem...

• How can I fix problems after Lion OSX install?

Just a couple of weeks after installing Lion, I am now experienceing the following problems:
Tremendous slowdown in system use without any obvious reason
I can't upload videos directly from iMovie to YouTube. It completes the upload, but I never see the video on the YouTube site, even after several days!
I can't change my Desktop background. Whether I attempt from my pictures folder, or using System Preferences, after I highlight the picture I want to change to, nothing happens

Try reinstalling:
Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

• Wifi problem with the Lion OSX

Like many others i am facing the problem of connectivity with the Lion OSX. In my room i have 2 macbook pro, one running on Lion and the other on Leopard. The problem arises with the wifi. The one with the Lion seem to get a stronger signal when both of them are placed side by side but drops out quickly. This does not happen with the MBP running on leopard.
I have tried turning on and off the wifi. It does not help. At times it gets connected but nothing comes on. Other times it shows the "the connection timeout" error.
I do hope that Apple solves the problem soon as it is clearly a OS related problem.
Eagerly waiting for the update.

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

• Fix for Airport Wireless Connection Problem stating Self-Assigned IP and not wanting to connect in Lion OSX.

Fix for Airport Wireless Connection Problem stating Self-Assigned IP and not wanting to connect in Lion OSX.
Bought my girlfriend the newest Macbook Pro 13" and began experiencing problems with my wifi the moment we got home. Her Macbook would not connect to our home Wi-Fi while my old Macbook Late 2008 running Snow Leopard connected without a problem. Airport would say that it had a Self-Assigned IP address (168.x.x.x). Did not realize it was a Lion problem until after using her Macbook Pro and becoming jealous of the new OSX, I upgraded. Soon after I was unable to go online. Luckily I had my iPad 2 and I began to scoure the net for help. Ran into allot of suggestions but it was not until I tried the following all together was I able to share the good new, from my Macbook. Hope this works:
First go to Preferences > Network and click on the cog next to the + and - on the sidebar and click Set Service Order
- Move Wi-Fi to the top and click ok.
- Set location to Automatic
- Click Apply
- Click Advanced
- Click the "-" on the selected Wi-Fi router you wish to connect to
- Click Apply
- Click Lock to Prevent Further Changes
Go to your Mac's harddrive, (Macintosh)
- Go to Library > Preferences > SystemConfiguration >
- Delete "com.apple.airport.preferences.plist" file
Turn off your computer
- push and hold Option+Command+R+P
- turn on computer
- when the grey screen turns on you will hear the OS X "ON" sound (for lack of a proper term) and it will momentarily restart.
- you will once again hear the "ON" sound, let go of all keys.
- this resets your PRAM
Go to Preferences > Network > Advanced > + sign
- click Choose a Network
- Select your network and enter password
Viola!!! I tried this on my Macbook Late 2008 and my girlfriends new Macbook Pro 2010

No you are clearly mistaken. The Self-Assigned IP address problem exists on many Macbook Pro models, including the current model, which I mentioned as being the original computer with the problem. While my 2008 Macbook is older it was working perfectly on Snow Leopard and didn't suffer issues until switching to Lion. So clearly the problem exists on the operating system and not so much the hardware.
I called Apple Support and they had no fix for the problem and told me that this would hopefully be addressed in a subsequent update. It wasn't until I came accross the answer after trying many different methods that I got both of the Macbooks to connect to my router. Otherwise I wouldn't or could not have been surfing the internet for the last 4 months.
Cheers.

• I have the following problem: "no se pueden descargar los componentes adicionales necesarios para instalar mac os x" How I can install LION OSX from a hard storage (HD, PenDrive)?

After more than 10 times i have the folowwing error "no se pueden descargar los componentes adicionales necesarios para instalar mac os x" when I try to REINSTALL LION OSX to faftory reset while WiFi. I try in 3 differents routers and nathing change. Can I install from a hard copy in a DVD, HD, PenDrive?? Can I download LION OSX and install without WiFi?
My MacBook Air is new one, come with LION but I want to reset to factory default, but I can't.
Thanks.

• I up graded to Lion OsX and when I configured my POP account, it says is null and with the same configuration in my Macbook I have no problem at all, what can I do?

That issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

What model of Mac? I have a MBP running 10.7.3 and do not have that issue. From the other couple of posts I've seen about it, it seems to be maybe an issue with some iMacs? Have your tried searching the Lion or iMac forums for similar issues, just to see if anyone has hit on why it is happening?

• Mountain lion osx wifi keeps turning to "off" setting by itself.

Mountain lion osx wifi keeps turning to the "off" setting by itself and when I try to turn it back on again it doesn't change from "off" to "on" Any ideas about whats wrong? The only way I can solve it is by restarting the macbook.
I have a macbook pro
2.53 ghz intel core 2 duo
8gb memory

You are running a pretty old version of the OS if your information is correct above and there have been quite a few improvements to the WiFi systems in recent releases.
You may want to try to reinstall the OS. If that does not work you may consider upgrading the OS.

• Lion OSX Finder problems

I just upgraded to Lion OSX on my Macbook Pro. Everything seems to be working ok but Finder has changed quite a bit... For instance the Mac HD link that allows you to access the entire HD not just a specific folder is gone and the search feature doesn't work for me AT ALL! I type in a file name (or even just a part of) and the screen goes blank! It's stops thinking after a second or two and it doesn't find anything. I even tried searching for .avi but it came up with nothing, yet when I go into my specific folder the .avi file is right there.
Have anyone else had this problem? How do I fix this?? I can't find files that I need!

I have since contacted the genius bar at the Apple store and they determined I had a "bad install" of Lion and there was nothing I could have done differently, it just happened. So I had to back up my files, wipe the hard drive and do a clean install. I actually chose to go back to Snow Leopard because there were a few programs that no longer work with Lion (rediculous!!!!). The good thing is Apple refunded me the $30 I spent on Lion. If you're having problems, go see the genius bar and they'll help.

• Is there any way to solve the wifi problem with lion?

Since upgrading to lion my iMac has been having severe problems connecting to my wifi router. As long as it doesn't go to sleep it is fine, but if it does then I have to restart the computer to connect to the router. I know that it is lion as I've got 2 iphones, 2 ipads, and 2 laptops in the house all operating without problems. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried contacting apple and they won't help me unless I pay them, or sign up for apple care. I already paid for the **** computer and the OS why would I pay them to address an issue that is clearly on their end when my computer is still under warranty?

There's a number of things you can do to try to diagnose the problem, and hopefully it doesn't have to do with a hardware problem.
I think the number one reason people are having problems with Lion is because most of the installations are UPGRADES, not CLEAN installs. While it's much less of a hassle for an upgrade rather than a clean install, weird and random problems can arise from an upgrade to an OS.
Another reason is the fact that this is a dot zero release, meaning it's version 10.7.0, meaning there are bugs that have not been fixed yet.
So the first thing you can do is to repair permissions in Disk Utility and restart your Mac. I don't think that will exactly fix the problem, but it's a step.
When it's restarted, wait a few minutes and put it to sleep and wake it up and report back.

• Mountain Lion OSx. Big problems following upgrade

i have just installed mountain lion OSx as an upgrade on MacBook Early 2009. Now various apps don't work e.g. iPhoto, iWork. Also Safari keeps crashing. Should I try to unistall and go back to my old reliable OS or try to sort it out as a complete novice ? All help greatly appreciated.

Back up all data.
Boot in safe mode.* This will cause certain caches maintained by the system to be rebuilt. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
Safe mode is much slower to boot than normal.
When the login screen appears, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, proceed as below.
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then drag or copy into the Terminal window — do not type — and press return:
sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
Reboot and test.

• Lion OSX installment problems.

I want to upgrade my MBP into Lion OSX, I am concerning that how I could keep my iPhoto Library, iTunes Library as well as iCal and AddressBook information. Plz, anyone can give me some tips.
Otherwise, if I do not install this Lion OS, then just waiting for the next advanced OS which will be launched (perhaps in the next 2 year) after Lion OS. Is it still possible for me to upgrade at that time. Because, I found that there are some innovated figures which are not really efficient and inconvient to me as well.
And so on, my MBP is MC 374, therefore I wonder that with installing Lion could slow dowm my Mac a bit?
Thanks for any helps.

Installing a new Mac OS does not affect your user data.
The others I can't help you with. Only note that the current OS, Lion, requires the previous OS (Snow Leopard) to be installed. You can apparently get around that with the USB installer which costs more than purchasing the two OS's separately.
If you don't think the features of Lion are useful to you, then don't install it.

• Lion OSX problem

Since installing Lion OSX, my Mac Office software (i. e. Power Point, Word, Excel) and other programs are launching without prompts. How can I stop this?

Lion resume opens any apps that were open when last you shutdown.
In addition to the Sys Pref > General 'restore windows when quitting apps etc'' there is also the check box on the closing dialog box that defaults to checked (reopen windows when logging back in). Make sure this is NOT checked.
There is an all-embracing fix that prevents all apps opening on restart:
Shut down all apps. Not just close windows but actively quit everything.
Open a finder window.
On the Go tab press and hold option key, and folder called 'Library' will become visible.
Choose 'Preferences' > 'ByHost' and you will see a bunch of files.
Choose com.apple.loginwindow.XXXXX.plist (xxx is a seemingly random series of letters/numbers)
Right click and 'Get Info'
You will see details of the file together with the option to 'Lock'. Check this box.
This file is responsible for collecting details of which apps are open, and for instigating their relaunch when you start up again. By locking it with no apps open, it will remain so every time you boot up.
Thanks to Softwater for the fix.

• Can't drag and drop files between spaces in lion osx

since upgrading to lion osx, i've noticed that i can't drag a pic, for example, from safari and drop it into a chat box in ichat. used to drag pics, web addresses, text, etc across spaces all the time in snow leopard but i don't seem to be able to do it in lion. does anyone else have this problem or am i missing something?

You have many issues with your and your wife's machine(s). Everything you've posted works here. Reinstall Snow Leopard, repair permissions, and see if that fixes things.
