Problems assigning values via F4 or search help

Hello
After a system copy and upgrade we are having one main problem.(EBP 3 -> SRM 4)
In all the attributes that have F4 search help function module based. The match-code appear wuth values but when you select a different value, this is not changed in the field. it is not taken into account
For example with attribute buk. (module function BBP_GET_ATTR_COMPANY).
anybody knows why this behaviour

One more question:
Which is the event triggered when a row/entry is selected in F4 help pop-up?
How can we catch that event and code some logic in that event so that, we can get multiple attributes of the selcted row?

Field values are repeating for search help.

Hello Friends.
I have a problem. When I create a search help for a field the identical field values are repeating. What should I do to trigger only the first time.
for example:
Field-name- field-value
Supplier Nr --- Commodity
5001 -
 casting
5002 -
 casting
5003 -
 casting
So when I create the search help for commodity it is showing 'casting' 3 times in a pop-up window. It should not repeat. Can you please give me the solution what should I do?

Standard Search Help
The input help (F4 help) is a standard function of the R/3 System. It permits the user to display a list of possible values for a screen field. A value can be directly copied to an input field by list selection.
The fields having an input help are shown in the R/3 System by the input help key to the right of the field. This key appears as soon as the cursor is positioned on the corresponding screen field. The help can be started either by clicking on this screen element or with function key F4.
If the number of possible entries for a field is very large, you can limit the set of displayed values by entering further restrictions.
Further meaningful information about the displayed values is included in the display of possible entries, especially if the field requires that a formal key be entered.
TYPES OF SEARCH HELPS
Elementary search helps
Describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
Collective search help
Combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
Search Help Interface
Search help interface determines how the exchange of values between the screen template and the selection method is implemented.
The search help interface defines the context data that can be used in the input help and the data that can be returned to the input mask. Analogously to the interface of a function module, the search help interface comprises interface parameters.
When you define an interface parameter of a search help, you must also define whether it should be used to copy data to the input help (IMPORT parameter) or whether it should be used to return data from the input help (EXPORT parameter). A parameter of a search help can also have both attributes at the same time.
The location from which the IMPORT parameters of a search help get their values and the screen fields in which the contents of the EXPORT parameters of the search help are returned are defined in the search help attachment. The search help itself should always be attached to an EXPORT parameter of the search help. If this parameter is also the IMPORT parameter, its contents are only used in the input help if it is a search string (that is, if it contains a ´*´ or a ´+´).
You must define the parameter types of a search help. You can do this by assigning them data elements.
Value Transport for Input Helps
NOTE:In the above example, screen fields A, B and C are linked with parameters of the search help. As a result, values can only be transported between the screen and the search help for these three fields. Existing contents of screen fields A and B can be used for selecting the hit list since they are linked with an import parameter of the search help. The values of parameters A and C can be returned to the screen from the hit list since these parameters are declared as export parameters of the search help.
Description of dialog behavior
A hit list might contain plentiful number of entries. A
dialog provides the user with an option to restrict the
entries displayed on the hit list.
In an input help process, the set of possible entries is presented in the dialog box as a list for displaying the hit list. The user selects the required value from this list by double clicking. Since the possible entries are often formal keys, you must be able to display further explanatory information about the possible entries in the list.
If the set of possible entries is very large, the user should be able to define additional conditions for the attributes of the selected entry. Restricting the set of data in this way both increases the clarity of the list and reduces the system load. Additional conditions can be entered in a further dialog window, the dialog box for restricting values.
Specifying the dialog type of a search help defines whether the dialog box for restricting values should be offered and if so under what conditions.
The attributes in the dialog box for displaying the hit list or in the dialog box for restricting values must be defined as internal parameters of the search help. An internal parameter can also be used in only one of the two dialog boxes. It can also belong to the search help interface.
The internal parameter types are also defined with data elements. These data elements define how the parameters are displayed in the two dialog boxes.

How can I to obtain the value selected in a search help?

Hi Gurus,
I have a search help and it has a "search help exit" (a FM).
At FM search help exit I am calling the standard FM RHF4_RFC_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST to another system ( assigning the corresponding "destination" ).
The FM RHF4_RFC_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST display a screen where the search is done. When a field is selected returns the values in the internal table RETURN_TAB.
At FM search help exit I assign the selected value ( in RETURN_TAB ) to internal table's field RECORD_TAB-STRING.
The search help is assigned to a table field and when I want to obtain a value through search help in SM30 transaction, the screen created by FM RHF4_RFC_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST appears, but when I select a value, this is not "copy" to the table field.
In what am I wrong? What am I omitting?

Probably you are not mapping the right fields from source to destination structures.
plz check RETURN_TAB-STRING(this is an example) assigned to RECORD_TAB-STRING.
put a break point at this line and check.

Window freezes when Product category selected via match-code (search help)

Hello Experts,
I am using SRM 7.0 Extended Classic Scenario.
I maintained a product category hierarchy in the SRM environment.
I maintained the GL Accounts related, the tax determination, the source system etc.
I did all this customizing in a Development environment where everything was working fine.
Now I just transported all this to a Quality environment.
And in the Quality I am facing the following issue :
If I select a product category via the match-code (search help), after the category is selected, the window freezes.
I have to shut it down manually using the Windows Close button.
However, when I type the category number, everything works fine.
Do you have any idea what could be causing this issue, and how to fix it ?

We have the exact same issue in SRM 7.0 Extented Classic Scenario. This was working fine before we installed the latest support package 11. Which support package do you have?
The same problem occurs with every drop down menu (search help) in EBP. For example when creating a new shopping cart, if I try to add approver, the same thing happens. After clicking 'Approval Process: Display / Edit Agents' > 'Add Approver', the window freezes. Same thing happens with IE8 and Firefox 3.6.13. Could you also try the same?
Could it be a new bug in SP11?

MIGO: Searching batches via classes using search help MCH1 (incl. SH MCH1C)

Hello everyone,
I have a strange issue in MIGO on our Development server, and was wondering if anyone else had ever encountered similar problems.
In MIGO, when we choose "Goods issue", and "Other", we enter the material number, plant and storage location. After pressing ENTER, the "Batch" tab appears allowing us to enter the batch. Now, searching for the batch creates a problem, and here is the process:
1. Press F4 on the "Batch" field - this envokes the Search help procedure.
2. Enter the class and the class type on the next screen and press ENTER. A subscreen appears with the class characteristics.
3. Without filling out any of the characteristics, press "Find in initial class" button.
In the bottom part of the screen, the system creates a split to display the results in a form of ALV list, BUT no results are ever displayed.
Here is another piece of information which might be useful. The version of the DEV installation is ECC 6.0, and the patch level for Logistics and Accounting is SAPKH60009. The patch level of the corresponding IDES system is SAPKH60006, and in the IDES system we have no problems with this search through MIGO.
This tells me that there might be a problem caused by the upgrade - but that's not sure, and that's why I ask if anyone else had run into such an issue.
I am an ABAPer, so I approached this problem first by comparing the search helps of the two versions. The collective SHelp is MCH1, but searching batches via classes uses the elementary SHelp MCH1C. I found some differences in the elementary SHelps' function exits, these are included in the SAP note 1020405, and have no effect on the functionality. I even tried "downgrading", and using the search help from IDES, but still got no results. I decided that this was not causing the problem.
Can anybody suggest what might be the cause of the problem? Our MM people tell me there is no customizing for this process, and that it worked on IDES from the very beginning without any problems.

Multiple return values in Customized elementary search help

Hello,
I have a requirement when i select the value from F4 . It should populate the more than one return values in ALV grid in different rows .
Any FM or help search exit is available to do this .

Hi Kevin,
About your first question, for filling several fields of an ALV from a single F4 search help, I think that you should register F4 event to call the search help yourself (F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST for instance), and fill the ALV fields inside your F4 handler method. If you used REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY, then I am not sure how you can handle F4, but you can do it using CL_GUI_ALV_GRID or SALV classes. See BCALV_TEST_GRID_F4_HELP.
About the second question, for filling automatically another field in the same row in the ALV grid, it should work automatically, as for normal dynpros, i.e. the search help must have these 2 fields defined as exporting, and these 2 fields of the ALV field catalog must refer to the same DDic structure, the search help must be assigned there to the field, and fill in the 2 exporting parameters too.

Getting values from screen to search help exit

I have created a search help in which I am not using selection method but search help exit. Dialog type is 'Dialog with value restriction'. My requirement is to get the values entered in restriction screen into search help exit. Please suggest a parameter which will hold this value in search help exit function module.

As you know there are 5 steps in search help exit. For each step, the values in parameter of your search help exit is different.
For your requirement, you need process in step 'DISP', and get the selection value from 'SHLP-SELOPT'.
Example:
*Build range for customer number
LOOP AT shlp-selopt INTO ls_selopt WHERE shlpfield = 'KUNNR'.
lr_kunnr-sign = ls_selopt-sign.
lr_kunnr-option = ls_selopt-option.
lr_kunnr-low = ls_selopt-low.
lr_kunnr-high = ls_selopt-high.
APPEND lr_kunnr.
CLEAR: lr_kunnr.
ENDLOOP.
Then using the lr_kunnr range in your select statement.

How to copy the corresponding values other fields in Search help

Hi All,
My selection screen contains 5 fields. three are obligatory parameters, one date field and one select option.
All are from the same table . I had created search help for one field .
when I'll click the hit list of the search help I want the corresponding values to get copied to other fields in the selection screen, as my hit list contain values for all those fields.
How Can I copy those values.
Please help me on this.

The thing is that there is a function module that according to the user name, and a material number, it tells wheter the user has permission to see the material or not.
It is possible to use that function module to restrict the values of the search help?

1. If the function module is not much complex then copy the same Functionmodule into your custom name ,...
Then you would have the control at your end,,,,
2. If the funciton module is very complex then fetch the data manually and create a custom f4 help ... to fetch the data use the similar logic of the function module so that data does not get deleted.

Problems with focus on a "Dictionary Search Help"

I think I have a more specific problem depending on accessibility.
the problem is, when the dsh comes up it isn't accessable via the tab key at least not with the first 50 "tab-pressings". can i set a focus to the dsh? it's a big issue for visually impaired persons

I can't reproduce your problem. I just tried it with a standard Web Dynpro dsh for a businnes partner input field, and there I get to the first input field for selection after the 6th "tab-pressing".

How to build search help for company code (BUK) in SRM

Hello,
I am new to SRM and was wondering if any have come across similar requirement. I am a workflow developer and we are building a custom table to derive deadline escalation timelines. We are also adding a field in our custom table for company code so that we can have company specific deadlines. table T001 is empty in SRM and hence we are unable to use F4 (search help). Is there existing functionality in SRM that gets this search from the backend ECC system and displays when F4 is pressed. How can I use that functinoality?

BBP_LOCMAP (Mapping Table Business Partner --> System --> Location)
Try creating a custom search help based on this Table, defined as selection method and assign the same to the related field.

Problem with custom search help for std SD_DEBI

I have created a custom zcustom search help and included in std search help SD_DEBI.
In the custom serach help i have added the fields ktokd and sales area fields(sales org, Disb channel, division).
now when i goto va01 transaction and hit F4 for sold to party i was able view the KTOKD and sales area fields in the custom tab
when i select the values from f4 help and hit enter they are not getting displayed in sold to party field.
when i select only sales area fields from f4 and press enter they are getting displayed in sold to party field.
problem is with the ktokd field that i have included.
Any suggestions please let me know

I think you have missed parameter assignment from your Z append search help to standard search help.
Select the search help and click on Param Assignment button and assign the refernece parameter(KUNNR) of your
append search help to std collective search help (KUNNR).

Custom Field in Account Assignment with search help functionality..

the data for search help read from R/3.. When i click the search help in WEB , I got an error message saying that 'No input help available ( Search help PRCTR_EMPTY is empty )
Any one have found this kind if issue?

Hi
You can create a custom search help (simialar to R/3 srch help for profit center) and create a corresponding search help exit for this purpose.
You need to call the R/3 table from SRM to get the required data and then map the data in to the search help fields.

(Urgent) Sorting search help values in Web Report

Hello Friends,
We have a web report which uses a variable made on 0CALMONTH. The order of display of values for this variable search help is 02/2004, 03/2004, 01/2005, 07/2006, 08/2006, 05/2007. In this order we have the latest date (05/2007) displayed at the end of the list. What we want is that the values in the search help of 0CALMONTH should be displayed in the reverse order i.e. latest date first (05/2007, 08/2006, 07/2006... etc).

If u display the report in Internet Explorer there you can see differnet buttons like
Save View, Book mark, Variable Screen etc...There click Save View give tech name and descryption. After Sorting use this in WAD instead selecting query , select this view and execute.

Search Help values are transferred only on first use

Hello,
I've an alv grid from which when I select a record and clicks a button, a second window with another alv grid is launched. In this second alv, 3 fields are attached to the same Search Help so that when I select a valuefor one of the fields, the two other fields are populated with the corresponding values from the selected record. All three values are in the search help selection. This works just fine.
The problem is, when I close the second window and select another or even same record from the first grid, the two other fields do not get populated anymore in the second alv grid using the same search help.
How may this issue be resolve?

Hi,
I have a search help for the field.
Where i have written Search Help Exit for the that field.
Where for the 1st field company code is considered for selecting the values.
But for the 2nd field Company code is not considered for selecting the values.
Hence it is defaultly selecting the values.
