Problems connecting to Oracle 11g R1 RAC

Hi everybody
In my factory we hava a web aplication called Matrix one that is connected to an oracle database 11g. This aplication uses Weblogic 9.2.3 to load the web pages. Until now we had an oracle running in one server, but now we have put an oracle rac system. The application works fine with this new situatin, but there ar parts of the system that don´t work. We have made our own applicatons that use thin jdbc driver to connect to database, but now when we connected to the rac sometimes the connection is established well but most of times the conecction failed. The error that weblogic returns is "connection refused".
I´ve modified the startweblogic.cmd to use the las jdbc driver but the result is the same. My connection is the folloowing:
Connection conn = null;
String cadenaConexion = "";
try{
OracleDataSource ods = new OracleDataSource();
ods.setUser(user);
ods.setPassword(Pass);
cadenaConexion = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION=";
cadenaConexion = cadenaConexion + "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=" + Server1 +")(PORT=1521))";
cadenaConexion = cadenaConexion + "(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=" + Server2 +")(PORT=1521))";
cadenaConexion = cadenaConexion + "(LOAD_BALANCE=on)";
cadenaConexion = cadenaConexion + "(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=dedicated)(SERVICE_NAME="+Service_Name+")";
cadenaConexion = cadenaConexion + "(FAILOVER_MODE=(TYPE=Select)(METHOD=basic)(RETRIES=180)(DELAY=5))))";
ods.setURL(cadenaConexion);
return con;
}catch (Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();
return (null);
This is my startWeblogic.cmd:

I´ve tried to use the Oci driver but then the error is diferent "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc9 in java.library.path".
I´ve red a lot of messages in forums but >I haven´t found the solution.
Anybody could help me please?
Thanks in advance
Sorry for my English.

I´ve tried to use the Oci driver but then the error is diferent "java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc9 in java.library.path".OCI requires a Oracle shared library (nothing to do with java.)
returns is "connection refused".Which suggests a network problem. Given that you have added at least one new box to your network, how it was added would be the problem. Such as if a network infrastructure box is having an intermittent failure.

  • Need to connect to Oracle 11g using PI 7.1 JDBC adapter

    Hi All,
    I am trying to configure a JDBC adapter to connect Oracle 11g. For this I need to know the driver,jar and connection URL details.
    Can anyone please provide the above information?
    Please correct me if my details are wrong :
    JDBC Driver : oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    JAR : ojdbc5.jar
    URL : jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:ora11i
    Regards,

    Yes i knew how to deploy the jars using SDA.
    I will try to deploy the above jar (ojdbc5.jar ) and try to connect to Oracle 11g with URL & Driver classname.
    If I face any problem then i will get  back to you.

  • How to connect to Oracle 11g using thin driver with service name & SID

    Hi Experts,
    Wish to know whether there is a common way to connect to Oracle 11g server using SID or service name.
    Earlier I used jdbc:oracle:thin:@<<server>:<<port>>:<<SID>> for connecting to individual Oracle server instances.
    Now I need to connect to Oracle RAC which provides service names. So I need to use jdbc:oracle:thin:@<<server>:<<port>>/<<service name>>.
    This connection string is internally constructed by a program and user inputs <<server>>, <<port>> and <<SID>> or <<Service Name>>. Now this requires two different connection strings based on the input whether its SID or service name.
    Is there a common connection string for these two? Based on some articles like this, I understood that we can generically use jdbc:oracle:thin:@<<server>:<<port>>/<<service>>, whether for SID and service.
    When I tried this format with SID, I am getting the below error. What I tried is jdbc:oracle:thin:@myoracleserver:1521/ORCL, where ORCL is the SID
    java.sql.SQLException: Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12514, TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
    Request your help in solving this. What I want is a single connection string whether its SID or service. Any help is of great value.

    Oracle has an entire book for JDBC: The JDBC Developer Guide.
    There are chapters that provide ALL of the connection properties and the rules for creating connection urls.

  • Performance problems on a Oracle 11G with Windows 2008 64bits.

    Hi everyone,
    I have noticed that our db is going low and low every week. My server has 16GB RAM and 10GB are dedicated to the Oracle database, this is a 11.2.0.1 with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64bits. I like to know acording to the nexts values what you guys recommend to adjust in the init.ora:
    orcl.__db_cache_size=5402263552
    orcl.__java_pool_size=33554432
    orcl.__large_pool_size=33554432
    orcl.__pga_aggregate_target=3657433088
    orcl.__sga_target=6878658560
    orcl.__shared_io_pool_size=0
    orcl.__shared_pool_size=1308622848
    orcl.__streams_pool_size=33554432
    *.memory_target=10511974400
    *.open_cursors=5000
    *.optimizer_mode='RULE'
    *.processes=300
    Acording to the memory target on how values can be increased the processes, pga_agregate_target, etc.
    Also we have problems related to the bug Bug 9593134 that “Connections to Oracle 11g are slow and can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes.” there is a fix on linux by removing the dns names on it but anyone have experience on windows platforms?
    Thanks for all and sorry for my english.
    Regards.
    Arturo.

    Regarding the long connection times, have you tried using network packet capture software (such as Wireshark) to determine what the client computer is doing when a connection attempt is initiated?
    The Oracle Database time model statistics, along with the system wide wait events may help you diagnose the non-connection related performance issues (you should not just look at the statistics, but instead capture the current values, wait a period of time, capture the statistics again, and compare the changes in the statistic values). A statspack report might also help you - but a 10046 trace at level 8 or 12 is more appropriate if you are able to identify a couple of sessions that experience performance problems.
    I do not suggest just blindly modifying parameters, although I am curious to know:
    * Why the session level parameter OPEN_CURSORS is set to 5000 - do you expect a single session to hold open 5,000 cursors?
    * Why are you using the deprecated RULE based optimizer?
    * Why is the MEMORY_TARGET parameter used when the SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE target are specified?

  • Failover not working while connecting to Oracle 11g database

    Hi,
    We have a J2EE application that connects to Oracle 11g database.
    The connection URL we are using is as below
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@(DESCRIPTION =(SDU=32768)(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=abc.hostname.com)(PORT=1525))(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST= xyz.hostname.com)(PORT=1525))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=PQR)))
    The issue that we are facing is, the database failover is not working.The application only connects to the first host in the TNS entry.Evertime there is a failure in the connection to the first host,manual steps are required to swap the hosts.
    This started happening after we upgraded Oracle DB from 9i to 11g.
    We are using the client jar of 9i to connect to 11g. Could this be causing the problem?
    Thanks In Advance.

    Yes, you are right. Nothing else was updated.
    The application still works as expected except the failover.If you are correct then I seriously doubt it has anything to do with java. It would be something to do with Oracle and/or network infrastructure.
    If not then it is some small problem with the driver. You can try updating the driver but I wouldn't expect a fix.

  • Oracle 10g client connect to oracle 11g server

    Hi All,
    In my system, i have installed oracle 11g server(11.1.0.6.0). while i try to connect to this server by 10g client in my friends system,which is in the same network,it is showing
    ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist,
    then i tried with other system (using oracle10g client), its showing
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    then i tried with one another system (using oracle 9i client) -- its is connected.
    what may be the problem. not connecting using oracle 10g client. and also different error.

    user12479258 wrote:
    Hi,
    The client version is 10.2.0.1
    this version may not be connect to oracle 11g?
    If so then which are the client version will connect to oracle11g server(11.1.0.6.0).A 10.2 client will connect to an 11.x database, but the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files must be configured correctly. The errors you reported are not uncommon and have been diagnosed repeatedly on this forum. Let's not confuse the issue by comparing / copying files from various machines, as that has already created a moving target of error messages.
    On the client that is exhibiting the problem ...
    Do you have a single ORACLE_HOME? A single TNSNAMES.ORA?
    On that machine, at a command prompt, do a tnsping on the service in question. Also try to connect with sqlplus. Copy the entire session -- commands and results -- and paste it all back here.
    On the server machine, log on as the owner of the oracle software, and at a command prompt enter the command "lsnrctl status". Again, Copy the entire session -- commands and results -- and paste it all back here.

  • Unable to connect to Oracle 11g server using instantclient_11_1 in AIX

    Hi,
    I downloaded instantclient-basic-11.1.0.7.0-aix-ppc64.zip from oracle site and used the same for connection to 11g server for testing my application on AIX 5.3 machine. I am also using easysoft driver for the connection. But I am uhnable to connect to Oracle 11g server from AIX 5.3 using instantclient_11_1 client
    libraries. I get the error "Could not load oracle libraries". Error is as below:
    WARNING: Setup was unable to contact your ORACLE
    WARNING: server by using the connection options
    WARNING: you specified.
    WARNING: Error connecting to DB: -1
    WARNING: HY000: [unixODBC][Easysoft][Oracle]Could not load oracle libraries
    But I could connect to the same server from AIX 5.3 machine using instantclient_10_2 libraries and same eaysoft drivers successfully.
    Looks like there is issue with connecting with instantclient_11_1 client libraries from AIX 5.3. I also tried with using 11.1.0.6.0. Same issue is observed.
    Did anybody else face similar issue?
    Thanks and Regards,

    I you find nobody who has the same problem, here are some hints:
    - Try to connect using "sqlplus" from the instant client. If that fails, there is probably a problem with your setup.
    - Look if the Easysoft driver supports Oracle 11.1 as client.

    Hi
    I am trying to connect to Oracle 11g database on Weblogic 6.1 server.
    First of all i would like to know if this is compatible?
    The environement that i have is this
    1. JDK 1.3
    2. Database 11g is on remote system
    3. Oracle client on my local system ( Connecting to the 11g DB through the client works fine)
    4. Weblogic server 6.1
    5. Currently the application is connected to Oracle 10g DB and working fine(We are attempting to move it to 11g)
    Below are the steps that i followed to create the connection:
    1. Made an entry for the datasource in config.xml under <WLS_DOMAIN>/config folder as below
    <JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
    MaxCapacity="4" Name="CADConnectionPool"
    Properties="user=abc_proxy;password=proxy_abc;dll=ocijdbc8;protocol=thin"

    TestConnectionsOnRelease="true" TestConnectionsOnReserve="true"
    TestTableName="dual" URL="jdbc:oracle:thin:@gen11t-ora.db.lab.xyz.com:1530:GEN11T"/>
    2. Restarted the server.
    3. Ran the application and get the following error on the server console:

    Would like some help on this asap as the project is in critical stage.
    Thanks

    The driver being used by your weblogic is too old and incompatible with the DBMS. Upgrade the driver.

  • Oracle 11g R2 RAC on vmware

    Hi All,
    I have read many blogs and article about installing Oracle 11g R2 RAC on vmware. For self learning process what should be minimum configuration of hardware.
    Minimum physical memory will be 8 GB what is minumum processor required ( 2 Cores / 4 Threads) or ( 4 Cores / 8 Threads)?
    Native operating system will be Windows 7 64 bit.
    Thx.

    You wouldn't be doing much with the processors so it won' t matter hugely having a dual or quad core. As long as there is sufficient RAM(like 8gig) , you should be fine. Try to get SSD if you want more faster performance from the machine in terms of IO.

  • Can Oracle 8.0.6 reports connects to Oracle 11g Database

    Hi,
    I know Oracle 8.0.6 report is already out of support. I want to build some environement. In this context, I want to know, where Oracle Reports 8.0.6 can connect to Oracle 11g R2 database ?
    Pl suggest me urgently.
    thanks & regards
    parag

    First of all: using the word 'urgently' is inappropriate and rude in a forum of volunteers.
    Edit your post and apologize publicly for using it.
    Secondly your question is a rhetorical one, as it's answer is:
    OF COURSE NOT
    8.0.6
    was succeeded by
    8.1.5
    8.1.6
    8.1.7
    9.0.1
    9.2.0
    10.1.0
    10.2.0
    11.0.1
    11.0.2
    NINE releases in between!!!

  • Error connecting to Oracle 11g Database

    Hi All
    I am testing .NET connectivity to Oracle 11g and I am not successful for a while.
    I've tried to connect to database using library included in Oracle 10.2.0.3 Client and as a result I've got "invalid username or password" error. Then I've tried to use ORAC 11.1.0.5.10beta. I successfully connected to the server, but when I try to exec any query my program hangs.
    Both of them work correctly with Oracle 9i database.
    Also I've tried Microsoft .NET provider and it connects and executes queries fine (though 3 times slower).
    How do you think what is reason or how can I find the reason?

  • Snapshot standby database in oracle 11g r2 RAC

    Folks,
    i am just wondering if the process is same for standalone and RAC snapshot standby database.
    We have a DR test
    1 / I just converted the standalone DR on 11g to snapshot standby database for users to do some testing and reverted back to physical standby after test was done. i folllowed metalink note ID 443720.1
    2/ now there is anotherDR test where we have 2 node prod and 2 node DR on oracle 11g rel2 RAC, so not sure we can follow the same process that i used for 11g standalone database. If somebody have done this on RAC, would you please provide the steps ?
    Thanks in advance

    I haven't done a Snapshot Standby (RAC or non-RAC). But I see no reason why it shouldn't work with a RAC Standby either.
    The command is a Database level command, not an Instance level command.
