Problems Customizing Business Components

Hello, I have BC4T aplication, and i want to customize it. I have created a new extended entity from the old ones, and his view, the problem is I don4t know if I could inset new rows, because always says me that the view is read only and it doesn4t, i supose that if is extended i can4t insert new rows?
Can anyone help me and tell how can i do to solve the problem?
Thanks.

You can insert new rows into the extended View Object or a View Object created on top of extended entity.
Make sure that the entity is not marked as Read Only.
select the extended view object and right mouse on that to select edit view object
In the Entity tab make sure that the Read Only check box is not selected.

  • Problem on Business Components

    Hi,
    i repost this problem because i didn't succeed on resolev it. See below :
    Business Components: Unable to find referenced object
    Object: easyges.commercial.eos.affaires.
    Owner: easyges.eos.GdaDemandeAffectationPFk1Assoc2
    BC Project: easyges.view.ViewController
    This appears in he message log window on opening the application.
    What can i do to correct this issue?
    Thanks for any help,
    DAVID

    Sounds like the association GdaDemandeAffectationPFk1Assoc2 references an invalid (missing, renamed) Entity Object. Open the association file in the Source view and observe for warnings/errors indicators - these are the yellow/red indicators on the scroll bar. Alternatively selecting View | Status should produce a "No issues".

  • Jdev11g;Customizing Business Components Error Messages

    Hi All,
    Using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.2. I have customized the BC error message using message bundle. My message bundle class is
    public class MessageBundle1 extends ListResourceBundle {
    private static final Object[][] sMessageStrings =
    new String[][] {
    { "JBO-26048","Child records exist against selected record " },

    { "JOB_ID_PK","Job ID already exsist"}
    /**Return String Identifiers and corresponding Messages in a two-dimensional array.
    protected Object[][] getContents() {
    return sMessageStrings;
    Need help on couple of questions/issues I am facing on this:-
    1) Though I have given the error message for JBO-25013 and JOB_ID_PK, still I am getting following error message on UI , when saving the new record
    "Too many objects match the primary key oracle.jbo.Key[AD_PRES ]."?
    2) Why I am getting "Attribute JobId in HrModule.JobsView1 is required." along with above error message in the error popup window?
    3) When deleting the record, though I am getiing desired error message on UI "oracle.jbo.DMLConstraintException: Child records exist against selected record ", why error message is prefixed with "oracle.jbo.DMLConstraintException".?
    4) How I can localize the error messages to another language?
    Thanks

    There is surely a section in the Fusion Developer's Guide on custom error/exception handling. Have you found it? Perhaps you have since you are considering overriding view/model framework objects.
    In JDev 10g there was very good documentation for how to do this in the ADF Developer's Guide. As far as I could tell, the equivalent manuals are the Fusion Developer Guides for ADF 11g. I think you will have a lot of luck getting what you want if you research this a bit more.
    In ADF 10g, what you are alluding to certainly was the solution to what you wanted. I do not know a whole lot about version 11g, but I suspect it is similar in this regard.
    in 10g this process started with overriding the ADF life-cycle.
    Once you get this working I also found some on-line commentary/articles from Avrom Roy-Federman on how to additionally extend error handling.
    All this said, you also seem to be asking some other questions (jobid and such), the solutions of which would require us to have more information about your application, I think.
    Maybe you can take one question at a time? Or start multiple threads?

  • BC4J: Debugging Business Components

    In have to debug some customized business components. So far I did deploy them to a local OC4J instance, and used the JDeveloper remote debugger, to debug them. This works fine.
    The only problem is, that it takes about 2 to 4 Minutes to deploy the BC. To gain development speed I thought, I use a local configuration, running the client (Tester/Business Component Browser) and the business component itself in the same VM.
    How do I start or configure the tester (Business Component Browser), so that it runs in the debugger, to debug my business components?
    I did not find any documentation on this.

    Here's what you do:
    [list=1]
    [*]Expand the node in the navigator for your application module
    This should show you the YourAppmoduleNameImpl.java file.
    [*]Select "Debug" from the right-mouse menu on this java file.
    [list]
    That's it. :-)
    This will start the BC4J tester in debug mode.

  • JDev10.1.2: Importing business components problem

    Hi guys, I hope someone could help me here:
    I have a business components project; from it I created a business components archive (deployment profile), and this profile generates two jar files. One jar file contains the business components and the other one just contains the application modules' interfaces.
    Then I imported the business components into another model project (in another workspace) from the jar files using File / Import / Business Components and selecting the package's xml file.
    Then I have a third View project which will have bindings to the last model project. The problem is that in the Data Control Palette the application modules appear with no interface methods (just Commit and Rollback).
    What should I do to make the View project's Data Control Palette aware of the application modules' interface methods so I can bind them to Data Actions?
    Thanks very much!

  • Business Components Import problem

    Hi,
    I am having trouble using the Imports option in the Project Properties of my Model project (Project Properties -> Business Components -> Imports). I have a jar that I want to import to the project. However, when I click the Import button, locate my file and click Open, nothing happens. It doesn't import the jar, nor does it close the Import File dialog.
    Is this a bug? I am able to get around it for now by modifying the Model.jpr and Model.jpx files but this isn't a long term solution.
    Thanks,
    Tracy

    If you are attempting to import ADF BC objects packaged in a jar/adflib this is a known issue in the preview that has been resolved in more recent builds.

  • Business Components Performance

    We have big client server app that we are planning to migrate to Business Components and Java App. Has anybody suffered performance problems? Is it ok to migrate?

    Type of Deployment? Fat Client? ( Java running in JVM on desktop with Swing? )
    Startup times can be a bear. Particularly if you have lots of tables and lookup tables. Uh...persistent entity objects.
    My current startup runs from 22 seconds ( NT/128MB/PIII-500) to 210 seconds ( W98/32MB/PI-133)... Depending upon app size, recommended a minimum of 64MB real memory committed to the application. As usual, your mileage will vary.
    Once it gets running I've not seen performance problems, but your mileage will vary according to:
    1. How good the SQL is
    2. How well the database is tuned
    3. Hardware on client
    4. Hardware on server
    5. Whether you do everything on the client, or have extensive stored functions and procedures to perform business tasks
    grin Frankly, since we're replacing a custom legacy application, the resulting executable leaves the old app in the dust ( despite Java, bc4j, jdbc and all )
    I am also starting to investing JAR optimizers and native EXE converters. Again, if anyone is further along than me on this I'd appreciate any input.

  • Does ADF Business Components  work well with tables without primary Key?

    We have tables using unique index without primary key. Can ADF Business Components relate business objects based on the unique index columns of the tables?

    Hi,
    Regarding my question about the XML syntax for custom properties:
    It turned out to be another problem in the Entity object definition that caused the JDeveloper error. Other entities let me add the custom property without problems. However should anybody ever need that XML syntax, here's how you add a custom property to an entity definition in the XML code:
      <Attribute
        Name="Id"
        IsNotNull="true"
        Precision="10"
        Scale="0"
        ColumnName="ID"

        ColumnType="NUMBER"
        SQLType="NUMERIC"
        TableName="TABLE"
        PrimaryKey="true">

  • Sharing business components across projects

    i have created a project in jdeveloper that contains all my required entity and view objects. this project has been placed on a central machine. during the development phase, all the team members need to use the same project and make changes to the entity/ view objects. but the changes made by one are overwritten when the same project is saved by the other member. is there any way to get around this problem.
    also, i created an entity and view object on one machine and copied the xml and java files to another machine. here i tried to include them in a new project but got errors and was unable to do so. what are the steps to be followed to include existing entity/view objects in a new project.

  • How do I apply programmatic skins for completely custom drawn components of a Flex library project?

    Hello folks,
    I am looking for best practices advice when (1) creating
    custom components and (2) styling and skinning.
    I already know how to skin a component part of the Flex
    framework. I can make a class extending ProgrammaticSkin and have
    my component skinned using CSS to link the component with the
    reference to my custom class.
    However what about those cases when you are completely
    creating a component from scratch?
    Imagine a "Freehand Drawing Canvas" component that allows the
    user to draw on it and has some buttons to set color styles, line
    styles, etc., or imagine a "Screen Flow Gallery" component that
    displays visual objects in a fashion similar to Cover Flow in the
    Mac.
    In many components I am aware you may reuse other components
    part of the Flex framework but I am trying to picture an scenario
    where you would need to draw everything yourself because there just
    isn't something to base it upon so you will end up drawing it from
    scratch.
    To learn how instead of building one of those components I
    mentioned previously I decided to start with something simple that
    would illustrate this like a LiteButton component that will behave
    just like the Flex mx.controls.Button but will extend UIComponent
    and be completely custom drawn.
    The component will have a default look and will also be
    style-able and skin-able. I will provide styles for users of the
    component to modify and regarding skinning anyone can create a
    custom ProgrammaticSkin adding its own drawing logic and link it to
    the component via CSS with the ClassReference applied to the skin
    selector.
    So far so good and it's clear what I want to achieve. I
    actually know how to do most of the stuff here but I have one
    single problem.
    Here is my question, where should I put my custom drawing
    logic? If I do it in the updateDisplayList inside the class
    extending UIComponent it works, however I thought that it would be
    a better practice to do it using programmatic skins, that way I
    could provide different skin themes for my component set.
    The problem is that I can't make the programmatic work in
    this scenario. I tried instantiating the custom programmatic skin
    during the updateDisplayList of the LiteButton component and adding
    it to my display object via addChild but that didn't do anything. I
    also tried creating a "default.css" stylesheet and tried to use
    ClassReference as I would normally do to skin an already existing
    component (or composite component as well) but that didn't do
    anything either.
    So how do I apply programmatic skins for completely custom
    drawn components of my Flex library project?
    I could do it inside the updateDisplayList of the LiteButton
    class extending UIComponent but again I would like to provide
    different theme sets for my components so it makes sense using
    programmatic skins.

    This may help with that

    These aren't mutually exclusive. When you provide a skin with
    a
    TypeSelector, you have to add it to the display list
    somewhere, and this is
    typically done in updateDisplayList or addChildren. I prefer
    to do it in
    updateDisplayList, because you can then change it if the
    style changes.

    Exactly what did you do?

    I've never had any problem using an approach similar to
    this...but I will
    say that I couldn't see any advantage in creating a
    default.css style sheet,
    since it's not really default in the way that the one that
    comes with Flex
    is. It's much more obvious to anyone using your component
    what's going on
    there if you create a style sheet where they're likely to
    spot it.

    It seems like your approach is fine, but maybe you've made a
    mistake in your
    implementation.

    You might want to consider also adding an instance of
    HaloBorder to your
    component. That brings a lot of functionality with it.

  • Problems with Logical Components

    Hi All,
    I am having problems with Logical Components with our project. We are implemeents SAP HCM and we have defined a logical component Z_ERP for the ECC server. now when you look at the transaction from SOLAR02 it seems they also have a logical Component SAP Learning Solution that is assigned to them. what could be the cause of this???

    Hi Trevor,
    If you brought them in from the Business Process Repository, the logical component is going to be the default one. If you want to use your own, you need to replace the default one with yours.
    You can do this in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN by going to the System Landscape tab > Systems tab > highlight the SAP Learning Solution logical component row > press F4 > replace it with Z_ERP.
    If for some reason SAP Learning Solution isn't listed as a logical component you may have to add it, you can also just go to SOLAR02 > Edit > Replace Log. Comp > Enter SAP Learning Solution in the top box and Z_ERP in the bottom one > click Save.
    regards,
    Jason
