Problems deploying EJB on a oracle 8i server

We are trying to deploy a EJB on a oracle 8i server. We crossposted this question in BI Beans forum also.
For doing so we are using the following command:
"deployejb -republish -temp temp -u sys -p sys -s sess_iiop://NLWS122:2481:
LOKAAL -descriptor AQServerReceive.ejb AQServerReceive.jar"
It seems that everything goes allright (we can trace the classes in the database) but we get this message:

Compiling Stubs...done

What could be the problem?
More info:
We are trying to get the example in the white paper 275199.pdf (Building Internet Applications with Oracle Forms 6i and Oracle8i) working.
Thx for helping.

Hi Ralph,
I don't know if you are aware of this, but Oracle has replaced
the database embedded EJB container (a.k.a. "aurora") with an
external EJB container named OC4J (Oracle Containers for J2EE).
OC4J is available in both stand-alone version and as part of Oracle's
application server product: 9iAS. Although the database embedded
EJB container still exists in the latest database versions (as
far as I know), Oracle has -- for a long time, now -- been discouraging
its use in favour of OC4J.
More information on OC4J is available from:
http://technet.oracle.com/tech/java/oc4j/content.html
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • Problem deploying EJB to Oracle 8.1.7

    Hi,
    I'm facing a problem while deploying EJB on to Oracle 8i.
    I'm using oracle 8.1.7 under Linux (RedHat 7.0).
    Also I'm using JDeveloper 3.2.2 (working under Windows NT)
    JDeveloper came with JDK version 1.2.2, but I'm using
    JDK 1.3(to use connection pooling).
    Classes compiled and says it is error free.
    But when I try to deploy this it gives me an error message saying

    Later I copied aurora_client.zip from Linux on to JDeveloper version.
    Still I get the same error.
    Any idea?
    Expecting your valuable suggestions.
    Thanks,

    I am wondering about the classes in the database. This is from metalink.
    SELECT count(*)
    FROM dba_objects
    WHERE object_type LIKE '%JAVA%';
    If the above query returns a number < 4000, the installation was not
    successful.
    The query below checks for any invalid Java classes using a Java stored procedure:
    SELECT dbms_java.longname(name)
    FROM sys.obj$
    WHERE type# = 29 and status != 1;
    If the above query fails or returns any rows, then something is wrong with the JVM installation.
    You can also test the Jserver by using the examples in
    $OH/javavm/demo/examples/corba/basic/helloworld
    or
    $OH/javavm/demo/examples/ejb/basic/helloworld
    To compile classes in the database
    Alter Java Class " Name of the java class" compile;

  • Deployment Manager Error with Oracle Weblogic Server 10.3.1

    I have installed Identity Manager 9.1.0.2 (patch upgraded from 9.1.0.1) on OEL 5.3 64bit and Weblogic 10.3.1
    Database:Oracle 11gR2 (remote machine).
    **I am aware that IM 9.1.0.2 is not certified on Weblogic 10.3.1 (it is only certified on 10.3),
    The installation was successful and OIManager is up and running. Able to create Users, Resources etc. as well.
    As part of configuring OIM Connectors tried to Import .xml file using Import option from Deployment Management section as below and the following error was displayed.
    "Either your session timed out or you are trying to access a page without logging in".
    Did all workarounds like enabling java, changing browsers, restarting machine etc as per the below discussion but in vain.
    Deployment Manager Error with Oracle Weblogic Server
    Can any one suggest any workaround or solution for this problem.
    Or atleast can any one confirm there is no Identity manager available on this date which is compatible with 10.3.1? and cannot be continued further.
    Thanks in Advance

    You are facing this issue because you're using a non certified combination.
    Other folks who tried to use OIM in 10.3.1 ended up in the same problem you're facing.

  • Error -8 when deploying JHeadStart application to Oracle Application Server

    Hi,
    I have developed an application using Oracle JHeadstart 10.1.3 Preview Version 10.1.3.0.78
    We have Oracle Application Server 10g running in AS400. I created a connection to the server and tested. It shows the connection success.
    I am trying to deploy my application to Oracle Application Server 10g but getting the following error:

    I developed applications in JDev10.1.2 and deployed to the same server (Oracle Application Server 10g) without any problem.
    But if I want to deploy application from JDev10.1.3 then I am having this error.
    Can anybody help me? what might be the problem?
    Thanks
    Syed

    Syed,
    Did you generate your application with service -level property "JSP version" set to "1.2"? If not, you cannot deploy your app to a J2EE 1.3 application server like Oracle AS 10.1.2.

    Indeed that was the problem, and thanks to you I could successfully deploy my EJBs to OC4J. But now I have other problem.
    As I said, I am writing a simple app where a Java client access a EJB in OC4J, running both in the same machine. Below is part of the code of the client:
    package seg;
    import java.rmi.*;
    public class GrupoCliente {
    public GrupoCliente() {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    GrupoHome home = (GrupoHome)Naming.lookup("Grupo");
    I am getting this error when I run it:
    java.rmi.ConnectException: Connection refused to host: 127.0.0.1; nested exception is:
         java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    What am I missing now? Furthermore, how I control which clients will be able to access which EJBs in OC4J (authentication)? It seems to me that this is a security-related problem...
    Thanks again!

  • Data sources in deploying web app. to Oracle Application Server

    I am using simple web application - JSP with BC4J (JDeveloper 9.0.5.1).
    I want to configure my application to use Data Source instead of JDeveloper connection and deploy it to production database, so DB administrator will take care of username and password.
    First, I create a new application module configuration that uses a data source instead of a JDeveloper connection with BC config. name TestAppModuleWithDS.
    Then I modify my application client (DataBindings.cpx) to use the new configuration (TestAppModuleWithDS).
    After that I create deployment profile and deploy to application server connection and try to test it on standalone server, and on production server together with my DBA.
    But the application is not running, always displaying error messages...
    Please what is the procedure and how to set Config of ApplModule.
    It is working properly with embeded server, but on standalone server there is an error:

    iAS 1.0.x is StoneAge Technology (TM).
    Using the E-Business Suite you should look into the newer versions of the Application Server. I believe that 10.1.2.x supports the EBS, otherwise 9.04 should do the trick. Webservice support is much better in the newer versions. 1.0.x is from around 2000/2001 so the Webservice technology back than was "different" :-)

  • Where can I find the deployed EJB files in Oracle 10g AS(904)

    Hello All,
    Where can I find the deployed ejb files, stubs and skels in the Oracle 10g (904)
    When I try to run my ejb application I m getting following exception:
    com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException: Error (de-)serializing object: org.apache.log4j.Logger
    I am not sure what is causing this error. I am not using any logging in my EJB. But the logging framework is configured in the application server.
    Your input would be a great help to me
    Thank you

    Thanks Carty,
    I am not creating Connection from EJB. I have a POJO called DBManager that looks for the DB Connection and return that to either EJB or other POJO that requests for Connection.
    I am having a private method that get the connection from the DBManager because while writing UnitTest cases I can mockup getting Connection as my Unit test case will be a POJO again..
    I have a question here regarding making DBManager as Singleton class. In my current project, I have configured my database in the application server as getting the connection by lookup for datasource through JNDI. It internally maintains all logical connection and always have one physical connection. In such scenario how implementing singleton will be beneficial?
    Thank you for answering all my questions.

    Hi Nikos,
    I obviously don't know what your entire situation is, but you may not
    be aware that Oracle's DBMS embedded EJB container does not work well,
    and as a result, Oracle decided to replace it with an external EJB
    container which is part of a product called "Oracle Containers for
    J2EE" (otherwise known as "OC4J"). The "other" forum (the J2EE forum)
    deals mainly with OC4J.
    As far as I know, Oracle recommends doing your EJB related work with
    OC4J and not with the embedded EJB container.
    Good Luck,
    Avi. That's correct
    Java code, implementing data bound logic, can still run in the database as Java stored procedures/packages/functions/triggers
    while J2EE componentsdeployed in middle-tier implement business logic. Java in database enable the database to be an active participant to your deployment platform
    in 9iDB R2 you will even be able to call-out Web client (using HTTP Client), EJB client (using oc4jclient.jar) or Web Service client
    (using SOAP libraries)

  • Deploying  Jave portlet on Oracle Application Server 10g

    I have installed Oracle 10g Application server, donwloaded and installed JDevleoper 9.0.5.1 and the latest Java Portal Development and as well as the JDeveloper portlet-addin. Now, I followed the instructions from the http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDK/ARTICLES/BUILD.JSR168.PORTLETS.USING.JAVA.PORTLET.WIZARD.9IJDEVELOPER.HTML
    On using JDeveloper addin wizrd to create a java portlet and so far so good. However, I am stuff on the last bit on deployment. It document says "# Now use the URL provided in the log page at the bottom of JDeveloper to get part of your URL (e.g. http://myserver.uk.oracle.com:8888/my-portlet) and complete the URL.
    http://myserver.uk.oracle.com:8888/my-portlet/portlets?WSDL
    Now use this URL to register your portlet with OracleAS Portal.
    But when i deploy my application (just a test thing), from the deployment tab I get:

    Many thanks
    P/S
    I have tried:

    Hi FormsEleven,
    When you say you can do this or you have done for demo then considering following directory structure if I have two forms having common form names how it will be resolved?
    Or how the url to access these forms will be?
    As shown in the following structure consider we have Form1 in sub directory1 as well as in sub-directory2 then how the link to access these forms will be?
    - Hosting Directory (formsweb.cfg entry)
      - Sub Directory1
          - Form1
          - Form2
      - Sub Directory2
          - Form1
          - Form4

    We have the below setup:

    Thanks, Prince,
    I figured it all out. I did rename it as xxnjmc as you suggested:
    Here are the steps I typed up for my own reference and just wanted to share:
    DEPLOYING CUSTOM OAF Pages:
    1. Zip "C:\Software\Oracle\JDEVOA\jdevhome\jdev\myclasses\xxxxxx" folder as xxxxxx.zip
    2. Login to middle-tier server with applprod/password
    3. Navigate to $JAVA_TOP
    4. Upload xxxxxx.zip file into $JAVA_TOP and unzip
    5. chmod -R 775 xxxxxx
    6. Navigate to "/u0/oracle/prod/apps/apps_st/appl/xxxxxx/12.0.0/"
    7. mkdir mds
    8. Upload "C:\Software\Oracle\JDEVOA\jdevhome\jdev\myclasses\xxxxxx\oracle\apps\fnd\upload\webui" (with the webui folder) into "/u0/oracle/prod/apps/apps_st/appl/xxxxxx/12.0.0/mds"
    9. chmod -R 775 /u0/oracle/prod/apps/apps_st/appl/xxxxxx/12.0.0/mds
