Problems e-mailing quiz results

I'm trying to send quiz results to an e-mail address - it
does that fine at the end of the quiz, but it also sends a set of
"fail" stats on most slides, so the person taking the quiz ends up
with a stack of e-mail messages to send! I've tried different
variations of settings in Quiz Manager, I've also tried select the
actual buttons on the screens concerned and under Properties saying
that I do not want results from this screen...but I still get them.
Am I doing something really stupid, and is there an easy
answer to this?
Any help gratefully received!

I don't have an answer for you, but I am having the exact
same issue, so I am thinking if you are doing something stupid, so
am I, or MAYBE there is something wrong with Captivate2. I did this
very successfully in the previous version so I don't know what
could be causing the issue.
P.S. I just downloaded a project from the website and
converted it Captivate2 and published. Previously, it worked but
after conversion it began behaving the same way.

  • E-Mail Quiz results

I have set up a quiz page within my captivate movie. I have
configured the quiz options so the user can e-mail the results to
me. I have published the movie and ran it in a web browser. The
send e-mail button appears but fails to send an e-mail. I am
expecting it to open Outlook. What have I missed?

    Hi there,
Any chance you can let me see the files in question. I have
    used the
Send Email feature in Captivate 1.0 on many occasions and not
    experienced problems.

  • E-Mail Quiz Results AND Score

I've selected every available option and configuration
related to quiz reporting, and nothing but the final score comes
through. We do not have an LMS, and I fear that Captivate's quiz
reporting setup is geared for folks with an LMS and leaves others
out in the cold. I need a way to report quiz scores and answers to
questions VIA E-MAIL, in the absence of an LMS to store the
results. Anything anyone could offer along these lines? Thank
    you.

Or any other LMS, others are free (Sakai, etc), others are
    fairly
    inexpensive (Inquisiq, WBT Manager).
Or hack the javascript behind the lesson to redirect the
    output to a
database instead of out to email.
But, yes, relying on the email solution alone seems
    very...risky.

  • E-mailing quiz results

I am having a problem getting Captivate 4 to e-mail results.  I have enabled reporting, selected e-mail as reporting mechanism, put in my e-mail address, and selected e-mail as both the pass/fail option.  I publish the file and test it but no e-mail is sent.  I click the "Send E-mail" button and nothing happens.  Once I get to the results screen and click rewind it will bring up my outlook e-mail window, but no data is in the e-mail.
Is there something that I am missing here?

Yes... You are missing seeing the hundreds of other posts reporting the same issue.
The bottom line here is that eMail reporting is unreliable at best. If it works for you, count yourself lucky. Maybe even buy yourself a lottery ticket!
You really should consider using the forum search facility to locate reports of eMail issues with Captivate. You will likely be surprised.
You may wish to report it to Adobe as a bug.

  • No Quiz Results in E-mail

    Hello,
I created a quiz, and set the results to be e-mailed. When I
tested it with F4, the quiz results showed up in the e-mail. But,
when I publish it and upload the files, the send e-mail button
initiates an e-mail to the correct address, but there are no
results in the e-mail. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Adobe Captivate 6 problem with Review area text on Quiz results page

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Captivate 6 and I have a test at the end of my project with the built in 'Quiz results page' at the end.
However, the standard 'review area' provided always seems to play up for me. I have changed the 'quiz results messages' through the preferences and changed the font of the review area, but everytime I play my project the message displayed is in a different font that I did not set and the size is so large that the sentence goes off the screen. It has done this on numerous projects.
I have changed the font of the review area and it shows up on my normal view, but everytime I preview the project or publish it, the font changes back to a strange default.
Does anyone know how I can fix this?
    Thank you.

    Hannah,
That is a very well-known bug in the last Captivate versions... if you screen these forums you'll find multiple threads complaining about it. Some fonts will work, I think Calibri works (not all styles however) and all the other fonts revert to Times New Roman. I'm a bit puzzled that you call it a 'strange default'.

  • Help!  Quiz Results page problem

Hopefully someone can help me. When I create a quiz and have
a quiz results page, I have to click the Next button two or even
sometimes three times before I can continue to the next slide.
Anyone have an idea why? Thank you!

This happens to me, too. Often times I have to click twice.
Sorry I have no solution, but at least we're not alone

  • Problem with quiz results.

Hey guys, i have a problem with a quiz that i need to do, i've been using this template: http://www.permadi.com/tutorial/flashMXQuiz/index.html
But what i need and it doesnt include is how to put a message at the end of the game which tells you that you won or lost depending if you had at least two questions right or less than two right.
I´ve been searching and have not found any code that i could just add to my ActionScript.
I also have been trying with variables like this:
    if(numofQuestionsAnsweredCorrectly>=2){gotoAndPlay(3)}
    else
    {gotoAndPlay(6)}
..and stuff like that. I'm sorry if that's completely wrong..I'm just starting to learn.
I hope anybody can help me with this.
    Thanks

Page 3 of the tutorial shows you the SummaryScreen. They calculate the percent correct there:
    userScore=(numOfQuestionsAnsweredCorrectly * 100) / (numOfQuestionsAnsweredIncorrectly + numOfQuestionsAnsweredCorrectly);
It's right there you should stick your code to change to the frame you desire. Make sure you're changing the correct clips playhead.
Do note they're using a lot of frame labels (and they're using flash player 6 with some ancient ActionScript 1.0 coding). There's a chance this quiz won't work in the future. Even ActionScript 2.0 has been depreciated and is currently unsupported by the latest version, Flash CC. It doesn't mean the browser plugin doesn't support it but eventually it may. It's long overdue..
For the 1.0 code though, at the point I mentioned you should be able to do it with what you have (if you want to switch the main timeline to those frames via _root.
    if (numofQuestionsAnsweredCorrectly >= 2)
              _root.gotoAndPlay(3)
    else
              _root.gotoAndPlay(6)
If you want "some other" clip to move to that frame then add the instance name after _root, e.g. _root.myClip.gotoAndPlay(3);, etc..

  • Since installing mountain lion i have a problem with mail. when i delete a message close  and open mail the message has come back. please help!

Since installing Mountain Lion i have a problem with Mail. I delete a number of messages from the same person but keep the newest message in my Inbox. I actually delete them from the Trash. The next time i open Mail the deleted messages are back again. Can anybody please help as this is getting annoying. Thanks in Anticipation.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "41." Please post it in a reply.

  • Problems with Mail and Safari

    Hi,
I'm running OS 10.11 and am having some consistent problems with Mail and Safari on my MacPro Dual 2.66. Here they are:
Sometimes, for no apparent reason, selecting these applications from the dock no longer opens the application (or a new window if already opened), but causes them to be revealed in the finder.
In Safari, when this problem occurs, another symptom seems to be that new windows will ONLY open in a new tab, even though I have preferences set to open links in a new window. If I click on a bookmark within a folder in the bookmark toolbar, Safari will open ALL the bookmarks in the folder in new tabs!!
In Mail, when I open my Inbox, clicking on various messages will highlight (in blue) ALL the messages I'm clicking on, instead of simply displaying the highlighted message in the reader.
The only way to get things back to normal is to reboot my machine, which is getting to be a total drag, especially since this seems to happen fairly often.
One other thing that may be related- if my screen saver is running, and I move the mouse to go to an active screen, the computer will "freeze." It stays like this indefinitely- I figured out that if I press the button on the machine itself it will go to sleep, and I can wake it up and then everything is fine, but I don't understand what's going on.
I have tried using Disk Utility and Disk Warrior, and have used OnyX to clean out my system cache and aall sorts of other stuff, but to no avail.
Is anybody else experiencing any of this? I'm starting to get really frustrated. Thanks for any advice.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Scott,
I had posted earlier that I had Flash payer problems and then QuickTime and PDF preview problems too, on my Intel PowerMac. I could not figure out what the problem was, because fixing permissions and moving plugins did not work. Console indicated that the Quicktime components were not found, with the problem in a webkit pref file somewhere (nil field value). Anyway, I bailed and reinstalled Leopard from a 10.5.0 DVD, and then updated using the combo updater to 10.5.3. Everything worked. Then, after the 'Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 1', it all broke again. This time, repairing permissions resulted in:
User differs on "System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.2/Home/lib/jvm.cfg", should be 0, user is 95.
User differs on "System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.4.2/Libraries/classlist" , should be 0, user is 95.
Now it all works again. This is obviously a flaw with the Java update, and also somehow Disk Utility did not find it earlier. Anyway, take a look at reverting the Java update, or manually changing user for those files (I suppose user 0 is root, but maybe it is nobody).
    Obscure....

  • Can we remove the Continue button from Quiz Results?

    Hi Everyone,
Is there any way to remove the continue button from the Quiz Results page?
I have a captivate file in which there is a Thank you slide at the end after the Quiz results slide. Now, here's the problem - The user is just finishing the quiz and closing the browser tab - which is not showing the completion status inside LMS. The user must need to view the Thank you slide  -  so that the LMS can respond as "Completed" status.
Now, I want to remove the Continue button on Quizzes result slide so that user doesnot need to go ahead to next slide to complete the course. And i will put the Thank You message here in Quizzes result slide only.
Can I remove the continue button from the Quiz Results page so that it can be the last slide?
    Regards
    Vikas Sharma

Removing the Continue button from the Quiz Results slide is NOT a good idea in my experience.  Clicking the Continue button triggers functions in Captivate to terminate the quiz and commit the score to the LMS.  If this button is not clicked, Captivate may not be sure the person has decided they're done with the quiz and wants their score to be captured by the LMS at that point.  There are often other buttons on the Quiz Results slide to offer the user the option of Retaking or Reviewing the Quiz.  Only the Continue button is designed to take them further beyond the Quiz Result slide.
Like yourself, I have also found learners often fail to grasp the importance of the Continue button and don't realise they need to do something extra (beyond reaching the Quiz Results slide) in order for their score to be captured.  So what I usually do is rename the Continue button to something more meaningful such as: Register Your Score, or Record Quiz Results Now.  Having a name like this (and making the button nice and large and bold so that it's not easy to miss) clearly tells people that they need to click this button if they want their score to be retained.  It's just a simple change, but it practically eliminated all issues we had with people just closing down their browser when they saw the Quiz Results.

  • How do I see email address (LearnerID) in Quiz Results Analyzer

    Useing Captivate 5.5
Reporting Quiz results to a local server.
Q: How can I see the "LearnerID" (students email address) in the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer?
When the student clicks on "Post Results" and enters their name and email address in the pop-up window the email address is collected. You can see the email address (LearnerID) in the resulting XML file that's saved in the CaptivateResults folder.
Problem is I can't see the email address in the Analyzer, and don't see an option to include it. How can I see the "LearnerID" or the students email address in the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer? From here I want to export a CSV file.

Thanks for your response. The quiz results analyzer is awesome, but without the display of email addresses it is not a total solution.
I'm using an internal server and what I found out is that the .xml file that Captivate creates in the CaptivateResults folder (that Captivate also creates) contains the email addresses.
So, rather than use the analyzer, I will have to figure out the best way to view email addresses from the xml file. If anyone has a solution that you are happy with, please let me know.

  • Quiz result not showing up in Edge

    Hi there Edgers
Really hoping someone can help me out with this problem. I've used Redesigns code(Seen Below) to design a quiz in Animate.
I have two problems, when the first question is answered, it skips to the 3rd question instead of the 2nd. I am not sure why this is as I have have checked for overlapping buttons, there are none and it does not occur on any other questions, only the first. Second problem is the quiz reult is not showing up at the end, I have the "grade" and "result" divs in my timeline but when they are reached they do not change to display the quiz results.
    Help would be much appeciated

As a side note, this quiz appears at the end of a 8 section mulitmedia learning environment. The code obove is the only code present in the "creationcomplete" window, the rest is done in the timeline.
    George

In you if statement you need to change  the if statement from i=7 to i==7;  when you compare you need the double equal sign.
    var FinalScoreHolder = q1 + q2 + q3 + q4 + q5 +q6 +q7;
              if (i==7){
                        //var FinalScoreHolder = q1 + q2 + q3;

// play the timeline from the given position (ms or label)
                        sym.play("fail");

  • Black Line in Body of OSX Leopard Mail Email - Resulting from Form Distribution

I have created a form and am sending it via email to be completed.  In Snow Leopard Mail the resultant email has the attached form and the instructions are hidden by a black band running across the email page.  Any suggestions as to what might be going on.  The email is being sent via google gmail then to Mail.
    Thanks

I think I have heard about a problem in Mail that you have to reinstall Mail or go to apple's website and look for an update for Mail  that addresses this problem.

  • Quiz results not appearing in email body

Using Captivate 2, I set up a quiz that is supposed to send
its results to e-mail. In the Quiz Manager, on the Reporting tab, I
    have the following settings:
Enable resporting for this project (checked)
    LMS: email
Report Pass or Fail: report status as defined by report data
Choose report data: report quiz results and slide views
Report score to LMS as: score
Reporting Level: report interactions and the score
Then I publish my project. When I run the .htm, no e-mail is
generated. The only way I can get an email to generate at all, is
if I click on the Pass/Fail Options tab in the Quiz Manager, and
set "If passing grade:" action: send email to: (the email address).
This does generate an e-mail, but the body is blank, with no
results reported within (even though I specifiying that I want the
    data in the above settings).

I'm trying to do the same thing... having set up a small
quiz, a pass mark, and asking for an email to show the score only,
nothing is generated running it locally. But after uploading to my
server and running it from there I do in fact get an email. The
data is in an attachment POSTDATA.ATT which Windows doesn't know
how to open. But if you change the extension to csv then XL opens
it fine and reports as requested. The user is identified by the
    sender of the email.
