Problems for a beginner, please help.

Question

Whats wrong with this program?
When I type "monkey" in the dos-window it doesn't call for the skapakort() method. Why?

public class test {
public static void main(String[] args) {
String line = "";
InputStream istream     = System.in;
Reader ilas = new InputStreamReader( istream );
BufferedReader bufread = new BufferedReader( ilas );
try{
line = bufread.readLine();
catch(java.io.IOException e){}
if (line.trim() == "monkey") {
skapaKort();}
else{
System.out.println("Error");}               
static void skapaKort(){     
for (int i = 1; i <= 6; i = i + 1){         
System.out.println("Correct");}
}

But why do I have to use "equals". Why can't I use
