  • Problem while using h:selectOneMenu tag

    Hello All,
    I am facing a problem while using the <h:selectOneMenu in my JSP.
    My requirement is as below,
    I am having a list of manager in the select box.
    User will select any of the manager and click a command link to assign the manager.
    On click of this command link backerbean method should be invoked.
    My problem is,
    I am able to display the list box without any problem.
    But Once I select any value from the list box the command link is not working.
    That is click on the command link is not invoking the backer bean method.
    My code look as below,
    JSP

         for (int i=0; i<managerListSize; i++) {
              Employee manager = (Employee) managerSearchList.get(i);
              managerSelectItem =  new SelectItem(StringUtils.isNotEmpty(manager.getOrgInfo().getPositionNumber())?manager.getOrgInfo().getPositionNumber():"",StringUtils.isNotEmpty(manager.getFullDisplayName())?manager.getFullDisplayName():"");
              managerSelectItemList.add(managerSelectItem);
         setManagerList(managerSelectItemList);Please help me on this.
    Thanks In Advance

    I have solved this problem by putting the list in portlet session and allowing the get method to get the SelectItem from the session

  • Using expressions in tag ...

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem while using expressions in tag
    in iPlanet4.1.
    my code is
    <%@ taglib uri="/uri" prefix="myjsp" %>
    <myjsp:init param1="<%=avar%>" param2="abd" />
    this is working fine in apache.but in iplanet the value for param1 is taken as a string "<%=avar%>" !
    is there any solution for this ?
    thanks.

    I don't know anything about iPlanet, but you might want to check your TLD file and make sure you're not setting rtexprvalue to false for the attribute param1.

  • Problem in Iterating using logic:iterate tag

    Hi ,
    I am using <logic:iterate> tag to iterate through a list of contents.
    When the List size is 1222, all the Contents in the List are displaying properly.
    When the size execdes 1223, the JSP is not displaying properly.
    I am not getting any exception also.
    I have added try and catch. Still it is not showing any exception.
    When the size is more than 1300, Some contents are not displaying in JSP.
    Can any one provide some inputs, so that I can crack my issue.
    The JSP code :
              <logic:iterate id="someXXXX" property="someXXX" name="someXXX" indexId="count" scope="request">
              <tr>
    <td><html:text name="someXXXX" property="someXXXX"
                             size="50" maxlength="50" onchange="setDirty()" indexed="true"/> </td>
    <td height="15" align="center"><html:checkbox property="someXXXX" name="someXXXX" indexed="true" onclick="setCheckboxFlag(this)" />
                   <td width="4"> </td>
              </tr>
              <html:hidden property="someXXXX" name="someXXXX" indexed="true" />
              </logic:iterate>
    Thanks,
    RamaKrishna

    get the records and store them in a collection. Store the collection in session. take the first 10 records as a subset and pass it to the iterate tag. use the hidden field to keep the last record number in the jsp. So when you first see the jsp the first 10 records will be shown and when user clicks for next records send the hidden field value to the server and take next 10 records as subset and pass it to iterate tag. This is how you can do this. but if you have thousands of records storing them in the session is not recommended. you can pull them directly from the database.

  • Problem in using the f:attribute tag in JSF

    when I am trying to loop the JSF using the JSTL tag <c:foreach> I am getting the value as "Error:form_id0" .cold any one help me please

    Now with Unified EL - JSTL and JSF tags are supposed to work on one page.
    If you want to use Unified EL you need
    1) A container that is built on Servlet 2.5 / JSP 2.1 , and example of such a container is Tomcat 6.x
    2) Probably need to upgrade to JSTL 1.2 , and JSF 1.2
    3) If you're upgrading the container to Servlet 2.5 then web.xml should conform to Servlet 2.5 version.
    4) Use correct taglib URIs for JSTL 1.2 and JSF 1.2

  • Using 3rd party tags in JSF application

    I have a 3rd party tag library used previously in a Struts application to check if an user is authenticated / has logged in. The tag looks like this: <authn:authenticate userVarName="user" scope="session" errorPage="error.jsp" successPage="/faces/Page1.jsp"></authn:authenticate>. One unusual thing about the tag is that the uri for it references a jar file that includes the tld.
    I can build the app okay but deployment fails with the following error:
    Deploying application in domain failed; Error loading deployment descriptors for authapp Line 91 Column 10 -- cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'taglib'. One of '{"http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":description, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":display-name, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":icon, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":distributable, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":context-param, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":filter, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":filter-mapping, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":listener, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":servlet, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":servlet-mapping, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":session-config, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":mime-mapping, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":welcome-file-list, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":error-page, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":jsp-config, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":security-constraint, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":login-config, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":security-role, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":env-entry, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":ejb-ref, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":ejb-local-ref, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":service-ref, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":resource-ref, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":resource-env-ref, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":message-destination-ref, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":message-destination, "http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee":locale-encoding-mapping-list}' is expected.
    ; requested operation cannot be completed
    Exception=Deployment failed.
    The tag's tld is <tlib-version>1.1</tlib-version> <jsp-version>1.2</jsp-version>. I'm not sure if this is the problem or if 3rd party tags don't necessarily work within JSF (am using Creator) without modification. Does anyone have any advise on this? Should 3rd party tags work? If not, how do they need to be modified or turned into a component to work? This tag doesn't display anything - it checks if users have logged in and redirects them to another site to login if they did not log in.

    Thanks for your reply! I do have the jar file, which includes the .tld, in my WEB-INF/lib
    On Page1.jsp I tried using <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/lib/myLibrary.jar" prefix="myTag" %> but got errors so I moved it to <jsp:root version="1.2" xmlns:myTag="/WEB-INF/lib/myLibrary.jar"...Should the <%@taglib uri = work? When I tried to use <%@taglib version I got errors saying strict xml enforced.
    I am using the format prefix:tag format <myTag:checkaccess userVarName="user"
    scope="session"
    errorPage="error.jsp" ></myTag:checkaccess>
    Do I need to somehow convert this tag into a component?
    I think the jar is fine since I'm using it in a number of other applications.
    Should the tag work? Do non-JSF tags have to be turned into components?

  • Problem in using SAX parser.

    Hai All,
    I have got a problem in using SAX parser.
    My XML looks like this:
    <authorizer>
    <first-name>HP</first-name>
    <last-name>Services</last-name>
    <phone>800-22-1984</phone>
    </authorizer>
    <destination>
    <first-name>John</first-name>
    <last-name>Doe</last-name>
    <company>John Doe Enterprises, Inc.</company>
    <department>Manufacturing</department>
    <phone>800-555-1234</phone>
    <address>
    <street-one>1654 Peachtree Str</street-one>
    <street-two>Suite Y</street-two>
    <city>Atlanta</city>
    <province>GA</province>
    <country>US</country>
    <postal-code>30326</postal-code>
    </address>
    </destination>
    my part of SAX parser code is:
    public void startElement (String name, AttributeList attrs)
    throws SAXException
    accumulator.setLength(0);
    public void characters (char buf [], int offset, int len)
    throws SAXException
    accumulator.append(buf, offset, len);
    public void endElement (String name)
    throws SAXException
    if (name.equals("first-name") )
    firstname=accumulator.toString().trim();
    if (name.equals("last-name"))
    lastname=accumulator.toString().trim();
    My problem is that i have to store the values of first-name and last-name.
    but i have that in both
    <authorizer> </authorizer> Tag and
    <destination> </destination>
    I need to retrive authorizer's firstname,lastname and
    destination's firstname and lastname.
    what i mean is i need to store authorizerFirstName,authorizerLastName
    destinationFirstname and destinationLastname.
    Pls let me know how to do that.
    Thanks in advance.
    Pooja.

    hi pooja,
    I think you are using DataHandler for parsing. Its deprecated. try using contentHandler . You can get the value of the element at the beginning. say for example
    <firstname>sdfs</firstname>
    the startElement will be firstname
    the next method that it invokes will be characters method which has the text associated with the element. I am sending a sample code for your problem. try using it .
    boolean m_boolinAuth = false;
    boolean m_boolinDest = false;
    boolean m_bAuthFName = false;
    boolean m_bAuthLName = false;
    public void startElement(String namespaceURI, String elementName, String qName, Attributes atts)
    //does the logic for startElement
    if(qName.equals("Authorization"))
    m_boolinAuth = true;
    m_boolinDest = false;
    else if(qName.equals("Destination"))
    m_boolinDest = true;
    m_boolinAuth = false;
    if(qName.equals("firstname"))
    m_bFirstName = true;
    if(qName.equals("lastname"))
    m_bLastName = true;
    public void characters(char[] ch, int start, int length)
    //does the logic for characters.
    String str = new String(ch,start,length);
    if(m_bFirstName)
    if(m_boolinAuth)
    m_strAuthFirstName =str;
    else if(m_boolinDest)
    m_strDestFirstName = str;
    m_bFirstName = false;
    if(m_bLastName)
    //same as first name case;
    }

    hi all,
    I am doing programs in sturts. My program
    My program purpose is to retrieve data from the
    database.My database is MySql. I know that we can
    write connection code in Action Class, it is ok for
    some less prog's if i want to use the sane connection
    code in more Action Classes it is vasting time and
    so.I don't think it's a good idea to put database code in Action classes. (That's one of the biggest drawbacks of Struts - it's completely tied to Actions, HTTP, and the Web.) Better to move that code into plain old Java objects and let the Actions call them.
    You'll be able to test them without the container or Struts, and you'll be able to reuse those objects in other, non-Web contexts.
    So i want to use <data-sources> tag that is available
    in struts-config.xml. I know that thre is tag withThis is the wrong place to configure a connection pool, too. Struts should have nothing to do with it. What if you change Web frameworks to WebWork or Spring? The connection pool should be configured in the container that hosts your app, not Struts.
    this name, but the problem is i don't know how to use
    this tag. If any budy know how to use this please
    tell me the syntax or any example.
    plese... reply soon..Don't do it. Think about doing it in your container, not Struts.

  • How to use JSP custom tag lib in PAR file?

    Hi All,
    I am trying to customize mastheaderpar file. For that I have downloaded relevant par file and making the changes accordingly.
    As part of the changes I would require to use JSP custom tag library in my par file.
    I have the TLD file and relevant classes in the jar file. I would like to know where and what kind of modifications have to be done to use the jsp custom tag library.
    I tried modifying some things in portalapp.xml but was not successful.
    Please help me on how to proceed with this? It would be great if you can provide the xml entry to use this tag library
    Thanks
    Santhosh

    Hi Johny,
    Thanks for the reply. Actually I am able to change colors etc. with out any problem.
    My requirement is to use XMLTaglib in mastheader par file. This tag lib is from apache tomcat. I have the relevant TLD and class files. I copied TLD file into taglib dir of portal-inf and class file in src api.
    And I have added the following line in portalapp.xml under component-profile section of default
    <property name="tlxtag" value="/SERVICE/Newmastheader/taglib/taglibs-xtags.tld">
    Is this the right way to use tag lib? Actually before adding this line I used to get the error saying "Error parsing taglib", but now the error does not occur and I am getting new error. This is an exception in one of the taglib classes.
    Could any one provide me some inputs on how to check this error?
    Thanks
    Santhosh

  • Horizontal scroll bar in selectOneMenu tag

    Hi,
    I am using selectOneMenu tag to show the data. The data size is larger than the size of selectOneMenu tag. Inspite of increasing the size of tag,
    I want to add a horizontal scroll bar.
    Can someone please suggest me, how to achieve this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi,
    As suggested, I am using div tag to set the horizontal scroll bar in SelectOneMenu tag. The way I'm using it :-
    <div style="overflow-x:scroll; width:140px;">
    <h:selectOneMenu
              id="eventType"
              styleClass="standardInput"
              required="true"
              tabindex="40"
              onchange="clearMessage(this);"
              value="#{UserBean.activeEvent.eventType}"
              onkeydown="searchSelect( event);"
              onblur="searchBlur(event);" >
    <f:selectItems value="#{ReferenceLists.eventTypeList}" />
    </h:selectOneMenu>
    </div>
    This is adding the scroll bar outside the selectOneMenu tag but I want it in the dropdown window.
    Please suggest me, how to resolve the issue.

  • Problems in developing custom JSP tags

    I have problems in debugging custom JSP tags. Sometimes the doStartTag is not called on tags but the doEndTag is called. I don't know why.
    Thanks.

    Fahr--
    A word of caution -- NetUI did not ship a JSP tag SDK in 8.x, and
    we're making no compatibility guarantees for custom JSP tags written on
    the 8.x release and future releases.
    You can accomplish the same sort of functionality with a combination
    of the <netui-data:getData> tag and JSTL 1.0. This solution would
    probably provide similar functionality and be more future-proof relative
    to JSTL and the NetUI tags currently being developed in Beehive.
    Hope that helps.

    How would I evaluate what column2 is since the tag will only resolve one data source
    this.evaluateDataSource();
    Any pointers you can provide would be appreciated, or if there is a library of jsp tags that evaluate objects using datasources already created, that would even be better.

  • JDK 1.4.2_10; problem with applet/classpath/OBJECT tag

    I'm supporting an applet that needs to run in JDK 1.4.2_10 in order to work. (I don't own the code, so I can't fix the issue)
    I'd like to force that particular applet to run under JDK 1.4.2_10, but allow other applets to run on the current default JVM.
    I'm trying to do this by using the JDK's htmlconverter.exe utility to force the use of JDK 1.4.2_10. That part is working as expected, but I'm experiencing a side effect.
    The problem is that, when I use the OBJECT tag instead of the APPLET tag, the browser attempts to download the class with this URL
    http://hostname.here.com/app.testing/app.testbed/classes/appls%2fDOLARS%2fuser%2fApplet%2fclass.class
    instead of this URL
    http://hostname.here.com/app.testing/app.testbed/classes/appls/DOLARS/user/Applet.class
    The second URL works; the first does not. When I use the APPLET tag, it generates the second URL and downloads the class successfully.
    I'd like to a) use the OBJECT tag. b) get it to use the correct URL to download the Applet.class file. What do I need to do to make this happen?
    Thanks,

  • Problem with Lookout 6.5 tag sharing

    This is a WHOPPER, although a weird one...
    I have one grad student grabing shared variables from my Lookout server processes for inclusion in his LabVIEW implementation.
    After I upgraded the server's Lookout to 6.5, he reported problems reading values from one of the four processes running on my server.
    1.  Oddly enough, he had no problem displaying the tags in Max or in Activex Hypertrend within his LabVIEW executable, but he could not map the variables to his shared variables and thus he could not display them or include them in his Citadel.
    2.  Using Tag Monitor, all the values from the "troubled" process on my Lookout server, come up as "access denied".
    3.  Using Tag Monitor on the Lookout server (while all four processes were running in Lookout), I had the same results...."access denied".
    4.  All Lookout clients (both 6.5 and 6.2) have no problems accessing the troubled process tags both by expression and Lookout Hypertrend.
    The troubled process, has the last alphabetical process name and the last alphabetical file name.  All four processes are loaded using the startup settings in Lookout.ini.  Lookout runs as a service on WIndows 2008 x86 Hyper-V virtual machine.
    Because the processes are all production, I have not yet been able to mess with process names and loading order to possibly elaborate on the symptom.
    It is "maybe" and issue that Lookout 6.5 can't properly share out (via shared variable engine) variables from more than 3 processes at a time???
    Please advise ASAP.
    Ed

    The access denied error is more like a security issue. In Lookout Object Explorer, right click on process, and select Configure Network Security. If I give Everyone "No Access", or I just remove any permissions, I will get the access denied error in Tag Monitor.
    Actually Lookout has no limitation on the number of exported processes or tags. All the tags in each process are the tags in Logos Server. The LabVIEW access these tags by Logos protocol. If Lookout set the security, and the LabVIEW doesn't have enough access level, it will get access denied error. For example, lookout gives no access to the process.
    You can configure the Network Security for process, as well as any objects. By default, Everyone has Read&Write permission.

  • Problem when using weblogic.jspc from an IDE

    I am trying to call JSPC from an IDE (as part of an Eclipse Builder). To optimize performance I want to avoid to spwan a new process. So I am trying to call weblogic.jspc's main method directly from the IDE. Everything works fine for simple simple pages.
              But when the page refers to a tag library with a tag providing a TagExtraInfo class, weblogic.jspc complains about the class not extending the TagExtraInfo base class although it does:

              I could not figure out what exactly causes the problem. Using exactly the same settings workes just fine.

              <p>
              Unfortunately it doesn't really give any real reason - it is a general piece of code in jspc to report problems.
              <p>
              But I dug a lot bit deeper into the code and realized that the original problem is a ClassCastException in line 1290 of class StandardTagLib, which reads as follows:
              <p>
                   tagextrainfo = (TagExtraInfo)Beans.instantiate(classloader, s3);
              <p>
              This looks quite obvious that the class named by s3 simply is no extension of TagExtraInfo, but unfortunately the only class with that name being referenced by the class path does extend this class. I wondered what the problem might be and came up with the following answer:
              <p>
              The class of the bean instantiated by Beans.instantiate extends a class with the name "javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagExtraInfo" which is cast to another class with exactly <b>the same name, but a different class loader</b>. Since neither of the class loaders is parent of the other one, both classes are not considered being the same class although they have the same name. Sounds weird, but exactly this is the problem!
              <p>
              Where does it come from and why it works fine when the tool is executed in a separate thread or on the console?
              <p>
              From my understanding the problem is caused in line 395 of the class weblogic.jspc:
              <p>
                   GenericClassLoader genericclassloader = new GenericClassLoader(classpathclassfinder);
              <p>
              This line of code creates a class loader not knowing a parent class loader by which the class weblogic.jspc was loaded. All classes weblogic.jspc is using or calling will be loader by either the same or a parent class loader - this is important to understand. Since TagExtraInfo is directly referenced by StandardTagLib one instance of the class object (the object of type class) will be generated and linked when the class StandardTagLib is instantiated for the first time by the class loader which loaded weblogic.jspc (or by its parent). This is consequence which can not be avoided.
              <p>
              But now look at line 1290 of class StandardTagLib: It explicitly requests the class to be loaded by the GenericClassLoader instantiated in line 395 of the class weblogic.jspc. This class loader, off course, is not aware of the same class just being loaded by another class loader since it has no knowledge of it. It simply creates a fresh copy of the class object, which only differs in the reference to the class loader which created this class object.
              <p>
              Actually, I figured that the following line of code replacing the upper one, would resolve the problem:
              <p>
              GenericClassLoader genericclassloader = new GenericClassLoader(classpathclassfinder, this.getClass().getClassLoader());
              <p>
              Doing this, the GenericClassLoader would know its logical parent by reference and would implicitly - thanks to the implementation of java.lang.ClassLoader - try to find the class using its parent first, would find a valid class, and hence use the same instance of the class object instantiated by the parent class loader. The problem would be solved.
              <p>
              It works fine in the console or under a running application server, because they will always have the weblogic jar in their system class path. ClassLoaders not having a parent are implied to have the system class loader as their parent - the piece of code does work in this case.
              <p>
              Under Eclipse this is no option, off course. We would restrain us to exactly this version of the APIs used by the weblogic version in the system class path.
              <p>
              I was trying to patch this myself by extending weblogic.jspc by my own class to pass on a proper class loader knowing its parent, and I was sort of successful: The problem disappeared. But I can't gain exactly what I am looking for, because the method runJspc with four parameters (around line 447) of weblogic.jspc is private to the class and its public brother always passes true to this method as the fourth parameter - causing jspc to recompile all JSPs instead of just the requested ones.
              <p>
              Everything refers to WL81SP3.
              <p>
              That's were I got stuck currently. I have read some postings about this problem in the internet - some dating far back into the history. So, I have the impression that there have been some folks around with the same problem. I think the patch I suggested does not any harm and I could simply use jspc in my builder without any problems.
