When I boot up itunes it now says "library.xml" instead of just "iTunes"?
I recently tried to export my library which resides on an external hard drive to another external hard drive and failed. Not only didn't it copy but I couldn't find my library.
I managed to recreate my library in tact, and really don't care about the exporting aspect any more, but now when I boot up instead of saying "iTunes" at the top of the iTunes window and on my taskbar, it says "Lbrary.xml" as if that is the name of the software rather than iTunes. Everything seems to be working fine, but I wonder if there is a way to get it to say "iTunes" again.
Thanks for any help.
Mike
What you see at the top of the iTunes window is usually the name of the folder where your "iTunes Library.itl" file resides (that is your main library file). By default that folder name is "iTunes" and that's why you'd see it displayed, not because that is the name of the program.
But now with "Library.xml" showing I wonder if you re-built your library by opening your .xml file? Just for kicks, you might hold the Shift key as you launch iTunes and select "Choose Library" at the prompt, then navigate to where your "iTunes Library.itl" file resides and see what comes up.

My "itunes library" folder is empty. My libray music (prior to upgrading itunes) is now in an .xml file in my itunes location under my music. How do I extract/convert this .xml file to a Itunes database and restore my Itunes music library??? Thanks, Tom
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

i just restarted my mac then suddenly when it boots, disk utility came and says different option like repair disk, get help, reinstall OSX and I tried to click disk repair but it says that I am um able to repair the disk
It sounds like your hard drive either has a software problem that Disk Utility cannot fix or that the HD has failed (mechanically).
Your Mac may have booted either to your recovery partition or to internet recovery in an attempt to repair the drive- I can't tell from your post.
I'll assume that it was the recovery partition.
Try to boot into internet recovery (hold down option command R at restart), and see if you can repair your HD with Disk Utility. You should also repair permissions while you're there.
If that doesn't work, try to boot into single user mode (restart, hold down ⌘S until you see a black screen with white text) and repair your hard drive. Here's a reference with directions: Repair Your Hard Disk in Single User Mode | Everything Macintosh
If that doesn't work you have a few options:
If your mac originally came with installation disks, you can try to boot from the installation disk and then see if you can repair the HD.
There is a small chance that Techtool Pro 7 will be able to repair your HD if Disk Utility can't.
If none of that works then your HD has probably failed and will need to be replaced, which is not too difficult to do yourself if you can use a screwdriver. -

I just exported some music from Amazon to iTunes but now I can't find my original iTunes music. How can I find them?
I did this by going into the folder where the Amazon MP3's were and copied the link into iTunes under the add file link in the menu. This music was purchased before I had an iTunes account so I wasn't aware that they could've been automatically exported. I still have the iTunes MP3s on my iPhone. Could I sync them over or something to that extent because I can't find the files at all even when doing a system search.

i have connected my phone to itunes and now my phone doesnt work its just got this thing stuck on my phone screen and i dont know how to fix it??
Wow I see from the other responses to similar questions that the phone may be jailbroken. I thought I was purchasing an unlocked phone that was legal to use with any system. What a disappointment, I will have to go back to where I purchased this phone and let them have an ear full.
