Problems Installing Binary Applications

I bought my Mac a few months ago and have not been able to install any binary applications. The most well known of these would be AIM: http://www.aim.com/getaim/mac/latestmacosx.adp
When I try to install it is launching in Excel as a binary document. Very strange. I haven't found any examples of this happening to someone else online or otherwise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

AOL provides this download as a .bin file that requires Stuffit Expander which Apple quit pre-installing on all new Macs a while ago.
You can download Stuffit Expander (free) here.

  • Problem installing Java Applications

Hi there, i have problems installing Java Applications (from Ovi and from another source). The Apps from stores quit with just "there was a error", the other App is more detailed:

Is it possible that the Java-Handler is missing or faulty? Can this handler be manually installed? Thanks Gerd (E7-00 Anna, clean installation after hardreset)

  • Problems installing downloaded applications

I am having problems installing downloaded applications.  After I download an application, I can see it in my "downloads" folder.  When I double click it, instead of finding the package, I am taken directly to my "terminal" screen, and then cannot install.  Is there a setting that is the problem, and if so, how can I correct it?  Thanks in advance for any help.

I have read the post above but cannot really follow the advice & it doesn't seem to help me. I have downloaded two applications which do not load; (1) a plugin for Photoshop & (2) some Nokia sync software for my phone. I can see the downloads, but with (1) - which is a .dmg file - when I click on it, it does nothing; doesn't open or install anything. With (2), it tells me it is downloading to 'Macintosh HD'; but when I look on the HD I cannot see it anywhere.
    Can anyone assist please?

I got a Macbook running Lion. The problem is whenever i download an applications Setup it crashes.
I can see the app open on the dock (as i'm able to see the icon there), but nothing happens if I click them it crashes and auto closes. Any suggestion?

    Hello Nor:
I suspect you have already thought of it, but I would contact the software manufacturer (Adobe, right?) for help. I had a similar experience with different software and it turned out the the code was not included.
I would also try to (after removing whatever Pacifist installed) install the application from the software included with your scanner.

  • Problem Installing an application with wine(SOLVED)

I made a directory and installed cinema 4D and for the most part it goes fine, when it's finished installing the app it comes up and i can use it,but when i exit and try to bring the app back up with       wine CINEMA 4D.exe   i get a message saying    wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\CINEMA.exe".Also when i'm installing C4D at the directory selection menu, there's a directory /home/cube/.wine/drive.C/Programs where i'm assuming  that's where the app is supposed to be installed,so i checked it with   ls -as  and the Dir wasn't there so i created it,but when i'm back at the directory selection menu in C4D the Dir isn't there because the .wine Dir is hidden and i'm not sure how to unhide it or if that will even fix the    wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\CINEMA.exe"    problem and execute the file.
Any help with this will be very appreciated .Thx

call wine as any other application that require a filename as argument. From your home directory:
    wine '.wine/drive_c/Program Files/.../CINEMA 4D.exe'
(the quote are necessary because of the space in the filename).
You can also specify a Windows path:
    wine 'C:\Program Files\..\CINEMA 4D.exe'

I resolved the problem, the main reason was their was appserv-rt.jar file in the Java lib folder, once this was taken out, it worked perfectly.

  • OS 10.5.4 Strange problem installing some applications

    Hi,
I am running a macPro 2.66 with one boot drive on Leopard and one on Tiger.
I have noticed that when using Tiger and installing a new application I just grag it into the applications folder and BINGO.. it's installed. If I take the same application and drag it into Leopard's application folder it ends up outside the applications folder and may take 2 or 3 tries... and having to position it directly OVER the folder's icon before it will actually end up with the rest of the applications.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Check finder preferences(Leopard), general tab and confirm "Spring Loaded folders and windows" is checked.
If so, check the slider for delay status and note comment about the space bar.

Categorically no its not broken, the firmware just got mess up perhaps. Make a backup & reset to factory or format your phone. The codes below:
For resetting to factory default #*7780#
    For Formatting *#7370#
Caution: Don't load to much themes, it shares with the main memory of the phone, or you can't run other apps because of lack of memory.

  • FB 4.5.1 problem installing iOS application

I have gone through one of the Adobe tutorials to create the Twitter Trends mobile application using FB 4.5.1.  I then went through the well-documented process to install this app on my iPhone (signing up as an Apple developer, setting up the phone, etc).  I am able to produce the .ipa file needed to install the app on my iPhone.  However, when trying to install via iTunes, I get the following error:
The app "<appname>" was not installed on the iPhone "<iPhone>" because it is not compatible with this iPhone.
Has anyone seen this error before?  The iOS is up to date (4.2.1) as is my version of Flashbuilder.

So sad ... guess I can't read.  Need to trade this thing up anyway.
    Thanks -

  • Problem installing application on N96

    Hello
I have a new N96 and i have some problems installing new applications. Actually only with jar files the phone shows me that he is installing the application but when i look in the Applications folder it's not there. I can install only sis and sisx files.
Why do I have this problem? my phone had initially v10 software but now i did upgrade it to v12.
    Please help me!
    thanks

    Hi bogdan_f
In the phone's Application Manager > Options, you have verified that "Online Certificate Check" is set to "Off" and "Software Installation" is set to "All"?
Just to confirm that you didn't lose functionality of any .jar applications already installed when you upgraded firmware to v12 and that you were calling them "new applications" because they didn't seem to be installed?

  • [SOLVED]How to install .deb application (debian binary)

    Hello guys,
I want to install the Adobe Connect 8 Add-in which can be found under the following link.
http://www.adobe.com/support/connect/updaters.html (Link to the adobe website)
http://www.adobe.com/go/adobeconnect_8_addin_lin (Links to the debian file)
As adobe stated on their website, this .deb file is for linux. Therefore I hope that this includes archlinux, too. So the question is how can I install binary package with the format .deb?
Please tell me that it is possible. I would really appreciate if someone can tell me how I can install this properly.
    Thanks.

Archie_Enthusiasm wrote:thanks for the responses. but the problem is that I am relatively new to arch linux. Since I had one serious problem with my nvidia driver because of an unsupported binary, I only use official arch linux repos for installing the application. I really (please understand this) do not want to take risk doing stuff on my own for this. My lap should be working tomorrow. Otherwise I will miss my presentation with adobe connect which would be very pity for me.
If its crucial it works within a certain time, run Debian or Ubuntu and install the program. Whichever way you look at it, unpackaging a .deb on an Arch system involves at least a bit of 'hackery' which does not involve Arch's repos.
The better solution is to actually try things out, and learn while doing so. Nobody is going to just give you the right answer, that's not how the distro works. In the case of what you're trying to do, YMMV, so even more there'll be no 'right answer' to point you to.

  • HT1926 My itunes won't open because it says "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem" Can someone help? I don't want to delete it altogether due to needing the phone backup

I was given notification to upload the latest version of itunes recently, so I clicked installed. However it has since corrupted my itunes and I get the error message:
"This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem".
In poor timing, I have also accidently damaged my phone and have a new one to restore it to an old back up.
It is because of this I am reluctant to completely delete itunes off my computer and start again for fear of losing my back ups.
Is there another way to fix iTunes so I can open it again?
    Thanks

Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7  x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even  quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program  files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted  other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start  when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my  PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools  registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my  PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version  anyways.
Easier to download and transfer  music!!!!!
