Problems managing ASM through OEM

Hi imusing 11gr2 on OEL 5.5,
I have ASm configured and up and running, however I cant manage it through OEM.
When ever I try to configure OEM so that I can view anything ASM related it asks for password, ... for example if im logged in a sys into OEM and I click on +ASM on the home page of OEM I get an error saying ..."Down - Some properties of the ASM instance might not be properly configured" ... even though ASm is running
when I click on the configure button and it asks for the password for SYS .. I put in the password and it says "incorrect password/username " .. EVEN THOUGH IV JUST LOGGED IN A SYS WITH THE SAME CREDENTIALS!.
Can anyone help me?

Can anyone help me?Confirm the following things:
- Does the ASM instance have a password file in $ASM_HOME/dbs
- Check if you can connect to the ASM instance directly from the OS prompt, using the sys/<password> as sysoper option
- Since you're using 11.2 it might be that you need to select the SYSOPER option in OEM instead of SYSDBA
On our OEM I can access ASM perfectly ( this is however 11.1 )

Hi, all. Thank for coming here.
My main problem is cannot start Manager server through Node Manager. I've configured with the same way on my friend's network and It's works but It's wrong with mine.

I can ensure that all of these connection pool has configured to run on 9093 port already. Then I view the DOMAIN_NAME/pointbase.log, it said:
Unable to start the server. start server error: java.net.BindException: Address already in use
I cannot understand what's run on pointbase address ?
All of these error make me angry, because I've configured with the same way on other system and It's work. I've spent all of week to fix these bug, but I'm having nothing :((
    Please help me.

    Thank Jay SenSharma.
I've looked for these JAVA_OPTION values you said, but I cant found them. That value is content of JAVA_DEBUG option, not JAVA_OPTION. In my situation, JAVA_DEBUG=" " (it's not set by default).
    Please re-view my error log:

  • Is there a way to manage your discoverer connections other than through OEM

In chapter 6 of the administrator guide of Discoverer Admin it states to manage your Discoverer connections through OEM is there another way to do that other than using OEM.
Help, Our DBA wants to know why I want OEM. I have tried to explain.
    Can you help me?

    Hi
You can create private connections, which are local to your machine and browser. Alternately, you can use SSO connections, provided these are activated by your administrator. Neither of these connections require management via the OEM.

  • Management through OEM???????

I want to manage the database through OEM and would .like to automate few things if possibkle through OEM......plz let me know if these things are possible through OEM in 9i
1.In case my tablespace is more 80% full,I should get an alert(or mail or pager) through OEM????????
2.In case theres an error in alert.log ...I should get an alert(or mail or pager)through OEM ???????
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

you can start by reading the documentation
note that in 10g, all those events (ORA- in alert log, tbs full) are activated per default.
You can probably do that with 9i GUI too, but I have not done it myself.

  • Cannot save formsweb.cfg through OEM

    Hi All,
I am using Enterprise Manager with Oracle Application Server (Forms and Reports services), and cannot save changes to the formsweb.cfg file through OEM.
I can make changes to the file formsweb.cfg manually (with notepad), and the server itself sees these changes, but Enterprise Manager still shows the original settings.
In our application always we need to do change the of .JAR file simenteneously and it will be deployed in Particular user instance.
I initially thought this was a cache problem, and re-booted the host. After the rebooting also i cannot see the manual changes in OEM , but it still refuses to make changes itself.
    Does anybody have any ideas??
    Thanks in Advance!

  • Problem submitting jobs in OEM

    Hi,
I've been trying to utilize backup manager inside the OEM, and finally, I am able to log into OEM, my preferred credentials are set properly to user oracle, my user has been given the logon as batch job privilage.
I've also given my user Full Control to my Oracle Home directory. Prior, I only gave it read/write privilages, and it gave me the error "operating system resource shortage". Now, after Full Control, it tells me "Access is denied".
What have I missed? Is there some addition permissions I need to assign? Please help. I feel like I'm almost there, but as a novice, am missing the last clues.
    Thanks in advance,
    Willis Chang
    Oracle 8.1.7
    Windows 2000 Professional

    Hi Rajkumar,
I can definitely help you with that part. However, you may end up in the same boat as me. Or maybe you might be able to help me figure out my problem afterward.
First, you are supposed to be using an NT (2000) account as your preferred credentials. I hope you already know that.
Secondly, you need to assign that user to the Administrators group and the ORADBA group.
Thirdly, in your problem, you need to go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy
Then you navigate the following tree:
Local Policies > User Rights Management > Logon as a batch job. Assign your user that right, and it should start working. Please post again so that I know if you were successful, as it might help me figure out my problem.
    Thanks,
    Willis

I hope the following is a better description.
After log in to OEM browser located in the OMS server, select a target database instance, which is in the remote machine. The following page has four tabs, Home, Performance, Administration and Maintenance. Select Performance, the next page is Database login form needs following information:

  • Performance tuning through OEM

    Hi,
I am unable to run performance tuning pack through OEM. Initially when i was not connected with any production database it worked. Now whenever i click performance manager, performance manager over view, etc it simply hangs where as diagnositc packs such as oracle expert are all working. I have increased the java_pool_size to 50M from 24M both in the remote database machine and in server but still i unable to run it through remote database machine. I have configured rman in the remote database and taking fullbackup, logical back up through it but the performance pack hangs whenever i run it. I am new to dba. statstical report collected through statspack report gives no idea for me to tune. Please help me what to do in this regard to tune the database.
What are the vital points one has to tune and how to tune it.

    Brain heart,
As you have mentioned that you are new in Tuning so I shall say first is to understand what exactly we are hunting for. Please read Performance Tuning guide frm oracle docs.
You have not mentioned any version for your db so I am assumig 10g.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/toc.htm
Also there is an excellent guide from 9i docs, called Performance Planning also read that one.
And to understand tuning and its various know hows, get these books,
    Optimize Oracle Performance--Carry Millsap
    Oracle Wait Interface --Richmond Shee
    Forecasting Oracle Performance --Craig Shallahamer
These will help you in understanding alot of things which will help for sure.

  • Cleanup job to remove archive logs automatically through OEM Grid control

    Hi All,
I am working on 11gR2 3node RAC database. we have enabled archivelog mode for the databases and don't have any backup processes (like rman) and not using ASM.
Please let me know how to cleanup the old archivelogs automatically through oem Grid control.
I have some idea how to do it in standalone database, but not sure how it works in RAC environment through OEM. Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hari wrote:
Thanks for your reply and The requirement is, put the DB in archive log mode and cleanup the old archive logs which is more than 5days. We are doing this because of space issue and don't have backup for these files and the DB must be in archive log mode.
    I have few question here.
    1. Is it must to take the backup of the archive log files and before delete them? No, but if you aren't backing up, why create the archivelogs in the first place?
    2. If i delete them without backup, what is the negative impact? If you aren't backing up the database in the first place (as you stated in an earlier post) then it really doesn't matter what you do with the archivelogs as they are worthless anyway.
    3. What is the recommended process to do it?My recommendation is you first start using rman to backup the database
    4. I need to setup this process through OEM grid control.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
HariIt all begs the question which has already been asked and you avoided answering . . . if you are not taking backups, why bother archiving? The archive logs have ZERO VALUE outside of a consistent backup strategy. So how is it you have a 'requirement' to run in archivelog mode but no requirement for backups?

  • Manage OC4J via OEM

Can OC4J be managed through OEM? If so, can this be done with a standalong OC4J instance or does the full 9iAS need to be in place?
    Thanks!
    Karen Olszyk

I just spent a week getting one of my oc4j 10221 standalone applications to work with the otn win2k ias903 distribution with oc4j/ohs/mod_ossl/mod_oc4j/oem/webcache.
I get most of the configuration and debugging info from the following links:

Hope you can find what you need from the above links.

  • CPU/PSU Patching through OEM

    hi,
We have large number of database in our environment. So we planned to do the CPU/PSU patching through OEM.
So like to know the feasibility of doing from OEM whether we can or not? and is there any other security issue in doing so.
I mean only with oracle user we can able to do the patching through OEM or we can do with any other user who has privilege.
