  • Monitoring Physical standby database through OEM

    HI ,
    We are monitoring Physical standby database through OEM and we monitor from console using SYS user
    As per our company policy we change our sys password every month so after change it we need to change SYS password from console also
    so is any way we can change SYS password on console using command line utility? if yes then please give us the command
    Thanks

    we monitor from console using SYS userYou have to monitor it using a SYSDBA user not necessarily SYS. So you can create a user e.g. SYS_MONITOR which has different policy than SYS. Although it is best to change that password on regular bases too, maybe every 3 months.
    so is any way we can change SYS password on console using command line utility?I don't get your question. Are you asking if it is possible to change the monitoring username/password using some command line utility? If so, I haven't heard of such tool. But there could be a package like MGMT_TARGET which you can manipulate the credentials if you know how to use it.

    These are the steps to authenticate the user using Operating system.But still i am not able to authenticate user using os.
    Just try it out and let me know if you are able to authenticate.
    1)create user ops$user1 identified by externally;
    2)grant privileges.... to ops$user1;
    3)In pfile edit the following parameter
    os_authent_prefix=ops$
    remote_os_authent=true
    4)restart db;

    Hi DBAs,
    I have setup the Hyperion Planning application (on windows 2003 server 64bit) with Essbase DB and Oracle (10.2.0.3) RDBMS (on Linux 5.3 64bit). I want to monitor the Planning Applicatoin and Essbase DB through OEM Grid Control. I have already installed the agent on Windows and Linux Server. Only able to monitor the Oracle RDBMS.
    Can someone guide me how I can monitor the Essbase DB? Also how can I setup the Hyperion Planning Application with OEM ?

  • How to execute SQL through OEM GC, using different OS user?

    Hi all,
    I have a relatively simple issue, and I'm hoping there's a simple fix. This is all being done on ONE server - so on this server, I have OEM 11.1.0.1.0, the agent, and several 11.2 databases running. The OEM install is owned by the "oem" OS user, while the databases I'm connecting to are owned by a different OS user "oracle". All normal OEM GC operations are working great, just this one issue I am having.
    Through OEM, I am trying to go in and execute some simple SQL statements against a database. When I do this, I am selecting to "Override Preferred Credentials", and I'm putting in the host and database username/pwds. It all works fine, but only if I specify the OS user that owns the OEM install (oem). If I try to put in the OS user that owns the actual Oracle database install (oracle), then it is failing. It is not giving me any error messages, just a red X under "Execution Status", and when I click on it, it just says "(No results available)". Again, when I change the query so that the host credentials are the "oem" user, then it runs fine.
    I am not sure what I need to do, so that it can run the query, but use a different host login? Any thoughts/ideas?
    Thanks!!
    --Brad

    It may be that when Grid logs in using the preferred credentials you've specified that the environment is not being set properly. When you log in interactively as this other user (the owner of the Oracle RDBMS binaries) do you need to manually set environment variables such as ORACLE_HOME or PATH in order to run sqlplus ? Or are they set in the user's .profile? I am assuming that this is a Linux / UNIX system and not Windows.

  • Parameters and database login with Web Services SDK

    I need to know how to do the two most common report tasks through the Web Services interface to Crystal Reports Server 2008:
    How do I get a list of a report's parameters and set the parameter's values?
    How do I set the database login information?
    I have considerable experience with writing custom web interfaces for Business Objects Enterprise with .NET, but now we're supposed to use web services instead of Enterprise services, especially when writing Windows forms apps. The official line is that writing thick client apps using Enterprise services is "possible but not supported." I can't seem to find the equivalent to the .Parameters property in Web Services.
    The tutorials for Web Services aren't much help. The BIPlatform examples show how to schedule a report without parameters and without setting the database login, but this isn't much help in the real world. The ReportEngine tutorial was apparently written by someone else, and is little or no help.
    This seems like such a simple question, but I have wasted an entire day and am no closer to the answer.

    I think the following resources will help:

  • Performance tuning through OEM

    Hi,
    I am unable to run performance tuning pack through OEM. Initially when i was not connected with any production database it worked. Now whenever i click performance manager, performance manager over view, etc it simply hangs where as diagnositc packs such as oracle expert are all working. I have increased the java_pool_size to 50M from 24M both in the remote database machine and in server but still i unable to run it through remote database machine. I have configured rman in the remote database and taking fullbackup, logical back up through it but the performance pack hangs whenever i run it. I am new to dba. statstical report collected through statspack report gives no idea for me to tune. Please help me what to do in this regard to tune the database.
    What are the vital points one has to tune and how to tune it.

    Brain heart,
    As you have mentioned that you are new in Tuning so I shall say first is to understand what exactly we are hunting for.Please read Performance Tuning guide frm oracle docs.
    You have not mentioned any version for your db so I am assumig 10g.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/toc.htm
    Also there is an excellent guide from 9i docs, called Performance Planning also read that one.
    And to understand tuning and its various know hows, get these books,

    Please suggest , what all precautions i need to take to preserve this backup and what steps i need to follow in case i need to recover my database ( Manually or using OEM ).

  • Cleanup job to remove archive logs automatically through OEM Grid control

    Hi All,
    I am working on 11gR2 3node RAC database. we have enabled archivelog mode for the databases and don't have any backup processes (like rman) and not using ASM.
    Please let me know how to cleanup the old archivelogs automatically through oem Grid control.
    I have some idea how to do it in standalone database, but not sure how it works in RAC environment through OEM. Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hari wrote:
    Thanks for your reply and The requirement is, put the DB in archive log mode and cleanup the old archive logs which is more than 5days. We are doing this because of space issue and don't have backup for these files and the DB must be in archive log mode.
    I have few question here.
    1. Is it must to take the backup of the archive log files and before delete them?No, but if you aren't backing up, why create the archivelogs in the first place?
    2. If i delete them without backup, what is the negative impact?If you aren't backing up the database in the first place (as you stated in an earlier post) then it really doesn't matter what you do with the archivelogs as they are worthless anyway.
    3. What is the recommended process to do it?My recommendation is you first start using rman to backup the database
    4. I need to setup this process through OEM grid control.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    HariIt all begs the question which has already been asked and you avoided answering . . . if you are not taking backups, why bother archiving? The archive logs have ZERO VALUE outside of a consistent backup strategy. So how is it you have a 'requirement' to run in archivelog mode but no requirement for backups?

  • Management through OEM???????

    I want to manage the database through OEM and would .like to automate few things if possibkle through OEM......plz let me know if these things are possible through OEM in 9i
    1.In case my tablespace is more 80% full,I should get an alert(or mail or pager) through OEM????????
    2.In case theres an error in alert.log ...I should get an alert(or mail or pager)through OEM ???????
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    you can start by reading the documentation
    note that in 10g, all those events (ORA- in alert log, tbs full) are activated per default.
    You can probably do that with 9i GUI too, but I have not done it myself.

  • Is DB/SE supported for message persistence through OEMS?

    Hi all,
    I'm in the process of designing an high availability configuration for ESB.
    We will use Oracle database RAC for the metadata repository and for message persistence through Oracle Enterprise Messaging Service (OEMS) as well.
    I'm considering to use the Oracle Database Standard Edition (SE) for clustering (Although the license policy for SE not only depends on the number of processor sockets but also on the MCM's since the 1st of May!)
    Does anyone know if the database standard edition is officially supported for message persistence through OEMS?

  • CPU/PSU Patching through OEM

    hi,
    We have large number of database in our environment. So we planned to do the CPU/PSU patching through OEM.
    So like to know the feasibility of doing from OEM whether we can or not? and is there any other security issue in doing so.
    I mean only with oracle user we can able to do the patching through OEM or we can do with any other user who has privilege.

  • Missing DataBase Login information for deployed VS2008 w/Crystal Report

    I'm creating a Windows Form application using VS2008 Pro and the basic Crystal Reports (included).</br></br>
    I've successfully added a crystalreportviewer control and a crystal report (.rpt) to my form. I've written the following code in the code behind to programmatically load/bind the report to the viewer. Everything works fine on my development machine (or any machine that has Visual Studio installed). Where I'm encountering problems is when I deploy the application to a machine that does not have VS installed (I have downloaded and installed the "Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 Redistributable Package" for the appropriate processor type on this non development machine) that I'm getting an error . It prompts for "DataBase Login". The ServerName, LoginID and Password are all there, but the "DataBase" field is empty and disable for user input.</br></br>
    Why is the DataBase information missing? How can I solve this problem?</br></br>

    HI. Ludek,
    Thanks for the tips. I tried both, but the problem presists.
    On a side note, I did get my hands on yet another "non-development machine". This one ran with Window's Vista appeared to work (even with my original code).
    The "non-development machines" that I've tested on are Windows 7 and Window XP machines. On these machines, when I commented out the reportDocument.SetDatabaseLogon line, when I try to load the report, it still prompts for the Database Logon information, however, it also has the "Database name" empty and disabled.
    Since it worked on a non-development machine with Win Vista. I don't think there is a problem with references or the Crystal runtime packages.
    As far as permission for the report to contact the database, I'm guessing there isn't a problem there either because the application does successfully connect to the database.
    I'm connecting to a SQL2005 database and using the SQL Native connection.
    On a side note: as for the enabling prompting, I just remembered that it was an option available when using Crystal Reports with a web project. Thus I couldn't find it here with a Window's Form project.
