Problems migrating entries form OID 9.0.4.0.0 to 10.1.2.3

I have been trying to do this without much luck.
I export from the source directory into an ldif file, run bulkload -check on the ldif file and it reported some duplicate DNs. I tried to delete the duplicates but I didn't see all the duplicates reported. later i just imported as it was and it completed without creating the index which I manually create with error on some tables. After the stage, I couldn't login with orcladmin from the web site and the whole thing got corrupted because OC4J won't start again.
I have re-install whole AS server (infra +midtier) and I want to start afresh with the help of some one who is good in this area. If you can just reply with the steps you will use to migrate everything from OID from a dev to live server, I will appreciate it.

I think upgrading portal to some version levels does not necessarily affect the AS support for forms/reports. For instance, you may be running AS 10.1.2.0.2 and yet may upgrade your portal to 10.1.4.0.0.
If you had liked to go for the latest recommended portal version by Oracle currently (10.1.4.2) you would apply the Patch Set 3 on top
of portal 10.1.4. And yet this Patch Set is applicable to Oracle instances including the Forms and Reports and the BI types for 10.1.2. See the following for reference.

Data entry form problem - form in query-only mode

Hi there,
I am trying to create an data entry form to insert recordacross 2 out of 3 tables. The last of the four tables already have details and does not need to have record inserted into.
This is the scenario, my four tables are Factory, Employee, Works_in. Works_in resolves a many to many relationship between Factory and Employee
Now for a person to be employed in a factory, he must be assigned to a factory.
I have a list of factories already in the database. After choosing a factory from the database, I want to insert records to do with his Fname, Lname, Hiredate bla, bla, bla to the Employee table.
I have a single form with Factory as the master, and 2 tabs each for Employee and Works_in.
After linking all my tables with the ability to choose a factory first on the master form from a combo box and after inserting records into the other forms, it says form running in query-only mode.
What do you think?

I think that's too much of the wrong information.
It sounds like you have multiple forms. Are they Modal or Non-Modal?
What code do you use to call the form that's not working?
Does it work initially and then stop working?

Hotkey (Ctrl+B) is not working after migration from Forms 6i to 10g

Dear Gurus,
Need your help regarding the following problem:
After migrating from Forms 6i to 10g (Rel 2), Ctrl+B (used to list the blocks in a form) hotkey is not working anymore (all other hotkeys are working fine). I've checked my FMRWEB.RES and it contains an entry for Ctrl+B:
66 : 2 : "Ctrl+B" : 70 : "Block Menu"
Additional Information:
OS: AIX
NLS_LANG = UTF8
fmrweb_utf8.res also contains the same text for Ctrl+B as above.
I tried to reproduce it on my Windows Machine (with NLS_LANG set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1) and its not working as well. I don't have right to put move files on AIX server but i can try anything (on my local system) suggested by the Oracle gurus.

Yes, i am dead sure. Since:
(1) It was working fine in forms 6i
(2) If you run a form and select Help => Keys, you will see Ctrl+B on the top of list
The problem is its not taking into account the keys which i am defining in the file (although i am following the same procedure detailed on metalink.oracle.com).

Help: Problem migrating to 9052 or 1012

I have a BC4J/JSP application originally developed in Jdev 902. It has been in production for a while already, and has been migrated all way through 9034 and 9041 (build 1436). This is a relatively simple application, only BC4J is involved, no Stunts, no UIX or anything else. It works pretty well so far. However, I am having problem migrating it into 10g now. I got the same error (see below) with either Jdev 9052 (build 1618) or 1012 (build 1811). It opens (migrated by the Wizard), and compiles without any error. It actually runs and I have got to the login page. And then itâs throws an NoSuchMethodError exception upon login. My application supports dynamic credentials. The debug output indicates that it could not get the internal connection, though the user connection was successful. Any ideals for this error are greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

Unfortunately WLS 6.1 is not supported on Solaris 10. Also as of Nov 14, 2005 WLS 6.1 entered the mature phase and will be no longer supported by BEA.

Strange Problem in Oracle Forms.

Hello,
I have a strange problem of a form not opening in the migrated App Server but is working fine in the existing server.
The problem is that we have now migrated to App Server 10.1.2.3.0 (patch applied to 10gR2 App Server installation) from 9.2.0.4.
The issue is that the same form works perfectly fine in 9.2.0.4 but doesnt open up in the 10.1.2.3.0 server itself !
The form is called using "new_form" procedure.
I even cross checked by giving other form names; they work fine. But this set of forms (for which problem occurs) only doesnt open up.
All the forms are compiled against 10.1.2.3 Compiler; All point to the same OLB and all of them have a common menu bar.
Peculiar thing is WEBUTIL is working for all forms. Version is 1.0.6. No problems in WebUtil.
Please help me making this sole out as we need to migrate this ASAP.

How to populate new record on data entry form based on search results?

I'm new to jdeveloper im using version 11.1.2.1.0.
Usually Im using forms 10g.
I created search panel with table and its working but problem is how to transfer/populate all the field value according to that search result to New data Entry Form
by clicking the table record or a button.
Given :
TABLES,EO
1. PatientMasterIndex
2. PatientTransactionMaster <<---- master
3. PatientTransactionDetail <<-- detail relation
Here the scenario,
After Search of any patient, when i clicked one or more patient (which Jdeveloper allow multi select on jtable) on the table record it should automatically transfer or copied to the text field, i want to show on the form of PatientTransactionMaster like PatientNumber,PatientInsuranceNumber etc. to be save on db as new record, also non database field for view only like patient Name,address,age.
IN forms i can do that by :PatientTransactionMaster.PatientNumber := :blocksearch.PatientSearchNumber ,etc.....
or an item trigger to populate the said PatientTransactionMaster block. ( select .... into :PatientTransactionMaster.PatientNumber,etc....)
Any suggestion,links,sample is highly appreciated.

Do you want to create a detail record that will include some values from your master record??
Or do you want to create a record with values from your Search criteria, only in the case you do not have any results?
if it is the second case.
When do you want to do that? After a press of button? or immediately?
In general you have to handle the values from search criteria.
Additionally, if you use ViewCriteria, you have to have bind variables for your search criteria that you will want to use.
So in general, you have to know the values by using bind variables, understand that the query has no results (This can be done in many ways, depending on your implementation. if you are using a button, you could make a disable condition with iterator.estimatedRowCount property.)
Perform the insert operation with the values from the bind variables.

How to Save State on an Entry Form prior to Submitting the Form?

I want to be able to save the values the user enters to fields on the entry form if they navigate away from the page and come back (without the user clicking the submit button for the form.) For example, one of the input fields has a goLink to go to another page to lookup a field value - when the user returns from the page, all other form field values are cleared. If the user does submit the form by clicking the command button, then all form field values are saved (if the user navigates from the page and comes back, all values are retained.) What I'm trying to do then is somehow save the values (passivate the state) for the field the user has filled in when the user navigates from the page without submitting the form. Any suggestions?
I am using a read-only View Object with all transient values. The VO is configured to passivate state including all transient values. The initial row is created programmatically; there will only be one row for the VO used as an entry form. I am not using a backing bean for the values and would prefer not to use one, but would rather use the VO's capability to passivate state to save the data values. The question then seems to be how to force the VO to passivate state prior to the form being submitted.

Yes. Now I see that is the real problem. Is there anyway to force setting the bindings from the input form field values if the user navigates from the page using a goLink, or commandButton with immediate="true" other than overriding the default FacesPageLifecycle classes?
I'd prefer not to have to do that unless necessary, and, if I over-ride that method, then how could I get it to work normally when the user presses the commandButton at the end of the form and I do want all validation checks to be performed (immediate=false for the form's submit button; immediate=true only for lookup commandButtons used for certain fields)?

1. create transient view object; all attributes marked as always updateable; passivate state=true for VO and all transient values; no key id field selected (will only ever be one row - just using VO to save values that will eventually be used to do an insert to the database);

Primary key issue with adf Entry Form.

Hi All,
i'm using jdev version 11.1.1.5.0
use case: i have create simple entry form based on Eo and Vo using database table like student(enrollment no,name address)
where enrollment no is primary key.
so when i have create a record i have set enrollment no in entity impl class of this eo create method using some logic based on my need like(20130001)
for that i have read highest no from database field and assign to enrollment no field when user create record.
so when user create record second time then enrollment no is 20130002. and other detail like name and address user fill and commit record. and it is fine.
but problem is that when two user access same form at a time and create record so both have get same primary key like 20130003 because in current time in database maximum value is 20130002.
so which user commit record first it record will save on database and second user get error message because of primary key violation.
so my question is that where we generate primary key value for record so when multiple user access form have get different primary key value. and in my use case i can't use sequence and any autoincrement no
because i have patter for primary key.

but when i run form in debug mode and two user commit concurrent manner only one time code block is executed who first commit. and second user got error message.

What can be considered as the business logic of simple data entry form

Hi all,
I want to separate my applications logic into layers. It is a simple data entry form and doesn't contain any complex business logic. So I want to get this simple business logic to different layer. But the problem is, I cannot clearly identify what are business logic of this kind of simple data entry form.
How do I separate business logic of this simple data entry form to another layer?

Suppose that the data comes into your system immaculate from some external system. Imagine that it will go out into some other system. The bits that you would still have to write are your business logic.That's a nice practical definition. Thank you, I'm stealing it.
Also interesting to note that validation falls into that category... say you're recieving data from a magical external source... you still have to validate it.
And of course you'd still have to store it somewhere, ans retrieve it.

Run a report in Forms 9i after migration from Forms 6i

Hi,
I face the following problem:
We do have to migrate from Forms 6i to 9i. In our "old" application, reports where called by using RUN_PRODUCT (in different forms and menues). But to start a report in 9i environment, RUN_REPORT_OBJECT must be used. Does the report has to be an object in the calling form or is it possble to start it as we used to directly from the file system ?

Data entry form to submit to a web Service using webcenter

Currently using Jdev 11.1.1.3, but have potential to upgrade to 11.1.1.4 or 5
Most examples I see in the docs is using web services in webcenter is to display data but I need to pass data to a web service to process the data.
Considering ways to show on a webcenter page a data entry form to send the entered data to a web service. Potential ways:
1. Use Omniportlet that is based on a web service and define for each of the fields a parameter mapped to a displayed field. Submit the data to the web service to be processed.
2. Use ADF syntax to create a web service proxy. Create a form with the needed fields, code a managed bean that uses the proxy code to submit the entered data in the form. Place the form on the webCenter page, but the webcenter already have a <af:form>, so a partialSubmit and autoSubmit set to "true" might be needed.
Haven't used either and would greatly appreciate ideas and suggestions.

With the omniportlet, you'll also have to test the form and so on :)
My suggestion is indead an extra step but it is more flexible than just creation a DC from a WSDL. I already have done some implementation in Webcenter for web services and i started by just using the DC from a WSDL but soon i noticed that i needed more flexibility. That's why i suggest to create a proxy and create your own layer in front of it. This way you can easily control what you expose to your DC and do some initializations were needed. It offers a great deal of flexibility. That's why i suggest using the proxy + dc instead of wsdl + dc.
When you should decide for migrating to Webcenter PS3, you can even expose datacontrols to your resource catalog. This way you can create your DC in JDeveloper and allow the business users to put the data controls on the page. a realy nice feature.

Hierarchical tree - Data Entry Form

I am trying to make a data entry form for hierarchical tree. Any one help me to send a sample .fmb file.

It got worked.
I have another problem now. I have 2000 records in my tree. when i populate it is taking time to populate.
I want to display only parent trees ie Level 1 & 2 Items. But the Level 1 & 2 should have '+' symbol to display.
When the user click on any items in level 2, only then the child of the selected parent should populate.
By default all the items are displayed in collapsed mode (-1). But still it take time to populate.
Any solution ?.

How do I create a data entry form in Numbers for Macbook Air?

Ever since I switched to the Mac over a decade ago, I've been puzzled by why Apple gives the keyboard interrupt such low priority. When the computer gets busy, keystrokes start to lag. Sometimes, rarely, they are even lost.
The computer gets very busy with Flash websites. If you have several Safari Windows or Tabs running with Flash animation, the fans will start to rev up, a laptop will start to warm your legs (ok in the winter) and your keyboard will lag.
The computer also gets busy when you are editing a large Numbers iWork '09 document. Large for Numbers '09 is not really very big compared to many Excel documents that we are used to seeing in a business setting. This is because Numbers '09 constantly recalculates the document as you type. It doesn't wait for you to finish an entry, it just gets busy recalculating. They tried to address this recalculation problem in iWork '13 (Version 3).
In general, your spreadsheet work will go better if Numbers is the only app you have running. At least close windows, tabs and apps that you aren't using.
One lsat thing is your Free Memory. If you are short on RAM, Restarting your computer will free-up memory by releasing allocations for apps that you may have closed earlier. This is a pain, so it's best to install as much RAM as your computer will hold.

Adding multiple entries thru OID's ldapadd command

Look at the ldif file below, which is meant to create two entries in OID using ldapadd command.

This works thru OID's ldapadd command, only if I keep one entry at a time. Otherwise it gives the following error.
$ ./ldapadd -h iam.patt -p 3060 -D cn=orcladmin -f /home/kabi/software/micam/ldap/temp.ldif
ldapadd: missing value on line 3 (attr is cn: Groups)
What is wrong here ?

Hi Kabi,
The same syntax - changing only the container for the groups - works fine for me with ldapadd. Not sure what the problem could be, but do you get the same results with neutral names like "cn=test1" and "cn=test2"?
