Problems modifying speed

I'm new to the forums, new to apple macs in fact.
I am currently learning how to use FCE on my IMAC and am suffering a few difficulties: -
1. I have just tried to capture a sunset timelapse which has captured across about 15 different files. I have changed the setting which stops it aborting capture on dropped frames but the problem continues, anyone have any ideas? I am capturing in HD btw.
2. When I speed up any of the clips (im trying to speed up by 8,000%) it plays it back correctly for about 2 secs before it freezes then there is no motion picture at all on the canvas and the needle just skips across the timeline. Could anyone tell me what i am doing wrong here? It seems to work when I don't speed it up so much but I obviously lose the impact of my great sunset!

I am using an Apple iMac - Processor 2.66 Ghz, Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory - 2 GB 800 MHz SDRAM
with a Sony Z5E Camcorder connected through firewire.
In FCE I am using it in HDV Formate on Pal (same as the camera) on Apple Intermediate codec 1080i50
on OS I am on 10.5.6.
on Quicktime im on version 7.6
I will say though I have suffered the same problem before using my other camera which is a sony dcr hc90e connected through firewire (I had changed the FCE settings according to advice from one of the mac pro's)
I have tried rendering the clip however this hasnt resolved it but thanks for the suggestion =)
Is there an error in my settings perhaps?

Modifying Speed

I'm trying to modify a plethora of clips in FCP for speed.
I need to synchonize the video to the audio, by altering the speed.
But when I go to Modify > Speed... and change the setting the frame rate is the only thing that looks changed and it's always choppy
Is there any way to modify the speed and not have a loss in frame rate? I can't even see the video using this utility it's skipping about 300 frames in between. I need to not only see it but make fine very adjustments...
Is there a "destructive" and more permanent way of Modding the speed of a clip?

Custom Hardware Fan Control - problem if speed pin not connected?

Hi There,
I am planing to install a hardware fan control (poti) to my MacPro 1.1 rear fan. (because I have a defective northbridge temperature sensor and the fan is running at maximum speed... so i thought of slowing it down with a fan control for the pci slots)
I read that the pinning of the Fan is: Gnd, 12V, Speed, Control Pin (analog Voltage)
So when i would attach a fan control (just a poti) between some +5v and the Control Pin I think I should be able to control the fan manualy - am i right?
But then the speed signal is not the speed the mac pro fan control software think of... so would it be a problem e.g. if i disconnect the speed pin from the mainboard fan connector?
what would happen then? is the mac pro powering up the other fans for some kind of failsafe?
Or have you other suggestions how I can lower the speed of the rear fan manually?

Take a look at the project some have undertaken to go with water block.
Send the motherboard in to have a 'skilled' electrician? repair the board perhaps.
4 fans, 3 under the control of SMCFAnControl utility. Maybe disable the one fan and make up for it with your own fan and running the others efficiently.
There are also VGA copper coolers.
FBDIMMs bleed heat: maybe the RAM fan cooler kit in there to deal with large source of heat. New higher density DIMMs are better made and few DIMMs = less heat even if 4GB.
Use ice packs, dry ice and liquid nitrogen to super cool :-)

Problems modifiing field data

I am having a problem using SetProperty to modify fields in a multipage pdf file.
First i use xmpMeta.DumpObject ( DumpCallback, sLogFile );
to dump the existing data to a terminal window.
At first run this works fine and i get the existing value set in the Category field of the "Categories" Panel.
Next i use xmpMeta.SetProperty ( kXMP_NS_Photoshop, "Category", "2" );
to change the value of a field and then call xmpFile.PutXMP ( xmpMeta ); to save the file.
When i open the file again in my test application the data is empty when doing the dump to the terminal window.
If I open it in acrobat, however, the data is there. I am some how corrrupting the data when wrtiting it. Can anyone help quide me as to what I may be doing wrong?

Aironet 1261 AP Problem with speed.

Hi guys,
I appreciate I am not Cisco trained and probably should have never purchased such a piece of kit, but my SMB run from home needed stability so I thought I would try to enter the world of Cisco.
I have spent the week setting up the Aironet AP 1261, Standalone, Power through traditional adapter, 2.4ghz only. 1261 being single band.
I have researched each setting and option as much as possible but I am still only getting 65mbps max, I believe I should be able to achieve 144mbps with this hardware. Is that correct?
I have used a combination of the web interface and IOS via Telnet. (being a server administrator using SSH, Telnet was ok for me to pick up quickly).
I understand I need WAPv2, with AES CCM Encryption on an Open Security network in order to achieve the speed I am after. These are all applied as far as I can tell.
WMM is the problem for me. (Also a requirement I understand). The thing is I have found WMM in two locations.
1. Under the Network interface setup, which seems to related to the World Mode Management. (off, legacy and dot11d).
2. WMM is also Wifi MultiMedia. Which is on.
I can only choose Legacy for the WMM in place 1 I mentioned, as the Country Codes are not populated which means I am unable to select dot11d.
Any help appreciated getting me to 144mbps.
If you also spot anything else dodgy with my amateur attempt of the config I love to know

The HTC one is an 802.11ac device with a single spatial stream. In order to get faster than 72Mbps you need to use wider channels which are only available in 5Ghz.
If you had a 1262, you could set the dot11radio 1 to 40Mhz channel and that would enable 144. Moving to 802.11ac you can go to 80Mhz channels for even faster rates.
Since you have a 2.4Ghz only AP, you will be limited to 72 with this client.

Problem Modify and optimize an application

We have problem using modify application and optimize application on a specific application.
The application name is GPFormat.
When we do a modify application and choose "Reassign SQL Index" we get the following errror message:
Error message:: Cannot drop the index 'dbo.tblFACTGPFormat.IX_tblFACTGPFormat', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.
And if we do an optimize application with "Full Optimize" and "Compress database" we get the following errror message:
Error message:There is already an object named 'CONSTTBLFACTGPFORMAT' in the database.
Could not create constraint. See previous errors.
We using BPC 5,1 SP5 and SQL2005

It seems a previous run of optimize with compress was failing.
So you have to rename CONSTTBLFACTGPFORMAT table and make sure that installation user
of SAP BPC has the correct access regarding table tblFactGPFFormat.
Are you using custom indexes for this table?
I suggest to drop the existing cluster index for table tblFactGPFormat and after you have to run another optimize with compress. This should fix all your problems.

Having problem with speed of podcast ios5

I have just noticed this morning when I started to listening to a podcast on my ipad 1 64gb 3g with IOS5 that now it only play in 1/2 speed and the control to affect the speed (like in the past 1/2 - 1X - 2X ) is no longer visible.
This is a serious problem, i usually listen to my podcast a 2X so listening at half the speed is painful and useless.
Any work around to at least put them in normal speed?

Thanks, i just did before writing this post this morning, we should allways report problem like this with feedback, was just hoping for a work around in the meantime.
Was i've remember is that the feature is also ( or was) offered in audiobooks, the problem is that i don't have an audiobook in my ipad at this moment and it seem we can get all the music we purchased from the cloud right now, but not the audiobooks.
I'll have to wait to be back home to test this. If i can affect the speed of an audio book maybe the speed will "stick" and will stay identical to it when i play back a podcast.
Let's just hope.
I'll update after i try.

Problem With Speed

Hi, I have a problem with my download speed. Before (couple months ago) my connection was just fine and my download speed was 2.3MB/s (Speed Before) and now my download speed the fastest it goes is 400KB/s mainly 300+ (Speed Now), so what may be the cause? And does the old broadband box 1.0 affect the speed in any way and can I change it to a newer one?

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results .
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Problem with speed change in Twixtor Pro

Using Twixtor 5.0 and After Effects CS6, and I'm struggling with a situation where keyframing the Speed% change causes the slow frames to freeze for several frames at a time.
What works:
Drop clip into new comp
Enable Time-remaping, and extend the length of the comp to a good minute or so longer than source clip
Add Twixtor Pro to clip layer (appears to behave the same if you drop this comp into another clip and apply to that)
Set frame rate to match comp's (and clips)
Set speed% to something low, like 5.
Clip plays back nice and smooth and slow, every frame is interpolated.
What doesn't work:
Repeat above steps... up to 5
Set a keyframe for speed% to 1000
Advance playhead ahead a second, set another keyframe to maintain speed
Move several frames, set keyframe for speed% to 5
When I playback the clip, after the last speed change, instead of nice smooth motion, I get a still frame, then several identical frames, then it jumps again to the next incremental frame, and so on – with NO smooth interpolated frames. The result, as you can guess, is quite jerky.
If you trash all the keyframes and just leave the speed change to 5, it plays totally smooth. Which is just great, except for the fact I want to actually animate it.
Has anyone encountered this?
In the meantime as a backup, I'm using Timewarp, but I would love to sort this out.

Hi Rick, I appreciate your persistence to help. That's definitely another way to use the plugin which I've never used in the past, but does eliminate the need to enable time-remapping. Certainly not as common as the majority of the tutorials out there, including Re:Vision's own.
For the sake of argument I tried this approach, but unfortunately the problem persists. Out of curiosity, were there specific problems you avoided by using the solid method vs applying directly to the footage?
If I can dig up my serial numbers I will install the CS6 update as instructed. I'll definitely update this post if I get any positive results.
UPDATE:
I'm pleased to say upgrading to 5.1.5 fixed the problem!

Export Problems with Speed/Duration

Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to working with video and i'm learning Premiere CS5 at the moment.
I've imported my video, rendered scenes from Cinema4d and composited in After Effects.
I exported at PAL DV 720x576 25fps.
Anyhow, i've brought it into Premiere and added a soundtrack and have been playing around with cuts and
changing the speed and duration of some parts and reversing other sections.
I've exported it using the Mov - PAL DV Widescreen option and all was fine until about the 6th or 7th
export test. Now all of a sudden the parts of the movie that have speed changes or time changes are
coloured blue? They look like they're negative for some reason?
I've done some tests exporting directly as H.264 and things seem ok.
I've even created a new sequence using the same video and did a reverse and time change on it
and it exports fine.
I can't understand what the problem is. The preview is fine but now even the .Mov icon is blue! lol
Any advice please guys?

Problem Modifying the reports

I changed the name of my Business Model in Admin tool.
Now whenever I'm trying to modify my previous reports, I'm not able to access the columns there and it gives me the following message on the left.
"Either you do not have permission to use the subject area "ABC" within Answers, or the subject area does not exist."
Please help

This is a problem that I believed Oracle fixed with 10.1.3.4.
In previous versions, you will need to replace the columns. (An alias is created so if there is no change to the design, the reports would run fine. But when you try to make modifications to the design is when the problem occurs.)

Problem modifying language text attribute in a style

Hello out there,
I seem to be getting a strange side effect when I modify the language text style in paragraph styles. The other styles which are not modified seem to lose their ability to modify text to which they are applied, at least the way they use to.
For example, if I start out in English:USA with four paragraph styles all based on the root paragraph style and then modify paragraph styles 1, 2 and 4 to be Spanish:Castilian, leaving style 3 to remain in English:USA, style 3 starts acting like it was changed to Spanish:Castilian, even though I can clearly see that it remains in English:USA from within the style's editing dialog. Note that I have left style 3 completely untouched, as well as the root style ("No Paragraph Style"). It's like some local override has been turned on permanently, unknown to style 3 because when it is applied to either English or Spanish locally overrided text, it shows no plus sign next to it in the style palette. Nevertheless, the styles I did change to Spanish:Castilian will show a plus sign if applied to text that is locally overrided with English:USA.
I have not touched any text, I am just manipulating paragraph styles. Do I need to do anything special to the text of the document as well? This completely baffles me because as far as I can see, I have done all that the documentation says to do. I am using IStyleUtils to create the edit style command. Is there a problem with that? Do I have to set up the command myself? Is there some idiosyncracy with the Language text style that I should be aware of?

We are enhacing the tcode vfx3 report adding new fields. At this point we have added 2 fields (netwr and mwsbk) by the use of a user exit. Everything is ok.
Now we want to add a new field(mrnkz 'char 1'), the steps we follow are the same as we followed before, but now it is not working properly.

We are having problems when the value of lwa_struct-mrnkz contains a 'X'. In this case, the modify throws an exception. When the value of lwa_struct-mrnkz isn't a 'X', the line is modified properly. The exception thrown is:
"Object SDBLBDDL of class RE and language EN does not exist. "
How can i solve this problem? Is this a documentation problem?.

Problem Modifying ALV Field Catalog

Hi,
One grid of my ALV report displays material numbers as 0100.2000. But when I use method FILE_SAVE_DIALOG to save ALV report to Excel, the material number changes to 100.2.
I have tried modifying my field catalog as shown at end of this message, but it doesn't change the output in Excel.
Does anyone have a fix for this problem? I will award points! - Beth

If you want to save any data like 0100.2000 in the excel, you need to write it as Number with decimal places 4, so it will take 4 decimal places . coming to your ALV, you need to pass the same structure to the Excel i mean the passing variable should be lilke Number with 4 decimal places ..
