Problems on Terminal Service

Dear friends,
Here we have a server running Widows Server 2003, and users access the server through Terminal Services.
What happens is that the new update to Flash Player, users without administrator permissions, you can not install this update, and even giving them the proper permissions and installing the plugin, when it returns to normal acounts the flash reader does not work.
Before anything I thank who can help.

One more clue: the message from the exception shows that the global variables I'm using to configure the MySQL connection parameters are not set somehow. Maybe I need to upgrade my Zend Framework?
Nope. I upgraded to the latest Zend Framework and it still did not work. The global variables are not working. When I hard coded the connection parameters into the constructor of the GetPlayData class, then it worked fine. I just switched to using define() to create constants instead of using the globals and that worked, too.
It is as if globals set in one include file are not available in another include file. I agree that using them might be a bad programming practice of sorts, but it seems wrong to disallow / not support something that is part of the core language!
So, I don't know if this is a Windows 7 thing or just a general behavior. Globals within the same file seem to work fine still, but not from another include file.
So the answer for me is to not use these cross-include file globals in code that is going to be used from Flash Builder.

  • Problem with Terminal Service Performance Counters in WMI on Windows Server 2008 SP2

I'm always getting Errors in the WMI Subsystem. The two classes Win32_PerfFormattedData_TermService_TerminalServices and Win32_PerfRawData_TermService_TerminalServices are not found by WMI.
According to KB2512451 classes Win32_PerfRawData_TermService_TerminalServices  and Win32_PerfFormattedData_TermService_TerminalServices have been renamed in Windows Server 2008 SP1.
Unfortunately in the WMI system they are still referenced, which produces Errors as you can see in the following log file.

How can I get rid of these two errors in the WMI system?

    Hi Markus,
Did you refer to following KB and check if that HotFix will help you.
The WMI repository is corrupted on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista
Meanwhile, please check system log file if find some clues.
By the way, did you install all necessary updates on the server 2008?
If any update, please feel free to let me know.

  • Problem Launching BPC for Excel in Terminal Services/Citrix Environment

    Hello.
We are having an issue launching BPC in our terminal services/citrix environment. This is not the main way that users will be accessing BPC, but we plan to have it available for off-hours/off-site use.
Here are details on our environment.
    1) BPC version: 5.0.502 (5.1, SP3, patch 4)
    2) Env: 1 web/app server, 1 database server
    3) SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, SP2
    4) Problem occurs sporadically for any user.
In some instances, launching BPC for Excel does not bring up the connection wizard, instead, an error message displays saying "Object Variable is not set". We then logoff, delete the terminal services profile, and logon again, forcing the creation of a new terminal services profile, and BPC for Excel will launch the connection wizard as expected. So it seems that the terminal services profile sometimes gets corrupted. Does someone know which Windows registry key would cause this situation so we can determine the root problem? Deleting the profile is not a practical permanent solution. This is only an issue in terminal services/citrix, no other environment.
I opened this with support, but they said it's my problem. I'd appreciate any ideas to solve this. Thanks, Nancy

    Hello,
I have exactly the same problem too (Citrix / BPC 7.0M SP6 Client).
Do you have a solution regarding this issue ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Firstly, have you check the printer spooler service is started?
Check the latest printer driver is installed on server?
Apart from this you can check basic printer redirection requirements must be there for successful printer redirection.
    -  RDP 7.0 or above
    -  .Net Framework 3.5 or above
    -  If you connect over RD Gateway, ensure that the policy that disables printer redirection is turned off.
    -  GPO setting "Use Print printer driver first” must be set to “Enabled” for Easy Print redirection, and it has to be “Disabled” for Legacy Print.
    More information.

  • Windows server 2008 terminal service problem

    Dear Sir,
could you please tell me how to input chinese characters which is using the Penpower application in a Windows server terminal services. I cannot input chinese even though I use the "Quick" input method. thank you for your kindly assistance.
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Are you using RemoteApp as your pen power application?
If you want the session to use the default keyboard layout stored in the user profile instead of the layout provided by the Terminal Server client after the user logs on to the Terminal Server computer, you can set the IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout registry value
to 1. After users first connect to the Terminal Server computer, configure the default keyboard layout and input language that you want, and then log off. All later user logons will use the default keyboard layout and input language from the profile.
To do so, please perform the following steps:
    1. On the terminal server, click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
       HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
    3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry information:
    Value name: IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout
    Data type: REG_DWORD
    Value data: 1
    4. Quit Registry Editor.
After you first connect to the Terminal Server computer, configure the default keyboard layout and input language that you want, and then log off. All later user logons will use the default keyboard layout and input language from the profile.
    Hope it helps!

  • Field explorer does not open on my terminal services profile

    Dear Sirs,
For some reason I am unable to open my field explorer in any crystal report on my terminal services profile. I have checked with other profiles and the problem does not exist. The problem is specific to my profile. I can also create new reports and access fields however if I use the filed explorer button I cannot access fields, parameters or formulas from there. Problem just started this morning. We have been using crystal reports X1 for last 12 months. Would it be a terminal server issue?
I would appreciate whatever help you can give me.

  • How to change path of Users Terminal Services Profile for multiple AD users on server 2003?

Hello experts. I am working on a file server migration. All data has been migrated, I am currently working on redirecting users to the new file server. I
am able to select multiple users at once in ADUC -> right-click -> properties -> profile and here I can change the home folder and roaming profile path for each all users to point towards the new file server.
The issue I have run in to is that we have roaming profiles for terminal services users. So, there are hundreds of users that have their terminal services profile
configured in AD -> Right-click user (one at a time) -> properties -> terminal services profile. Here, the profile path is configured for each user as \\OLDserver\Profiles\%username%
and I need to change it to \\NEWserver\profiles\%username%.
I know that you can configure this path via group policy, I set up a GPO; Computer / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Terminal Services / “Set Path
for TS Roaming Profiles” as \\NEWserver\profiles and applied this GPO to an OU containing the TS servers.
The problem is, the GPO is not working... When I log in to the TS and add a document to My Documents, it is still saving under \\OLDserver\profiles\Username.
So, the settings in AD are trumping the GPO I believe. What is the best way to accomplish my goal? Thanks in advance!

    > to change it to \\NEWserver\profiles\%username%.
That is "profile" in opposite to...
    > add a document to My Documents, it is still saving under
    > \\OLDserver\profiles\Username.
...this one which is Folder Redirection and has NOTHING to do with
    server based profiles.
    > So, the settings in AD are trumping the GPO I believe.
No, it isn't. When you do not enable FR and you access "Documents", you
will never see an UNC path but the local c:\users\xyz\documents folder.

  • P1566 and Terminal Services.

I have a 64 bit 2008 server running terminal services,
A client with windows xp 32 bit and HP LaserJet P1566 printer attached to it.
When connecting via RDP to the server the printer is mapped though to TS and appears on the printer list.  How ever when printing it comes up saying that it is not possible to print.( this message is on the server)
The server is using the Terminal Server Easy Print driver.
As far as I am aware Microsoft recommend not using host based printers and HP say that it is compatible (but is this directly connected to server or passed through the RDP client?)
has anyone manged to connect on of these printers, or are host based printers just NO GO areas when connecting though an RDP client?
Other PCL5e based printers recieve the print jobs in the Local Queue (Client) from the Terminal Services Clients
    Many Thanks for you help.
    Malcolm.

We have now investigated further and it looks like we have found a solution.
If the following group policy key is set to enabled/disabled the system configured to use the terminal server easy print.
    computer policy/administrative templates/windows components/terminal services/printer redirection/Remote Desktop Easy Print Driver First
By changing the key to "not configured"   the printer then listed the P1566 driver instead of the Easy Print Driver.
If this key was set to Disabled one would have expected it to try the correct driver before easy print, but this was not the case.
Hope this helps a few others of you with a similar problem.

  • Sun Ray Windows Connector Terminal Services licenses issue

    Hi!
I've installed the latest Sun Ray 4 09/07 as well as the Windows Connector (srwc) recently released on a machine. I've followed the instructions given in the installation guide. But when 'uttsc' is executed I received the following error message.
"No Terminal Services licenses are available"
I have no issue in connecting to other Windows server (say windows-02) only to this particular Windows server (windows-01). Surprisingly, I have no problem 'uttsc'-ing to windows-01 using pre-existing Sun Ray 4. Any idea why and how to resolve this?
    Appreciate anyone who responds. Thanks.

  • USB P1505 not printing properly via Terminal Services

I have problem printing to these printers via terminal services.  Other pinters print fine but these guys either print intermittently or not at all.  I have installed the latest drivers on the TS and the clients.  Sometimes sessions will be created and jobs would just remain in the queue or take a very long time to print.  They are the USB and not the N models.
    Any ideas?
    Win2k3 server
    Win2k Pro/WinXP clients

The router is Zylex, the printer is an hp deskjet 3512. I first used the disk that came with the printer that did not work, so I uninstalled and downloaded off of this site thinking maybe it would be a more updated version. That did not work either. I have done all of the other troubleshooting that I have found on this site through other forums I unplugged the router, checked countless times to make sure the password and network were correct.
My main issue at this point in time is that it will not print properly at all. I dont know if I need to download something to make it work. I am a full time student, work full time, and have children. I need my printer to work when I hook it up to usb, I dont have time to for all of these problems that I have had with this printer. I am actually in need of something printed at this very moment and my library is closed which is where I have had to go and pay .25 a page to print anything. So Please help!!!!

  • Harden Server 2008 R2 Terminal Services

I found an article to harden Terminal Services on Windows 2008 R2,http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc264467.aspx, but there are a couple of things that I am not clear about.
As I am working through this in my test environment I had a couple of questions.
First with the Network Level Authentication enable I want to verify that what I did worked.  I was having some weird problems with the check box grayed out so I created a GPO with the following settings under Polices\Administrative Templates\Windows
    Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Security:
Set client connection encryption level:  Enabled High Level
    Require secure RPC communication: Enabled
Require use of specific security layer for remote (RDP) connections: Enabled SSL
Require user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication: Enabled
With those items set how can I verify that NLA is working and that the communication is secured with my CA issued certificate?
The other question I have is with the Single Sign-On GPO settings.  I know what the settings are based on the above mentioned article, but it does not say whether it should be applied to the clients or the server and of course a good way to test
    based on the GPO application.
Thanks in advance, I just want to make sure this is done right.
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
Thank you for your post in Windows Server Forum.
Can you elaborate the issue which you are facing with NLA check box grayed out?
You can try to check the connection for the local user to check whether he can bale to login the system without adding the user to NLA authentication.
In regards to the Single Sign On setting must be applied to client side, as it’s display in the article that need to do on windows vista. Please refer below article for information regarding SSO.

  • ADS+Terminal Services on a Single Physical Server running Windows Server 2008 R2

We have a Dual Processor Server (2 x Intel Xeon E5-2620v2 + 32GB RAM) running on Windows Server 2008 R2. This has ADS configured. We now wish to add a VDI Setup with NComputing Zero-Clients. We have to run Terminal Services with User RDS CAL + User
    CAL for all VDI Clients.
Please confirm if we can have both the ADS & Terminal Services running on the same physical server ? Are there known issues or crashes due to this ? Or should both these run on two different servers ? Customer does not want to invest in one more server
& OS. Hence, we have to run both the services on a single physical server. Customer has just upgraded his server to a Dual Processor with 32GB RAM to accommodate both the services.
Please advice, if we can run both the ADS & TS on the same server. What is the best practice for this Solution ?
    Thanks & Regards,

    ([email protected])

    Hi,
After referring your comment I can say that, you can able to use ADS and Terminal service on same physical server with server 2008 R2. But installing a terminal server on an Active Directory domain controller is not recommended. I suggest that it’s not a good
practice to manage the environment in that way. If possible, then try to run on two different machines for better result and to avoid any problem. Allowing users to run programs on a domain controller could create security risks and performance issues.
If the Terminal Server role service is installed on a domain controller, the security settings of the domain controller will need to be adjusted to allow user’s remote access to the server. This remote access is controlled by the "Allow log on through Terminal
Services" user rights assignment, which can be configured by using the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
You can refer below link for more information.

  • Session control via terminal services

I have an application running like a dream using JSP and server side session control. One paricular user has an environment where all PCs are linux based and running a terminal service from a Microsoft SBS server.
These PCs are unable to maintain session when connection to the site.
Has anywone hit this problem before, is the any setting in the Microsoft to help this?
    Thanks for your help

I have checked that cookies are enabled. I can
implement URL rewiting but I was hoping for a simple
solution without needing to change the software. As
all other users are not having a problem.Maintaining a session involves passing an identifier between the client and the server. The identifier can be maintained on the client as a cookie, or the web component can include the identifier in every URL that is returned to the client. So clearly for whatever reason this is not happening. You need to either fix your application so URL rewriting is supported or find out why cookies are not working properly for these clients.

  • Installation issues with JRE, Auto Update, win 2008 and terminal services

    Hello,
We have seven Windows 2008 servers running Terminal Services in one TS farm. I have approximately 600 users accessing these servers. We have a need for the Java JRE. The JRE is to be installed on each of the seven servers since the user has no input into which server they log on to (round robin / load balancing)
There are several issues that have occurred with this installation. I install the JRE on each of the servers when there is no one logged on. I turn off both of the update features while installing as administrator. When the users log on, however they are at some point prompted for an admin password to update Java. The users have no need to update java as all updates will be performed by the system admin. Additionally, when the user runs any app that uses the Java plug-in, they get a folder put on their desktop labeled Sun.
Are there special instructions for installing Java when using Terminal Services and Windows 2008? As you can well see, 600 calls to the help desk asking about this update popup is not productive and accessing 600 users accounts and turning off the auto update on an individual basis is not practical. The user cannot disable this update anyway. They options are grayed out at the user level.
If this is not the proper forum to ask these question, please forward this message to the proper department or let me know who I should/could contact to resolve these issues.
    Best regards,
    Bob

When the users login the terminal server picks up there local timezone from the machine they are logging in from and apply's it to there terminal server session. The problem is when the jre is launched it is picking up the server timezone, not the timezone from the users session(which is different).
    Does this clarify it?Nope.
Either the user is running the jre or the server is. Or maybe both. Seems like all of those are possible from your explanation.
It doesn't matter what the jre is running. What matters is who runs the jre.
Best I can suppose your situation is as follows.
    - The server, not a user, is running a jre with one or more applications.
    - The users use something, probably a browser, to access that server app (it doesn't even matter that it is java in terms of what the users are doing.)
If and only if that is your situation then you MUST pass information from the browser session to the server (java or anything else for that matter) and you MUST use that information in the server code to display time information.
