Problems ripping postscript files with cs4/no bleed?

I have having a problem ripping high res files to postscript and distilling not showing the crop marks, bleeds or any printer marks. On the export these are checked properly. A normal pdf export from CS4 works fine, but when I rip to ps and distill the marks are gone. I appreciate any help.

Is it possible you're just not printing to the right size page? What
page size is your ID document, and what page size is your PDF?
Why are you printing and distilling instead of just exporting PDF?

  • Problem Creating Postscript File with FrameMaker 7.2

    My usual book easily goes more than 500 pages with lots of graphics (eps) and text. I am trying to create pdf. My problem is I am unable to print book in one shot - always received error messages. If I break the book and print selected files, I am able to create the postscript files. (I need to break into 5 to 6 postscripts files). But by doing this I lost the link to my TOC when I combine the files into 1 pdf file.
    Have anyone encounter this problem before? Any suggestion? (I am using FrameMaker 7.2 and Distiller 6.0).

    The plugins for JBuilder only worked on JB 5 as far as I can recall.  In any case, the plugins for JBuilder are no longer supported (I think).  If you want plugin support, please use Eclipse or the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (based on Eclipse 2.1).  If you don't need plugin support, then you can use the Ant build scripts that are supplied with the PDK.

  • How do I print to a postscript file with InDesign CS6 without both extensions, .indd.ps?

    How do I print to a postscript file without an .indd extension in InDesign CS6? I choose Print, choose a print preset from my print shop and Save. The first time I tried it was blank (the Hide Extension was checked), so I tried to save and got a dialog box that said it cannot be saved as an .indd file (duh), to choose both or .ps. I chose .ps and it was fine, but every time I postscripted it gave me this dialog box until I unchecked Hide Extension. After I did that, every time I postscript it automatically saves both extensions. Not a big deal but it is annoying. I just want it to end with .ps like it used to. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks!!

    I have no idea but I am incredibly curious...why are you doing this?
    Printing to postscript is a completely archaic workflow. Export to PDF
    instead.

  • How to output a postscript file with .ps extension name in jsp?

    Hi,
    I could use a servlet to output a postscript file with .ps file extension name. But I tried to do the same with jsp, for some reason, jsp always outputs a file with .jsp extension name though the content is postscript. Could anyone help me on this? Here is my jsp code:
    <%@page contentType="application/postscript"%>
    <%@page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    <%@page import="java.util.*" %>
    <%@page import="java.io.*" %>
    <jsp:useBean id="corresv" class="oiintranet.CorresVBean" scope="request"/>
    <%
    response.setContentType("application/postscript");
    String corresId = request.getParameter("Id");
    corresv.setCorresId(corresId);
    PrintWriter output = response.getWriter();
    output = corresv.getResult(output);
    output.flush();
    %>
    In the bean corresv:
    public class CorresVBean extends BaseBean {
    private String corresId;
    public void setCorresId(String s) {
    this.corresId = s;
    public PrintWriter getResult(PrintWriter output) {
    //get postscript file content from a socket, one string line each time until reaches "X_END"
    String str;
    while ((str = in.readLine()) != null) {
    if (str.equals("X_END")) break;
    output.println (str);
    output.close();
    }catch(Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    return output;
    Thank you in advance.

  • I can't use some .avi files with CS4

    I have 2 computers. One with W7 64 bits and PP CS5 and a laptop with Vista 32bits, so I had to install PP CS4 provided with Adobe CS5-5 production premium.
    I have a problem with CS4 (as it works with my CS5): some.avi files are not read by CS4 as some other (.avi, .mp4, .m2ts) are read! I can install the file on the timeline, but only the sound is read, no pictures!
    I'm not a specialist in computer, neither in Premire Pro, and my english is very bad (Yes, I know, I'm french...) ! Any idea of what to do, please ?
    Thank you so much.

    I agree with Jim. Knowing what is inside those AVI files, that are faulting, will likely tell the tale.
    This article goes into a lot more detail on AVI (and MOV, etc.) as a "wrapper:" http://forums.adobe.com/thread/440037?tstart=0
    It is what's inside, that matters. It might be as simple as just installing the proper CODEC, or it might be that the CODEC used, is a delivery-only CODEC, like DivX, Xvid, and some others.
    Good luck, and please let us know a bit more.

  • CS5 installed cant associate file with CS4

    Not totally a photoshop only question cause it is happening with all the CS suites.
    What happened:
    Have CS4 on a iMac running 10.5.8 this is the main program we are all using in shop. The apprentice here need CS5 installed to do her course so we installed it on the machine
    Now we do not want her to do inhouse work in CS5 as her machine is the only one with it.
    Tried to associate illustrator indesign & photoshop files to CS4 but the system keeps defaulting back to CS5
    Question:
    Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance

    If you are double-clicking on an image file to launch the application, the newest version of the application will always launch.
    If you want to use an older version, you need to quit the newer version and then open the older version of the application.  Then use the File menu in Photoshop, File > Open, to open your file in the older version first.
    You cannot open an earlier version of Photoshop if a newer one is already running.  Newer versions, yes.

  • Saving postscript files with the separations option

    I am testing Adobe Acrobat XI. We used to separte our clients pdf files as followed.
    file - save as - postscript file - advanced options - ... separations cropmarks etc.
    if you open this file i  acrobat you get all your desired printingplates. this stoped working in Acrobat XI on al computers in the office
    Mac Os = Lion and Mountain Lion
    al systems give the same error in Distiller.
    %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: Adobe_AGM_OnHost_Seps ]%%
    Older postscript files that are created with acrobat 9 work fine.
    So i am guessing it is An acrobat problem
    thanx

    Hey,
    OS:
    Mac Os 10.7.5 and Os X 10.8.4
    -correct
    Acrobat XI 11.0.3
    -My info says 11.0.0 and Creative Cloud manager marks Acrobat up to date
    Acrobat XI:
    1. Open a PDf file from client
    2. File -> save as -> postscript file -> advanced options / settings -> output -> color select sperations. (could you add the screen with all settings, just to be sure)
    -in  attchement
    3. Save file to .ps    Distiller XI:
    4. You open distiller (did you select any conversion preset?)
    -no Conversion PrintScreen attached
    5. Select the .ps and convert
    At this point you get a post script error: %%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: Adobe_AGM_OnHost_Seps ]%%
    Comparison done:
    old .ps file from Acrobat 9 (seperations) are converted to .pdf
    new .ps file from Acrobat 11 (seperations) are not converted to .pdf
    -correct
    + Maybe you could create a simple sample file and add a link to test if the issue can be replicated at this end?
    -in attachement
    + You did try multiple source files? Different PDF files?
    -yes
    + Did you test different Distiller presets before converting ps to pdf?

  • Problem opening pdf files with Adobe Reader in Windows 7

    I bought a new Dell (Inspiron 5110) with pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium (Version 6.1 SP1, 64 bit) and pre-installed Adobe Reader X (10.1.1). I cannot open ANY of my old pdf files with the Adobe reader (even after I re-installed the Adobe Reader). On another computer with Windows 7 I get the same error message. When I installed several other pdf-readers (Sumatra, Foxit, ..) I can still not open the pdf's -- but all the pdf's still open under Windows XP on my old computer and they also open on all my colleagues' non-Windows 7 computers. So it appears to be a Windows 7 problem. The Adobe error message says 'Adobe Reader could not open _.pdf because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (…..).
    N.B.: I can download pdf files from the internet and can then open these 'new' pdf files with Adobe Reader X.
    N.B.2.: Most of the 'old' pdf files are scientific articles downloaded from various journal websites 2002-2011, so their quality should be out of question.
    N.B.3.:I've transfered the files via memory stick and portable HD.
    N.B.4.: If I try to open the pdf's via 'Open with' the problem remains the same.
    N.B.5.: When, on my Win7 Dell, I've uploaded/attached one of these old pdf files to an email the rtecipient could not tead it. But he could read it when I'd sent the same file from my old Win XP computer.
    N.B.6.: I have repeated this last observation: When I upload an old pdf file on my Win7 Dell to my email account and then send it to myself, I cannot open/read it on my Win XP (nor on the Dell, of course). Although the file size is precisely the same.
    N.B.7.: When I download a new pdf on my Dell, then upload/attach it to an email also on the Dell and send it to myself, I can download and read the attached pdf on both computers.
    Would be grateful for any suggestions.

    This is really strange.
    Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I can understand, any PDF which is launched on your Win 7 OS fails to open, even though the same file works perfectly fine on your Win XP machine?
    Could you please run a full system anti virus scan on the said PDFs that are present on your local system. It could be a case of infected PDFs.
    Also, it would be great if you could try and download some of the erroneous PDFs from the web again, and see if you experience the same behavior.
    Thanks
    Ankit

  • [File] Problem while creating files with long pathnames

    Hello everybody
    I'm trying to create File objects corresponding to physical files. These files have very long pathnames because they are located in directories tree with large depth. So, my pathname conatins a lot of directories plus the name of the file itself.
    It seems, that there is a limitation in the length of the pathname that I pass to the File constructor because files with small pathnames are OK bu the ones with very large pathnames cannot be created.
    I tried the different File constructors (File(String pathname) and File(File parent, String childname)) but it still does not work. Even if the second constructor is a little bit better as it succeeds on files where the first constructor failed. But still, it's not enough.
    Please Help!
    Thank you
    Hugo

    RESOLVED!
    The problem was from the OS itself (Windows XP) which accepts at most 255 characters long path names.

  • PDF from PostScript file with hyperlinks/bookmarks

    Is there a way to include hyperlinks and bookmarks when printing to Postscript file.
    Direct Export to PDF creates a huge file size so I need to go the PostScript/Distiller route.

    Would it not be possible to use the famous Acrobat Replace Pages featurebug/bugfeature here? (Hyperlinks on, and bookmarks to pages do not get replaced when you replace those.)
    Something like:
    1. Export to PDF.
    2. Print and Distill.
    3. Replace all pages in the document from step 1 with those from step 2.
    4. Done.

    cyclid,
    i have the same environment setup and the same troubles. after searching the forums, it seems that there are others with the same, if not similar issues, yet no solutions. if you find the solution to this one, could you please post it. i would really appreciate it since i have been on this one for several days with no success. i even tried the helloworld jsp/custom tag examples from a jsp profession book that i have and that won't work.
    Anyone out there,
    if you have any idea why this problem exists, any solutions, ideas would be appreciated.

  • Can't open flash/fla files (with CS4) - might be version issue

    Hi,
    I am trying to edit a website for a friend (built with Flash and XML) and i can't seem to get into any of the .Fla files.
    I don't know if it is my version of Flash (CS4) or the files and not sure how i could test it. Could also just be a CS5 file hence i can't open it.
    Any help or suggestions would be great. Please help i don't know what to do, haha.
    Here is an upload of one of the files i am talking about
    http://www.2shared.com/file/kb2NKm0i/book-verification.html
    I wasn't sure which hosts were allowed so if i messed up please let me know.
    Thanks
    Asher

    Hi Asher,
    You  cannot open a file which is saved in future version such as CS5  version  in Flash CS4 .This is as designed .
    If you need to open a CS5 file in CS4 , You need to save the file as CS4 file  and then open in Flash CS4 .

    Dear all,
    I am a big problem in file locating and reading, please help and greatful to reply me with sample code.
    How can I locate and read in files with similar file name ( Info_*.dat ) one-by-one. For example , Info_AAA.dat, Info_BBB.dat, Info_CCC.dat. I want to read in Info_AAA.dat first, and then Info_BBB.dat , and lastly Info_CCC.dat, where AAA, BBB and CCC are random number. These files are stored in the same directory.
    How can I make use of * ? such as Info*.dat . Is that possible to use * with java ? Please show me a sample if possible.

    Thanks a lot.

    That's easy with PathPattern class from JRegex:
    import java.util;
    import jregex.util.io.PathPattern;
      Enumeration files=new PathPattern("Info_*.dat").enumerateFiles();
      while(e.hasMoreElements()){
         File f=(File)e.nextElement();
         doWhatever(f);
    ...There are also any-char "?" and any-directory "**" wildcards.
