Problems syncing iphone

I'm having problems syncing my new iphone after my initial set-up. I bought my phone a couple of days ago, activated and was able to sync without any problems at first, but now when I try to sync, the program simply times out and gives me an error stating "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"... I've tried to re-sync, but the same problem occurs... Need help....

@RAW2020
Don't connect the iPhone through a monitor or keyboard. Those USB ports typically do not provide enough power to maintain a proper connection with devices like iPhones, scanners, cameras, etc.
@sarahanand
Try re-setting the Sync history in iSync. Open iSync, then go to Preferences > Devices > Rest Sync History. Also, are you sure your PBG4-17 has USB ports? The early model(s) only had USB1.1 ports.

  • Itunes was unable to load data class information from sync services -problem syncing iphone with itunes

Hi I have windows 7 and itunes 11.1.1. I recently got a new iphone 5s and have tried to sync and the above message came up and itunes becomes non-reponsive. I tried my old iphone 3gs and the same thing happened. I have tried reinstalling itunes, installing a previous itunes version (although this did not work-again got another error message), tried to choose preferences to reset sync history but itunes becomes non-resonsive before I can do this. Have tried the other options in http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2690 but still not working...any ideas? Cant work my new iphone :-( Thanks

A quick cursory browse seems to point that the problem is on Apples end since the last update of iTunes, theres loads of forum posts about it but Apple themselves arent responding as yet other then the usual "unplug, delete sync data, reconnect or completely uninstall iTunes" spiel which doesnt work so hopefully they will fix it sooner or later

  • Problem Syncing iPhone with iMac

    Hello,
My iPhone has been working and syncing (with new iMac) just fine - until tonight. I plug in iPhone. It shows up in iTunes. I have Automatic sync checked. But, within less than a minute, I receive this error message:
"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone [name] because the iPhone disconnected"
I also get same error message when I click "Sync" button in lower right of iTunes window. Obviously, I did not disconnect the phone as the error message alleges.
I have rebooted computer. I have recycled iPhone (top right switch off, then on). I have changed iPhone cord plugged in back of iMac screen. I have ejected iPhone, removed plug and reestablished connection.
I need to sync my contacts from iMac Address Book. Can someone please identify the problem and solution?
    Thank you,
    Dale
Note: The iPhone was updated several days ago to 1.1.3. Syncs have taken place successfully SINCE the upgrade prior to tonight.

With your iPhone connected and available with iTunes, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences under replace information on this phone, select Contacts and then sync. This will replace all contact information on your iPhone with what is available in the Address Book application.

  • Problems syncing iPhone 4S contacts and calendar with Outlook 2007

Hello.  I am having difficulties syncing my iPhone 4S Contacts and Calendar with Outlook 2007.  It used to work perfectly with my iPhone 4, but now I am having difficulties both ways.  That is, I add something to my Outlook 2007 Calendar, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in my iPhone.  Or, I add a Contact to my iPhone, sync in iTunes, but it doesn't appear in Outlook 2007.  I believe I have the iTunes settings correct.

Me too. Think it is since 6.1.3.
Interesting other quirk is that as well as NOT syncing my calendar, it also unticks my calendar from pc on the iphone.
When ii retick it, i get the calendar back, but as it was before the sync, ie, it does not have the bnew events from my pc in it.
This is a 2 way problem.
New events on my iphone wont sync to my pc, and new events on my pc wont sync to my iphone.

  • Had to reinstall windows 7 - Problems syncing iPhone with new iTunes

    Hello everyone!
I've recently had to reinstall windows 7. Now I am having issues syncing my iPhone 4 with my new iTunes. I've look online at several forums and webpages but haven't found a workable solution yet.
My issues are that when I attempt to sync my iPhone with the new iTunes, it tells me that it will erase everything on the phone and replace it with what's in iTunes. Well there's nothing in iTunes so this is a problem.
Now I don't purchase anything through iTunes, except for a few apps, and the only thing I really want out of syncing is to get some class recordings, done by Voice Memos, from my iPhone to my computer. The files are all around ~30 Mb so I can't email them.
Is there anyway to do this?
    Thanks,
    Greg

What gets erased is the iTunes/App store purchases on your phone, replaced with the contents of your iTunes library on your computer - in this case nothing.  Voice memos sync only from phone to computer - they don't get deleted.
To avoid losing your apps, music/media:
    1. Defeat automatic syncing on connection to iTunes:  ITunes preferences > Devices > Prevent .... from syncing automatically
    2. Connect phone to computer with iTunes open
    3. ITunes menu > File > Devices > Transfer Purchases
    4. iTunes menu > File > Devices > Back UP
Now OK to sync voice memos to iTunes.

  • Problems Syncing iPhone 4S with MS Outlook 2010 after years of no problems

For several years, I have sync'ed my iPhone 4S regularly and flawlessly using itunes with my Windows 7 desktop that was running Outlook 2010.
Last week, disaster struck and my hard drive failed and had to be replaced. Luckily, my backup drive had everything on it, so I replaced the failed drive, then copied my outlook.pst file back on the new drive, as well as all my iTunes songs. Outlook and Itunes were installed for a fresh start.
Unfortunately, I tried to sync my iPhone with the "new" computer today, and the process seems to get stuck at the "Syncing contacts (Step 3 of 7)" during the syncing procedure. It has been at that phase in the process for over 3 hours? Will I hurt the files if I cancel the process?
I there anyway to fix this? Syncing the iphone with outlook is an essential feature.
Are there settings to start with a computer with a new hard disk, but all the old data?
    Please help!

I have 3 iPhone 4's and I'm having this problem on all 3 of them.  We upgraded to iTunes 11.4.0.18 and we have Outlook 2010 and it just gets stuck on (Step 3 of 7) Syncing Contacts.  We left it running overnight and it was still stuck.  When this happens the progress bar keeps moving making you think it is working, but it is stuck.
I wish someone from Apple would help.  We just ordered iPhone 6 phones and we need to backup so we can restore our old info.

  • Problem syncing iPhone photos

I took some pictures with my iPhone and moved them to my pc. When I try ti sync them using iTunes some of them will not sync because "they cannot be display on my iPhone".  I emailed them back to my iPhone and they display just fine. Same thing with my iPad. Why is that?

Figured it out.  Somehow the extension changed from JPEG to JPG.  Changing it back sloved the problem.

  • Weird problem syncing iPhone 3G with Outlook. Stopped working?

    Hi,
I really hope this isn't a repetitive question; I tried searching around the internet and either found no solution that worked, or problems similar but not quite the same as mine.
Anyhow, I just got an iPhone 3G last week and I'm running a PC with Outlook to sync my phone. The first few days all the syncs went 100%, updates calendar/contacts no problem. Then, this afternoon it stopped working. No matter what updates I make to my Outlook or my iPhone, nothing will sync. I plug in the iPhone and sync through iTunes, it says "syncing" but no longer goes into "syncing contacts" then "syncing calendar" etc. I even tried importing my IE bookmarks and got nothing. It almost seems like iTunes stopped "talking" to Outlook?
I've tried playing with the settings in the info tab of iTunes, I've played around in the trust center of Outlook, made new data files, etc and I just uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, all doing nothing.
    Any idea?
    Thanks,
    John

After almost 1 week of sheer frustrations, I have been unable to connect my Iphone 3G to my exchange server at work.
I have tried probably every method discussed here, including restoring my iphone 3G several times. My issue has been elevated all the way up to apple engineering, and still no solution.
It appears that the issue is that I cannot connect because my company is using Exchange server 2003 with SP1.
I can connect any Windows Smartphone or Pocket PC and it will sync in what seems seconds….very fast. I have used windows phones connected to our server for more than 4 years, never an issue.
My company has the attitude of we “We don’t want you to connect, you are lucky to be able to use active sync on windows phones!!” So their change is not probable.
Has anyone found a way to connect Iphone 3G to an Exchange Server 2003, SP1?

  • Problems syncing iPhone photos

Hi, I recently bought a new iMac (January 2014).  My iPhone 4S was syncing photos with my old iMac fine.  But now with the new iMac, my iPhone photos are unable to sync.  Anyone experienced similar problems?  Any idea on how to resolve?
    Thanks!

Sorry the photos taken from my iPhone are going into iPhoto's, but when I want to upload my albums in iPhoto into my iPhone, it is not working. There's no error message or anything, it just cannot be done.

  • Problems syncing iPhone 3G (Backup does not work!)

I have had a series of problems trying to Sync my iPhone.  It first it said I didn't have enough space.  I deleted the backups (this might have been a mistake).  I tried almost every suggestion I could find (reinstalled iTunes, deleted the phyiscal backup files (and folders), etc.
Now iTunes indicates that it is "backing up", but the progress bar does not change and after many minutes there is not progress.
I am concerned that I will loose all the applications (many applications) that I have installed if I simpy reset the device.  I understand I can download them separately but that will take HOURS.  I am also concerned I will use my recorded audo memos,
I was hoping there was another option(s).  Apple is useless.

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes or iPhone forums.

  • Problem syncing iPhone 5

All of a sudden when I try to sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes on my Mac, I receive this error message:
What is going on? How do I resolve this?

Right, I included a screenshot but the post wiped it out. The message is:
The iphone _______ cannot be synced. An unknown error occured (1140).
The blank is the name of my iPhone. The process starts, then for some reason it checks with the itunes store and flips to displaying the error message.
No problems accessing the store otherwise.

  • Problem syncing iPhone 5s with latest iOS 7

Got an iPhone 5S and since the last upgrade og iOS 7 have experienced problems with syncing in iTunes on Mac, Checked music will not copy across and lost contacts on my phone

I got my brand new iphone 5s on 23 march. And my ios is not 7.1 til now, i dont do the update because affraid of some issues. It's 7.05. Actually it is a little bit strange while others claim that previous ios before 7.1 is 7.06. But i dont want to get too close with issues so i dont do the update.
And dont worry when you do the back up by plugging it into itunes. You can do the update either not. It's your choice. There will be notification for you if you want do the update. If no, you can still do the back up. IPhone 5s is amazing, hope they will release new ios soon to fix the hapening problems. hehehe

  • Problem syncing iPhone 4

I've had my iPhone 4 for a little while now and I have yet to have a "clean" experience syncing with iTunes or updating the OS. I always seems to get errors of some sort which correspond to no syncing properly and, in some cases, removing content from my iPhone (usually music, apps, and ringtones).
However, I was reading some other posts that seem to suggest it may be due to using USB ports on the side of my notebook instead of the ports on the back. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case and post a link to the original thread on that particular problem (if it is the same problem I'm having)?
Thanks in advance for your response!

I'm not sure why there would be a difference in USB ports, but maybe there's some glitch that makes it better.
Though this hasn't happened to me lately, I too had a one month stretch with my 3GS where syncing was just impossible. It would last for hours or it would crash the phone. I got more and more frustrated, when someone suggested I start from the beginning. So I reset the phone, and synced with just a few apps at a time. I found one that was bad, and I deleted it from iTunes, then re-downloaded it (it was an important app for what I did, and I had installed an additional item that was corrupted, as I found out when talking to the developers...it was an expensive app, so I wasn't ready to give up).
This took work, I admit. I've had bad songs that jinxed my iPhones. But that's easier to diagnose, since I just watch the syncing, and notice where it fails.
    Anyways, I hope this helps.
