Problems trying to insert rows from PL/SQL procedure with existing seq..

hello. please help me.
i have a button that is calling an anonymous PL/SQL block and i am struggling with inserting records automatically when this button is clicked. an ordinary before insert DB trigger is launched:
reate or replace TRIGGER "SPECSYS"."BI_SPEC_INSTRUCTS"
before insert on "SPEC_INSTRUCTS"
for each row

if :NEW."ID" is null then
select "SPEC_INSTRUCTS_SEQ".nextval into :NEW."ID" from dual;

in my PL/SQL I am trying to create a record automatically. stupid question that this undoubtedly is, how do i do this? if i leave the sequence column = null surely the trigger should take care of inserting the sequence into this column automatically?
i have tried making the sequence column = null, leaving it out altogether (ie specifying all colums except this one on the insert statement) but with no success!

Returing array from PL/SQL procedure

I am trying to return array from PL/SQL procedure. Heres is the code. I am getting an error "OracleParameter.ArrayBindSize is invalid ".

Yes, I am trying to get result set in array which is unknow to me (No of rows return by the query). For the test I will pre-define the result set so that I will able to set ArrayBindSize.
I have read C# example but when I try to write it in VB.NET it gives me syntax error when I try to set the ArrayBindSize.

There is an example at otn "How to: Bind an Array to an ODP.NET Database Command" which does multiple INSERTs in one trip to database. This works fine. I need to do same for the SELECT statement which will return me multiple rows. I do not mean refCursor. If I use refCursor, it will make soft parse which I am trying to avoid using this Array techniq.

I am trying to insert rows for alert_id 22 with diff abc_id and xyz_id

I am trying to insert rows for alert_id 22 with diff abc_id and xyz_id
these inserts will store in two tables that I have to join in the cursor.
I have written cursor without passing cursor parameters. but here i need to pass acb_id and xyz_id along with alert_id.
then if these are saticified with alert_id 22 then I want to stop the loop run, else i need to continue the loop. bcause the abc_id and xyz_id are diff for alert_id 22
This is the issue I am facing!
Please let me know if you have any idea. Let me know how to use cursor parameters here and in loop.
Sample proc like this::

if this set of records already exists then

Tou need to do a couple of things
1. On the Essbase server, set up an odbc system connection to your MySQL database
2. In the load rule , go to the file menu and select open SQL data source and in the data source put in your SQL statement . A couple of hints. Where it says Select, don't put in the word select and where it say from don't put in from. The system adds them for you. The easiest way ti enter a SQL statement is to do it all in the select area So if your SQL would normanlly say select * from mytable just enter the code as * from mytable in the select area
The click ol/retrieve and enter in your connection info. Itshould bring data back into the load rule. Save the load rule and use it

Retruring Multiple rows from a Stored Procedure

The Oracle JDBC documentation shows how to return a cursor pointer through the parameter list of a stored procedure allowing a Java program to use the cursor like a normal result set. I've tried it (using the thin driver) and it works fine - however, I'm having trouble getting this to work running the program under a Weblogic server (using their own JDBC implementation). So, I have two questions:
1) Has anyone had this problem before and solved it ??
2) Are there any other techniques for getting multiple rows back from the database without having to fire "raw" sql at it ?

You could return not resultset but array, for example:

Of course in this example you need to know length of your array
(arraylength parameter), but you can avoid such problem, for
example, by using DBMS_SQL package (or dynamic SQL feature in

I am trying to create Excel Workbook with two worksheets from PL/SQL procedure. I created one worksheet. Can I create a separate sheet from same procedure. I used OWA_UTIL.MIME_HEADER ('application/vnd.ms-excel', FALSE)

I am not sure, but depending on your environment you can create a script to run your PL/SQL code and then generate the report. As is customary in an UNIX environment utilizing shell scripts.

Creating web service from pl/sql procedure

Hello.
I need to create a web service from pl/sql procedure and i chose JDeveloper for this implementation. I have wsdl, but I never created web services. So, I created web service with document/literal message format.
But I have several troubles:
1. All element names have lower case letters.
2. The SOAP envelope must begin from words soapenv:Envelope but i have soap:Envelope.
3. And operation name has tail like "Element".
I know bad way for implement 1 and 3 points. It's a modification of java_wsdl_mapping.xml and wsdl files. But if I want to add new method to my service all changes will be cleaned. It's not critical but inconvenient to support.
But for point 3 i have no ideas.
This task is very important for me. Can somebody help me?
