Problems trying to migrating ports to a new Vlan using an externar DHCP server
Hello, here is the thing. I have the following configuration in my Core Switch:
interface Vlan1
ip address 10.24.74.1 255.255.254.0 secondary
ip address 192.0.2.54 255.255.255.0
ip helper-address 10.24.86.22
no ip redirects
As you see, we are using an external DHCP server for the Vlan1 and it is working:
Internet 192.0.2.98 0 3c97.0e23.3d8d ARPA Vlan1
Internet 192.0.2.194 0 e89a.8f77.36a0 ARPA Vlan1

But, when a try to migrate this port to a new Vlan (Vlan50), I got the following issue:

Any suggestions,
Thank you in advance,
Just to help someone who has the same issue.
I found this on the web site:
When the server receives a DHCPREQUEST from a client in the RENEWING (or REBINDING) state, it normally grants the renewal only if the client has an unexpired lease with this server. Otherwise the server ignores the request; the server to which the client is bound should answer the client. (The only exception is normally that if a server is sure the IP address the client is asking for is inappropriate for the client, the server will send a DHCPNAK, which forces the client back to the INIT state.)
Thank you anyway

Migration of balances for new ledger using the New GL
Hi everyone,
I have a specific scenario into this customer where we have implemented the SAP version ECC6.0 with the table FAGLFLEXT is active and using just one ledger (0L - standard). We need to create a new ledger for IFRS (e.g: 1L), as the customer didn´t use the splitting document functionality, it was not purchased the migration services.
Now I need to upload the balances in the accounts into new ledger, I understand that for general accounts there is no problem because I can use the transaction FB01L and specifying the new ledger (1L).
My doubt is : How can I to do the upload balances for open items into the AP and AR accounts?
Anybody can help me?
Thanks
Ricardo GomesYou are right. I just realized that and came back to update my response. Please see the following note.
https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1070629
I see a standard program delivered for that purpose in the note above.
FAGL_MIG_SUBSEQ_POST
Again, please go through the note. There is a lot of information on data transfer (and other FAQs) for new non-leading ledgers. -
Hi,
Can anyone there help me Please with the problem. I am trying to
communicate with the parallel port using my program which i have
attached to the message. I am running LabVIEW 7.0 Professional with
application builder. All the program does is reads and writes to the
three parallel port registers. It runs FINE!!! in my computer. But when
i built an executable (see attached) and tried running on a different
computer (with LabVIEW Runtime engine 7.0 installed) the program does
not read/write to the registers. The target PC had the parallel port in
SPP mode just like mine. I can't seem to understand whats going wrong?
Can anyone please help me if you know the right answer.
Thanks

Programs.zip 119 KBHi Guys,
I too have a problem using "Out Port.vi", but of a diferent kind. I use this VI to control the Parallel Port which in turn controls a small circuit. I use only two data pins, DP-2 and DP-4 for this purpouse. I use LV 7.1 Professional Development version in a Windows 2000 operating system. Now, my main problem is that my code runs fine (both is development and .exe forms) in my development computer, but when I try to run the .exe version in other computers (Windows XP operating system), it asks for a "protocol file" while starting (look at the attached picture).
Now, I really have no idea what kind of a protocol file it asks for and just click "ok" and proceed to work, the most interesting part is that the code works well as I expected. So, my only problem is that it asks for a protocl file which I want to avoid. As with the application building, I do all that is required like including the sub VIs (self developed), creating an installer, enabling the port access, and creating a proper .ini fine. I also use the Out Port.vi from the AccessHW library.
I have my doubts on two fronts,
1) With the version conflict, since my development computer runs with Windows 2000 and my target computers all run with Windows XP
2) With the Out Port.vi which further contains a small VI "Output Word to Port.vi" in it and that further contains Call Library Function Node, which might call soem external files, like what my problem is.(look at the attached picture)
I don't have answers to these questions and may be my problem is in different place, but I would like to hear from anyone who could give me a helping hand. I am in a situation where I could not disclose my code.
Thanks in advance,
mohan

Migrating to new hardware using maintenance Mac OSX Server
Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating a G4 Xserver to a G5 Xserve. The older G4 is running 10.3.9 and the newer G5 will be running Mac OS server 10.4.7.
We have a maintenance agreement with Apple, so I want to migrate from our 10.3.9 server license to the 10.4.7 server license - but it's the same 'license' and when I install it on the new hardware, Server Admin/Overview tells me that it's License Type is "0-client license". Also the Serial number fields format in Server Admin/Settings is clearly different from the documentation that came with the maintenance copy of the server software:
Server format;
x-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-x
Documentation License;
xxxx-xxx-xxx-x-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-x
So my question is
How do I migrate from one server to another using the same license while minimizing downtime for this production system?I would say that Apple should be able to update your 36-months maintenance agreement with a OSXS 10.4 serial number.
As far as I know, the structure of 10.3 and 10.4 serial numbers is different (wasn't the case between 10.2 and 10.3) so I'm short of a technical answer here.
Maybe you could try :
/System/Library/ServerSetup/serversetup -setServerSerialNumber xxxx-xxx-xxx-x-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-x
in a Terminal window on the server. It's theorically the same as using Server Admin but maybe this could help. -
HT201250 How to migrate backup disk to new computer using mountain lion?
The page says it provides information about how to migrate a backup disk to a new mac, but it's not there. Does anyone know how to do this in Mountain Lion? When I simply chose the old disk on the new computer, it created an entirely new backup folder and was going to back up everything, not just add to the existing backups. The computer name, login name, and login password are not changed. It's just a new machine . Both old and new machines are mid-2011 iMacs. Thanks!
If it's a new machine, then Time Machine will make a new backup. This is how Time Machine works. A new computer always results in a new backup.
But your question seems to ask about how to use Migration Assistant to transfer your Time Machine backup to the new machine. Am I misunderstanding your question?
In any event: Please visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine. -
I don't have the CD for Lion, I downloaded it on line through the store! I'm at a loss...
We need a little more detail to be really helpful.
Did you download and install Lion on the new MB Pro?
If you didn't that is probably the problem you can migrate from older to newer OSes but not the reverse, so if the new MB Pro is still on 10.6 that's likely the problem.
If you downlaod Lion on the new Pro, you might want to stop the install that starts a automatically and follow these instructions to make a bootable DVD.
If Lion is sucessfully installed on both machines then I'm not sure at this point what the issue is.

Problem with MAC Pinning and new VLAN
[Cross posting to Nexus 1000V and UCS forums]
Hi all, I have a working setup of UCS 1.4 (3i) and Nexus 1000V 1.4 and as per the best practice guide am using 'channel-group auto mode on mac-pinning' on the Nexus uplinks. I am having trouble when adding a new VLAN into this environment, and it is a reproducable problem across two different installations.
I go through the usual VLAN creating process on the Nexus, the upstream network and within UCS itself. I create the new vethernet port profile and set it as an access port in the new VLAN. However when I attach a VM (either existing or new) to this new vethernet port profile within vCentre the VM cannot communicate with anything. However, if I disable MAC pinning with 'no channel-group auto mode on mac-pinning', the VM instantly starts to talk to the outside world and the new VLAN is up and running. I can then turn MAC pinning back on again and everything continues to work.
So the question is, is this behaviour normal or is there a problem? Disabling MAC pinning does have a brief interruption to the uplink so is not a viable long-term solution for the customer when they want to add new VLANs. Is there a way to add new VLANs in this scenario without any network downtime, however brief?
ThanksSimon,
Let's gather some further outputs if you're able to recreate this (if this is prod, let me know and I'll whip this up in my lab).
Go through the process of setting up the new VLAN. Once you confirmed your VM has no connectivity when using a PP tied to the new VLAN, gather the following outputs into a text file and attach to this thread:
From the VSM:
show vlan
show int trunk
show log last 15
module vem x execute vemcmd show vlan y (x = module of VEM where VM is running, y is the VLAN ID)
module vem x execute vemcmd show bd y (y = VLAN ID)
module vem x execute vemcmd show pc
module vem x execute vemcmd show port
module vem x execute vemcmd show pinning
module vem x execute vemcmd show trunk
From the CLI of UCS Interconnect:
connect NXOS
show vlan
show int trunk
Also please highlight or Identify:
- Problem VLAN ID #
- VM veth # in question (1000v)
- vEth # for each Service Profile vNIC used for your VEM uplinks (UCS)
We'll start with this and work from here. Once I have these outputs I'll let you know if I need anything else.
Regards,
Robert
(I'll keep this as the main thread, and update the 1000v forum once we resolve) -
Need advise/help with new VLAN's
Our company is running out of internal non routable IP's, so we would like to create a few newe VLANs and place all physical workstations on the new VLAN (30) and subnet (192.168.30.0/24)...and also create another VLAN (31) for a new project.
I am fairly new to IOS but do have a good idea what IOS commands to run as it relates to creating new VLAN/DHCP Scope, exlude a range of ip's etc
However I have a few questions I hope someone could answer.
On our core (3750) switch, I see the following
spanning-tree vlan 3,10,20,900,999 priority 24576
QUESTION: I think we just add new vlans and they will add to the spanning tree list? Note how i Included "priority 24576" in my command….is this correct?
My-CORE-SW1(config)#spanning-tree vlan 30,31 priority 24576
RESULT:
This is what the line should look like after adding new VLANs?
spanning-tree vlan 3,10,20,30,31,50,900,999 priority 24576
My next question has to do with Port-Channel Groups....my understanding is you add the new VLAN's to the Port-channel Groups (not the members) as the VLAN will be added automatically to those members?
Core Switch
My-Core-SW1(config)#interface Port-channel1
My-Core-SW1(config-if)# switchport trunk allowed vlan add 30,31
My-Core-SW1(config-if)#exit
My-Core-SW1(config)#
Second Switch
My-Other-SW2(config)#interface Port-channel2
My-Other-SW2(config-if)# switchport trunk allowed vlan add 30,31
My-Other-SW2(config-if)#exit
My-Other-SW2(config)#
QUESTION: I also understand the Po-Groups at each end must match or you could potentially brink down the link? so in what order do I add the VLANS to avoid bringing down the links? are there other commands I need to run to do this safely?
And my final question has to do with changing the ports to the new VLAN (30) for our physical worksations.
For testing, I know I can pick on a few interfaces and update VLAN, then release and renew IP at workstation
to verify new IP (192.168.30.x) from the DHCP scope and test away
For example
Place My-Other-SW2 - (Fa1/0/11) on VLAN 30
My-Other-SW2(config)#interface Fa1/0/11
My-Other-SW2(config-if)#no switchport access vlan 10
My-Other-SW2(config-if)#switchport access vlan 30
The above is fine for changing and testing a few workstations, However can someone provide some guidance to migrate a group of ports connected to workstations over to new VLAN?
Each VLAN (10 and 30) has a DHCP scope.....so the issue here is changing those ports
connected to physical workstations (VLAN 10 (old) to VLAN 30 (new)) and use the new DHCP scope.
Please show commands....appreciated
Thanks in advance to all those who reply.QUESTION: I think we just add new vlans and they will add to the spanning tree list? Note how i Included "priority 24576" in my command….is this correct?
Yes they should just be added to the list. In terms of the priority hard to say if it is correct. The number you have used is less than the default STP priority so if this is the lowest priority configured on any switch then it will be the STP root for those vlans.
QUESTION: I also understand the Po-Groups at each end must match or you could potentially brink down the link? so in what order do I add the VLANS to avoid bringing down the links? are there other commands I need to run to do this safely?
Add them to the port channel interface and it will be automatically propogated to the physicall ports. Just have two windows up for both ends of the link and enter the configuration at the same time.
Note though, you only need to do this if you are already limiting the vlans allowed on the trunk with an existing "switchport trunk allowed vlan ...." command. If there isn't one ie. all vlans are allowed across the trunk link then do not use the command you listed as it would only allow the new vlans across ie. it would stop the existing ones. So you need to check the configuration of the trunk link first ie. what does the port channel configuration look like already.
To change the ports to the new vlan you should be able to use the "interface range ...." command eg.
switch(config)# int range gi0/1 - 10, gi0/11, gi0/14 - 15
switch(config-if-range)# switchport access vlan
when you do this bear in mind that your L3 device will have arp tables that map the devices mac addresses to their old subnet IPs so you need to clear the arp tables on the L3 device or wait for them to time out.

New VLan can't talk to DHCP server
We have just created a new vlan (172.18.1.0/24 vlan 3) on our network and we are trying to use an exsisting DHCP server (192.168.0.1 vlan 8) But the clients on the 172.18.1.0 network can't connect to this DHCP server on vlan 8. My questions are.
1. Do we need to specify vlan 3 on the switchport that the DHCP server is plugged into?
2. Is there something @ L3 we need to enable to pass these DHCP server messages too across these vlans?
Has any used DHCP servers on different subnets?
Any info would be great. You need to configure an IP helper on the appropriate VLAN interface(s). Routers, by default, will not forward broadcast packets. Since DHCP client messages use the destination IP address of 255.255.255.255 (all Nets Broadcast), DHCP clients will not be able to send requests to a DHCP server on a different subnet unless the DHCP/BootP Relay Agent is configured on the router. The DHCP/BootP Relay Agent will forward DHCP requests on behalf of a DHCP client to the DHCP server. The DHCP/BootP Relay Agent will append its own IP address to the source IP address of the DHCP frames going to the DHCP server. This allows the DHCP server to respond via unicast to the DHCP/BootP Relay Agent. The DHCP/BootP Relay Agent will also populate the Gateway IP address field with the IP address of the interface on which the DHCP message is received from the client. The DHCP server uses the Gateway ip address field to determine the subnet from which the DHCPDISCOVER, DHCPREQUEST, or DHCPINFORM message originates.

Testing moving to new Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP Server.
HI all,
I want to bring up a new DCHP server on an existing Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller. The current DHCP server is a Windows 2003 Domain Controller. I have moved all the FSMO Roles to the new 2008 R2 domain controller
with the plan to eventually demote the 2003 server and take it off the network. I have the dhcp role installed on the new Windows Server 2008 R2 and have duplicated the exact settings (reservations, scope, etc.) from the old windows 2003 server
on the new 2008 R2 server. My plan was simply to disable the dhcp service on the old windows server 2003 and then authorize the new Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP Server. However, after reading several articles, I understand that once you authorize
a new dhcp server, the old dhcp sever is unauthorized. I also read where several people had major issues with the new dhcp server not handing out IP Addresses even though the new dhcp server was authorized successfully. Since this is
a production network, I would like to employ the correct method to bring up the new dhcp server. Also, if there is a problem, is there an easy way to go back to the original dhcp server? Thanks for your help.
FD
Bob AndresYou can authorize multiple DHCP servers on a network.
You can activate and deactivate different scopes independently. So you can test DHCP functionality with a test scope.
Also, you can stop the old server in many ways that allow it to be online very rapidly: stop the dhcp server service, deactivate the scopes and yes even de-authorize the server.
My advice would be to built a test so you are confident (=very important) and not to fear the final onlining too much. DHCP is no rockets science. If you've replicated the configuration and are aware of possible IP Helper configurations on your routers/switches,
it should all work out fine.

Add switchports to new VLAN/DHCP pool
Hello community,
Our company recently added a new VLAN/Subnet/DHCP pool to seperate the physical workstations. I updated a few interfaces to the new VLAN...which is fine for testing a few workstations, however what is the best approach and least disruptive way to update a range of ports to the new VLAN/DHCP pool.
Can we update the Interfaces to the new VLAN with the range command.....let the current DHCP lease expire and then they would get an ip from new Pool? Should we lower the lease time on old pool? ...I think it is currenty set to 24hr (default)
Please include IOS commands
Much appreciated!Hello,
Create the new DHCP pool on your DHCP server, and lower the lease time of old pool, after pcs are get the new ip addresses, create a new vlan and assign the ports to this vlan.
ip dhcp pool OLDPOOL
network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 192.168.1.1
ip dhcp pool NEWPOOL
network 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 192.168.2.1
interface range f0/1 - 24

SF300-48P gets error message trying to enable DHCP server in unit
We have a SF300-48P that has been used as a dumb switch. The network is currently a peer-to-peer with all 30 devices (mixed desktop computers and some printers) having a fixed IP assigned or selected in them. While trying to add a NAS device the device reported it needed a DHCP connection. So, checking, I found that the latest firmware for the SF300 has a DHCP server inside it. (At least that's what I get out of the "features" commnets.) I downloaded the firmware from Cisco and upgraded the firmware to ver. 1.3.0.62. I changed the password as required and then went to the "IP configuration". I tried to check the box for "enable DHCP server" but got an error message something like "must unplug all DHCP devices". So I unplugged everthing from the switch except one computer with the IP fixed as 192.168.1.149 and tried to enable the DHCP server again. But, I got the same error.
Does the SF300 have a DHCP server internally with the ver 1.3.0.62 firmware? (or, did I misread the meaning?)
If the SF300 can be used as a DHCP server how do I go about enabling it?
( I am a complete n00b when it comes to networking so I will require some step-by-step guidance.)Hi Terry, the switch must be operating in layer 3 mode. Additionally, any vlan interface created must have a static IP address. The error you received is most likely because the default vlan or any other vlan does not have a static IP (assuming you're in layer 3 already)

Trying to migrate to a new computer - major problems
Hi, I'm posting this for my friend Cindy who is trying to migrate from an old laptop to a new PC. Laptop: Vista PC: Windows 7, both 64 bit.
She called me after moving some files around and being partially successful. The problem is that a few thousand photos are missing and cannot be found. I've searched her internal and external hard drives and cannot locate the files on either computer. I do believe they are gone.
What we're trying to figure out is this: How can she take everything that is on her laptop and migrate it properly to the PC. The catch here is that the laptop is messed up too because of trying to move things around.
So, is there any way to get PS Lightroom to scan the catalog and then search the whole computer (c: and g: drives) for the missing files, and then export them into a new catalog that is properly organized? I realize that's a tall order but we are grasping at straws here.
Thanks for your time, and feel free to point me in the right direction rather than answer the questions explicitly.
Ryan (via Cindy's account)You need to supply more information:
1) What version of LR is installed on the old laptop, and what version on the new desktop?
2) Are the "few thousand missing photos" showing up in LR on the new desktop, but with '?' symbol in the thumbnails? If so double-click the '?' to display the laptop file location path where LR thinks the files are.
3) What is the 'G:' drive letter (external drive?) and has anything been deleted from the G: or C: drives?
4) Was there more than one (1) Lightroom catalog created on the laptop? If so where were the catalogs saved?
This link will be helpful in locating LR files and folders:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/843/cpsid_84313.html
Do NOT open any applications on the laptop other than Windows File Explorer, to prevent overwriting any possibly deleted files. -
Migration Assistant - Problems copying 2009 MacBook Pro data to new MacBook Pro
Purchased new MacBook Pro and tried to copy old MacBook Pro (circa 2009) data to new one using migration assistant. It stalled after about 20 hours via wireless. My question is how can I restore the new machine to factory settings and start over? Or is there a better way to copy the remaining files/applications? Please note that I've tried to run migration assistant again and it keeps exiting to login screen on the new MacBook Pro - after connection is made.
How much RAM does it have?
In spite of what Apple says, 4GB is not practically adequate with the new 64-bit systems (Lion and successors). All MBPs from Early 2011 forward, with user-installable RAM SO-DIMMs, can take up to 16GB with no problems and with greatly enhanced performance.
And if you still persist in running the systems with 4GB, make sure there's ample paging space on the HDD.
