Problems while creating a physical Standby
Hi,
I am trying to setup a physical standby database with oracle 10g.
I configured a specific log archive destination:
LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_3 = 'SERVICE=ORAMPSEC REOPEN=60 MAX_FAILURE=3 LGWR SYNC
VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=ORAMPSEC'
The service is reachable via network.
To establish the standby database I copied all datafiles from the primary database using scp. I also created a standby controlfile and a modified pfile. In addition I added a standby redo logfile which has the same size as the online redo log files on the primary database.
After starting the standby database in open read only mode I receive the following error message:
Database mounted.
ORA-16004: backup database requires recovery
ORA-01194: file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
ORA-01110: data file 1: '/oradata/ORAMPPRD/data/system01.dbf'
I tried to recover using "recover standby database" I receive the following message:
ORA-00279: change 884348 generated at 07/18/2006 17:08:07 needed for thread 1
ORA-00289: suggestion : /oradata/ORAMPPRD/archive/1_30_595767954.dbf
ORA-00280: change 884348 for thread 1 is in sequence #30
Specify log: {<RET>=suggested | filename | AUTO | CANCEL}
Although I transmitted all archived log files from the primary database the archived log file mentioned above is not available. After hitting RETURN I get this message:
ORA-00308: cannot open archived log
'/oradata/ORAMPPRD/archive/1_30_595767954.dbf'

ORA-01194: file 1 needs more recovery to be consistent
ORA-01110: data file 1: '/oradata/ORAMPPRD/data/system01.dbf'
Here is a listing of all archived logfiles from the primary database:

Nothing known about the *30*dbf file.
Although there still seems to be something wrong, the archived log file transmission seems to work since there is no error reported on the log archive destination:
SQL> select status, error from v$archive_dest where dest_id = 3;
STATUS ERROR
VALID
And after I manually force a log switch I see that archived redo logs were applied on the standby database:
select sequence#, applied from v$archived_log order by sequence#;
SEQUENCE# APPLIED
27 YES
28 NO
28 YES
29 NO
29 YES
Unfortunately because of the recovering problem I cannot open the database to see if the changes were applied. So my first question is, how can I get the standby database completely recovered ??
In addition to this I was expecting that the changes to the standby database were made immediately since I choosed LGWR sync but I have to manually force the logfile switch. As I already mentioned a standby redo log file is available as well.
Thanks for your help,
Philipp.
Hi,
since it does not seem to work with just copying the datafiles I switched to RMAN. I created a full database backup from Enterprise Manager. Similiar to http://dizwell.com/main/content/view/81/122/1/1/ I tried to duplicate the database to the standby instance (running on a different server). But unfortunately I receive error messages that the files, previously created, cannot be found:
channel d1: starting datafile backupset restore channel d1: specifying datafile(s) to restore from backup set restoring datafile 00001 to /oradata/ORAMPPRD/data/1.dbf restoring datafile 00002 to /oradata/ORAMPPRD/data/2.dbf restoring datafile 00003 to /oradata/ORAMPPRD/data/3.dbf restoring datafile 00004 to /oradata/ORAMPPRD/data/4.dbf channel d1: reading from backup piece /opt/oracle/ora10/product/10.2.0.1.0/dbs/0bhoiq60_1_1

ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory Additional information: 3 failover to previous backup
But when I crosscheck my backup inside RMAN it clearly shows the backup files:
RMAN> crosscheck backup;
backup piece
handle=/opt/oracle/ora10/product/10.2.0.1.0/dbs/0bhoiq60_1_1 recid=7
stamp=596207811
crosschecked backup piece: found to be 'AVAILABLE'
I already checked the file permissions, everybody on the system is able to access this file.
Do you know what is going wrong here ??
Cheers,
Philipp.

I try to create a physical standby datbaase using OEM 10gr2, it is working when I create on same server. No issue but when I try to create same on remote server it is giving below warning and process failing. Please let me know what needs to be down in this senario...
It is showing redo log information in v$log and v$log_file but not creating physically on PHYSICAL Standby instance..
I appriciate your help and ur time too..
These messages are from PRIMARY database alert*.log file

standby redo logfiles that match the primary database:
ALTER DATABASE ADD STANDBY LOGFILE 'srl1.f' SIZE 52428800;
ALTER DATABASE ADD STANDBY LOGFILE 'srl2.f' SIZE 52428800;
ALTER DATABASE ADD STANDBY LOGFILE 'srl3.f' SIZE 52428800;

Thanks and Regards,
RKWell, it is simply warning that "Creating a physical
standby controlfile, when OMF is enabled on the primary
database, requires manual RMAN intervention to resolve OMF
datafile pathnames.
NOTE: Please refer to the RMAN documentation for procedures
describing how to manually resolve OMF datafile pathnames"
For instance, the path for the logfile name in "ALTER DATABASE ADD STANDBY LOGFILE 'srl5.f' SIZE 52428800" may need to be changed manually. It is advisable to check the mentioned documentation. -

Thanks for the reply. Actually i don't want any work around (Creating MVLOG on table rather than synonym is fine with me) . I just wanted to know it is actually an oracle bug or something else.

Hi all, i'm new to Mac book & Xcode. I'm learning and facing problems while creating a new file for Xcode. Before i upgrade the software, i have no issue to create simple steps in apps. After upgrade Xcode to 4.6 version, i'm facing lot's of issue eg.
1) "the identity "iphone developer" doesn't match any valid certificate/ private key pair",
2) can't select the box "with XIB for user interface" if the subclass is "UIViewController"..
Appreciate for any help rendered.Mikko777 wrote:So what is the best?
I wouldn't judge. I've been to Arch for a week, you know? But as said, it's VERY close to it.
What I dislike after a week is makepkg not handling dependencies automatically (which would be overhead, so probably not appropriate).
Mikko777 wrote:Also theres KDEmod for modular kde, dunno if its for 64 bits tho.
Don't actually need that as said ... I see no real benefit of having that other than not beeing a KDE user or having Gentoos useflags.

please assist me in this regard.
Thanks,

Thank you for your reply.
I am still getting the same messages even after creating the iview template in EP7.0
Created through:
content Admin --> portal content --> <folder>new --> iview --> seleting "Portal component - create an iView from a portal component contained in a deployed portal archive (PAR file)" <next> --> seleting "com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap" <next> --> webdynpro <next> --> finish.
Open object for editing...--> Object is a Template to Yes.
Result :

Create a physical standby for Rac on Windows and raw devices
Hi buddies:
I need to create a Physical standby database for a 2 node RAC cluster on Windows, that is using RAW devices.
Can someone of you suggest me a note to follow in order to achive this, i can not find to much information about how to do this.
I guess that the best option would be to use RMAN to do this, but as i said before i havent found too much information.
I would really appreciate your help.
Kind regards
MQIn this case the standby should be created as a single instance on regular files.
Do i have to specify something different in the duplicate rman command to specify that the standby database will be a single instance?
Thanks for your help

What are the differences of creating a physical standby database with ASM?
I want to create a physical standby database for my 10g(10.2.0.1) database. But it is using ASM. Is it possible to create a standby database for a database using ASM?
What are the differences of creating a physical standby database with ASM?tell us what your research shows and we'll try to
validate it. I am simulating Oracle ASM on a PC and I want to try
DataGuard on it now. So I am trying to create DataGuard
on an ASM system. The purpose is only learning and test.That's telling us how you are researching, not what you have observed.
Your research could have included looking at the documetation, and you might have found http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/scenarios.htm#sthref1642
which discusses exactly what you are looking for.

Clarification on creating a Physical Standby Database
I'm practicing with data guard with Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 on two Windows 2003 servers.
I'm in the process of creating a physical standby database by following the steps outlined in the guide http://www.filibeto.org/sun/lib/nonsun/oracle/10.2.0.1.0/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/create_ps.htm
I've created the primary database and did a cold backup of all the datafiles and copied them to the standby server using OS commands. I've created a pfile from the spile in primary database and changed the needed parameters for the standby database.
What I don't understand is this statement I think is creating a control file for the standby database: SQL> ALTER DATABASE CREATE STANDBY CONTROLFILE AS '/tamp/standby.ctl'
Exactly what I don't understand is what to do with this control file. I'm thinking that if I try to use it as the controlfile for the standby database, the standby database will refuse to open since the database name in the control file wont match the one the server expects.
I don't want to proceed until this becomes clear. So my question is what to do with the output of the above statement that seems to create a control file for the standby database.
Any help would be appreciated.
Dula>
You're thinking wrong.
Please clarify the difference between db_name and
db_unique_name.
Db_unique_name needs to be identical for both primary
AND standby database.
If db_unique_name differs, you'll get errors.
Sybrand,
Perhaps, you meant DB_NAME has to be identical for both databases.
DB_NAME name has to be the same for both primary and physical standby database.
DB_UNIQUE_NAME should be unique for each database in the standby configuration.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/create_ps.htm#i68626
If you configure Logical Standby Database, DB_NAME may be different.
For the original poster: Chapter 3 - Creating a Physical Standby Database of Oracle® Data Guard Concepts and Administration has all the steps you have to do in order to configure a physical standby database.

Creating a Physical Standby Database using OEM GC
This Paper is about the creation of a physical Stanby Database using OEM GC.
You will see that there is really nothing to it and using the Data Guard Broker, performing a switchover is as easy as 1,2,3,.
BTW, this works in both OEM GC 10.2.0.5 and 11.1

Creating a Physical Standby Database
Hi,
I'm reading Oracle® Data Guard
Concepts and Administration
10g Release 2 (10.2)
B14239-04.
In 3.2 Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating a Physical Standby Database chapter it says :
3.2.1 Create a Backup Copy of the Primary Database Datafiles and recommend RMAN to do that.
And in
3.2.4 Copy Files from the Primary System to the Standby System
Use an operating system copy utility to copy the following binary files from the
primary system to the standby system:
■ Backup datafiles created in Section 3.2.1
Finallysorry , I did not finish.
I continue
finally,
3.2.6 Start the Physical Standby Database
Step 1 Start the physical standby database.
On the standby database, issue the following SQL statement to start and mount the
database:
SQL> STARTUP MOUNT;
I wonder , how to transform RMAN backup files to data files ? It is not explained or it is not necessary ?
Many thanks. -

SteveHi everybody,
I've got a problem with this too. I use the BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2 with BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT and the webdynpro shows me the document number created in R3 with a Success message. But when I go to R3 and try to display the created sales order, it doesn't exists. So... Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT. ¿Can anybody help me with this?
The code I use is this:
When the user pushes the SAVE button in the WebDynpro, this code executes:
//@@begin onActionSave(ServerEvent)
wdThis.wdGetSOCreaCustController().executeBapi_Salesorder_Createfromdat2();
wdThis.wdGetSOCreaCustController().executeBapi_Transaction_Commit();

In the custom Controller I've got the code for those executions:
public void executeBapi_Salesorder_Createfromdat2( )
//@@begin executeBapi_Salesorder_Createfromdat2()
try {
wdContext.currentBapi_Salesorder_Createfromdat2Element().modelObject().execute();
catch (Exception ex) {

Problem while creating data transfer process
Hi friends
I am using BI 7.0 version.
I m getting a problem while creating dtp
After activating DTP and selecting the execute button, I am getting the following error message:
Request cannot be processed in its current state
Messg no : RSBK209
can anyone help me on this problem
ThankHi Deepthi,
Also check the error message(long text) and paste it here...
check if you are either creating a "second" Delta DTP ( if an existing Delta DTP exists, then system will not allow you create a second DTP) and will throw an "overlapping" error
Hope this helps
Thanks
