Problems with in pl/sql -

I am working on dispalying
the employee photo as per the sample code in people app application.
SELECT H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_ID, nvl(ltrim(H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_FNAME ||'
' || H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_LNAME), EMP_USERNAME) name,
H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_TITLE title, H_EMPLOYEE_VW.DEPT_NAME
dept,nvl(H_EMPLOYEE_VW.BUILDING_NAME,' ') building,
H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_EMAIL email,HPO.H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_DOH
hiredate,H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_BDAY
birthday,HPO.H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_PHEXT phone,
'<IMG SRC="'|| decode(HARPO_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_PHOTO_PATH,
'','/p_images/sbrmap_harpo.gif', owa_util.get_cgi_env('DOC_ACCESS_PATH')
|| '/' || H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_PHOTO_PATH) ||'">' image FROM
HPO.H_EMPLOYEE_VW WHERE H_EMPLOYEE_VW.EMP_ID = :employee_id
If I use this <IMG SRC="/p_images/sbrmap_hpo.gif"> in display, image is
getting displayed correctly. But If I use <#image.FIELD#>(which how we are
supposed to since we nee to get that runtime not hardcoded), its generating
the html as below
<TD ROWSPAN="2">&lt;IMG SRC=&quot;/p_images/sbrmap_hpo.gif&quot;&gt;
</TD>And this is causing the image tag not to be interpreted
correctly.
Is there any pl/sql function taht I can use for < not o be converted into &gt; ??
Any help is appreciated
Thx

Michael,
First, there is no need to use "_xxx" style variables, those are used internally in the package to avoid conflicts with user-defined variables.
Second, the purpose of "before processing..." and "after processing..." is more like "What kind of additional operations do you want to perform?", besides any DML operations, those are handled by the buttons PLSQL handlers. For example, I want to keep a separate log of actions the users of my form have performed. That kind of stuff.
Thanks,
Dmitry

  • What is the problem with native dynamic sql when counting rows in all table

    what is the problem with native dynamic sql when counting rows in all table?Giving an error "table or view does not exist". Thanks.
    DECLARE
    v_sql_string varchar2(1000);
    v_no_of_rows number;
    BEGIN
    for i in ( select table_name from all_tables )
    loop
    v_sql_string := ' select count(1) from ' || i.table_name;
    dbms_output.put_line( v_sql_string );
    --execute immediate v_sql_string into v_no_of_rows;
    end loop;
    END;

    Usually your problem can be described with 'Who cares'. I mean, for what reason do you do this? I doubt that there's a business need to get 100 % accurate answers for this. Normally such things are used to get a picture about the growth of data.
    Personally I would prefer to have up-to-date statistics for all tables and just query the number of rows from there. Sufficient for me in < 99 % of all cases.
    Just my $ .02...

  • Problem with parameter and sql query

    I've a problem with te query of my report. The query is:
    SELECT [DESCRIPTN]
          ,[LOGTIME]
          ,[STATUS]
          ,[CARDNO]
          ,[LOGDATE]
    FROM [Granta5P0].[dbo].[TIMELOG32]
    where cardno in ({?cardNo})
    the parameter as multiple values checked so I can query for more than one card.
    If i put just one parameter everything works fine but when I put 2 or more I have his error
    [http://www.megagaleria.com/pictures/Pic_10074_25.jpg]
    I realized that the field as no ' delimiting the parameters, I have a function that already does it but I don't know how to put it in my sql command.
    If anyone can help I appreciate

    Yes, because your parameter is only looking for one card.
    where cardno in ({?cardNo})
    Will you only be creating querys on two cards or less ?
    Are you trying to create an Array?
    If two or less you could
    where cardno = ({?cardNo}) or cardno = ({?cardNo2})

  • Problems with java and SQL

    Hi all. Not sure if I should ask this here or in an SQL forum. Im trying to manipulate an access database through java via the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver. The program compiles ok but when I try to execute it I get an error. According to the error there is a syntax problem in my SQL create table statement but it doesnt tell what the problem is and Ive looked over the create statement and cant find anything wrong with it. There is, however, an error code from the driver but I have no way of referencing it. Anyone here know why otherwise normal SQL code would cause a syntax error with java or how I can track the error to get a hint at whats going wrong? Here is the code and the error:
    // java program to create an access database through JDBC

    Well then I guess you can't do that.
    This looks like a bug in org.jdesktop.dataset.provider.sql.SQLCommand getUpdateStatement
    So you'll have to talk to them about what it is doing. I can only guess from the stack trace that it is creating a statement and binding the existing values to it but that it is not set up to deal with nulls.
    So on second thought it may not be a bug but more of a thing that is impossible to do with that implementation. Either way you'll have to look at the org.jdesktop.dataset.provider.sql.SQLCommand getUpdateStatement code or providers of said code for answers.

  • Problem with Apex hosted SQL Workspace

    Hi,
    I am having trouble with using currval on this site in SQL workshop. I have a demo table and have defined a sequence via sql. I successfully insert a sequence_name.nextval but when I try to add a related child record with current value of the sequence I keep getting this:
    ORA-08002: sequence ORDERS_ORDER#_SEQ.CURRVAL is not yet defined in this session
    I can check on nextval from dual and I can select the currval from dual also but when I try to use the currval in an insert, I get the same error above. Also, sometimes I get the same message even when selecting currval from dual. Seems like a problem with Apex at this hosted site. Or does Apex SQL workshop have issues with currval.

    Scott, Can you explain a little more about the difference between a hidden item that is set to display never & the other type of item which I am assuming is "display as text saves state" and display never?
    When I viewed the source for both of these I could not see the items in source code.
    Also for an item that is passed into a popup I am exposing hidden item's identity is there a different way to pass values... here is my example:
    <!-- Begin of popup for DNS_NAME -->
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    <!-- window size was 800*600 -->
    <!-- window size was 400*300 -->
    function popupPage(url) {w = open(url,"winDnsName","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=500,height=450"); if (w.opener == null) w.opener = self; w.focus(); }
    //-->
    </script>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    function callDnsNamePopup (IPId) {
    var IPId = document.getElementById('P103_IP_ID').value;
    var url;
    url = 'f?p=110:106:2066309280674317::::P106_IP_ID:' + IPId;
    w = open(url,"winDnsName","Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=800,height=600");
    if (w.opener == null)
    w.opener = self;
    w.focus();
    </script>
    <!-- END of popup for DNS Name -->
    At the same time if I set an item as hidden and display never I cannot use it with a call to a popup...

  • Problem with DBMS_OUTPUT and SQL statment with a function

    I am using SQL Developer version 3.0.04 and I have a function that has a dbms_output statment in it. I am running the following SQL to select the output of that statment.
    select A.A_FUCTION('TEST') from dual;
    The output works fine but the dbms_output line does not show in the dbms_output window. I turned on the output window etc. and i can get the select to print out the output if i wrap it in a declare begin end wrapper... and then change the query to insert the return value into variable.
    just wondering if there is way to get the dbms_output to flush out with just an SQL statment instead of in a begin end wrapper etc.

    just wondering if there is way to get the dbms_output to flush out with just an SQL statment instead of in a begin end wrapper etc.works fine in sql*plus, so I guess it must be a preference or sth. in sql*developer:

  • Problem with ADF Security / SQL Authenticator after upgrade to 11.1.1.6

    Hi,
    We have an ADF application built with JDeveloper 11.1.1.2 that's been in production for a couple of years. Now we are in the process of upgrading to 11.1.1.6 so I have upgraded WLS and ADF in a test environment and re-deployed the application there. The application uses users and groups from database using SQL Authenticator configured in WLS. This worked fine in the old version but now after the upgrade we can't log in with credentials from the database. I can log in if I add a user to the default authenticator. We didn't touch any of the authenticator settings or security realm configurations during the upgrade. Both authenticators are marked as SUFFICIENT, as they have always been.
    Has something changed in the way SQL Authenticator is used since 11.1.1.2? What could be the problem?
    Regards,
    Joonas

    Answering myself here: after recreating the SQL Authenticator and the ADF Security configuration logins are working again. Don't know where the problem was though.

  • Problem with Datasource for SQL Server Express

    I have set up a development environment to develop some processes for the HCSO client and have a question.  I have a turnkey install on my laptop with MYSQL.  The liveCycle databases are in MYSQL.  I have also installed SQL Server Express on this machine and created a table to query that will control workflow.  I added a datasource configuration in the adobe-ds.xml configuration file.  That configuration is:
    <local-tx-datasource>
                <jndi-name>HCSO</jndi-name>
                <connection-url>jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433;DatabaseName=DBName</connection-url>
                <driver-class>com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver</driver-class>
                <user-name>username</user-name>
                <password>password</password>
                <min-pool-size>1</min-pool-size>
                <max-pool-size>30</max-pool-size>
                <blocking-timeout-millis>60000</blocking-timeout-millis>
                <autoReconnect>true</autoReconnect>
                <idle-timeout-minutes>15</idle-timeout-minutes>
                <prepared-statement-cache-size>100</prepared-statement-cache-size>
                <transaction-isolation>TRANSACTION_READ_COMMITTED</transaction-isolation>
                <new-connection-sql>Select id from HCSOUser.eric</new-connection-sql>
                <check-valid-connection-sql>Select id from HCSOUser.eric</check-valid-connection-sql>
                <metadata>
                      <type-mapping>MS SQLSERVER2000</type-mapping>
                </metadata>
          </local-tx-datasource>
    In SQL Server, I created a user and a schema with the same name in a database.  I created a simple table called "eric" with one column called "id".  The user was given the appropriate default schema and given full permissions on the database and table.
    In workbench, I added a JDBC query single row activity.  I have configured the datasource as java:/HCSO and also tried java:HCSO.  I then entered the query as "Select id from HCSOUser.eric" and hit test.  Nothing appears in the results area.  I see the following in the server.log:
    2009-09-24 14:44:26,437 ERROR [org.jboss.ejb.plugins.LogInterceptor] RuntimeException in method: public abstract java.lang.Object com.adobe.idp.dsc.transaction.impl.ejb.adapter.EjbTransactionBMTAdapterLocal.doBMT(com.ad obe.idp.dsc.transaction.TransactionCallback) throws com.adobe.idp.dsc.DSCException:

  • Problem with Connection to SQL Server via Servlet (in iPlanet 6 App Server)

    Hi ,
    I am using the iPlanet ApplicationServer 6.0 SP2 for development & testing of an internet application.
    I am facing a problem when I am trying to connect to MS SQL SERVER via the native jdbcodbc driver (obdc32.dll). The error is something like this :

    I have configured a DSN with the name "fadd" on the machine with the application server and it used NT authentication. I have supplied an NT userid and password that has appropriate rights on the database "cashbook".
    When I write a java standalone program, it does connect but via a servlet it does not connect.
    Can some guide me with this problem please ?
    Anything one might have observed in the past ? (may be specific to iPlanet ?)
    Thanks a lot in advance
    ~Sunil

    I'm using iPlanet App server as well and experiencing similar problem. I load my SQL Server driver by Class.forName("com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"), then use DriverManager.getDriver() to obtain the Driver.
    However, the Driver returned is not the SQLServerDriver as expected. The Driver returned is com.netscape.server.jdbc.Driver! And then when I do Driver.getConnection("jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://MyServer"), it throws an SQLException saying that it doesn't accept a jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver subprotocol. Well, of course it doesn't, it's not a microsoft Driver at all.
    I suspect the problem is that the netscape Driver's acceptsURL() method ALWAYS returns true in iPlanet app server, thus when you getDriver(), the netscape Driver is always returned (and always returned as the first one since it's default?). Thus even though the same piece of code works fine as a standalone application, it just doesn't work on iPlanet app server.
    My work around is:
    Class.forName("my.Driver");
    Enumeration enu = DriverManager.getDrivers();
    Driver useThis = null;
    while (enu.hasMoreElements()) {
    Driver d = (Driver)enu.nextElement();
    if (d.getClass().toString().indexOf("my.Driver") > -1) {
    useThis = d;
    Mind that my above code does not have an performance issue. If you look into the source code of how DriverManager get a Driver for a particular URL, it also loads the whole set of available Drivers, then call acceptsURL() method on each of them to find the first "suitable" one. Thus time complexity is the same.
    I know this is not a very elegant solution and it defeats the purpose of having a DriverManager. Does any one else has a better way to solve this problem, like a way to specify the priority of each Driver so that SQLServerDriver is returned before the netscape Driver?
    Thanks a lot.

  • I downloaded Mozilla 4 and tried to use it then, I had to delete it and go back to 3.6 vs now I am having problems with my MS SQL 2005 why? What was changed to enable Mozilla 4 to sync with MS SQL and how do I get it corrected?

    After, trying Mozilla 4 beta and then having to go back to a previous vs of Mozilla 3.6.11 my MS OLE DB Provider for SQL 2005 Server has this error message '80040E57' I am using Windows 7 which was pre-installed on my new computer. I do not know how to fix it?

    The latest flash player release is 11,0,1,152.
    Can you upgrade to this version and see whether the crash stil exists?
    Go to get.adobe.com/flashplayer to download and install flash player.
    In case you need direct link to installer/uninstaller, please go to http://forums.adobe.com/message/3952360#3952360 to find them.

I have Windows XP Service Pack 3, I am having the same issues whether I use Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox. My HP Pavilion Desktop has 504 MB of Ram and I am using high speed internet connection. Because it was crashing so much, I used the uninstall program for Flash player to uninstall Flash, I checked my registry and removed anything I saw that was Flash. I then uninstalled Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, then I reinstalled the most recent versions from their websites. I did the same for FlashPlayer and Shockwave Flash. I went to the Adobe website and had them check to see if it was working and it shows I have FlashPlayer 10.3.181.36. The page that shows  which version of flash player goes with Windows XP states that I should have 10.3.181.34 (This is what I thought I had before I updated, I was having the same problems). When I went into my computer to see what version I have, it shows 11.5.9.620 Activex and both Flash Player and Flash Player Object is listed as 10.3.181.34. My firewall for Windows is set to medium. I also am running Norton Internet Security. It takes anywhere from 3-6minutes for some of my games to load, and I have to refresh at least 3-4 times in order to play. When I do start to play it freezes frequently and I use escape to free it up. This has been going on for a month. I have no idea what to do. I am not very computer savy and I have been learning as I go.

  • Problem with migrating data (SQL Server 2k offline data capture)

    Hi there,
    I try to migrate a SQL Server 2000 database to Oracle 10g (R2) using offline data capture. I following the online Tutorial “Migrate from Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle Database 10g Using Oracle Migration Workbench” and everything seems OK until “Migrating the tablespaces, users and user tables to the destination database” http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/10gr2_db_vmware/develop/omwb/omwb.htm#t5. I have two errors on 2 (out of 85 ) tables saying “ Failed to create default for Table :
    ORA-00907: missing right parenthesis”. I checked the column/table names and they seems OK. I don’t understand why I got these errors. However, when I checked the ‘SA’ Schema in Oracle Enterprise Manager Console, I can see all the tables (including the two problem ones).
    I then carry on to the next step and tried to migrate data to the destination database (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/10gr2_db_vmware/develop/omwb/omwb.htm#t6) I am now stuck on step 5. “…copy the files from c:\omwb\data_files to the c:\omwb\Omwb\sqlloader_scripts\SQLServer2K\<timestamp>\Oracle directory…” I cannot find the ‘c:\omwb\data_files’ directory, in fact, I don’t have a directory called ‘data_files’ on my machine. I noticed the ‘c:\omwb\Omwb\sqlloader_scripts\SQLServer2K\<timestamp>\Oracle’ directory contains the all the 85 [tableName].ctl files (plus two other files: ‘sql_load_script’ and ‘sql_load_script.sh’). From the screenshots online, ‘c:\omwb\data_files’ seems contains files with the same name as the [tableName]. Therefore, I did a search with [tableName] but cannot find any apart from the [tableName].ctl file in the ‘c:\omwb\Omwb\sqlloader_scripts\SQLServer2K\<timestamp>\Oracle’ directory. What should I do next?
    OS: windows 2003 with SP1
    Oracle: 10g Release 2
    SQL Server 2000
    Any help would be extremely appreciated.
    Helen

    Helen,
    Sorry, I am new here. Could you please tell me (or point me to the related documents about) how to output the Oracle model as a script?Action-> Generate Migration Scripts
    And what do you mean by ‘The default conversion may have failed’? Do you mean data type mapping? I went through all the columns and tables and checked the data types in the Oracle model already. The processing for the default for a table column could have something the basic workbench default parser cannot handle.
    I hope you are finding the workbench to be a productive aid to migration.

    Hi All
    Can someone help me please?
    ive just got a new machine and not had this problem before, at one point the error which appeared briefly before the command prompt window disappeared said it was the namepipe, so i enabled this, that didnt work so i uninstalled, and reinstalled SQL Server 2005.
    The next error message i received when the command prompt was closing was (in brief)
    HRESULT 0xFFFFFFF Level 16, State 1
    an error occurred whilst establishing a connection to the server
    Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft Native Client : Login timeout expired.
    I have just updated to sql server 2008 and the same thing happened. I cant paste into the SQLCMD window and I havent got a 1> command prompt.
    I tried to drop down into dos prompt and it wouldn't accept it said "the filename, directory name or volume syntax is incorrect".
    I turned on iis, ive tried everything I can think of, i have come to the conclusion it must be something to do with the version of Windows Vista Home Premium I am running, I haven't had any problems on any other machines XP or Vista.
    Any help would be gratefully accepted.
    Cheers
    sgblank

    You haven't supplied an authentication context for your connection so you can't connect and it times out. Try the following at a command prompt:
    Code SnippetSqlCML -S "machine-name\SQLEXPRESS" -E
    This will log in using Windows Authentication.

  • Designer 9.0.2.7 - problems with capturing PL/SQL packages

    Hello,
    I would appreciate any help regarding the following issue:
    We tried to capture in Designer 9.0.2.7 the existing PL/SQL packages from an Oracle 9i database and we have met some problems.
    Even the package has a body containing two public procedures, when capturing, the Designer generates warnings that say the PL/SQL package body is empty. Therefore, the Designer capture the body content and write it in the PL/SQL Block of the PL/SQL Definition property, but the content of the body is preceded with the " character.
    This makes problem when generating the "ddl" for the package (the package is not created correctly in the DB).
    In addition, when generating the "ddl", the "END package_name" is added twice.
    Other problem is that the package specification information from Designer is just "END package_name;"
    For some of the packages containing only a list of public procedures, without any other variables declarations, the Designer does not capture these procedures as separate subprograms in the package definition, as it does other times. In this case, the package body is entirely captured in the PL/SQL Block and with the " character before content.
    Is it some settings that can be done or some rules about the format of the PL/SQL procedures in order for Designer to capture all packages in same manner and correctly?
    Thank you,
    Claudia

    Hi Keith,
    I am connecting to the database as the package owner..
    I have noticed earlier that I have problems when capturing triggers also.. The content of one large trigger contains 36371 characters and when capturing it from DB, the content was truncated to 28020 characters in Designer.
    Our ideas with capturing the DB packages/procedures were to use the Designer as version control system.
    We wanted to have all objects used in a project in Designer.. entities, tables, triggers, packages, procedures, Forms files, etc. in order to make a configuration for a project release.
    Thank you,
    Claudia
