Problems with itunes library file. xml

Every time I open itunes it starts importing- itunesmusiclibrary. XML. Then I get a message that file ituneslibrary.itl does not appear to be a valid itunes library file. itunes has attempted to recover your itunes library and renamed this file to ituneslibrary (damage)1itl. This process happens every time I open up itunes. How do I fix this?

Have iTunes rebuild your .xml file. You can do this by renaming your .xml file and have itunes create a new one when it opens. You will have to reimport all your songs, podcast, and movie/tv show files. Yet this will create a new uncorrupted file.

  • Problems with itunes library and order of tracks

    Hello,
I downloaded the new update, and I'm having a problem with my library when accessed from the browser. Before itunes 7, my tracks were in order that they appeared on the album, now they are in alphabetical order. Is there a way to make it go back the way it was before the update--in order by track number?
    thanks.
    chris

I was having the same problem and I knew there had to be an easy answer. I knew it for sure when I saw your topic unanswered. Just right click, or control click on the bar where it says name, album, genre, etc. and select "track number," this will give you the option to put them in their original order.
You can also access this under "view options" in the view pull down menu.

  • Cover Art Problems with iTunes Library on a NAS

I have my iTunes library stored on a Synology NAS.  I use a networked Mac Mini as a dedicated iTunes player, I set it up so the Mac Mini finds my iTunes library on the NAS.  The cover art for all of my movies that I ripped from my home DVD collection shows up fine in iTunes.  But the cover art for movies that I downloaded from iTunes does not show up, either in iTunes on my Mac Mini, or on my AppleTV (2nd Gen).  I suspect the problem comes from the fact that I keep the iTunes library in a separate place (on the NAS) rather than on the computer that runs iTunes.  Is there a fix to this?

I'm having troubles with my Itunes in combination with the synology server as well...
I'm getting audio from the server, all of this is working great.... But I'm not getting any cover art! I'm also not getting the optn to view the info of tracks. This is all working when I'm listing to track placed on my Mac in stead of the server.
Could you help me setting up de synology? Is there any structure neccesary on the server? Could you send me a screen grab of yours?

  • Problems with itunes library

my music in the itunes doesn't appears in my library. also, every time i add a song donts appears in my library, but the song is updated to the ipod. my library is always empty. I'll appreciate your help. Thank you very much

    Hi Andreas,
Maybe just the database has been corrupted.
In case your playlists, ratings etc. aren't that important you may start from scratch:
    Quit iTunes
    Through Finder navigate to
    ./Users/YourUserName/iTunes
Move both "iTunes Library" s well as "iTunes Music Library.xml" to your Desktop
    Launch iTunes
You will be asked if iTunes should look for audio tracks - Don't
    Goto iTunes Preferences
Point the iTunes Music Folder location to the folder that contains your tracks
    (Usually ./Users/YourUserName/iTunes/iTunes Music)
Disable "Copy Music to ...." (Enable that after having finished this description)
    Quit Preferences
From iTunes Menu File choose "Add to Library..." and select the folder that contains all your tracks.
    Viel Glück

  • Moving to Mac - problem with iTunes Library

Hi, I am moving from a PC to a MacBook Pro. I have exported my library on the PC, and tried to import it to the MacBook, but get a message that some of the songs in the library were no added because they could not be found. I've made the changes in iTunes to point it to a shared network drive that holds all of our iTunes files. So when I got this message I peeked inside the library.xml file from the PC and found that it was point to \\localhost\y:\songfilename(s) because on the PC the shared network drive was mapped as drive Y. So how do I go about getting my playlists and ratings onto the MacBook Pro?

Just add one track on your MacBook from that shared folder
    Export the Library to *.xml
Compare the paths used in this file to that \\localhost\y:\songfilename(s)
Open a copy of the PC *.xml
Do a search & replace to correct the paths
Again try to import the resulting file on your Mac

  • Problems With iTunes Library in Garageband 10.0.1

Hi, If you GarageBand (latest version) fades media and downloads a song from the iTunes Libary in GarageBand, there are problems with the latency! Continuous dropouts and stuttering. But if one loads the same track in GarageBand from the desktop, there are no problems. The loops and effects seem to work when inserting them directly ind GarageBand.

I was finally able to resolve this problem by reinstalling iLife '11.  Immediately after installing I had to do a software update to bring iPhoto up-to-date.  Can't guarantee this will work for everyone, but it worked for me.

  • Problems with iTunes Library in iApps

Since upgraded to Lion, I can no longer access the iTunes library from within iApps (iMovie, Final Cut Pro X, GarageBand, etc.).  When using the in-app browser I get the message "Open iTunes to populate this list" but, after opening iTunes, nothing happens.  Is anyone else seeing this or knows of a solutions?
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Problem with iTunes library import

    Good evening,
Recently I imported my old Mac iTunes library to a PC that was recently constructed for me. The procedure of import was simple: transfer the data from the Mac into the PC, replace the PC's "iTunes" folder (I had made a backup of the older folder), and authorize the computer for any purchases made under my account.
Upon loading iTunes, the program needed to "update" the library. During this process, a power failure occurred due to a storm and I had to restart the process. When iTunes finished updating the library, I had noticed that my library has many entires whose files were missing. Curiously, I had clicked on one of these songs complaining about a missing file, searched for the file in the library, and voila, it was there - except that every time I tried to play the song, iTunes would not budge (not freeze, just wouldn't play the song) and continue to display the Apple emblem on the display port on the top of the window.
I tried trashing the library file, but that did not work, as the entire library was completely left blank (I placed it back in the iTunes folder). Is there perhaps any way to rebuild the entire library?
    Thanks for responses.

  • New computer problems with itunes library

I really hope someone can help me. I have purchased a new laptop as my old one died and when i have plugged in my iphone and none of my music is available in the library - I understand that all the files are stored on my old computer but is there anyway i can get my existing music into the new library that has been created?
    Hopefully that will make sense.
    Thanks

iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod or iPhone to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod or iPhone as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Problems with Itunes - library on Itouch

my whole itunes library is erased, I do have it on my ipod, is there any way, i can copy it back to my computer?

There are 3rd party Mac/PC applications which can do this for you. Senuti is one example but there are many others.

  • Problems with ITunes and files

    Hi all
My laptop recently broke and I ended up throwwing it away , forgetting it had all my Itune library in it.  Luckily I have all my music on my IPod Touch.
Is there anyone who can tell me IF OR HOW I can transfer music from Ipod into Itunes?  I don't have the laptop so cannot transfer through network, from hard drive etc.
Please help, I am a Zumba Instructor and this music is vital for me.
    Thank you

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music using a third-party programlike one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
Some programs like PhoneView can do more than music.
    - If you are in the USA you can also redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Problems with itunes library transfer

    Hi
I am having trouble with my nano and itunes. I am syncing my ipod and itunes is showing that the transfer of songs from my library is in process, but when its finished (after about half an hour) I disconnect my ipod, but there are no songs on my ipod. Though they are showing on itunes that they have been transferred.
Can anyone help or suggest what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks
    Karen

Ouch! Yes, I always back up my iTL file weekly - more often if I've added/changed lots of things, and ALWAYS before an iTunes update.
There are some 3rd-party iPod managers that can get stuff off an iPod. I can't recommend any since I haven't tried them. Here is a wiki on them, and you can google for even more choices.
edit - did you make sure to check in a folder named Previous iTunes Libraries?

  • Problems with iTunes library copied from Mac

I copied my iTunes from my Mac, and authorized the Windows 7 iTunes to be one of my legal computer.   Some songs wouldn't copy because Windows could not handle the file name or path, but most did.
But iTunes can't find the songs.    When I double click the the songs within iTunes\iTunesMedia\Music, they play, and my iTunes shows one broken link and the new link, which apparently is in the right place.
How do I change things so that iTunes is looking the right place?

  • "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved" problem...

Well, even on iTunes 10, the problem doesn't seems to be fixed yet.
I'm still getting the error no matter what I do (I tried disabling the read-only mark in the iTunes folder, but it won't work because iTunes rolls it back to it's previous state).
Has anyone found a fix for this issue?

With that particular message nowadays, Eset security software interfering with iTunes library file writes is the likeliest culprit.
Do you have a 64-bit version of Windows 7? If so, give the following instructions a try:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11244744&#11244744
(If you're 32-bit, all your program files will be in the iTunes folder in \Program files\)

  • Problem with iTunes: The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. (-48)

    Hi,
For some time now, every time I open my iTunes I get the following error:
"The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. An unknown error occurred (-48)"
Other than that, iTunes seems to be working fine, but I wonder if I need to worry over this error (I don't want to lose my library)
Has anyone else seen this error? (I tried a search but got no results)
