Problems with Premiere and Photoshop

I have recently downloaded photoshop and premiere, however i have run into a problem. When i try to run either program, it says i need to sign in, but after a brief load screen it says that either i am not connected to the internet (which i am) or my clock is not set right (which seems irrelevant). It says i must sign in within 7 days or the program with stop working. What can i do?

  • Anyone else having a Problem with Leopard and Photoshop CS3?

I'm using CS3 with Leopard 10.5.4 at work and there are some very aggravating anomalies, that I'd like to nail down to a cause. Most frequently, when switching from apps to P'Shop, the menu bar stays for the previous app, i.e. when going from Finder to P'shop, the menu bar still says Finder and has Finder options. Changing from Lightwave to P'Shop, the menu bar remains Lightwave.
Occasionally, an Adobe app - P'Shop or InDesign - will simply disappear and not come back. The icon in the dock shows it as active, but no amount of clicking, Command-Tabbing will reveal the app and I have to Force Quit, losing unsaved changes.
I have a feeling it's Leopard, since, I've used CS3 on Tiger and CS4 on Tiger and never had a problem.
I'm wondering if upgrading to the latest Leopard would make much of a difference.
Has anyone come across this and found any kind of answers?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
    -Vincent

    > Just because it doesn't happen to Phil (who may not use all of the same features of the Suite that others do anyway) does NOT mean that these problems are not real and are not mere PEBCAK.
Right. If someone is having a problem associated with Tiger, it's PEBAK. If Leopard is involved, it's automatically because of Leopard. Apparently, with Apple's latest OS, trouble shooting problems are no longer necessary - just blame it on Leopard and call it a day.
    b FUD
I find the dynamics here really interesting. This thread would have been very different if Vincent had posted with problems involving Tiger. Would have gone something like this:
After admonishing him for not providing more information about his setup by posting the obnoxious big blue link on how to ask questions (ahem - we know NOTHING about his machine or configuration, such as which machine, how much RAM, scratch disk or attached peripherals), there'd be all kinds of trouble shooting advice given - "try a new user", "repair permissions", "run DiskWarrior, and on and on ...
But no, since he mentions Leopard, none of that is apparently necessary and the completely, utterly
    b irresponsible
advice is given ... "that's just the way Leopard is".
Those are some serious problems he's reporting that have nothing to do with Leopard. Something is obviously hosed!
As for discounting my experience because I don't use every app in the suite as extensively as I do Photoshop, I'm FAR more qualified to discuss Leopard and CS issues than Ann or Neil who do not use Leopard at all (and have never used it as far as I know.)
"Others have problems with it", is their battle cry but it's extremely weak. Do I really need to remind you all that these forum are ALWAYS filled with people who have problems, regardless of version or OS? You act as if this forum was a ghost town when Tiger and CS3 were current!
Gee, Ann ... people are STILL reporting problems with 10.5 and CS3? How shocking! Guess what - people are STILL reporting problems with 10.4 and CS3 too! Let me make a prediction - people will have problems with 10.8 and CS9!
    Vincent-
    > I don't really deal with fonts anyway ...
Yes. You do. Even if you never type a single line of text, every application uses fonts to create menus and other GUI items. If one of those fonts are bad, it can create all kinds of problems, including the very problems you mention.
The fact that you don't seem aware of this and you're still using 10.5.4 leads me to believe you're not familiar with the basic practices of maintaining a healthy system. Again, how did you install Leopard on that machine?
Look, if you're simply trying to justify using CS4, go right ahead. It's a worthwhile upgrade in it's own right. However, if you install it on that machine in it's current state, CS4 will NOT fix your problems because you do NOT have a healthy system.
You asked for experiences with Leopard - I can launch every application in both CS3 and CS4 suites
    i simultaneously,
and STILL not have your issues. I haven't experienced anything like your CS3 problems in Leopard - on both a 2006 Mac Pro and a 2008 Macbook.
If you'd like help to try and figure out the real problem, I'm more than happy to help. If not, Adobe will gladly take your money ...

  • 32 Bit HDR Problem With Lightroom and Photoshop CS6

    Hello all:
In following Julieanne's Adobe TV topic here ->  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/quick-tip-creating-32bi t-hdr-images-in-lr-41/ a problem arises when trying to save from Photoshop CS 6. According to Julieanne you hit ctrl-s so that PS saves the HDR image and then it should show up in Lightroom. What I have found is that hitting crtrl-s saves it as a PSD file which does automatically show up in Lightroom, however Lightroom but  can't read it. If I do a save-as, and select TIFF as the extension Lightroom will not automatically see the TIFF file. I have to synchronize the folder in order to have Lightroom import it.
Why would Lightroom automatically see a PSD file (that is of no use) and not see the TIFF file?
Is there a setting in PS that will change the preferences to save as a TIFF instead of a PSD file?
Using Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop CS6.
    Thanks,
    Terry

Go to LR's preferences > External Editing tab and change the top pop-up to TIFF and you should be all set.

  • 10.4.10 image problem with Firefox and Photoshop on Intel and OD AFP server

We are working on a new client image (perfect client image to deploy with Netboot) and our Intel machines, new and old, are throwing errors in CS2 Photoshop and refusing to launch Firefox when we log in to home folders from the OSXserver, local accounts run OK. The Intel Mac Pros we got last year ran Photoshop fine using last years image. Power Macs are running OK logged in on the server and local. The biggest variable is we are now running 10.4.10, the last image was 10.4.9. Anyone seen this, any thoughts, I have tried everything I can think of.
    Thanks!

I haven't had any problems with 10.4 and solaris 10. At some point Apple upgraded to some version of OpenSSH that required the addition of the -Y switch to make things work well.

  • Problem with iPhoto and Photoshop CS3

iPhoto is starting to get on my nerves. I just spent the better part of a day figuring out a scanner interface issue--now something weird is going on with CS3.
Today, when I uploaded images from my iPhone to my laptop and tried to edit them in CS3 using the cropping tool, the image size went from like 10 inches to 1 pixel. If I go into image size and try to restore the size, the image comes up blank.
I ended up having to crop the image in iPhoto and complete the editing in Photoshop. Apparently cropping is the only Photoshop tool that's affected. What's going on? This is taking me twice as long as it should.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The following may be of interest:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Since I have installed Lion my computer doesn't shut down properly and I have constant problems with LR and Photoshop. Any suggestions?

Since I have installed Lion my computer does not shut down properly. I sometimes cannot eject a flash drive or eject a disc and my LR and photoshop constantly crash. I ran all the updates. Any suggestions? I purchased the upgrade online so I dont have a disc to reinstall it.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
If you have an optical drive, make sure there is no disc in it.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged during the time something abnormal was happening. That time might be before or after the boot.
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutes after the boot time, not before. If the problem is a system crash or shutdown failure, post the messages from before the boot time, when the system was about to crash or was failing to shut down. In either case, please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning or the end of the log extract.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Problem with bridge and Photoshop CS4

When in Bridge CS4, I want to open a JPEG photo in Photoshop, when double clicking It opens PAINT and not Camera Raw. I have the CS4 on a laptop and no problem there. I matched all the settings and still the desktop opens PAINT instead.

You could always set all to default and start from scratch.
It's not a very well designed dialog!

    I could help.
When exporting to Encore or Premiere, the program block.

Have you checked out this post from Adobe?  I know it says for After Effects but it definitely applies to Premiere too.  We have some AJA cards whose components in /library/QuickTime were causing similar Adobe QT32 server hangups; removing them solved our issue but also broke compatibility with older apps like FCP 7.

  • Problem with PREVIEW and photoshop JPG's

    hi ...
    just trying out the new version of Adobe's CS6 Photoshop;
exported a dozen files as JPG's for an album, but my app,
"JAlbum", which I normally use for HTML albums rendered
them as totally black, and when I try to open them in PREVIEW,
(they look normal when they open), and RE-SAVE them,
PREVIEW will not allow the save, and the estimated file
size on the "save as" is ZERO KB.
would anyone have a clue of what is going on?
    thanks!

Check the rights where you're trying to save them, or change the Save location for a test.

  • Problems with Premiere Elements 12

I've been using Adobe's "Elements" applications since Vs 3.0. Each release seems to include undocumented features that cause problems, and don't get fixed until a next major release, for which we are charged a tidy sum.
"Premiere 12" and its associated "Organizer" are no exceptions. Background:
    1. FINALLY am running a new PC considering I'm using AVCHD "m2ts" file formats generated by Sony HD Camcorder, for which previous PC and versions of Adobe Premiere Elements (8, 10, etc.) were fairly sluggish with their performance. New PC: Windows 8.1, 32GB RAM, >7TB HDD space, Intel i7 CPU, GIGABYTE MB, NVIDIA GeForec GTX 770 Video Adapter...plenty of computing power!
    2. Installed Photoshop/Premiere Elements/Organizer on C: drive, default locations.
    3. Experienced following problems, for which several have been kind enough to offer suggestions for repair, but none so far have worked.
         a. When adding "text" captions, after a few have been created the control panel for text loses contact with the "Style" and "Effects" modules, making these capabilities non-functional.
         b. When creating menus for discs, the DVD menu navigation operates correctly, but the Blu-ray menus do not. The "Stop" markers, while functional for DVDs, are not functional for Blu-ray discs. When a video is played that encounters a "stop" marker with a DVD build, the end action is properly realized with the main menu then making a reappearance, allowing one to make the next choice. When a video is played through to encounter a "stop" marker with a Blu-ray build, the video does NOT return to the main menu, but rather continues playing into the 2nd movie (or beyond) until it reaches the absolute end of content on the disc...at which time we are then returned to the main menu. Finally reading the manual, it indicates that this is a problem! FIX!?
         c. "Organizer," which works with both Premiere and Photoshop Elements, is highly unstable when working with AVCHD files, while it performs "normally" with still images (photos, etc.). I have over 4,000 AVCHD (m2ts) video clips that I was attempting to bring into Organizer. My first attempt was to let Organizer "see" all of the files and to "bring them into" its catalog. However, after a short period of time, with less than 100 or so video clips identified and thumbnailed, Organizer either stops working and hangs, or crashes totally. I found that to get these 4,000 files into Organizer I had to manually pick around 50 or so files at a time, which Organizer seems able to begin its "first stage" of identifying, creates "placeholders" in the Organizer's screen, then crashes or hangs. At that point, I must restart Organizer, which will then continue on to successfully build thumbnails. This process was repeated until all 4,000+ files were recognized and ID'd. Regarding this issue: I just updated my "Nero" to "Nero 2014 Platinum," which comes with its own "Organizer" or "Media Manager." it is VERY similar in nature to Adobe's "Organizer," with one major difference...IT WORKS! Nero's manager imported not only the 4,000+ AVCHD files into its catalog, but rumaged around my entire system finding photos and video files I'd long since forgotten about! I've not yet used the new Nero video editing/production tools, but won't be surprized if I find that all works equally as well.
Not having any "fixes" for these problems, I find I am forced to use other applications (Vegas 12, Pinnacle 17, or perhaps now "Nero" as well) to get on with our production work. Note: I had been using Adobe Premiere 6.0, then CS-4, for a while but with changes in OSs found that these products as well evolved with issues of their own. Not going to spend the big bucks to purchase more expensive problems that don't otherwise get addressed without spending even more $$$ for the next major updates!
    Help?
    George

    Bill;
YES! It WAS Sonic that I’d suspicioned was at the core of these issues in the past. I’d run into problems a few years ago with various versions of “Creator,” “Roxio,” etc. as well as another similar products, and found “Sonic” to be the common denominator with all similar problems. I had NO idea that Adobe had also chosen to implement a 3rd party’s product (Sonic) as part of their offerings! Well, that says a lot!
Also did NOT know that Sonic had been sold off to Rovi! Searching the internet…shows this was a big deal back in 2010! Hadn’t been following these things! Looks like Rovi is out to capture the world…would be a nefarious event indeed if they fail to maintain what Sonic has sold to various entities which have incorporated their modules into the various products we continue to own and purchase today!
I don’t know which cave or rock that Rovi’s been living under, or which marketing outfit they’d signed up with that provided the evaluation that Rovi appears to be reacting to, but we at least are still engaged in sending off videos around the world via DVD/Blu-ray media (and on rare occasions, VHS tape!). Their assessment that delivery of video by physical disc is dead is either wishful thinking or badly mistaken in my opinion. Try, worst case, supplying a video to a person living on an island off of Queensland, Australia, for example, who has NO internet connectivity!
I know that streaming is a big deal (Netflix, etc.), and that the new buzzword “Cloud” has taken over a lot of the computing world’s philosophy of late…but neither of these “new” ideas are implemented to the extent they would like to believe…and are the domain of mostly “new” users living in areas where these technologies are available. They are cutting off a vast number of video watchers who employ neither of these technologies nor have access to them, who, believe it or not, are still using VHS video tape, DVDs, and/or Blu-ray media to watch videos! The relatively small percentage of individuals who use (can afford, or have access to) either streaming or the cloud does not justify not taking care of business and dropping support for all these products that implement their procured technologies.
I for one have great/fast access to the Internet (50Mbps +), but really am not of the mindset that I trust uploading/saving critical data to the “Cloud,” and do not do so…even though Microsoft’s latest “Window 8.1” and several other procured applications provide plenty of opportunity to do so! I think the latest stories re Hacking proves this point…and I have experienced the loss of stored data (websites) over the years via professional website hosting facilities to the point where I know I don’t yet trust the “cloud” to be the repository of my data either…a service which cannot guarantee either the presence or security of data!
I do also enjoy Netflix’s streaming technology…even though there are occasions whereby a movie is interrupted to buffer additional video data. Sometimes much more frequently than I would appreciate! So…streaming is also not the end all of video watching either! OK…I have rented a DVD or two in the past from Netflix which had been scratched or badly handled, which also provided aggravation as well!
So long as the industry continues to sell the technology of the day to us consumers who invest in their products, and so long as industry will do what they do best…to continue refining and upgrading capabilities, they must also continue to provide the “cross over” technologies, the continued support that would span at least a few generations of video products that will allow us to continue viewing videos obtained at an earlier time. Right now we see VHS tape is already at its end of life usefulness…and yet there remains support for converting such media. We also see the vast majority of products purporting to support DVD and Blu-ray builds…the latest of video products…and yet, the underpinnings of these applications appears to be diminishing already…
Thanks so much for the feedback and update and the opportunity to vent! Do we know how Adobe is/will be reacting to these events? Will they spend the bucks to come up with their own code to replace that which is not supported any longer by 3rd parties?
    George

  • Problem with Premiere Elements 11 uploading mp4 files

I tried to upload a video footage for editing. The video was taken using a GoPro camera and the output is mP4. The footage playback on Premiere Elements 11 was choppy and stalled often. I asked someone else with the same program and he experienced the same issue- so much so that he quit using Adobe's software and switched to Mac/iMovie. Any thought on why or how to fix the problem? I emailed Adobe support a couple of times for the problems encountered in both Premiere and Photoshop but have gotten no response from them. Thanks.

    Gumbie10
Appreciated the follow up. Would like to offer some considerations....
    1. If you are looking at choppy video, then you must be on the Premiere Elements 11 Expert Timeline or Quick Filmstrip in order to see the choppy video in the Edit Mode monitor. Consequently, to see the video you had to import it.
    a. How did you import it? Add Media/Files and Folders to get the files into Project Assets from where you dragged the files to the Expert Timeline. (In the Quick Filmstrip route, there is no Project Assets intermediary. It is Add Media/Files and Folder/with direct to one of the scenes in the Filmstrip).
    b. Once you had the files on the Expert Timeline or Quick Filmstrip, did you render the files there by hitting the Render button or by hitting the Enter key of the computer main keyboard?
    2. Premiere Elements 11 automatically takes over setting up the project preset for a new project. The project preset should match the properties of the source media. Sometimes it does the set OK; sometimes, not. Check to see what the program has set if you did not set the project preset yourself manually. (Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, and Frame Size.)
    3. If you are using the GoPro Hero 3 Black at the 1080p set, then the video codec (compression) is AVCHD (MPEG4 AVC/.H264). The question becomes at what frame rate...30, 60, or other progressive frames per second. From what you wrote, apparently what you have has a .mp4 file extension (that is what is called the container, the format that wraps the video and audio compressions).
    4. Then we come to the matter of your photos. What are the pixel dimensions that you are trying to use for this Premiere Elements project? Have you gotten to importing the photos or is it only the videos that you have tried to import into a Premiere Elements 11 project?
    Please review the above.
But, I am also concerned about
Meantime, for still images, I did my editing on PS Element 11 and used Live Movie Maker to put together the video. It works for me. I had trouble with the output (to burn DVD/Cd and to upload to PS showcase) in the PS Element as well.
Thanks again for the input. I'll give an update later.
Do you want two separate projects, one for video and one for stills or is all that a workaround for overall issues.?
Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification on anything that I have written. I will rewrite if necessary so that we are in sync.
The answers are in the details.
    More later.
