Problems with Remote App on iOS 4?

I have a new iPhone 4 and tried to use the Remote App in Connection with Apple TV. While I'am able to pair the remote app with Apple TV, I cannot use it properly. It works for a while, then it get's disconnected with a message that maybe a Firewall might be activated in the Router.
I have no problems with Remote App connected to my iTunes Library. I also tried it with a iPod Touch which is still on iOS 3.1.3, no problems to connect to the Apple TV from there as well.
Are there any known problems with iOS 4 and Apple TV?

May I ask what wifi hardware you use? It might be an wifi issue, but one which is only related with the "Bonjour" protocol which seems to be used for the Remote App. I found this thread which is older (iOS 3) but describing exactly the same problems:

bear in mind that the iphone4 is now "n" wifi compatible (2.4Ghz), so could it be that the "n" part of your network is poor and thus why you only see the problem on the iphone4 ?
At least it is not poor when using it from other devices or moving a lot of data in other Apps. It is all Apple Hardware (nothing older than 2 years), and maybe that's the problem. I never had network hardware which made so much trouble, as Apples Airport series. I wouldn't wonder if it is an incompatibility between a new wifi chip in the iPhone 4 and a older Revision of an Airport device. But I don't know how to check - is there a system.log on the iPhone which I can access somehow?

    I am using iTunes 10.4.1, and am trying to use the remote app on my iphone to control my itunes with it. I was able to connect previously, before I upgraded to Lion OS, before upgrading to the latest versions of iTunes and my iPhone as well. But now, the connection is just dead.
    I tried to re-add my iTunes onto my iphone again, but I couldn't find this box to check in my iTunes under Preferences > Devices -
    "Look for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad Remotes"
    Someone please advice me?

  • Problems with remote app solution suggestion!

    I have been trying to get the Remote app to work on my windows 8 PC, but to no result. I am using an iPhone 5S. I believe the problem is that my PC is a desktop connected to the internet via ethernet. This is a very common issue. I spent around 5 hours on the phone with apple support, but all I got from them was a very long conversation. Even the senior support supervisor could not help me. Many people use iTunes on PCs that are connected via ethernet and they are unable to use the Remote app because it lacks a very basic and simple feature: to enter the host IP manually. When a PC is connected via ethernet to a router rather than wirelessly it cannot be found by the iPhone as a device that exists in the network, so you need to find it manually. Hopefully some of the higher-ups will hear this simplest of ideas and implement it, so the remote app no longer gets 1 or 2 star reviews saying it does not work.

    That's not correct, homesharing works over wired, wireless and mixed. If you have enabled homesharing correctly on both devices, then there' same problem with your network or settings, there is no need to add manual IP's, in fact there is nowhere to do so.

    I updated my software to iOS 5.1 but all the apps crash after 10 or 20 seconds from opened, including the default apps…all the apps has been purchase from Itunes store…What should i do? I already restore my Ipod 4G

    I have the same problem with my iPhone 4. After the 5.1 update, any and all apps began randomnly crashing and at any time. I don't normally post on forums but these crashes are bloody rediculous....Apple, I hope you read this. The previous iOS version had no problems. I've tried everything including a full phone restore.
    As far as I can tell, it's related to the phone talking to and/or looking for data (either over 3G or WiFi). If I turn off all cellular data and the WiFi, the crashes stop.
    It's a real pain day to day. For example, if I'm out for a walk, I need cellular data for the GPS app to work. But then some time into my walk, all running apps stop (including GPS and music). I've then lost my walking distance info. Even at home with just the music running, I've often had to restart the music app 5 times in 10 minutes.

    hi, I'm trying to get Remote to work for my ipod touch. I'm running windows vista ultimate with the newest itunes, and I have iTunes set to look for ipod remotes automatically. I've also pinged my iPod successfully and made sure that it was on the same network as my computer. But no matter what I do, I can't get it to show up on iTunes. I tried turning my firewall off as well as some router configurations. Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

    I struggled with this issue for months.  Both the remote app and iTunes had updated and at some point afterward I realized I could no longer connect to my iTunes Library using Homesharing.  After much searching and troubleshooting iTunes and the Remote app, I looked into potential network issues.  I have Verizon Fios, with which is supplied a Actiontec router.  For me, the issue was solved when I disabled IGMP Proxy within the Advanced settings for the router.  This change to the router setting yielded instant results.

    Ever since I installed the latest iOS on my iPod (third generation) I have issues. App, especially games are crashing  A LOT. I think either they are making it all compatible with iPhone 4 or iPad or something is really wrong. I cannot afford to pay any more apps until this is solved. Anyone else having these issues?

    One needs to go to the apps store --> select featured apps --> go to bottom of the screen and select your apple id tab --> on the pop up screen select 'view apple id' --> go to region and change to appropriate region.... Cheers

  • AIO REMOTE app on IOS

    I use the AiO Remote app on IOS to scan legal size documents.  I think my problem is with the latest update of this app as I never had this issue in the past.  I scan the multi-page LEGAL size doc with no issues.  I see the doc pages in legal size format in the app.  Once I click on SAVE, all of a sudden the app shrinks the legal size to fit letter size.  I can't find how to disable this.  Thanks in advance for any help.

    The idea was great, however the development seems to be stopped on this.
    It hasn't been updated since Dec of last year.
    Will there be a new version of EOS Remote app for iOS?
    Features I'd like to see from the upgrade (if there's any)
    1) Full size image transfer
    2) Video file transfer
    3) Indicate if a file is already downloaded to the phone or not.

    The EOS Remote App currently works with up to iOS version 7.  I am not sure if or when the next version of the app will be released, or what features will be added to it, but I have forwarded your suggestions along.  This feedback is very important to Canon.  Please continue to check in the app store from time to time for any updated versions that may be released.

  • Problem with iBooks app on iPhone

    Having a major problem with iBooks app. Can only get free classic books but nothign contemporary. Cannot update the app either. Works perfectly on my ipad! Should I delete the app and reload? Will I losse all the books I already have??

    It is true that all purchases should share a single Apple ID. It is also true that both iOS and OS X allow only one iCloud account per user. And it is true than every Apple ID has an iCloud account, and every iCloud account an Apple ID [1]. Most unfortunately, it is also true that many (most?) Apple customers have multiple Apple IDs (even if they don't know it - I have 4 [2]).
    So far, so simple. Here is the catch. On both iOS and OS X the Apple ID for purchases need not match the Apple ID for account-specific iCloud services. Life is much nicer if they do match, but they don't have to. Part of the bug I ran into was related to a configuration error, probably arising during Mavericks install over Mountain Lion, that gave iBooks my user account's iCloud services Apple ID rather than the iOS/iTunes store Apple ID.
    Apple's identity management is a mess of almost unfathomable proportion -- the sort of mess that every smart exec runs from. I'm certain it's gummed up by contracts with rights holders, disparate internal systems, unfortunate choices and a nest of secondary assumptions. It would take a will of iron and a lot of cleverness to solve. I'm curious whether Tim Cook will force the fix.
    [1] Curiously, however, an iCloud account does not need to have an email address, and the iCloud account email address need not match the associated Apple ID. This is yet another unfortunate edge case of the Apple ID mess.

    Possibly, but what problems?  Any errors?
    If you are really running iOS 3.1.2 as your signature suggests, that is likely the issue.  Many apps now require iOS 4.3 or higher.

  • Problem with In-App Notifications

    I keep having a problem with in-app notifications sicne my IOS 7 upgrade on my iPad Mini.
    The notifications I'm on about, are as follows:
    I'm in various Social Networking apps such as Skout, MeetMe etc You send a message or add a friend in that app. It comes up with the notifications "Friend Request Sent" "Message Sent" however there are no buttons underneath to press ok. You have to come out of the app, and then go back in.
    This problem was occurring in IOS 7.0 and I updated to 7.0.2, however still having the same problem. I think this is an IOS bug which has not been found until now.

    Was working. Stopped out of nowhere. Did not change any configuration, when stopped, tried to stir at all and does not work ...
