Problems with resizing tablespace.

Hello
When I installed Oracle Application Express I use SYSAUX as default tablespace.
During unsuccessful transaction I increased this tablespace up to 5,5 Gb. After dropping all unneeded data I have 700 Mb of used space.
When I tried to alter database datafile ... resize 1 Gb, I received an error ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value .
Is there some way to defragment tablespace
Best Regards, Kostya Proskudin
P.S. I use 10g

Never use SYSAUX or SYSTEM tablespace as the default tablespace. Query dba_extents to find out which segments are located towards the end of the file, then move these segments to another tablespace and then you'll be able to shrink the datafile, unless of course, a sys or system extent is occupying the space.

  • Problems with resizable container

    Hi,
    I have a resizable JPanel with cubes inside it.
    The problem is when I resize the JPanel the cubes inside it gets resized only after I move the borders of the JPanel ~14 pixels...
    The problem is in the X axis...
    The Y axis "jumps" every ~5 pixels...
    I need content of the JPanel also to resize every 1 pixel (so it would be on the borders of the JPanel)...
    Any Ideas?

    I guess that the only solution is NOT to use gridLayoutWell that would explain the behaviour. It would have been nice if that information was included in the original question. Thats why I always ask for a SSCCE, since you never no what information is importan or not.
    All components in a GridLayout have the same size. So if you have a Grid with 10 component that is 400 pixels wide each component will be 40 pixels wide. As suggested above the size of each component will only be adjusted when you incread the width by 10 or more (since you have 10 components in each row).
    Doing it manually would also be a pain. If you increase the width by 1 pixel you would only be able to increase the size of one component. Then if you increase it by one pixel again you can only change one component, so do you change the first one again or the second. So now you need an algorithm to determine which component gets the extra space.
    I need content of the JPanel also to resize every 1 pixel (so it would be on the borders of the JPanel)...Don't know exactly what your layout is like, but maybe you could center the panel in the frame. That way as you change the size the "border" will change on both sides and it may not look as bad.
    You can try using a BoxLayout. Components will grow as the size is increased but I think you might have problems with the first components always growing first.

  • Problem with resizing the new Pages window

    I can't get my Pages Window any smaller, it says (if I use Window Tidy for example) that the window size was restricted.
    With the old Pages I used to have two Pages-windows open right next to each other, so I coul work on two documents at the same time. Now that i can't resize them anymore (only making them bigger is possible) they don't fit on the screen anymore.
    Anyone having the same problem, maybe even a solution?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Character set problem with transportable tablespace

    Hi,
    I'm trying to import a transportable tablespace with data pump into a database with a different character set compared to the source database. I know this is by default not possible. But there's no violating data in the tablespace that could make it a problem when transfering the TS. So I issued 'ALTER SYSTEM SET "_tts_allow_nchar_mismatch"=true;' on the target to force the import. However; I still get the eror:
    ORA-29345: can not plug a tablespace into a database using a different character set
    How can I fix this?

    Hi,
    What're the character sets of the source and target database?
    A general restriction of transportable tablespace is that the source and target databases must use the same database character set.

  • Problem with Temporary Tablespace in 8i

    Hello friends,
    I have the 8.1.7.4 version, with a 18GB Temporary Tablespace.
    An external process (from Datawarehouse tool) is making a query over a 10.000.000 records.
    It appeared the error:
    SQL error 1652 occurred when accessing table XXX
    It's supposed it occurs due to temporary tablespace is full
    DWH tool makes different "big" queries.. but.. are the enough to grow up to 18GB???
    Any idea?
    [It's not possible to change sort_area_size or any other parameter in init.ora]
    Apart form this: Which would be the best way to clean this temporary tablespace?
    Thanks

    Jose, I think you are right and the problem is that Oracle was unable to obtain additional temp tablespace extents for the query since you mention the problem occurred on a query.
    The question is was the lack of free temp due to the combination of tasks running at the time or is the plan for the query in question the issue?
    If you resubmit the query does the 01652 error re-occur. If it does then I suggest grabbing a copy of the contents of v$sort_usage and resubmitting the query. Monitor the sort usage every 30 seconds, minute, or several minutes depending on how long the query runs before returning the error. This will give you an idea of how much temp space the query wants and maybe why (see following).
    Also get the explain plan and see where temp is being used. One query may use multiple allocations of temp space at a time such as one chunk to support hash joins, one to support aggregation, and one to support order by so the total sort space necessary may be a lot more than you would think just based on the result set size.
    In the case where the query in question is using too much temp you have to ask if the plan is the issue or if you really need more temp. When the plan is not efficient then converting to using nested loops over hash joins might be one way to eliminate excess temp space usage.

  • Problems with resizing video

    I have a video which I would like to be able to play on my HTC Hero smartphone. The video size is 480 x 272 pixels. According to my friend, I have to resize it to fit in my smartphone device resolution, which is 3.2-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with 320x480 HVGA resolution. However, I installed QuickTime Pro 7. I tried to resize it under Inspector Movies Property and I get an error saying that the timecode is invalid or something like that. I also noticed the file size would be in kilobytes than in megabytes. I tried extracting the video and editing from there but that did not work.
    The problem is when I tried to play it on my smartphone, I cannot get the picture, I get a blank green coloured screen. The audio track work fine.

    If you have one of the "Studio" ($49 or more) level versions of Flip4Mac installed, I would recommend a WMV conversion since it is very standardized and specifically mentioned as being supported by your device. (Even if you only have the free player installed, you should be able to make up to a 30-second "demo" conversion for testing purposes.) Converting to Perian AVI could be iffy but your could try an MPEG4, H264, or H264 video with AAC, MP3, or WAV audio. (Official AVI support was dropped by originator a decade ago but Windows seem unwilling to "move on" to more modern file types.) The mere fact that WMV support is specifically mentioned leads me to think the multimedia player may be more "Windows" based than Mac based. Let us know how your test turns out as this may be an issue for other Mac users of this device.
    I only have the free player and I am not very keen on paying $49 or more for these softwares. It is far fetch for me. I will make an attempt to try to convert the video and see what happen.
    Erm...How do I do this? I had a look in System Preferences.

  • Problems with resizing a JFrame

    Hello people! I'm having a problem setting the size of a JFrame while it is visible. Just resizing it by hand with the mouse is no problems, everything works ok, but when I call the setSize(blabla) method, the contents of the window doesn't notice that it has more space to draw the components on. The result is that the extended area of the window is just plainly white... until I resize it by hand, then everything looks ok. Does anyone have a solution? repaint() doesn't help...
    /Erik

    hay svenmeier...
    I'm all confused with the pack() method... I don't like it :) It always sets the size 2 pixels too large in windows 9x/Nt/2k/xp. Of course that's adjustable, but I'm unsure whether it will be the same on all other platforms. It's just one problem that I have that I have never been able to solve. Asking people around here for a solution never helped, because it seems others do not have this particular problem.
    So, to me it seems that the most reliable way to set the size of a frame is to first set it visible, and then resize it with respect to the insets.

  • Problem with resizing canvas

    PSE 8, Windows XP
    Attempting to resize the canvas I entire a width and a lenght. I leave the position square in the middle. I click OK. The canvas extension appears only at the bottom of the photo, not all around as it does in PSE 3. I tried relative. Same result, just new canvas at the bottom. I checked Barbara Brundage's book and it should work the same as it does in PSE 3 but doesn't. I also went to PSE "Learn more about canvas size". It also shows that my canvas extensions should show all around. It also suggests that I should be able to choose a background color, but that option is grayed out for me.
    I know I can just do what I want to do using PSE 3 which I kept on my computer for emergencies just like this, but I would like to solve the problem.
    Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks. Eva

    Eva,
    Works fine in my PSE8 on Win XP. I see the following options (sorry, I only have a German version available):
    The image centers just fine. Are you sure you're seing the entire image (ctrl-0)? What's the image format you're working on (PSD, JPG, 8-Bit, 16-Bit)?

  • Problem with resizing on Photosmart Premier program on my 4240 series 400 Photosmart Printer

    I went to "create" on my HP Premier program and made a calendar with it.  I am trying to print out that calendar but it won't make it small enough to print off on an 8x10 format.  It comes up like 16x20 or so no matter what I do, ie, with white borders, scale to fit 8x10 paper, letter sized, scaled to fit onto letter size, etc, etc.  I am using the calendar form provided by the HP Premier so I would think I must just be doing something really wrong for it to not print out the correct size for me.  Can you tell me what I need to do to make the entire calendar print off on one sheet of paper?

    Hi Gannato.
    You may want to try the print-at-home calendar project in HP Photo Creations. It offers multiple output sizes, from 8½ x 11 to 13x19. HP Photo Creations is a free download for Mac and Windows at www.hp.com/go/hppc.
    You can start your calendars on any month. With the ship-to-home calendar project, you can customize the grid section as well by dragging images there. Place a picture of Grandma on her birthday, or a heart graphic on your anniversary day.
    Another fun feature: On the print-at-home calendar, try resizing the calendar grid by dragging the bottom right corner. The 12 squares line up in different layouts, such as 3x4, 4x3, 2x6, and 12x1.
    Hope this helps,

  • Problem with UNDO tablespace

    Hi guys.
    Our database has 50GB of undo tablespace. I decided to create a second undo tablespace and switch to the new one. Since doing that yesterday, the size of the old undo is 49GB (was thinking that the values will drop to zero) and the new tablespace keeps increasing in size! Its size now is about 20GB. I do have the following question.
    a) If I restart the database, it the value of the old undo going to fall to zero?
    b) undo_retention=86400. Setting this value to a lesser value say 800seconds, it is going to act the performance of the database? Is it going to release the space on the old undo?
    Thanks and any help is appreciated.
    David

    The undo tablespace will not automatically shrink size, since you have a new undo tablespace in place. You can drop the old one if you don't plan to use it.
    Set lower undo_retention will certainly help to contain the undo space usage. However you should query v$undostat and v$rollstat to estimate the amount of undo space required for the current workload then size the undo tablespace accordingly. Turn off the auto extend on undo tablespace.

  • 9i on Linux. Problems with Temp tablespace cleanup

    I am currently running Oracle 9i Enterprise on SUSE Linux 7.2.
    I am executing queries against the new XMLType datatype and every query adds to the Temp tablespace, which doesn't get cleaned up. Eventually, the tablespace will run out of space and Oracle will issue and error:
    ORA-01652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace <name>
    The only way to clean up the Temp tablespace seems to be by restarting the server.
    Is that happening on other platforms as well? I would appreciate any help.

    Hi
    You can connect to the database as DBA (Sys or System) and make a bigger temporal tablespace. Or create a new bigger temporary tablespace and assign it to the user.
    A10!
    PS: Temporary tablespace is used when no memory available for the session, for example when a big ORDER BY is done. Try to increase the memory assigned, just look at initXXX.ora (sort_size)

    Hi All,
    I have a problem with resizing the JFrame at runtime. Even if i resize the JPanel. It is not affection on all the components over the frame. How can i solve that I am using AbsoluteLayout(jre1.6) and here i am going to provide you code snippet. My requirement is to resizt the form. If form is small in size then all the component should also be according tothe size of the form.

    } else if(size < 50) {

    jPanel1.setLayout(new org.netbeans.lib.awtextra.AbsoluteLayout());
    jButton1.setText("jButton1");
    jPanel1.add(jButton1, new org.netbeans.lib.awtextra.AbsoluteConstraints(40, 40, 110, 40));
    getContentPane().add(jPanel1, new org.netbeans.lib.awtextra.AbsoluteConstraints(0, 0, x_co_or, y_co_or));
    pack();
    Can anybody suggest any idea/solution.
    Any idea/solution are most welcome.
    Regards,
    Pradeep Dubey

    How can i solve that I am using AbsoluteLayout(jre1.6)
    and here i am going to provide you code snippet.no need for the snippet, you're using absolute positioning, which means you're responsible for location and size on every single change.
    start coding now, take about a week, or you could use a layout manager, take maybe, 5 minutes

    I want to design a form with exactly like <b>journal voucher</b>
    so it has 2 matrix object (upper and below)
    here's my code
    Set oFormPOS = SBO_Application.Forms.Add("formPointOfSales", ft_Sizable, -11)
        '// set the form properties
        oFormPOS.Title = "Form Point of Sales"
        oFormPOS.Left = 300
        oFormPOS.Width = 520
        oFormPOS.Top = 100
        oFormPOS.Height = 500
        oFormPOS.AutoManaged = False
        Set oItem = oFormPOS.Items.Add("PMatrix1", it_MATRIX)

        Set oPOS.oColumns2 = oPOS.oMatrix2.Columns
    but when I resize down my form, <b>the matrix followed my resize and increasing the height automatically and stacking with another matrix</b>.
    even though I set AutoManaged = False, it still resize automatically , and make my form
    screw up
    Please anyone help me to solve this problem
    I want my form to exactly like journal voucher (doesn't has a problem with resize)
    Thanks

    Hi Rasmus Thanks for the answer
    and what do you mean by catch the form resize event ?
    about my code what is the use of Automanaged = false, I didn't feel any different
    I thought Automanaged = false will make my matrix not resize automatically,but it didn't
    if i can change my matrix not resize automatically, I think i will change my code to these code, and I hope will auto arrange the position of my matrix
    Set oItem = oFormPOS.Items.Add("PMatrix1", it_MATRIX)
        oItem.Left = 20
        oItem.Width = 485
        oItem.Top = oFormPos.Top + 10
        oItem.Height = (oFormPos.height/2) - 30
        Set oPOS.oMatrix = oItem.Specific
        Set oPOS.oColumns = oPOS.oMatrix.Columns
        Set oItem = oFormPOS.Items.Add("PMatrix2", it_MATRIX)
        oItem.Left = 20
        oItem.Width = 485
        oItem.Top = (oFormPos.Height/2) + 10
        oItem.Height = (oFormPos.Height/2) - 50
        Set oPOS.oMatrix2 = oItem.Specific
        Set oPOS.oColumns2 = oPOS.oMatrix2.Columns
    but I don't know how to disable the resize of the matrix automatically
    so Rasmus beside what is the form resize event, do you know the use of automanaged ?
    Thanks
