Problems with settings on desktop pics

I've been trying to set up my favorite pics to use as desktop slide show. No real problems except for one.
The desktop preferences keeps defaulting to 'stretch to fill screen'. Not a big deal, I'll just change it to 'fill screen'.
Seems the end result is the same on the desktop: strange looking pixelated photos from being stretched. So I go back to desktop and it has defaulted back to 'stretch to fill screen' and is no longer on 'fill screen'.
1) - are they the same setting essentially? Seems the fill screen keeps changing back to 'stretch to fill screen.' I was hoping the fill screen might just be a magnification only and not a 'stretching.'
2) - why is my computer defaulting back to 'stretch'? No matter how many times I put it on 'fill screen', it defaults back to the stretching mode.
I have noticed that I can put it on 'center' or 'tile' and it will retain that setting. I just don't prefer those settings.
Any ideas out there on why I can't seem to maintain the 'fill screen' option? Is there a 'preferences' for the preferences that maybe I need to trash to start over fresh?

Hi,
Try deleting these files:
com.apple.desktop.plist
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
They are located here: Home/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate those files and drag them to the Trash. Reboot. You will have to reset your preferences, but it's the best way to see if it is indeed a corrupted preference file causing this problem.
And you indicated you are running 10.4.6. That is not the most recent update. Go to the Apple logo top left in your Desktop then click: Software Updates. The most recent is 10.4.10.

    Hi, I have updated my desktop and laptop to Windows 8.1 over the past day, and have noticed a problem with the Creative Cloud Desktop app.
    Some menu items when I right-click on either the CC system tray icon, or click on the Settings menu icon in the app interface itself do not show.  I've included a screenshot of the problem.

  • Problem with Digital Cinema Desktop Preview on Macbook Pro

    I hava a Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz with 2 GB RAM. I would like to use a connected 24"-Display for preview of my HD-Material (ProRes and HDV). Unfortunately I am not getting my Macbook Pro to playback all frames. Whend Digital Cinema Desktop Preview is activated, there are only still frames displayed. No smooth playing back neither in the canvas window nor the 24" display. I have External Video -> All Frames checked.
    Does the Macbook Pro 2.2 not meet the specs for this feature?
    Or is it a problem with Leopard? Is anyone with Tiger able using Digital Cinema Desktop Preview with succes?

    So are you saying that the DVI output on my MacBook Pro IS true HD resolution and not a proxy like the canvas?
    What I am saying is that the video feed coming out of the DVI port is YUV. Computer monitors take that YUV information and convert it to RGB for displaying purposes. So if you connect an Apple monitor to the DVI port, and then use that for Digital Cinema Preview, you are seeing a converted proxie image. The MXO takes the actual YUV footage and outputs that to the Apple display as YUV, and therefore presents full quality broadcast colors. And it does it pixel for pixel...the 23" display is 1920x1200, so there are thin black lines on the top and bottom.
    AND the MXO software has a proc amp for adjusting color bars, and a BLUE ONLY option for proper monitor calibration. THis really is an amazing little box.
    I'm using a Dell ultrasharp 20" that looks very good that way; I just didn't think it was HD.
    It is, but it is a converted RGB image...and since it is 20", it isn't pixel for pixel (well, it would be for 720p, not 1080), and if it isn't pixel for pixel, then it is a converted image. Not suitable for color correction.
    then using a DVI to HDMI cable I should be seeing HD from my Sony bravia also?
    Yup...sure can. It will look pretty good too. But it being a consumer set, and again having a YUV>RGB converted image, it won't look as good as it could. The MXO would feed it a proper YUV signal, as would an Decklink HDP (but you need a decklink card with SDI out for that).

  • Ios6.0.1 = Problem with office network desktop computers

    Hi,
    We have a few iPhones connected onto our office computer network via a WIFI router.
    While those iPhones were running IOS 5, we had no issues.
    Now, since IOS 6 - and even IOS 6.0.1 is running on those iPhones, I have 2 iPhones causing network issues to DESKTOP COMPUTERS when connected to the office network through WIFI.
    Basically, when those iPhones are connected to our network via WIFI, always the same 2 desktop computers then have network connectivity issues.
    Those computers have the following IP address:
    Computer A: 192.168.1.92
    Computer B: 192.168.1.103
    When let's say iPhone A is connected to the WIFI router, then Computer A starts to have network issue - ping does not work anymore - or only randomly - user cannot printed - computer cannot connect to Windows Shares anymore.
    I have found about that by changing the IP address of the computer the problem was then solved.
    I have then check the IP address used by the iPhone A ... it is not the original one used by the Computer A ... It is a different IP address provided by our DHCP server ... so the problem is not there (?).
    I then ran an nmap request on 192.168.1.92 while Computer A had issue ...and found on that the MAC ADDRESS reported was not the one of Computer A - but the one of iPhone A !!!
    So, when iPhone A connects to the network via WIFI - it seems to confuse the switches despites not having the same IP address ...
    If I ask my collegue to switch the WIFI off on his iPhone, then the problem disappear straight away ... No more issue with the computer and its IP address 192.168.1.92 ... and nmap then reports the correct computer MAC ADDRESS.
    The same problem happens with Computer B and iPhone B ...
    We have RESET NETWORK settings on both iPhones but this did now solved the issue.
    Can someone help out ?

    I'd say the scope of your dhcp server is probably overlapping your fixed ip addresses on your desktops
    Could be due to the lease time the reason your not seeing the ip addresses on the devices you expect
    Could also be a rouge dhcp server somewhere

  • Problems with BBC iPlayer Desktop and Adobe Air for Mac

    I would be grateful for anyone who can help me with a problem I have on my Laptop running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3.I am having difficulty running BBC iPlayer Desktop and I suspect it is caused by Adobe Air.
    Recently I was prompted to update Adobe Air to the latest version (as of February 2012) and after I successfully updated the program, this began to cause problems when I used BBC iPlayer desktop.
    The first problem I noticed was that I was unable to play any downloaded programmes in full screen - only the sound played, not the video.
    Secondly, a few weeks after this problem began, all my TV programmes mysteriously disappeared.
    My final problem is that everytime I launch BBC iPlayer it is unable to download new programmes - when I am connected to the internet, the application still says it is "offline".
    I have tried to resolve the problem by restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling BBC iPlayer, disabling and re-enabling my firewall, connecting to the internet in different locations but this has not resolved the problem.
    I tried to uninstall Adobe Air, but the installation package tells me it is 'corrupt'. So I tried to download and reinstall the application from the adobe website, but the computer already recognises that the app is installed. i.e. - I can't uninstall or reinstall Adobe Air.
    I contacted BBC iPlayer support and they were unable to help - directing me to your website. I have read several other discussion topics posted on this website but not found the solution I am looking for.
    Please can some help me to solve this problem, by helping me uninstall and reinstall Adobe Air for Mac?
    I am not very technical minded - for example - I don't know what log files are or how to find them - so please explain it as simply as possible.

    Just had the same thing happen AGAIN. Suddenly - a blank iPlayer Desktop which failed to download new programmes. All previous programmes were still in the repository folder. This time the sequence I outlined previously didn't work.
    What eventually got things working this time was to reinstall Adobe Air as part of the BBC iPlayer Desktop installation process - and not separately.
    So:
    a) Move iPlayer to trash.
    b) Find and delete the following folder: Users/Yourname/Library/Preferences/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDBBD 723A6DA9D.1
    c) Find and delete the following folder:
    Users/Yourname/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/BBCiPlayerDesktop.61DB7A798358575D6A969CCD73DDB BD723A6DA9D.1
    d) Find and delete the following folder:
    Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository/cache
    e) Find and run: Applications/Utilities/Adobe AIR Uninstaller
    f) Empty the Trash. I found that bits and pieces of BBC iPlayer were still running despite having been quit and dumped in the trash - and so it wouldn't allow me to complete this part. Restarted the computer, then empty the trash.
    g) Find the folder: Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository and rename it repository2
    h) Reinstall iPlayer. It will tell you that you have no programmes to view. Quit the programme.
    i) Find and delete the folder: Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository
    j) Find the folder: Users/Yourname/Movies/BBC iPlayer/repository2 and rename it to repository.
    k) Relaunch iPlayer
    It would be terribly nice if the BBC or Adobe stopped buggering about with this . . .

  • Palm TX HotSync Problems with Windows Vista (DeskTop V6.2.2 HotSync Manager V7.0.2)

    I have recently had to re-install DeskTop on my Windows Vista PC and at the same time updated to V6.2.2. but the HotSync manager gets to "Synchronising Date Book" and just hangs up until I close things with Task Manager. I've tried re-booting my PC reloading the software and soft resetting my TX but so far I haven't found a solution. Can anyone help please?

    When a sync hangs on a component of Palm Destop, it usually means the data is corrupted in that component. The calendar is the culprit most of the time.
    Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.

    To install the program, set all conduits to "do nothing" except quick install or install if using Palm desktop 6.2.
    After you install the program on the handheld, run the scan and also scan for Blobs in the calendar.
    After you clean-up the database on the handheld, set the conduits in hotsync to handheld overwrites desktop and perform a hotsync.

  • Problem with Creative Cloud Desktop App in Mavericks

    I have posted a couple of times about this but no one seems to be answering. There seems to be a bug with the Creative Cloud Desktop app and Mac OS Mavericks.
    I have the newest version of them installed on a brand new MacBook Pro and I have had problems ever since with the connection to the Creative Cloud when I wake the MacBook Pro from sleep. Often I will have a red exclamation point on the icon in the menu bar because it can't connect to see if there are updates to the apps. Or the Behance tab will show that the last time my Behance feed was updated was a long time ago.
    If I quit the Creative Cloud application it will connect with no problems and update the Behance feed and any apps that need updating. But once I put the MacBook Pro to sleep and wake it again I have the connectivity issue.
    This is becoming a huge pain to have to quit the Creative Cloud all of the time. Would someone please offer up a suggestion. Is this a known bug that Adobe is working on? If not, how do we let them know about it?

  • HAving problem with this HP Desktop no video

    Now when I first got this computer it would not turn on. I procedded to take memory out and put back in and then I got video.
    Everything went smooth until I upgraded the memory. Purchase an extra one gigabyte and when I first plugged it in no video.

    that i figuredout why there was no video. Once i placed the memory chips in the right slots it started up with no problems.
    Now this computer was for a friend who was elderly, did not have that much money, and did not understand computers too much. Whenthis computer is on it runs great and he loves it.
    Now here is the problem, he would go to turn it on via the power button, and it would not send video to the monitor, he would then hold the power button for about 5 seconds to shut it down, the try again. It would take him about five tries to get it to come on.
    I figured it might be the memory, so i went to his house and took out the memory. Seemed to work ok. Now he is having those problems again, where sometimes when he goes to turn it on, it just does not send any power to the monitor.
    Now what I told him to do was, to turn the computer on in the morning and leave it on. Just let the monitor go to sleep. When he is done with the computer in the vening, just turn it off. Now this is working for him, but this should not be happening.
    His symptoms are that SOMETIMES when he turns the computer on there is no video signal sent to the monitor.
    Please does anyone have a solution, or tell me what to check. I have already put another brand new power supply in which did not fix the problem. Also removed the extra memory that was purchased seperately. Still same issues.

    How many GB of ram, and how many slots did the computer come with and were the ram chips the same brand? Say you have 2 ram chips, one has 1 gb and the other has 2gb. Most of the time you wont have a problem but putting equal amounts of ram in each slot is the best thing to do, otherwise your computer could start acting funny. Also never mix different brands of ram chips together. . What I would do is put one chip in the computer and see how it runs. If you still have a problem then swap it out with another. If you still have a problem after only putting one chip in than the ram is not the problem. Coould be a faulty video card and it could be going out on you. Could be a number of things really, but its a process of elimination. Try hooking it up to a different monitor. Let me know.

  • Problem With Newly Downloaded Desktop Manager Multi-Language v.4.6.0 With Media Manager

    I just updated my desktop manager software this afternoon with the newer version that's in my subject line. The backup/restore feature works fine, but when I try to open the media manager, it opens, says no device is connected (when it is), and then gives me a pop-up message saying that an error has occurred (doesn't say what error specifically), and that the program needs to be restarted. I have tried it numerous times, and it always gives the same error message. Any ideas?
    FYI, I have a Blackberry Pearl 8130, and am on the Verizon network.

  • Problem with window on desktop

    Has installed Open office, when starting show window with tekst "The last time you opened OpenOffice, it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try reopen its windows again ?" and 2 buttons: Don*t open and Reopen. When I try to put one of them - no reaction. Window just on, I can move only on  desktop. To close it I use Force quit.
    Here is a text in log file:

    I maked uninstall and install again but same thing anyway.
    How to remowe window ? Some times ago it works perfectly

    delete the file "org.openoffice.script.savedState". It is located this folder:

    in Terminal insert next script: defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles 0 && killall Finder
    it's hide files back

  • Image 10.7.3. Problems with settings when new image is used on another mac

    10.7.3 image.I create an image of 10.7.3 using disk utility with the "Require an admin password to access system preferences" checked under Security and Privacy, once i move the image to another mac it reverts and unchecks the setting "Require an admin password to access system preferences. There is no problems creating the image or loading the image on new mac. There is something that is reverting the setting from original image on new mac. I am not using a 3rd party software to create an image. As what i understand the image should exactly the same. Not sure what is causing these problems since it only happens when using 10.7.3 and did not happend on 10.7.2. Any feedback will be appreciated. thanks

    hello, forst of all sorry my bad english... i have a problem... i unistalled adobe master collection and now i have cc. i tried to download some programs (photoshop, dreamweaver and lightroom) but when i open creative cloud desktop, there is nothing: only white page.... no login, no programs

    On your regular account naviagte to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db and trash it. Launch CC desktop, sign in and let us know if the issue still persists.

  • Problems with CC DPS desktop tools

    When I download CC DPS Desktop tools and I try to install it, the system tells me to update first Indesign CC with the update in indesign CC help menu, but the update voice is not selectable. How can I do?

    I too am lost trying to install the DPS tools for InDesign CC (Windows).  I have seen a downloadable patch that I can't apply, I have seen advice to run the update from the help menu, but there are no updates available, and I have tried downloadable installers that don't seem to do anything.  I still don't have the DPS tools in my extensions!

  • Problem with settings changes

    Hi,
    I have opened my computer yesterday and everything I had on my desktop had dissapeared (desktop background, files, sticky notes & so on). However, if I go on my computer -> Users -> my name -> Desktop, the files are there (minus the sticky notes on which I had some important info!). There are also some changes in fonts and language used on my browser. 
    I thought maybe it was something related to changing the user on my laptop, but there is only one user, namely me and the guest one which is not enabled. 
    Does anyone have any idea what this could be about and how I could restore it back?

    First let's try to get your stick note backed up
    They save the notes in a file called StickyNotes.snt, located in the C:\Users\login\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes folder. (When I write login, I mean the name you use to log into Windows.) You can easily get to C:\Users\login\AppData\Roaming by selecting Start, typing %appdata%, and pressing ENTER
    See if you can copy this file and keep it safe
