Problems with the Galaxy Nexus

I upgraded to the Galaxy Nexus – your flagship device.  It now has a whole laundry list of known, critical issues.  You’re holding the Android software update that will fix these known problems but you won’t release it.  After 5 months, still no fix.  Even while the Sprint Galaxy Nexus has Android 4.0.4, we're stuck on the the buggy 4.0.2. 
Now that you have me locked in a contract the only thing you’ll do is replace my phone with the same model that’s refurbished – not even a new phone of the same model.  And it would come with the same software version.  You won’t even replace my phone with a different model that works as expected.  I’m just one of many, many people in this situation. Let’s see where JD Power and Associates ranks your customer service next time, Verizon Wireless.  Shame on you!  Even your own forums are filled with complaints from Nexus owners and still VZW remains silent.  This is **** poor customer service and it has definitely been noted by me and many others.

Now that 4.0.4 is slowly being released, I'm yet to hear anyone say that the intermittent muting problem, the random resets, or any of the other problems have actually been fixed.  I found an app that helped with the 3G dropping problem, but that was on the last phone, and I don't remember the name.  I'm sure it is in the My Apps section somewhere.  Not going to bother since I'm going to ask for another replacement phone soon.
I was told by a rep that I had to receive three phones before Verizon would give me a different model.  I'm on number 3, but their records only show 2 replacement phones.  I guess the one I got 3 days from original purchase didn't count 'cause I got it from the store and not through customer service. 
Anyway I'd like to see a list of the bugs/problems that 4.0.4 actually fixes.  What I've seen is a list of new problems.
My biggest frustration is that verizon doesn't/won't even admit they have a problem.  If they would just give the reps a line or two about the problems and send us to tier 2 or 3, it would be different, but tier 1 wants to try everything on their list of fixes before they will let us talk to a tech that at least knows there is a problem, however won't say so directly.  I'm fed up with Verizon and it's time to do something.  I'm looking at the other 4GLTE verizon phones and they seem to have problems too.  I'm not an apple fan so there really isn't anything that Verizon has that I want to downgrade to, except maybe a phone that I don't use and just pay the base for the remainder of the contract. 
I hate liars and by withholding the truth, it makes Verizon Wireless reps look like liars.

    Whether or not it's a software or hardware problem something needs to be done. I've been a 5 different forums now and everything I read about the 4G on this phone is negative, except for a few lucky ones. People are only getting 1-2 bars compared to other phones right next to them. They are also saying they are getting heavy decrease in 4G speeds. This is my first 4G phone but I think I would get better speeds than 4mbps download and 3mbps upload? I'm in Pittsburgh, a good 4G area. I've been a customer with VZW for a long time, plenty of upgrades and new 2 year contracts. I just dropped a lot of money on this phone and agreed to stay with VZW for another 2 years, I at least want a phone that is fully capable of getting the full 4G experience. If there is a problem with the Nexus as a device in general please let us know see I can get a different phone, if there is something wrong with the 4G let me know too so I can quit panicking!
    Sorry for rambling on but what is truly going on with this phone and the 3G/4G speeds, dropped calls and so on? I'm really getting aggravated and truly feel like I'm unappreciated as a customer.

    It seems more location based than actually the device.  I have various screenshots where I could go hours without even a dropped signal, but randomly for an short period of time I would lose signal due to the network(based on various devices owned with Verizon).  Though when I travel to say SF for work I may see it happen 2-3 times a day.  When I was with AT&T many years back when they were rolling out their 3G network I had similar problems with dropped calls, and data.  Since Verizon is deploying it quickly I doubt they did serious bug checking and figure to do it on the fly as they want to cover everywhere that has 3G with 4G.  At some point I believe Verizon want to go VOLTE+(Voice over LTE Advanced) which in turn may help with data prices and network congestions and hopefully they can get it as reliable as possible.

    It was a Verizon customer service person who told me that this is a common problem with Samsung Nexus model phones. From what you are saying that is not the case. As you suggested the store did change the sim card
    at no cost to me. Unfortunately it did not resolve the problem.  The Brookfield Connecticut Verizon store could
    not resolve the problem and said "it was a phone problem not a service problem." The local store and the Verizon national customer service would not exchange the phone or cancel the service without an early termination penalty.
    The phone was sold to me by Verizon at a discounted price. I signed a 2 year service contract because of that promotional. I think Verizon and Samsung have a shared responsibility for the operation of the phone. Verizon customer service implied that there responsibility was limited to the service only. I say not so when you use it as a promotional tool to sell your service. I contacted Samsung tech service and they have accepted the reasonability of fixing the problem. Verizon needs to fix there problem with customer service and get all there people on the same page.

    When you receive an e-mail in the Vz account sometimes the text is missing. Support and technical suggest that I forward the e-mail to a Gmail account where I can see the whole document. They are aware of the problem and suggest to wait to October where they expect an update. They should never had release the instrument since Samsung tells me that the problem is with the Vz  synchronization. I will like to know if other people have the same problem or I have a defective unit. After all the calls and getting different answers I don't trust Vz anymore..

  • Why do I need to choose a new data plan for the Galaxy Nexus?

    So I've been waiting to upgrade my OG Droid to the Galaxy Nexus.
    I have the "unlimited data" plan (grandfathered in). My phone is eligible for an upgrade, but when I add it to my cart, it tells me that I need to choose a new data plan because my current one isn't eligible.
    I thought once you have the unlimited data, you keep it until you cancel the line or switch to a non-smartphone?
    Is this an error on line or if I go to the store will the tell me the same thing?

    How are you getting it for $250 on line?  Do you have a discount or NE2 credit?  Sounds like you didn't go to a coorporate store and went to a Franchise/3rd party store.  They can't see employee discounts or NE2 credits.
    It will be around $320 with tax and fees, and your data plan WILL stay the same in store.  Since they said you have to call CSR it further makes me believe you went to a franchise or 3rd party retailer.

    We have a problem with the display resolution on our Google Nexus 7 (2013) and our Multi-Folio-App. If we watch an article inside our published Multi-Folio-App, the article does not use the full screen of the tablet. But when I look the article inside the content viewer, it use the full screen of the tablet. For your information: We use the resolution of 1280 x 800 and the tablet has the highest resolution of 1920 x 1200.
    However, under iOS it works without problems. We use the iPad 4 (2048 x 1536) with the article resolution of 1024 x 720. Do you have any idea what we can do? Under this post, you can find two screenshots which discribe the problem.

  • Why am I having intermittant problems with my Galaxy Note 4 touch screen?

    I've had my new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 for two days now and have noticed intermittant problems with the touch screen.  I've even added more touch screen sensitivity in the settings area and it has NOT helped at all.  Sometimes I can tap on the screen repeatedly and find the phone not respond, then all of a sudden it responds.  As I keep using the touch screen...suddenly it stops responding again.  It's extremely frustrating especially when it's a brand new phone.  I have now found several other reports of this on the internet, but have not found a fix.  Suggestions (besides reset to factory settings and install each app one by one and test the phone)?  Since it's an intermittant problem, it's hard to tell if any particular app is the sole contributing factor to this.  Based on my experience and that of others...this appears to be a fairly common "bug" that we consumers are experiencing.  Help!?

    You haven't enabled VoLTE (Advanced calling) have you?  Not that it makes a difference just curious. 
    Have you upgraded to Lollipop yet?

  • I just order 8 calendars from iPhoto and they came to me fine. Now I need to order two more but when I go thru the process I get a message  saying:unable to assemble calendar. There is a probleme with the photo with the file name"(Null)"   more........ .

    I ordered 8 same calendars for my soccer team and received them fine. Although a couple of pictures on it are a little off (out of focus). I need to order two more of the same calendars but when I go thru the process ireceive an error message saying:
    "Unable to to assemble  calendar" There is a problem with the photo with the file name "(Null)" The full resolution version of this photo either cannot be located or is corrupt. Please replace this photo or delete it from your calendar.
    How can  I fine this "corrupt" photo? How did it go thru with the first batch of calendars but won't go thru now?

    Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start
    with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.

    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
    4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Is anyone having a problem with the new iPad (Gen. 3) not staying connected to the charger? It seems to ALWAYS get jiggled loose and no longer be charging. My iPad 1 has no issue but I can't browse Internet w/o new iPad unplugging. Horrible!

    I notice that my new IPad (3rd generation) will not stay connected to the power cord at all, I'm not exagerating, if I plug it in and browse the Internet without fail it will become unplugged and I will have to push the plug back in (Ba-beep). Ive actually grown to despise that sound when you plug your iPhone or iPad in because it reminds me of how much money I spent on something that PHYSICALLY will not charge while I'm using it.
    I know the problem with it holding a charge while in use, I get it, the screen is amazing and it takes a lot to run the display, however, it is unacceptable to me that I can't even keep the thing plugged in while I'm using it. I can not even leave it on my Cal King bed overnight because I will wake up in the morning to find that the plug has been jiggled loose in a corner, so it's still attached but not making a connection thus not being charged. 
    I love the 4GLTE from Verizon and I love the iPad, but I'm actually using my 1st generation IPad while I am at home so I can leave my new $900 iPad on a table to charge free of incident so I can use the 4G while I'm away from wifi during the day. I have been getting more upset about this because I can not even use the Griffin extended cord to charge the iPad and be far from the plug because only the original apple sync/charge cord will have a better shot at staying in. Absolutely none of my non apple cables will stay in the iPad 3 while having it in my hands.
    The plug is at an angle, unlike the first iPad, not sure about the iPad 2. Please let me know if they have same issue.
    If anyone else is having this problem with the Gen 3 iPad please let me know because I'm tempted to do something about it with apple and I'm hoping that I just for some reason have a bad cable receiver or something and maybe I can get a replacement and enjoy the iPad as I had expected to. There is no reason why I should be even using my first iPad and I have friends that want to buy it but I am not selling it because I'm unable to sell it because I can't handle the new iPad while it's plugged in, that is ridiculous if it's a common issue so please let me know!

  • Having Problems With The Neo2 ? Read This!!!!

    i just bought a neo2 motherboard, with a p4 2,6 HT and 512 mb Kingston hyper ram ( 2 peaces of 256, else it won't use the dual bandwith :D)
    In the beginning everything seemed fine, until i got some sudden reboots and other vague stuff. I read it could be the SB audigy messing things up. I removed the card and windows Xp pro runs fine now. no more sudden reboots or explorer not resonding crashes.
    But, i still had problems with games crashing. I got reboots. After i set the "automatic reboot after crash" to false, i got blue screens or lock-ups in my games.
    I wondered what it could be. Then i started to put my videocard ( a radeon 9700 pro 128 mb) in agp 4x mode instead of agp 8x! Now my games run without crashes, but benchmarks are not that high. 4780 marks with 3dmark 2003.
    I think i will send msi and Ati a mail concerning this problem. I don't know if it is PSU related. Maybe the videocard demands a little more power in agp 8x mode.

    remove the sb Audigy and turn the agp back to 4 using smartgart ( it's located in you're display settings screen ).
    First i tought it was a PSU related problem, because i swapped my 350 Watt enermax with a Q-tec 400 watt psu. The 400 watt PSU died while i was gaming. Maybe the enermax is the better PSU :D So, it could still be a PSU related problem. Maybe the agp 8x settings demands a lot more from you're psu. Anyway, i'll receive a 550 watt Antec PSU soon, so i can check this out....
    Btw. I cant run the motherboard in anything better than "slow" mode. In all other modes Xp won't boot. I haven't tryed it since the AGP is at 4X, but i don't think it will matter.

    i raised the memory voltage setting in the bios from 2.65 to 2.8 and the agp voltage from 1.5 to 1.7
    Everything seems fine, but games crash back to the desktop now without an error message or the either lockup.
    Whatever i do, i can't make the mobo crash in anything but games!
    Btw. the following message caught my attention, when i ran f1 2002 with directx 8.1. Since i have directx 9, i haven't seen it anymore. Maybe because the ati-drivers are made for directx 9....

    This is a major problem with Lollipop, but yo said it started 2 months ago.   Several people have fixed problem by removing FaceBook And Face book messenger and then re loading the apps again.   You might want to clear your cache before reloading.  Not sure this is your problem, but worth a try.  Good Luck
