I have this project where I have a number of reports as input to my application. Each report is about a patient, which contains information like patient's Date of birth, name, test date, bp, cholesterol, etc... and also at the end of the report it has doctor's name.
Now, I have to retrieve the patient's details and also the testdate, doctor's name etc.
Good thing about this is most of the each piece of key(piece of data for which we have to get the associated value) is preceeded by its name, like DOB: 12/12/12 and say T: 12/12/02 (test date), similarly BP 120/66.
But problem is that sometimes in the report we can have sentences taht use BP twice,
for e.g "Mr.X's BP was 120/66 but now he has improved and showing a BP of 120/77."
I need some help. Basically, this is bit different problem because of the above problem, otherwise i think its routine application.
Any suggestions on how to approach or any information will be greatly appreciated.Do you know any sites or info, where I can find some
help to build a grammar recognition tool? or some
information in that direction is also ok.Hmm. I don't envy you :) Grammar recognition might sound simple on the surface, but when you begin to think about all those exceptions to the rule, and the possibility that grammar isn't always correctly followed, writing a foolproof grammar tool sounds like quite the nightmare.
The best suggestion I can make is to get a hold of a grammar textbook, and just focus on distinguishing between tenses. I also think, in terms of tenses, it's safe to assume that grammar is always correct. If in doubt, you can handle it accordingly (such as print both stats as current and put a question mark beside them.)
Finally, a Google search never hurts. Try searching for "grammar recognition" or something similar. -
How to upload a text file to a webpage and process it using a Java app?
Apologies if the question is off topic.
I would like a user to upload a text file to a webpage and have a pre-existing Java application I created process the text file and return the results to the user. The Java application is fairly memory intensive. It is expected that multiple clients will be uploading at the same time. What is the simplest or most efficient method to achieve this?

As done in this example, processing the uploaded file in the JSP itself may not be a good idea though. You're better off handling it in your controller servlet or action class. -
Automator - Loop through a text file and process data through a 3rd party software
Just stumbled on Automator the other day (I am a mac n00b) and would like to automate the processing of a text file, line-by-line, using a third party tool. I would like Automator to loop through the text file one line at a time, copy the string and keep as a variable. Next, place the variable data (copied string) into the text field of the 3rd party software for processing. Once the processing is complete, I would like Automator to fetch the next line/string for processing. I see items like "copy from clipboard" and "variables" within the menu but I am not finding much documentation on how to utilizle this tool. Just hear how potentially powerful it is.
The 3rd party software is not a brand name, just something made for me to process text. I may have to use mouse clicks or tabs + [return] to navigate with Automator. A term I heard on Bn Walldie's itunes video series was "scriptable software" for which I don't think this 3rd party app would be.

The good news is that it should be entirely possible to automate your workflow.
The bad news is that it will be a nightmare to implement via Automator, if it's even possible.
Automator is, essentially a pretty interface on top of AppleScript/Apple Events, and with the pretty interface comes a certain stranglehold on features. Knowing how to boil rice might make you a cook, but understanding flavor profiles and ingredient combinations can make you a chef, and it's the same with AppleScript and Automator. Automator's good at getting you from points A to B but if there are any bumps in the road (e.g. the application you're using isn't scriptable) then it falls apart.
What I'm getting at is that your requirements are pretty simple to implement in AppleScript because you can get 'under the hood' and do exactly what you want, as opposed to Automator's restricted interface.
The tricky part is that if no one else can see this app it's going to be hard to tell you what to do.
I can give you the basics on reading a file and iterating through the lines of text in it, and I can show you how to 'type' text in any given application, but it may be up to you to put the pieces together.
Here's one way of reading a file and working through each line of text:
-- ask the user for a file:

-- read the file contents:
set theFileContents to (read file theFile)
-- break out the lines/paragraphs of text:
set theLines to paragraphs of theFileContents
-- now iterate through those lines, one by one:

Once you have a line of text (eachLine in the above example) you can 'type' that into another application via something like:

Here the AppleScript is activating the application and using System Events to emulate typing the contents of the eachLine variable into the process. Put this inside your repeat loop and you're almost there. -
How to check a text file is already opened by another process
Hi All,
We are facing a requirement to check a simple text file that has been already opened by some other process using java programming.We are using simple file reading concepts to read the content of those text file
For eg: Let us take sample.txt in any of the system location which is manually opened and we need to check that sample.txt is opened or not using java programming.
If it is not opened by any process then only we should read that file otherwise we shouldn't.
ANY GUIDANCE WILL BE HELPFUL...

Thanks. Our scenario is...
1. We have log files(in.txt) which is scheduled everyday for tracking and the scheduler will be writing the file ,it will be closed by night 11.
2.So in case if we write any java code to access that log file(using io file concept in java) we need access to that log file from our standalone java program only after night 11 0 clock.
3.So we should check a condition whether that log file has been already used by some other process.

I am designing an address book which opens a text file called AddressBook.txt which reads in the information in the following format:
lastname,firstname,street,city,state,zip,phonenumber,birthday,persontype
lastname2,firstname2,street2,city2,state2,zip2,phonenumber2,birthday2,persontype2
etc. (with a maximum entries of 500)
I am having a problem reading in the information without the commas and wrapping to the next line. I can either use the BufferedReader or Scanner to input the file and as you can see below, my code is not complete yet. I can't figure out how to code the storeAddress() method in order to get the addressBookEntries[] to include the necessary information for outputting, sorting, etc. If I can get the information read into the addressBookEntries[], I think I will probably be able to proceed in the rest of the required tasks (i.e. sorting by last name, searching by last name, etc.)

Attaching text file using SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1
hello guys, i'm a newbie here.
I'm having trouble attaching an existing text file using function 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'. It seems i can't find the right combination of parameters that are being passed to this function.
first, i'm using WS_UPLOAD to upload the text file to an internal table then i'm creating all the neccessary internal tables that will be use by this function..
By the way, i'm trying to send mail w/ attachments to external mail and SAPids. Below is my code.

I am trying to take data from a text file and put that data into an arraylist. First here is the text file:

Export to Text file does not page
Since I applied SP 7 for Crystal 9, when I export a report to a text file it does not page and print the report header on each page. It prints the report header once and one lone continuous page of information. My report was export to text with a page header on each page before I applied the service pack. How do I get it to page in the text export and print the page header on each page?
In 8.5 the default behavior of the export to text was to not paginate. With 9 you have a paginate option when you manually export data to text, however when processing in batch

Add/Remove Programs - export to text file?
Hello,
I am wondering if it is possible to export a list of everything in add/remove programs to a text file for inventory purposes.
I have not found any easy method to do this short of copying reg files or installer 3rd party software. Since the idea is to save time neither of those are viable solutions.
Does anyone have any ideas?

How to export to text file without ruin the format
Hi guys,
I need some help here. My company recently come with the decision to print the mainframe report file that usually come as a text file, to a virtual printer. This virtual printer is printing the report as Adobe PDF format. The problem is, my Line of Business have a macros on Excell file that will grab the information from the text file to be processed in the Excell format. I tried to use Adobe Professional 8 to re-convert the PDF file to be text file, but the result is, most of the blank space is gone, and it is align to left, thus make it unusable to the Excell file.
Unfortunately, I can't provide you the sample of the document, because it contain classified customer info.
But appreciate if you can give me some advice.

Tagged output PDFs, with a well-formed structure, provide (amoung other things) the ability to Save As/Export
content to some other applications with all or most of the layout/format intact.
I suspect that the output PDFs you have are untagged.
As there is, currently, a rather limited number of applications that support adequate tag management
(FrameMaker, InDesign, MS Word (via Adobe's PDFMaker & to a much lesser extent with Office Save As to PDF - XPS)
I suspect the mechanism used to provide your PDFs won't cut it with regards to providing a tagged output PDF having a
well-fomed structure (which would include dictionaries containing format/layout data).
As alluded to by Bernd, there may be third party plug-ins that might help.
The more reliable/functional ones tend to not be inexpensive.
