Process Chains Events

Hi Friends,
I want to create a process chain.If i need to create an Event based ( in the start process ) where am i going to create the event.
How to decide when we have to go for event based start process.
Can you please send me the process in creating the events and when we need to go for them.
One more thing is , after designing the process chain to schdule it should i active and execute it ( For Date scheduling jobs or event based ) .When i check SM37 i am finding them as released status evnthough the job is scheduled to run tomorrows date.

Hi Sundaresan,
To create a process chain that is triggered by an event do the following:
1) Create the event itself in transaction SM62. Click the maintain User Events radio button and then click the green circle button at the top left (ENTER button). Then, click the new event button (paper like button). You can then put any name and description (e.g. Z_MY_EVENT - My test event).
2) In the process chain setup (transaction RSPC), create a start process and specify that is should be triggered by your event (i.e. Z_MY_EVENT).
Regarding your concern on "When i check SM37 i am finding them as released status evnthough the job is scheduled to run tomorrows date", i think you have the correct status here. Your process chain has just been released. It is not running yet (i.e. status = ACTIVE). It will go to ACTIVE status on the next day (since you mentioned you scheduled it to run on tomorrows date).

Scheduling Process Chains (events)

Hi
I have created a process chain which i intend to activate through a event. This is what i have done.
1) Created an event in Transaction SM62
2) In the process chain i have set the start process to start when the event occurs.
3) I trigger the event using SM64
4) Nothing happens!!!
I i schedule the process chain to start immidiatly and run it directly it works perfectly.
Do i miss setting something up or has everyone a solution?

E-mail delay using "Event Data Change" in process chain

Hi Experts.
I can´t figure out why my process chain is taking so long to deliver a simple e-mail.
The BEx Broadcast Configuration is working fine. When I run it manually, the e-mail comes instantly. But when I use process chain (Event Data Change), it takes hours to receive the e-mail. The option to run after the infoprovider data change is set for this configuration.
Is there any additional configuration I have to check?

I was already checking the SOST and also SCOT and RSBATCH to see if the jobs are running fine, and no problems so far.

Broadcasting through process chains

How to broadcast reports to indivdual mailboxs in the company through process chains. say current data should be broadcasted into individual email account every time a new sales order or purchase order is created or by the end of the day , it should automatically trigger the mail with the report. can anyone help on this.

The goal of information broadcasting is to distribute the right information, in the appropriate format, to the right people, through different channels, at the right time.
With the BEx Broadcaster, you can precalculate queries, query views, Web templates, reports and workbooks and broadcast them by e-mail or to the portal. In addition to the precalculated documents in various formats (HTML, MHTML, ZIP and so on) that contain historical data, you can also generate online links.
Accessing the Broadcaster
The broadcaster can also be accessed via the Portal through the delivered BI Role.
You can determine the Scheduling for Information Broadcaster
Based on a data change event triggered by a process chain.
Based on a pre-defined time point.
Freely definable scheduling.
Steps to Schedule Information Broadcaster based on a data change event triggered by a process chain
Create the Query in the Query Designer.
Execute the report in the BEx Web Analyzer.
Click on u201CSendu201D to create the settings for broadcasting.
The Broadcast Wizard takes you through a series of prompts where you supply the key information required to develop a broadcast. At any time you can leave the Wizard and use the standard settings dialogs which offer more settings.
Then schedule the broadcast. If you start the Broadcaster for a query (or template or workbook) that gets data from an InfoProvider that will be selected in the process chain, you can select the InfoProvider for Scheduling.
Create the process chain and include the event data change, include process type "Trigger Event Data Change (for Broadcaster), itu2019s available under "Load Process and Post -Processing".
The Process Chain is created including the process types: (1) Start (2) Execute InfoPackage (3) Delta Data Transfer Process (4) Activate DSO (5) Trigger Event data Change.
When you create the Variant for the Event Data Change, using checkbox we can indicate when the Broadcast should trigger.
As soon as that InfoProvider is affected by a Process Chain, the Broadcasting is triggered.
After successful activation you can now schedule your chain. Press button u201CScheduleu201D or menu u201CExecution -> scheduleu201D. The chain will be scheduled as background job. You can see it in SM37. You will find a job named u201CBI_PROCESS_TRIGGERu201D. Unfortunately every process chain is scheduled with a job with this name. In the job variant you will find which process chain will be executed. During execution the steps defined in RSPCPROCESSCHAIN will be executed one after each other. The execution of the next event is triggered by events defined in the table. You can watch SM37 for new executed jobs starting with u201CBI_u201D or look at the protocol view of the chain.
You can monitor the Broadcaster from the SOST transaction.
Note:
Depending on authorizations, end-users can schedule their Broadcasting Settings.
Only for those queries which are checked "Execution with Data Change in the Infoprovider" while you schedule, will be triggered by process chain event.

Event is not getting triggered in the process chain

Hi,
We had a process chain which was triggered by an Event, and it was running fine until few days ago. So I removed the chain from schedule and re-scheduled it again with these details:
File load: every 2 hrs
Process chain setting
Immediate tab: start immediately
After event: "event name" and "parameter name" and periodic job: ticked
I activated the chain and scheduled it. But the event is not triggered and the chain does not start. I even tried to trigger the process chain manually in sm64 but the process chain did not start.
Can someone please tell me steps to automate the event triggering and also any setting that should be taken care off in the info package and the process chain.

Hello Ram, to start your Process Chain by an event, then you need to maintain the Start process of the process chain.
Select "Direct Scheduling".
In the Change Selections, press After Event. Put your event name and parameter (if any). Also click on Periodic job.
Press Save. Then Activate and Schedule your process chain. All your processes should turn green.
To verify, right-click on the Start process and select Displaying Scheduled Job(s).... You should see a job called BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER in a Released status. You can click on the job and look at the start conditions.
When you go to trigger the event, use the same event name and parameter (if any) as in the start condition. Your process chain will then execute. To insure, use RSPC to view your process chain and press the Logs icon (last one at the top).

Process chain Error: This AND process is not waiting for event RSPROCESS

Hi All,
I am facing an error in the process chain in PRD.
Error message: This AND process is not waiting for event RSPROCESS.
We had a process chain which had two sub chains which run parallel and below of this we had AND process type and below of the AND process we had 4 more jobs.
Once the two subchains got successfully loaded, the and process should turn to green and further 4 jobs should start.
It is a daily load , it worked fine from past years,but suddenly the AND processtype is getting failed.The thing is in the two subchains if one got completed, the AND process process is not waiting for 2nd subchain to get completed.The AND process is turning to RED (status: cancelled) . I tried to repeat the AND process once after above 2 subchains loaded, but it didnt worked.
And i removed the existing AND process and created a new one and placed it in same place and activated and schedules again.but still it is getting failed with same error.

If you did any transports related to that metachain we face similar kind of issues.
not only the AND process , we need to remove all the process before executing the AND process and create it again.
It helps you, you said your in production So you should take the proper approvals and do it.

I would like to know about event based process chains. In connection to this, could you please answer the following queries,
1. How to create events
2. How to link created event to the process chain in the same BI or BW system and as well as from
    externel BI system.
3. How link one process chain with other process chain (i.e, After completion of one process chain, it
    should trigger other dependent process chain)

1). Doubt regarding first question.
For example, i would like to create time based event (it should be trigger daily at specified time),
where we have to maintain scheduling options while creating event.
When i checked SM62 there i found only two options a). Event name and b). Description.
Could please send any doucument link if you have.
Ans : You can use function modules like "BP_EVENT_RAISE" in a program and schedule the program to trigger.
2). For externel BIW system also same procedure we need to follow or any difference.
Ans : Externally you need to trigger the same event.
3). i found dependent process chain also had scheduling options as direct scheduling insted of start using meta chain or API. As you said dependent process chain should be mata chain. it seems dependent process chain may be Meta chain or Direct scheduilg.
Ans : Its your choice how you want to schedule it.You can either make that dependent chain a metachain or schedule it separately.
I found at the end of first process chain they kept one process like Raise event and second process chain connected with the help of raise event process event name. If you have any idea about this process could explain a bit more.
Ans : May be they are raising the event in the main chain and triggering the dependent chain using this event.
But Metachain is preferred for such thing.Though it does similar thing.

Process Chain after EVENT - More than once

Hi all, I would like to run a process chain after an event; everything works fine with the following model...
PC1 >>
     >> some processes
     >> EVENT TRIGGER
PC2 >>
     (after EVENT) runs ok after event ONLY if I SCHEDULE it
After succesfully run, I've tried to run again immediatly PC1 again and it runs ok, even triggers mentioned EVENT, but PC2 never runs again until I manually SCHEDULE it.
The answer is: how should I SCHEDULE the process chain PC2 so I'll "never" need again to SCHEDULE it when I want it to run after event triggered on PC1?

Hello,
Both process chains are separated. At the model I described, at the end of PC1 event is succesfully triggered. After event is triggered at PC1, PC2 triggers correctly due it is scheduled as "after event".
Everything works fine, then, if I trigger PC1 again it runs correctly; event is triggered succesfully but PC2 (that is scheduled as "after event") doesn't runs; this is because I haven't SCHEDULED it again (after the first succesfully run).
What I want is not schedule PC2 after a succesfully run. Is there any way to reach that purpose?

How to determine the source of Events triggered in a process chain

Hi ,
We have almost a 100 process chains, and of these approx 20-30 local process chains are triggered by events raised within other process chains. These events are raised via BP_EVENT_RAISE using the ABAP process type.
However, our problem is to identify the source of these event trigger - i.e. which process chain triggered this event ?
Looking at SM64, the event history does not display the source for these events.
Is there any table or program that we can use to determine the source of these events which are triggered.
Any help is much appreciated and points awarded.

Hi,
do check in the program /SSA/BWT . or TCODE - ST13 -- enter BW-TOOLS and execute. -- Choose Process chains and execute --- Select the date and time for which you want to see the process chains and execute again.
This will give you the entire list of process chains triggered, status, timings(start, end, overall runtime). Once clicked on the process chains it will show you the steps in theprocess chains, data loaded in the data targets, source system, etc...

Query on using EVENTS in process chains.

Process Chain A on completion posts a Trigger using FM - BP_EVENT_RAISE.
Is there an ABAP program to check for the specific event completion from process chain A. Basically , we need an FM or program that reads the event status ( whether event raised or not ) and accordingly triggers another process chain.
We need this fuctionality in process chain B coz we would be using an AND condition that checks for the event trigger from process chain A as well as Step 1 in chain B.

1) Let us say ,Process Chain A, will triggger an event EVENT_A for an example.
instead of one evnt use 2 events, EVENT_A on success and EVENT_B on failure.
2) Link Program A to EVENT_A and Program B o EVENT_B

Using events in Process chain

Hi All,
I have below scenario:
Now we are using event collecter and subsequent event in event collector .
I am going to convert my loads into Process chain from Infopackage groups. My problem is I can use event1 directly in Start of process chain but how to trigger event2 using this chain. I need to trigger event2 once my PC is completed successfully. The even2 will trigger a background job to execute one ABAP program. This ABAP program triggers event1 again if it meets certain requirement.

Event1(Start) --> Sequence of PC steps --> ABAP Program Process Type (To trigger Event2) --> Event2 triggers again Event1( If meets requirement)
What is your End of the Process Chain if it triggers again Event1?
Why do you want to trigger events in a cyclic way?

Event Data Change triggering process hangs in the process chain

Hi,
In a daily running process chain we have an event data change trigger for broadcast setting which goes to long running status very often and ultimately we have to cancel the job in precalcserver and manually execute the reports based on it. This step fails very often and rarely it gets executed in the chain with a green status. I want to know the reason for the failure and the solution for permanent fix.
On digging through the respective logs thru SLG1 I found the following error messages for the same. Please find it below if it can help u in analysis

it's related to precal server, I guess it failed due to lack of memory or setting issue.
Please do following
1 Clear all precal server pendings
2 After this, restart the server.
3 Execute again.

Triggering BW Process Chain based on multiple conditions/events

Hi all,
We are facing a situation where we need to execute a BW process chain only if another process chain and two different R/3 jobs are completed.
Could anyone give any inputs as to how to include multiple start conditions for a BW process chain.

we did the following for the same challenge :
create a z table with a description field and a date field.
eg
job_1 20100829
job_2 20100829
job_3 20100829
create one program that reads this table and inserts for every job an entry.
if you already have two other entries in the table, this means the other two jobs have also finished to you can trigger the chain (check the forum on how to trigger a chain using abap).
if you don't have the entries in the table insert the entry for this job.
create one event (event_1) to trigger this program.
at the end of the R/3 job/process chain raise event_1 in BW.

Triggering of process chains based on events

Hello experts,
I have a requirement to trigger the process chain whenever there is a file placed into the application server.
The file comes comes into the application server randomly i.e not periodically and the file name comes with created date and time.
My process chain has to run immediately once file has been placed in the application server.
Can you help me on this?

This means your Event need to run every day to check if the file exist or not? if the file exist in the application server then PC need to be triggered.
Take the help of ABAP person, so that he can implement the logic you are looking for.
