Process chains problems : Working every day with error (red)

Hi All,
I have a next question, about process chains problem.
When I start my process chains immediate, then working without errors, but I want this process chains work every day and chainged properties, selected date/time and periodicaly (every day) but now it work with error.
How to I find problems? What are yours offers?
p.s. I see logs, but every day have diffence between errors.

HI,
just check the time which you have given is OK or is overlappintg with some other job which is locking your table in process chain
or is colliding with attribute change run
or it fails because of lack of background processes.
There could be numerious reasons and you need to analyze the log for this.
But as you said the job is failing everday for different reasons..try to find the most common errors and try to remove it or mention that here.

DATE_WEEKDAY1( Current Date ) = 4 for running this every Thursday and DATE_TO_WEEK formula to meet the requirement of restricting the chain not to run on 53rd week?
How can I make the chain to run on alternate Thursdays?

Process Chain Problem - RSPCPROCESSLOG

Hi,
we have just upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7(patch 11) and we are currently experiencing a sporadic problem when executing process chains.
In some loading chains, even though the previous infopackage has finished successfully, the next package does not start. The entries for the previous processes in table RSPCPROCESSLOG have field ACTUAL_STATE = 'F' (Completed), whereas normally the completed loads have status = 'G'. This causes our process chains to get stuck and we can waste quite a lot of loading time due to this.
Does anyone know why these (apparently) successful loads would be stored in RSPCPROCESSLOG with status = 'F'?
I noticed in another thread that there is a function module (RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH) which can change the status, but as our chains are not constantly monitored we can lose a considerable amount of time before this function module can be executed.
Also, I found OSS note 1002791 which looks relevant, although when I look at the correction instructions, it refers to TYPE = DTP_LOAD in table RSPCPROCESSLOG, whereas our problem is occurring with TYPE = 'LOADING', because we have not yet migrated from BW3.5 functionality.
Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Really don't know about when the status gets set. Have to look at that a bit.
I do know that some changes were made in 7.0 to some things like change runs and I think other processes to use background processes instead of dialog. Not saying this is your problem, but still something to look at. Sometimes if you look at jobs in SM37 and if you see that you had jobs with delays before they actually started, that can suggest insufficent background processes.
Can you adjust your chains or timings so that not as many chains try to run at the same time or reduce the number of subchains that are triggered at the same time. There is an OSS Note that talks about how many background processes you need to have free for process chains to work proprely - try searching for that.

Process chain variant for Acivaton of DSO error!!!

I have a data flow which has three data sources A B C ...A and B are connected to DSO X and C is connected to DSO Y,
DSO X and Y are again connected to DSO Z....DSO Z is connected to Final Target (Info Cube M).
Now Iam created a Process chain ...After Start Variant Iam running the Delta Info Packs for B and C (A's Delta Info pack runs in some other chain).
Then using Update from PSA for A B C ...using AND for A&B PSA to load in to DSO X...paralelly I used C PSA update in to DSO Y...Then used AND to load X& Y to Z...
When I run the process chain it runs good twice...we created a job in SM37 to run this job for every 4 hours....when I come back and see ...DSO X has data loaded and activated
But DSO Y loaded the data but activation doesnt took...When I see the Process chain logs its giving the following error msgs.
                                    - 1 -
      Request REQU_D3DR8GR9CPUIA56IMER47VWW7 (0000060949) is not
      available in data target. No PSA process possible.
Like this error each chain is showing error messages with the request numbers which are already activated in DSO.I donno when the req is already there as active why activation looking for that old req?
I fixed it by manually updating the DSOs and Cube...Can anybody let me know how to fix this in Process chain.

I think you may have a timing issue, as when you perform this update manually there is no issue's.
I would suggest you load both ODS's then you activate the data on both, then you have the AND step once both have been activated to then feed the data to the subsequent Infoprovider.
This should resolve your issue.

Run process chain on last three days of the month

Hello
I need to run process chain on last three days of the month. For example , It should run on 28, 29 and 30th dates of June.
There is no option to put a code in the start process of the process chain.
I can run it every day and put a code in the infopackage/DTP so that empty load (0 records) will be done on other days.
This doesnt sound as a good option.
Do u know any other options?

Process chain problem

Hi friends,
in my process chain it is giving the following error(in display messages)though the data has been loaded and activated in my ods.
Full updates already available in DSO ZCRM_O01; Cannot update init./delta
actually we done a repair full request on full infopackage.
on the same ods we have init and delta info packages.
please suggest me how to handle it

Hi,
I think some full request are available in u data target, so in case of DSO, system not allows u to load deltas if already full load are there in case of DSO. So u first convert all the requests to repair full requests by using the report RSSM_SET_REPAIR_FULL_REQUEST_ALL in se38. Tehn run the init load with out data transfer and then start loading the deltas.

Set process chain status to green despite an error

Hi everybody,
I've made a process chain with an ODS activation. If there's an error, an AND process comes with a message to users.
When an error occurs on the ODS activation, the process chain ends like I want but his status is red.
How can I do to set the status to green ? Is that possible ?

Ok,
In that case it can be simplier than that.
You need after activation of ODS in your chain have two branches, one with error and another one with success.
In the case of the success the branch is connected to the rest of the chain and the rest of the chain will continue and remain green status for that chain as the overall result of the chain.
In the case of error the new branch is connected to a process that will always terminate with sucess. As an example you could create a variant for roll-up of aggregates of an Infocube. In these variant do not select any InfoCube and mark the option End Process Sucessfully if No Aggregates Exist. This will always force this process to OK, green status, and therefore will always end your chain as green status even when the ODS activation fails

This may be due to AQ_TM_PROCESSES parameter.
what is value of AQ_TM_PROCESSES parameter..
Also paste value of processes parameter.
Also login as sysdba and give output of :

No, Firefox keeps the cache index files in memory during the session and only writes that data to disk if Firefox closes properly. Delete ur requests and try to laod them again.
Try to find the detailed error message which u can find the process monitor --> Status page --> step by step analysis.
So that you can get more information regarding ur error.

Process chains time outs and hangs with no error msg - in SP13

Hi all,
We are having all kind of weird problems after we patched our system with SP13. Our process chain time outs and hangs, but surprisingly we never get any error msg. And scarier part is, the problem seems to be intermittent. PC runs fine on some days and hangs on some.
Further analysis into the dump as below
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "SAPLRSSM" -
in "RSSM_SLEEP_DEBUG".
The main program was "SAPMSSY1 ".
In the source code the termination point is in (Include) program "LRSSMU39".
This refers to an issue that appears to have been addressed by OSS Note
934648(meant for SP8). This notes also indicates to populate RSADMIN table to
exclude "RSSM_SLEEP_DEBUG". Not sure if this note is valid for SP13? However we went ahead and populated the RSADMIN table.
So now we have no clue whats going on and where to fix the issue.
As per SAP suggestion we applied the following notes:
0000653996 Analyzing lock situations
0000893563 Correction: Deadlock on completion of a remote chain
0000994007 Corrections: Deadlock with external status query
0001005481 Correction: Process successful, but there is no instance
0001047174 Correction: Incorrect scope when locking in process chains
0001051957 Correction: TIME_OUT during dialog confirmation of processes
0001083660 Report for error stack analysis
Nothing seems to help us. And SAP suggested a few options, which we implemented to no rescue.
Im sure that many of the customers have applied SP13, and want some feedback from them, if this is happening in their systems too?
If so, how did you fix this issue?
Or this situation is unique to us?Please note that no settings were changed as of SP13 to that of what they were in SP12(unless it is a side effect of the patch itself). Everything worked fine with SP12 and is still working on the BIP system. All the problems are in BIQ patched to SP13.
Any pointers or insight would be appreciated. We have a customer msg open with SAP, and going back and forth, but nothing seemed to work as of today.

Not sure which OSS helped us get past the issue, as SAP asked us to apply a ton of notes. But along which the notes, SAP has some suggestions for us, which we think did the magic. After the implementation of the suggestin we never faced the same issue again. The suggestion by SAP:
move the process chain callback in a batch job by executing
program RSSM_TRACE_SWITCH and selecting the flag "verifcation
of asynchronous processes - execute in batch".
Lemme know if this doesnt fix the issue, I can give all the notes that SAP asked us to apply.

Problem in process chain running for 3 days

Please help me
We have process chain like below
1.     delete index
2.     full loads going 3 cubes (16 infopacs)
3.     loading to ods and then update to cube
4.     delete overlapping requests (16 infopac)
5.     create index
6.     aggregate filling
7.     delete PSA
Now the issue is, from last Saturday onwards
Process chains was still in Yellow status till date, so now, 1,2,3,4, are still running
In process chains, out if 16 infopacs, 12 are green, remaining 4 are stopped
And in ODS activation of ods data variant shows yellow, but when checked the data is activated, but not pushed to cube. When checked log it show u201Csystem exception error_messageu201D, so process terminated.
When we checked for shortdump,
It says u201Clocal time on the application server is incorrectu201D
Experts please let me know how to solve this and correct the load.

I have done the steps manually yestarday, checked todays, still it is in yellow status.
let me explain the scenario,
The data is going to 3 cubes,
the process chain is designed like this,
1. initially delete index
2. full load to cube using 16 infopac and loading from (2)ODS to cube.
3. delete overlapping requests
4. create index (3 cubes)
5. fill aggregates (only one cube)
6. Delete PSA request
so now , chain is having problem at
1. data is loaded to ods
2. data activation (showing yellow, but when checked data is activated)
3. further update to cube (2 cubes) in process chain this is not started atall ( so y'day I've done manually)
4. out 16 infocpack, only 12 infopacs are green and remaining 4 are not started.
so yestarday I've manually schedule remaining 4 infopacs.
and deleted previour requests in infocube as they are full load, but I did'nt done create index and fill aggregate steps.
now the problem is , out of 3 cube report available request is present for 2 cubes, but for 3 cube this report request is not available, but QM status is green
please let me know how to proceed.
one small silly question, do i need to fill aggregate step to get this report available request.....please suggest.

in my process chain we are loading 4 loads into ODS. After 3 loads, 4th load didn't take place. its not yet started even 3rd one successfully ran. its not showing error also. what can i do. after 4th one ODS activation process is there.
Please advice me. will i go for manual loading. if i do manual, what abt activation after 4th load. will i do activation also manual or else it will trigger automatically as part of process chain........../

Hi Swetha,
Sometimes, it doesn't help to just set a request to green status in order to run the process chain from that step on to the end.
You need to set the failed request/step to green in the database as well as you need to raise the event that will force the process chain to run to the end from the next request/step on.
Therefore you need to open the messages of a failed step by right clicking on it and selecting 'display messages'.
In the opened popup click on the tab 'Chain'.
In a parallel session goto transaction se16 for table rspcprocesslog and display the entries with the following selections:
1. copy the variant from the popup to the variante of table rspcprocesslog
2. copy the instance from the popup to the instance of table rspcprocesslog
3. copy the start date from the popup to the batchdate of table rspcprocesslog
Press F8 to display the entries of table rspcprocesslog.
Now open another session and goto transaction se37. Enter RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH as the name of the function module and run the fm in test mode.
Now copy the entries of table rspcprocesslog to the input parameters of the function module like described as follows:
1. rspcprocesslog-log_id -> i_logid
2. rspcprocesslog-type -> i_type
3. rspcprocesslog-variante -> i_variant
4. rspcprocesslog-instance -> i_instance
5. enter 'G' for parameter i_state (sets the status to green).
Now press F8 to run the fm.
Now the actual process will be set to green and the following process in the chain will be started and the chain can run to the end.
Of course you can also set the state of a specific step in the chain to any other possible value like 'R' = ended with errors, 'F' = finished, 'X' = cancelled ....
Check out the value help on field rspcprocesslog-state in transaction se16 for the possible values.
Try this solution with your 3rd ODS..hope this will solve your problem for this instance. This is just a workaround.
Before next scheduel of the process chain..remove the link between 3rd ODS and 4th ODS and then reconnect once again and activate the process chain and schedule it as per your schedule cycle. From next upload onwards everything works fine.

Process Chain - Decision Step - 1st Day of Month

I have a process chain decision that detemines if it is 1st of Month,
1st Line
Command -> IF
Formula -> WORKINGDAY_MONTH( Current Date, 'IE', '' ) = 1
then
Event - > Option 1
2nd Line
Command -> Else IF
Formula -> WORKINGDAY_MONTH( Current Date, 'IE', '' ) <>1
then
Event -> Option 2
3rd Line
Command -> Else
then
Error.
However, this month it has failed to work correctly. It was sucessful on 1st Jan, but it is also triggering Option 1 on 2nd, 3rd & 4th Jan. Can you help me to understand why it is doing this?

The process chains should run everyday therefore I don't understand how this would affect the process chain.
This is just a decision step at the end of the Daily Meta Chain, where if it is the 1st of the Month, it will continue and process a DTP for Stock Balances. The problem I have is that for the last 3 days, it has continued to process final step eventhough it is not 1st of Month.
For info; When I check the decision logic in the variant, I can see that the date that is being used in syst-datum.
Have you any other ideas?
