Process Flow Exit Parameters, Possible?

I want to send through variables from One process to Another within a Process Flow Package, is this possible.
I'm not able to add EXIT parameters to the END Object through which I can hand over values to the next process, how is this done?

Sorry, currently it is not possible. In the next release, END activity will support parameters.

  • SQLPLUS Acitivity in process flow Input parameters to the script

I have a sqlplus Activity in the process flow. In the script section I have a update statement which has a where clause where I need to pass a date field as input paramter to this script to compare and update the records.
Is there a way to pass Input Parameters to the script.
    update test
    set last_name = 'TEST'
    where trunc(begin_date) = :begin_date;
Begin_date is a variable in my process flow which I need to pass to this script.
Any ideas as to how I can accomplish this.
    Thanks in advance.

You can Create a procedure of the Update statement with one input paramenter like
    Create Or replace procedure Update_test ( p_begin_date date )
    IS
    update test
    set last_name = 'TEST'
    where trunc(begin_date) = p_begin_date;
End;Then call this Procedure in the Process Flow and give input parameter from PF variable.

  • Can we run process-flow from outside OWB

    Hi All,
I am scheduling my process-flows daily in night. If any process-flow fails, they will rectify the problems and they want to run the process flow manually, outside own, like SQL.
    Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi Detlef,
I tried to execute the following, I dint get any response and the sqlplus closed automatically. When I saw the execution details no executing had taken palce. And even I tried to execute the command by commenting the exit in the script.
    sqlplus RA_OWB1/RA_OWB1@RADEV1 @C:\OraHome_1\owb\rtp\sql\sqlplus_exec_template.sql RA_OWB1 PlatformSchema ProcessFlow SAI_PF "," ","
Is there any external (oracle function), so that I can pass any number of Process-flows as parameters for execution. Client will create a form with a list of check boxes and execute button. when the user selects the check boxes according to his rerquirements and click execute. then all the process-flows should run.
    Regards,
    Kumar.

  • Replace mappings in Process Flows

    Hi,
Is there an easy way of replacing an existing mapping ina PF with new version of the same?
    thanks
    mahesh

OK, here is some sample code you can play with. What it does is drop the mapping activity from the process flow and then replace it with a fresh version, rebuilding parameters and transitions.
I used an additional DB connection to query for problem activities. You can see the logic in the $v_mapquery query: alter this if you need something different. This is much faster then using pure scripting: there would problems of RAM and speed while scanning all process flows using OMBPlus.
So I cache all the needed info in some lists and then print/reconcile it.
Having an extra open connection can cause some concurrency problems, but this was designed to run batch and send back an e-mail with results.
    Some extra notes:
1-if a mapping is dropped I print the unbound activity but can't reconcile it
2-activities are replaced so they will be out of position when you enter the process flow editor
2-there was a bug in scripting related to SQLLoader mappings. I don't know if this has been fixed; so you can have problems with these.
The following 3 procedures cache the process flow info.
    # Retrieve transitions of a proc. flow activity

  • Process Flow Parameters.

    A quick question:
Does anyone know if it is possible to have a process flow pass variable values into variables defined in a sub-process? I mean, clearly I could have the main process run a transformation to write this value to a table, and then have a transformation in the sub-process retrieve it, but I would prefer a cleaner approach if possible.
    Any ideas?

Aha! It was the Parameters I hadn't got figured out.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Mapping parameters binding gets removed in process flow

    Hi All,
whenever i import a mdl file from development to production
parameters binding of few mappings and pprocedures in process flow get removed automatically.
for example Map1 in PF1 has input parameter p1 binding set to Pf.p1.
this binding is getting automatically removed when i import the mdl file from development to production.
I am in big trouble bcz of it.
    could anyone plz help.
    Thanks in anticipation,
    RD_RBS

This also happend to us when we moved from dev to prod. We really didn't find any good way to bypass this but just rather enter the binding values again manually. You might wanna check a few other things that got lost during the move. Such as DB Link(DB Connections on stage tables) and Outgoing Transitions in the process flows.

  • Passing parameters from shell script to OWB process flow

    Hi all,
I am running OWB process flow (using the template script provided by oracle) and i want to pass two date parameters as shown below:

How do i catch those values in process flow and pass those to mappings in Process flow?
Do i need to create PF variables with same names or any name will do?
    Thanks in advance

This document is explaining how to pass data between activities in process flow.
I am passing parameters from a shell script.
Any ideas, how to pass parameters from shell script and then initialize the process flow variables based on those values and then pass them further to mappings.
    Thanks

  • Using cmd within the process flow. possible?

I am trying to combine all the flat files in a directory in my process flow by executing
    cmd> C:\folder *.log copy new.log
is this possible within the owb?

I would like to ask another question..
The external table isnt dynamically connected to the flat file defined, so does it mean that I would have to re-deploy it again, everytime the content of the flat-file get updated?
if so, is there a way for me to deploy the external table within the process flow?

In B i have mapping Out put parameter and in C i have a mapping input parameter.
In process flow palatte i could see Key as OUT and in C properties i could bind it to Key .
but i try to deploy this mapping i am getting error below
    PF_PKG Create Error
RPE-02040: Internal error: KEY cannot be converted to a constant value. Please correct the value. If the problem persists then please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and details on how to reproduce it.
    TEST_PFCreate INFORMATIONAL
RPE-02071: Deployment has been aborted due to a previously reported critial error.
please suggest me how to pass parameters between mappings with in a process flow.

    Hi
You have to use process flow variables. So the output of map A, say parameter P would bind to variable V and then the input of map B, say Q would bind to variable V. In this way you can push parameters from one activity to the other. Although the UI lets you bind B.Q to A.P, it should not, I think there is a bug reported on this.
    Cheers

  • Passing parameters in process flow

    Hi All,
Is there a way to pass parameters between different process flow operators like transformation activity, mapping, etc using any variable. Either defining new variable or using existing variable. Does process flow provides any variables whose values can be changed by one mapping and used by mapping following it.
    Any help would be appreicated.
    Platform - OWB 10gR1
    Regards,
    Ron.

write a PL/SQL transformation, function or procedure either. Call the Transformation before the mapping, like if you want to execute that mapping or not based on the return vale.
"can be changed by one mapping and used by mapping following it"
Yes, you can. Log the value into database , then convert the following mapping as the PL/SQL transformation, where you can easily take the previous mapping output value, which has been stored. All you need some temp parameter table. The way you can define a table to be used for more than one case.

  • Confused: usage of process flow parameters

    I'm wondering:
I wanted to use a process parameter as input for more than one process component. but when i bind it to the first component (e.g. a transformation) it is not possible to bind it again to the next transformation in the same process flow.
    is this "normal"?
the only workarround I see is to create local var's and assign them with an assignment op.
can someone help to clarify the situation?

    Hi,
usually it is no problem to bind a parameter from you START1 activity to several other activities in you process flow.
I did it in OWB 11.1 and 11.2.
Which version do you use ?
    Greetings
    Thomas

  • OMB Script - Run a process flow (OMBSTART) with input parameters.

I have a process flow with one input parameter : PF_SCHEMA_NAME. This is a string, literal value = false.
While running this from the OWB Control center UI, it prompts for value of parameter.
I need to execute this process flow using OMB script.
    OMBSTART PROCESS_FLOW 'WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP' IN '$OWFLOCATION' OVERRIDE CUSTOM_PARAMETER ('PF_SCHEMA_NAME') VALUES ('ADVIEWPROD')
    This gives following error:
    OMBSTART PROCESS_FLOW 'WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP' IN 'OWF_LOCATION' OVERRIDE CUSTOM_PARAMETER ('PF_SCHEMA_NAME') VALUES ('ADVIEWPROD')
    Starting Execution WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP

    Thanks David for your reply.
But your suggestion did not work. I am still getting the same error.
    OMBSTART PROCESS_FLOW 'WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP' IN '$OWFLOCATION' OVERRIDE CUSTOM_PARAMETER ('PF_SCHEMA_NAME') VALUES ('"ADVIEWPROD"')
    Starting Execution WMREPORT_INCR_DAILY_FCT_SIMP

    Can you please help?

  • Is It Possible To Start a Process Flow on Receipt of an Email?

    Hi
Does anyone know if you can trigger the start of a process flow once an email has been received?
    thanks ...

alternatively what you can done is:
If you are using unix/linux OS then:
create an SMTP service on unix/linux
have the email coming into unix/linux
write a unix shell scrpt to read he mails on a regular basis
if the email is existing create a "touch file" referred as flag file
use the OWB to check if the flat file exists on unix as owb can communicate with unix/linux
and then run the process flow which has the mappings
If you are using Windows OS then:
have a program which will extract the mail from your local mailbox onto a server, there are few softwares available in the market
use the option of writing it into a table or follow the flag file approach stated above.
