Process variable string into filename at Save service

Hello,
Does anyone know how to put a string into the Pathname Pattern (Template) property of a Save service (FileUtilsService - Write Document) ?
What I'm trying to do is strip the /'s out of a date string and put that date into a filename. For example, 042208_Greg.pdf
Instead I get d:\WMS\C0419\04\22\08\_Greg.pdf
I want: d:\WMS\C0419\042208_Greg.pdf
I have a Set Value service putting a form submit date (MM/DD/YY format) into a process variable called @stringDate. I am stripping /'s out of the date and setting @stringDate like so: /process_data/@stringDate <--- concat(substring(/process_data/xfaform/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/C0419/Approvers/Init iator/Date,1,2),substring(/process_data/xfaform/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/C0419/Approv ers/Initiator/Date,4,5),substring(/process_data/xfaform/object/data/xdp/datasets/data/C041 9/Approvers/Initiator/Date,7,8))
At the Save file service, I am using @stringDate in my Pathname Pattern (Template) to create the filename: d:\WMS\C0419\{/process_data/@stringDate}_{$/process_data/xfaform/object/data/xdp/datasets /data/C0419/Approvers/Initiator/CompletedBy/Name$}.pdf
Thanks,

Hi Greg
You've done a great job getting this done with xpath.
It looks to me like you've done everything right - what's not working - are you getting an exception, or is the file being saved with the wrong name?
There is a nice little DateFormatter component here, that might make things a little easier/flexible.

  • Converting string data from a web service respons into XML structure of XI

    Hi,
    We receive a string structure from a web service.
    The string structure has an xml type format, that is all the tags and its content are in one line .
    The WSDL file of the webservice defines its response structure as a string type.
    How do i convert this string into proper XML structure (predefined by me in Integration repository).
    OR how do i make XI understand this string as an XML structure for further processing.
    Later i have to map this XML message type into IDoc.
    Himani

    Hi Himani,
    Please find the code for ur requirement -
    String need to parse -<response_webservice><from_date>20080101</from_date><to_date>20080202</to_date></response_webservice>
    Below mentioned code will convert it to -<MT_DATA><FROMDATE>20080202</FROMDATE><TODATE>20080101</TODATE></MT_DATA>
    Create a Message type and map it like this using java mapping ( no need to use Graphical mapping).
    Use MT_DATA as source and map it to your target structure .

  • Process Instance : Update Process Variables with Java API

    Hi,
    I need to set a lot of process variables in a java service that is executed in a process but can't find the way to do that.
    Is it possible to modify the value of a variable from a process instance with the JAVA API ?
    I didn't find this type of function (for example with the ProcessManager API).
    Thanks,
    Will

    Could you place your logic in an executeScript service?
    You can use native Java there.
    I have had good luck getting values in and out of process varaibles with the get... set...
    this is a very simple example.
    import com.adobe.workflow.pat.service.*;
    String allowLogging = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/@allowLogging");
    patExecContext.setProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/@errorActivity", "Save Doc XML");
    patExecContext.setProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/@errorMessage", "SystemException");
    if (allowLogging.equalsIgnoreCase("true")) {
    System.out.println("@@@@ Save Doc XML @@@@");
    System.out.println("@@@@ SystemException @@@@");
    }; // END allowLogging

  • Passing a string into an SQL query IN statement

    Hello,
    I need to connect to a database to pull some data to dynamically create a form based on the data I pull back. My SQL query works fine when I manually run it through a SQL client tool, but when I try to pass it through my workflow I'm having trouble with passing my string into the IN part of the statement. So if for example my SQL query is:
    SELECT Field1, Field2, Field3 FROM Table1 WHERE Field4 IN (?)
    I have a process variable that has the string I'm trying to pass into the ?, but I don't seem to be able to get the query to run. I have tried setting up my query to run as a Parameterized Query (passing my string process variable into the ?), and by setting the query up through xPath (where I am calling my process variable with an xPath declaration), but am not having any luck.
    The process variable I am trying to pass is formatted such that I'm passing 'Value1','Value2','Value3' but I can reformat this string if need be. Even with using test data I can't get the query to return anything. For test data I have tried: 'Value1','Value2','Value3' ; Value1','Value2','Value3 ; Value1,Value2,Value3 but the query never returns any data. I can't seem to see how to format the string to pass into the query. The Query will work with a single Value in the test data, but as soon as I try to pass multiple values within the string it fails. Any suggestions?

    The problem looks to be a limit on what I can pass into the SQL query component. My string is coming from data returned from another database. I take the xml output from that database call, pass it through a set variable component to remove my xml tags from the string, and then format the string in a script component (I have to do it this way because of the way the data coming out of my first database call). I've put in loggers, and can see that the string I'm passing into my query that is giving me problems, is formatted the same way as if I were to use the concat function Scott listed above. It looks like there is a limitation on what can be passed in my variable. I have tried creating my entire SQL query statement in a set variable component, and then just calling the process variable that holds that statement, but there is a character limit of 128 character for what can be passed in a variable through xpath in the SQL query component.
    The next thing I tried was changing my SQL where clause. Instead of passing my variable directly into the IN statement I set up a PATINDEX('%:'+countyname+ ':%', ?) > 0 call to check for the values in my database call. As you can see I took out the "," that I was passing as part of my string, thinking that the SQL component was getting confused by them, and placed ":" characters around my values being passed in my string variable. No matter what I try to do though I'm not able to get the query to run. The component looks like it is taking my string, and is seeing the whole thing as a string instead of passing it as individual values within a string.
    I think I'm getting close, but I keep getting a Content not allowed in prolog exception in the server logs.

  • Process xml string on url

    Hi,
    I need to build a page that will do the following and I'm
    hoping for some
    guidance..
    remote client open URL
    http://domain.com/getdata.cfm
    remote client check that the port is open then send xml
    string
    the page needs to process the xml string
    example: <data>
    <id>1</id>
    <event>sales</event>
    </data>
    after process send back a respond...
    I don't know where to begin doing something like this... any
    suggestions
    would be greatly appreciated!

    I tried that, and it in fact is a string. I also renamed my
    function correctly (i.e. loadMovie), but I'm still getting the
    'undefined' issue for the URL. I've tried to comment a little more
    in the text below. The problem seems to be in the last 4 or 5 lines
    where I'm trying to use a variable string to define the url instead
    of a hard coded string with " quotes ".
    Thanks again! :)
    // Create new XML Object and set ignoreWhite true
    book_xml = new XML();
    book_xml.ignoreWhite = true;
    // Setup load handler which just invokes another function
    // which will do the parsing of our XML
    book_xml.onLoad = function(sucess) {
    if (sucess) {
    processBook(book_xml);
    // Load up the XML file into Flash
    book_xml.load('book.xml');
    // This is the function that will be called when
    // our XML document is loaded succesfully
    function processBook(xmlDoc_xml) {
    // xmlDoc_xml is now a reference to the XML
    // object where our information is stored
    // the content of the first three variables below display
    fine because the variables are
    // linked to a dynamic text field. The 4th is not working
    since I am using it to define
    // the URL in the loadmovie function below.
    topictxt1_var =
    (xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.firstChild.firstChild.nodeValue);
    bodytxt1_var =
    (xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.firstChild.nextSibling.firstChild.nodeValue);
    instructions_var =
    (xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.firstChild.nextSibling.nextSibling.firstChild.nodeValue );
    media_var =
    (xmlDoc_xml.firstChild.firstChild.firstChild.nextSibling.nextSibling.nextSibling.firstChi ld.nodeValue);
    //The problem here is that the variable media_var contains
    the string "images/award.jpg" without the quotes.
    //In the loadmovie function needs the quotes " at the
    beginning and end of the string images/award.jpg to define the URL.
    //This works>> loadMovie("images/award.jpg", image_mc);
    //This doesn't
    loadMovie(media_var, image_mc);

  • Unable to convert string into binary

    Hello,
    I have a web application that does the following:
    1. Takes in user information via form. This includes images.
    2. Displays all the user information in a portfolio. Looks like the portfolio on this page:
    http://wrapbootstrap.com/preview/WB00PN23G
    3. When clicking on each item you are brought to a page that displays the form information and the images.
    So far it works fine but instead of sending the images as binary to SQL database I send them as strings and the problem is now when I update the code on my cloud host the images no longer display but all the text displays fine. I am thinking the problem
    is that instead of sending my images as strings I need to store them as binary and retrieve them as well. The problem is I did some research and have been unsuccessful in the ways mentioned.
    Here is my code for the form:
    //gather all the information from the form
    //I call a stored procedure to send my data to my sql database
    using (SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("SaveImage", connection.con))
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@username", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = UserName.Text;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@email", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = Email.Text;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@project", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = Project.Text;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@description", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = Description.Text;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@img1", SqlDbType.VarBinary).Value = img1;

    Hi compuluv,
    To store it in the Image object. This image object must be converted to a byte array.
    Based upon your code as below, please try to change Varchar to byte[].
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@img1", SqlDbType.VarBinary).Value = img1;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@img2", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = img2;
    cmd.Parameters.Add("@img3", SqlDbType.VarChar).Value = ppt;
    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    For more detailed information, please check
    C# Save and Load Image from Database
    By the way, since your project is a web application, I also found a asp.net version as below.
    You can get some hints.

  • Move used variables/strings

    Dear all,
    I try to use Dasylab to control and collect data from several equipments at lab (thermostat, stirrer, syringe pump, manostat, thermometer...). Now I have prepared several worksheets (each for single equipment) and it +- works (it is necessary to complete with some functionality but for collecting current lab data it is sufficient). The worksheets works, but only for single equipment, but I need to work with all of them. So I rebuild the worksheets that the each equipment is packed at black boxes (each worksheet one black box ant it works). Then I save all of black boxes and put them to one worksheet. Unfortunately, the worksheet prepared this way doesn’t work because there are problems with global string and variables. When I save the black box, I don't save the string/variables definitions. For instance the expression of one string in original worksheet is calculated automatically this way: "R" + SubStr( "000",1, 3-(${VAR_51}>=1000)-(${VAR_51}>=100)-(${VAR_51}>10)) + StrFmt(${VAR_51},8,0)+${STR_52} to prepare output string "R0120\r". I am able to export and import global string and variables but only as whole package of 999 variables. I don’t know how to move only used ones (I am able to move them at TXT format, but I am not able to read them to Dasilab as variables).
    I have two questions:
    1 - Is there any possibility to set "calculate expression automatically" for string/variable during running of program (using some action module or something like that)?
    2 - Is there any possibility to save only used strings/variables and collected several packages of variables to one (for instance VAR_1-VAR_50 for thermostat and VAR_100-VAR_150 for thermometer)?

    I found that if I used the Define Global Variable dialog, and clicked the Save button, it gave me a choice of saving defined variables (those whose settings are not the default) or variable with descriptions.
    I saved the file. It gave me a file that included all of the information.
    I tried to use the Global Variables and Strings Import dialog, but the file was not ordered correctly.
    I opened it in Excel and changed the columns around to match the Help (see picture). Then, I saved it as a TXT file again.
    It imported with some errors - notably the additional settings, such as read at start, do not import. The one formula that I created imported correctly.
    I think that you can save the used variables from your various worksheets, combine them into one file, change the order of the columns. Since it's a text file, you can change the variable numbers if you need to...
    Unfortunately, you cannot import strings this way, as the Help says "DASYLab can only read in strings from VAR formats."  Personally, I agree that this is a major limitation!

  • How to get value of process variable in another flex form

    Hi,
    currently we are using Flex 3 for form development in LiveCycle ES workspace.
    We have got an "Assign Task" service operation. This service operation has got a process variable defined for "input" and "output".
    The service will be called in a flex form. When the process is called a task will be sent to a user.
    When the user opens this task another flex form will be opened. All these steps work fine!
    How it's possible to get the value of the defined process variable from the first flex form (which starts the process)
    to the flex form which will be displayed when the user opens the task?
    Thanks very much for your help!
    Holger

    Solutions:
    -The 'proper' way for application specific stuff is to use a properties file, not env vars.
    -Use System.getenv(), only works for versions before 1.3
    -Use the java command line option '-D'
    -Use Runtime.exec(), similar to the way you suggested.
    -Use JNI.

  • Unable to access process variable value in the DXFA file

    Hi,
    I am using the On-Demand-Assembly solution accelerator to stitch forms. I am trying to access a process variable inside the dxfa file.
    This is the syntax i used: <c:forEach var="templateItem" items="${requestScope.paramsMap.templateList}"> The templateList value is not being fetched. The same code works fine if I hard code the items.
    paramsMap is set as the Parameters Map variable in the invokeODADocument service.
    Any suggestions on what I might be missing here??
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Vidya

    Vidya Kesavan,
    Just a shot in the dark here, but I think you may have a typo in "requestScropt.paramsMap.templateList" where "paramsMap" should be "paramsmap" in the context of the CSC template. That could be the cause, making it impossible for ODA to find the variable you're referencing. (I believe it's "paramsmap" within the CSC regardless of what name you have the Parameter Map process variable.)

  • How to Parse a string into an XML DOM ?

    Hi,
    I want to parse a String into an XML DOM. Not able to locate any parser which supports that. Any pointers to this?

  • A class to format an XML string into indented xml code

    I am looking for a class or a piece of code to format an XML string into indented xml code

    <servlet><servlet-name>Login</servlet-name>servlet-class>ucs.merch.client.system.LoginServlet</servlet-class></servlet><servlet-mapping><servlet-name>Login</servlet-name>

    </servlet-mapping>

    Xerces has a class called OutputFormat
    If you have your XML document in memory, you can format it using the method setIndenting(true) on the OutputFormat class. The following is an example:
    assuming xmlDoc is our document and fileName is the name of the file we wish to write to:
    OutputFormat format = new OutputFormat(xmlDoc);
    // setup output file name
    PrintWriter printwriter = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter(fileName, false));
    // construct an XMLSerializer for writing the document
    XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer( printwriter, format );
    // Ensure output is indented correctly...
    format.setIndenting(true);
    // set serializer as a DOM Serializer
    serializer.asDOMSerializer();
    // serialize the document
    serializer.serialize(xmlDoc);
    hope this helps!
