Product Tutorial similar to BOBJ Tools Tutorial

Hi Experts,
It would be great help if I can see the product tutorial in BW 7.4 similar to BOBJ 4.1(http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7725) covering videos about business content activation, BW 7.4 connections, creating infcubes, DSO, infoProviders, DTP, Process Chain, Transport, Special topic like COPA Extraction etc.
I will appreciate if someone already collected this information at one place.

I have a customer who is on BPC NW on HANA. Customer has BPC cube exposed in HANA, We need to do some reporting on that BPC HANA views with the ability to drill down to the hierarchies. Is there a BOBJ tool which would allow the cutomer to:
1) Drill down on the G/L level
2) Mobile compatible
3) Have access to BPC built in logic/metadata

Logic 9 advanced music production tutorial

im trying to work from the above mentioned book which came with an occompaning dvd to use. ive tried to copy the files onto my hard drive so i can work directly from them but it wont let me as there read only.......fair enough ill just work from the dvd but how am i meant to do the tasks its asking me to do such as save files as other names if they wont let me change them. i have individually gone into the seperate files im using and changed them to read/write but still it wont let me make any changes.
futher more when im trying to open time/pitch machine in functions the option is not accesable. i no it will only work with certain files types but im trying it on a a.iff file??

not tried that, but i ran the disc through disc utility and it said theres a minor header problem with it an needs repairing, however disc utility wouldnt do the repair disc function so im just gonna send the whole book and dvd back for a new one, got it from amazon so its a bit of a pain in the arse cause means ill have to wait upto 5 weeks for the new one.

Which Oracle product works similarly to Adobe Livecycle?

I am newbie using Oracle products (except for Oracle DB). My company wants to implement a workflow where an individual request to open a bank account by filling out an application (either web-base form or PDF-based form). Then, this application is submitted electronically and route it to reviewers in different departments. I know that this kind of business process can be implemented using Adobe LiveCycle. However, my company bough Oracle Universal Content Management 11g and they want me to use it to implement this process. My questions are:
1. Is Oracle UCM a suitable solution for the process mentioned above?
2. What other Oracle product will works similarly to Adobe LiveCycle?

It depends how deep you want to go... With the default functionality of UCM you can create workflows in order to approva a document for publication but you can't model a complete process in it... If you realy want to model business processes than you need a BPM tool such as BPEL.
I don't think you need to buy the complete SOA suite but you can buy the components you want...

Join transformations possible at sender, receiver CC? similar to ETL tool

There are two shipment history files (distributor sale, direct sale) with different field formats. Will it be possible to join files and update SAP BW?
csv file 1 (distributor sale) , 10 fields
csv file 2 (direct sale) , 5 fields
{Join file1, file2}->Integration Server->post the document into SAP BW.
File 1 and File 2 has enough volume, say 50,000 recs per day.
The first option that I know is:
-write a perl to join files and invoke perl from command line in Sender CC.
Seeking your help on better approach.
Please fwd how to invoke perl from command line. (Assume perl script is in windows server not part of XI app but visible to the same network. Can I use FTP server and invoke perl script?)

One option: Using BPM
1) Pick 2 files separately by 2 message interfaces so 2 communication channels.
And in the bpm, merge these 2 files into one message and send to BW.
There is a bpm Pattern available in the SAP BASIS software component in the repository-

Second option , may be using Client Java Proxy and upload the file as single data.
In both first option is straight forward and you can try out this.

How to only wipe CC products when using CC Cleaner Tool?

I am on windows, and the only option is CC AND CS6. This is a school computer, so I only want to clean my CC applications, and not the previously installed CS6 applications.

Hello, I'm try to follow steps of "Experience Application Development Framework (ADF) productivity" tutorial for jdeveloper 10g, but can't create the master detail in the jsp page. Anybody finished this tutorial successfully?

In an effort to validate my opinion of SAP BW/NetWeaver Capability - In terms of flexibility, KPI Development, and Predictive Analytics, If you had to decide, would you select SAP's product or another OLAP tool and why??

Hi,
All data warehouse products provide flexibility and good tools to build strategic reports focus on KPI. All of them also provide easy to use tools to display and organize analytic information..... I guess that the decision about what product will be chosen will be based on how difficult is to pull (and keep updated) the data from the transactional systems behind. In other words, if you are running SAP to manage a big part of your day to day transactional system, go for BW / BI.
In SAP BW / BI, you have a large group of extractors and predefined processes that enable you to pull the data from the SAP systems into multidimensional indexed data providers. Once the data is there, you could easily develop your own queries and reports, organizing them in almost whatever way you want and building almost any possible KPI you want. You cloud display and manipulate these queries and reports using almost any single PC product you want......
Now, if your data sources are not base on SAP , you have to build your own data extractors. You also have to build your own data warehouse targets (data providers) and your own mapping processes. You will be dealing with normalization and database definition concepts. Being technically feasible probably is not the best path.
If you have an hybrid situation (some SAP systems and some NO SAP system), you will evaluate how many strategic data sources you have in each size and take a decision base on that

Endeca V11 - Need for restarting Endeca Tools Service After Promoting to Production

Hello Friends,
We have setup the process on staging where once the business user(S) promote content, it exports the Workbench content config & Search config to their respective ZIP files, and the production assembler/mdex gets updated... but for some reason, if there is a new page.... added in staging workbench.... prior to export... the new page doesnt appear in production without retstarting the ENDECA TOOLS SERVICE.
Appreciate, all help / ideas?

We have 2 CAS and 4 Mailbox server that were installed from SP1 and seeing the same issue. This is a clean install still with no mailboxes migrated over as of yet. Opened a case with MS. also ran:

for MS to get back and to see how this workaround does. Seems like the original issue was not resolved completely?

post back when we get an update. Changing the DirectoryActiveMonitoringContext.xml and the above workaround do not seem suitable for us. We would like to see a complete resolution for this.

Hi guys, my company just bought BOBJ license. Our bosses still don't know for what exactly it'll be used, nor when it'll be used. I'd like to start looking through this stuff since in our company nobody has experience with BOBJ and it's obvious that some day we'll have to use it and I also would like to have. May be it'll be the third party company that would give us a workshop or something, but i don't want to wait.
My question is where should I start, what are the core BOBJ tools that will be definitely used in by a SAP BI consultant in the future (we have a SAP BW system for warehousing)
In one question, where to start and what should be the thing I'd have to learn?

BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 is a report design and distribution platform. It is comprised of:
- Client side (Windows) product
- Server side components
- Third-Party integration-enabled options
Crystal Reports Designer 2008 is a Windows product. You need it's installation media and a valid license key to install in on machines that will be used to build and publish Crystal Reports.
Dashboard Builder is present/embedded in BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 but you need:
1. "Seperate" Dashboard Builder license key
2. Setup its seperate repository
Xcelsius Designer 2008 is again a Windows product. You need it's installation media and a valid license key to install in on machines that will be used to build and publish Flash (.SWF) dashboards.
Since you are from SAP background, I presume your reporting and data visualization needs are on SAP data sources. For this to happen, you need to install "BusinessObjects Integration Kit For SAP XI 3.1" client-server specific components on top of BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 platform.

What are options for applying non-inventory costs to production orders?

We have a non-inventory costs that need to be assigned to product produced on production orders. There are two processes -make-to-order and make-to-stock.
Currently we use activity rates to apply labor and burden costs to our production. We use separate cost centers where needed to ensure that we have sufficient granularity to our activity rates applied.
We have a few specific issues where we need to understand the options for applying costs -
1) We have freight and duty costs related to inbound raw material that we want to assign to our final product. The amount assigned may be either a specific amount (or a specific amount per model), or a % of the total cost on that production order.
2) We have material on the production order bill of material that is called out by quantity and we are using discrete backflush, however we have found there are issues with the accuracy of the quantities. We want to have this product ordered using KANBAN (bin ordering) and have the value relieved from inventory when the bin is issued to production. The cost on the production order is envisioned to be an average amount for the product - or an average amount by model.
3) We want to have a portion of cost for production scrap included in the cost of each product produced. (similar to freight and duty).
In all cases- the amount can change depending on analysis from accounting regarding freight and duty costs (these fluctuate depending on the cost savings we achieve with combined loads and depending on the amount of out of country sourcing), the scrap amount may change periodically depending on the initiatives to reduce scrap on the production floor, etc.
We currently use three activity types, labor, burden and tooling. It is my understanding that there is a limitation in SAP that keeps us limited to 6 activity types.
My questions are:
Are we limited on activity types? these are an option to apply additional costs, but may not be the best option if we want to change the amount applied based on model or apply as a percentage.
Are there other options for applying costs that we can explore? I want to be sure we take into account the various options available before we start down a specific path.

As clarification- we are using standard costing for our raw material. We currently accumulate the incoming freight in a balance sheet account. This is treated as part of our inventory. We have considered using an activity type with a activity added to the BOM to apply the cost to the production order. Then we could use the secondarly cost element data to book an entry to relieve the freight account on the balance sheet.
Because we use standard costing- access to see production order variance is critical and must be maintained in any process we select. We also use COPA reporting- so the costing information must be able to flow to COPA for the specific orders/products/serial numbers.
We are doing make to order (production order / sales order specific combination) but also looking at a make to stock process - so the method to apply costs must take both of these configurations into consideration.
Rajneesh - you mentioned that I am limited to 6 activities in a work center- but does that mean I can have more than 6 activity types in SAP but only 6 activities in a work center/cost center combination?

Tool cost

Dear Gurus,
Here is my scenario. While doing a production of a Product, i want to load Tool cost on that product based on the yield.
with the help of activity i am planning to load this cost. But my problem is not a single tool using to make that product. There are 3 to 5 tools are using to make that product and the cost of that tools are not similar means suppost if i use Tool-1 then Rs.1/- per unit to be load on Prodction order, if Tool- 2 i used Rs.5/- to be loaded.like that...
Pls through some light on this issue..
