Production database version 10.1.0.3 to 10.2
We are planning to upgrade the production database version 10.1.0.3 to 10.2 version.
Please provide the link to download the any standard document related to upgrade the oracle version 10.1.0.3 to 10.2.
You can directly upgrade 10.1.0.3 to 10.2.0.2 by using 10.2.0.2 complete software distribution but not 10.2.0.2 patch set.
10.2.0.2 Patch set requires 10.2.0.1 base release first.
To proceed with the upgrade review instructions from Oracle Database upgrade guide 10.2 from OTN.

For the error "The product version and database version are not compatible", as Emma said, the version number of the Service does not match the database schema version.
In your scenario, which version of database are you using? Please note that MDS update required after SQL 2012 SP1 installation, please refer to the links below to see the details.

Hi,
From the 10.1.2 BI Beans Install Guide it says:
OracleBI Beans supports data stored in Oracle9i Enterprise Edition or Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition. However, only particular releases and patchsets are supported:
* Oracle9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, as follows:
o 9.2.0.6 for all platforms.
o 9.2.0.5 with the latest OLAP patch for Windows-only.
* Oracle Database 10g Release 1 Enterprise Edition with the latest OLAP patch.
From the error message it would appear that the Database is not one of the above.
Thanks,
Lisa

Hi,
Please note that we have follwing versions of DB up and running:-
1)Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
2)Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
With the Partitioning and Real Application Clusters options
JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
Pls let us know the solution to resolve this problem ASAP.
Thanks. You are not using a supported version of the database. BI Beans/OLAP only support the following database versions:
10g - 10.1.0.3 with additional OLAP patch
9i - 9205 with additional OLAP patch
9i - 9206
I would suggest that you have not applied all the required database patches to your instance.
Hope this helps

Multiple database versions in a server
Hi all,
to day i have seen the file cat /etc/oratab like
db1:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.x.x.x/db_1:Y
db2:/u01/app/oracle/product/9.x.x.x/db_1:N
db3:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.x.x.x/db_1:Y
db4:/u01/app/oracle/product/8.x.x.x/db_1:N
here my doubts is how we can install multiple oracle versions in a single server. a server will be having only one version of operating system. suppose like if we assume our os is linux 4.7 we can install only 10g and 11g. but how we can install 8i and 9i database versions.
how all these oracle versions are going to be install in a single server.
please clear my doubts.
thanks a lot...!899329 wrote:

thanks a lot...!Each lives in its own ORACLE_HOME. If, as it seems from your comments, you have no problem with the concept of the 10g and 11g both on the same server, why should the addition of 8.x and 9.x be any different? -
Is there any incompatibility in using different JDBC and Oracle database versions?
Hi everybody,
I hope you can answer me ASAP.
Which version of JDBC driver for Oracle could I use to access an Oracle database version 8.0.4.3.0 running on a SUN machine?
Is it necessary to use the specific driver concerning to that version or could we use the JDBC version 8.1.6?
If we decide to use JDBC 8.1.6 to work against the 8.0.4.3.0 database, will we find any incompatibility or problem?
Thanks.
nullI don't know the answer to your question, but while looking for something else, I found a table listing "requirements and compatibilities for oracle jdbc drivers" that might answer your question:
http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83724/getsta1.htm#1008206
(My aologies if that URL gets broken apart by this posting software and you have to piece it together.)
Hope this helps. -

Changes are not reflected in Staging or Production Database - BCC
Hi,
I changed an asset from product catalog and able to see successful deployment in BCC. But, I am not able to see the changes in Staging or Production database.
I see only changes in Versioned Database.
Did the following things to see if thee is any error but there is no error during this operations.
1) Enabled all the logs for DeploymentManager, DeploymentServer.
2) Ran the CatalogMaintenanceService.
Please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanks,
DKAPAdding to Desai, check for the repository mapping in agents, i.e in your production agent, you need to map the repositories to production repositories. For example ProductCatalog should be mapped to ProductCatalogproduction, similarly in Staging agent as well.
Cheers

Installing Discoverer with Database Version Oracle 10g Express Edition
Hello,
Is it possilbe to install Discoverer with database version Oracle 10g Express Edition? I have Oracle Fusion Middleware 11.1.1.1.0 on my Windows XP machine as well. If so, can someone please provide me a link to the Discoverer download.
Regards,
KellyNote that the Personal Edition of the database is 'the most powerful' version, in that it contains all features and options of the Enterprise Edition (expect RAC and Enterprise Manager packs)
As such, the Personal Edition, at a mere USD$400-500 is one of the most cost effective for-fee products that Oracle has in it's inventory. It is targeted at the developer. And it comes with the complete set of Sample Data, whereas XE has a very limited subset (since it does not support all functionality).
Express Edition is indeed free, but it is not supported, and can not be patched. OTOH it does have a lighter footprint.
Again, I am not sure whether Disco 11g is compatible with Express Edition. (It's on my schedule for December ...) -

Changing database version in the application
Hi
The production site would be changing its database version from oracle 8.1.5 to oracle 8.1.6. Could I please have pointers to documents telling me the changes in the versions; or your expert comments; so that I would know the differences and the effect if any on the application using the database.

Migrating from Test Database to Production Database
Hi,
I have a situation where I created my Portal Pages on test database and now, I want to move everything from test database to my production database. The portal version on both the sites is same (3.0.9.8). I have content areas and applications in my existing test site. What is the best and easiest way to achieve this?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
JatinderHi,
the easiest way is to make an export of the portal schema en import it into you're production database.

In case of Active Data Guard can i run different database versions (11.2.0.3 and 11.2.0.4) at Primary and DR for production environment ? And will having RAC in environment make any difference?
Hi,
>>In case of Active Data Guard can i run different database versions (11.2.0.3 and 11.2.0.4) at Primary and DR for production environment ?
As per normal Data Guard requirement, Oracle 11.2 does support flexibility where Primary and Standby may have different hard wares such as CPU architecture and OS etc. but the Oracle RDBMS software version must be the same. Having said so does not mean it will not support it. Beginning with 11.1.07, a physical standby database can be used to execute a rolling database upgrade to a new Oracle Patch Set or database release by using the transient logical rolling database upgrade process. It means you can have with different database version but for how long, you need to check above documents.. For complete information you should read this note:
Data Guard Support for Heterogeneous Primary and Physical Standbys in Same Data Guard Configuration (Doc ID 413484.1) &
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/availability/maa-wp-11g-transientlogicalrollingu-1-131927.pdf
2) >> And will having RAC in environment make any difference?
NO. You can find answer at - https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e41134/standby.htm#SBYDB4716
**The primary database can be a single instance database or an Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) database. The standby databases can be single instance databases or Oracle RAC databases.

Oracle Database version support
My manager was asking about our plans to upgrade our current Oracle database version (10.1.0.4). We're currently humming along nicely, so I thought that I'd use an Obsolescence Policy as a guide to push us forward. I looked all over Metalink, but this was the only document I could find, which was a hyperlink from another Metalink document, which advertised it as a 10g Product RoadMap:
https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=312470.1
It's not very helpful in that regard, plus it's from Nov 2007. Does anyone have a link to some more current documentation? I really appraciate your help.
