Professional printing of pages newsletter

are there recommendations for online printing methods once I have created a pages newletter?

Welcome to the forums, craig!
What do you mean by "online printing methods"? How many copies will you need printed? What kind of quality do you want?

    welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Test with "other documents": did you use other Pages documents or just any other document?
    Which template did you use for the newsletter?

  • Acrobat Professional 8: How to create a PDF which will print most pages in A4, but some in A3?

    I am very new to Acrobat Professional 8 - Can anyone tell me how to create a basic PDF document to print most pages in A4, but some in A3?
    Currently my document is set up as a binder, do I need to set it up as a PDF package?
    thanks.

    Leonard Rosenthol or anybody that can help, sorry to insist.
    I will explain better my problem:
    I have an ASP.NET WebPAge (C# - 2.0). In this page, the user make a request. The request should generate a PDF document with the informations of the request and with a field to add a digital signature. The document created will be send to a approver that will confirm the approval applying his digital signature (I need to do too, a webpage where the approver open the page, choose the pdf document, and sign, just selecting his own certificate and clicking in the button SIGN... but this is another problem).
    That's the reason that I have to create a PDF document. If I create a WORD or HTML document, and then convert to PDF, how can I add a field to digital signature in this pdf document?
    Is there any solution using Acrobat SDK?
    Thank you very much!

  • Is there a way to create a "Print This Page" link?

    I have a client who want to insert a print this page link that launches their print utility. Is this possible with Muse?

    This is not a function of Muse. You'll need to use the 'insert arbitrary HTML' function to add this.
    Here's where to get the javascript to insert.
    Beware that Muse only produces a generic stylesheet and does not define its specific media type. That means that printing a Muse-generated web page or rendering a Muse website on a mobile device can be extremely messy.  Elements may fall off of a page or may be sized oddly. The Muse showcase shows how the Horace and Lydia site falls apart in print. Elements appear broken and blank pages result.
    Muse developers need to employ semantic markup so that users can design stylesheets for different media types. This topic is related to the frequent requests that Muse should be able to design for mobile devices. Muse just isn't smart enough to do what a professional designer would want.

  • How to Print 4-Pg Newsletter on 11x17 using EPSON WF7510

    I am having difficulty printing a 4 page newsletter in .pdf format on the Epson Work Force 7510 printer.  You would think it would be simple to print four 8.5x11 sheets 2-up on 2-sided 11x17 paper, but I am finding it impossible. I spend 2 hours on the phone with EPSON only for them to tell me it's the application's problem not theirs.  So here I am....
    Currently, i am able to print 2-up, 2-sided on 11x17, but the 8.5x11 pages shrink to 6.5x9 with margins on the outside rim of the 11x17, no margin between the 2 pages.  I do not want the 8.5x11 to shrink, i want the documents to print actual size.  My only solution now is to feed the same 11x17 sheet 4 times printing each page one-at-a-time, hoping I don't mess up on the orientation of the paper.  "Cut me Mick!".
    Anyone that can help, please reply.  Thank you!!!

    Okay.  I believe I've solved the problem!  (as I hear Rocky theme song playing in my head)
    I clicked on Page Setup... and selected 11x17 Paper Size and Source of Paper Cassette and voila, the white margins disappeared and my 8.5x11 sheets were full size!

  • How can I print to HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer?

    Hello to all.
    I have a G3 400 mhz. Blue and White, with Sonnet upgrade to G4 1 gig. Print jobs stopped on HP Photosmart 8750 Professional printer, possibly after upgrading to OS 10.4.10 (printer connected via USB). After reading discussions on this forum, I reset printer system, started from OS disk and repaired permissions and hard drive, ran Tech Tool Pro, did an Archive and Install, downloaded latest drivers from HP, etc. etc.
    Now, in HP Setup Assistant, printer is not listed in window, therefore unable to continue with installation. Printer does not show up in Print and Fax and I cannot add printer, as the driver is never installed. Purchased a new USB 6 ft. cord (only 6 ft. allowed for this printer).
    Have not used it, as I cannot plug it in until printer listed in window and recognized. Upgraded to 10.4.11, hoping it would solve problem. No such luck. Printed a sample page and test page, and printer worked. Please send detailed instructions, listing each step in successive order. Thank you for your efforts to solve this problem.
    Versatile Lady

    10.4.x supports the 8700 printer series and has a driver built in for it.
    It will not hurt the printer to plug it into the computer at anytime. I have the hp Photosmart 3310 and it doesn't give a hoot about this.
    I would do this.
    Do this without the hp installation program.
    Restart the computer,
    restart the printer.
    plug the printer into the mac and see if the mac will find it with these instructions.
    This is Apple's instructions
    1. Disconnect and reconnect every cable between the computer and the printer. Make sure all cables are firmly inserted.
    2. USB printers only: Switch the USB cable connection from the current USB port to another USB port.
    3. USB printers only: Open Apple System Profiler and click the Devices and Volumes tab. If the printer still does not appear, try a different cable.
    4. Try to print again.
    Once the printer connects you may want to install any specific hp stuff off the disk.

  • Printing web pages on Tiger to HP LaserJets results in 79.01FE error

    I'm cross-posting this question on both Apple's and HP's support forums. I've seen a lot of talk about this problem on various forums but no answers... and the answer has to be somewhere in Apple or HP, 'cause it's not a user-based error. I've spent the entirety of today doing extensive testing and checking -- am convinced there's a bug in the system somewhere that's outside of my control. HELP!
    I've sworn by HP LaserJets for years as the pinnacle of laser printer technology... but, lately, I've been swearing at them because of this wretched 79.01FE error. I don't know what the cause of this problem is, but I can say unequivocally that our systems are up-to-date, so I don't think anyone can dismiss this as being fixable by a firmware update, driver udpate or whatnot (short of Apple or HP actually resolving the problem and issuing an update to whatever is causing the problem). Here's our configuration... if you check the specs, I think you'll see that we're entirely up-to-date as of this writing.
    LaserJet 4MV
    * no updatable firmware
    * using JetDirect 25525B card with firmware A.08.49
    LaserJet 4000TN
    * firmware datecode: 980311 MOBY3.65
    * using JetDirect 600N (J3111A) with firmware G.08.49
    LaserJet 5100TN
    * firmware datecode: 20040115 MB8.23
    * using JetDirect 615N (J6057A) with firmware R.25.53
    LaserJet 8150DN
    * firmware datecode: 20041013 MB7.119
    * using JetDirect 610N (J4169A) with firwmare L.25.53
    workstations
    * Mac OS X 10.4.6 with all latest Software Updates
    * Safari 2.0.3
    * Firefox 1.5.0.3
    * LaserJet drivers 5.5.2 (the universal binary set released 04/20/06)
    Printing certain web pages (www.cnn.com is one example) to the 5100TN or 8150DN results in the following error message on the LaserJet display panel, at which point the printer is locked up and has to be power cycled:
    79.01FE
    PRINTER ERROR
    These pages print just fine to the 4MV and 4000TN, as well as to our Canon ColorPASS. I've seen a lot of talk about this error message on the web -- many people suggest that using Firefox is a viable workaround, but it does not work for us. We have a single Mac still running OS X 10.3.9, and it prints these pages without causing the error, as do any of our Windows XP Professional stations.
    As you can see from my specs above, I've made sure all our printer and JetDirect firmwares are up-to-date. Additionally, I've tried using the recently-released universal binary print drivers (I've even deleted the printers from the printer list and recreated them). I've tried pretty much every trick in the book I can think of, and none of them have been successful.
    ONLY Macs running OS X 10.4.x have this problem. So, yes, I know that Apple's software is a factor here. But, as the problem also ONLY occurs with certain LaserJets, then there's an HP connection in there somewhere as well. I find it really odd that the 4MV and 4000TN -- printers that are older than our 5100TN and 8150DN -- do NOT have this problem.
    Does ANYONE have any idea how to workaround this problem, or if HP or Apple has any ideas about the cause and/or permanent fix for this issue? Having to restart our LaserJets multiple times a day is a BIG pain, and causing frustration and downtime for us as a company. I'd really like to see some headway on this issue, which has been plaguing us for months and, in my opinion, is actually occuring more frequently now than ever.

    I'm using the same swear words as you. There are several threads about this problem - no answers.
    I have a LaserJet 8100N and 8150DN, get the 79.01FE error on the 8150 from print outs from Safari, Firefox, and Preview, for only some sites/documents. CNN.com has become my test site, seems I can crash the printer 90% of the time with their home page at any given time in the day.
    A summary of what I have tried:
    - Upgraded the firmware to the latest for both the JetDirect card and the printer.
    - Swapped the JetDirect cards between the 8100 and 8150.
    - Swapped ram on the 8150 board.
    - Disconnected external trays, bins, and removed extra RAM and hard drives from the 8150.
    - Tried setting the JetDirect link and matching switch port link to 100FD, 10HD, 10FD, 100HD, as suggested by a poster.
    - Tried having client's print to the printer through a XServer Print Server.
    - Can consistently create the error from multiple systems running 10.3.9, 10.4.5, and 10.4.6 (didn't have an install base of 10.4 before 10.4.5).
    Someone in the 'know' (which means they're likely not), said 10.4.7 will likely fix this. Being Apple has not even addressed that the problem exists (that I could find), I doubt the magic fix is a release away.
    Apple's software is triggering something that Windows systems appears not to be, so one could say it's an Apple problem; but ulimately it's HP's software/hardware that is at fault in that it is allowing their system to crash from input alone.

    > a PDF/X-1a setting has fixed the problem
    I still have the problem with more simple kinds of PDF: 150 dpi, no PDFX. I can not print multiple pages.
    Furthermore I can not use the option
    "print screen view" (in german language), both affects the
    Reader 8 AND the Acrobat 8: it always only prints the first page of the document without any scaling.
    Finally I can not use the printer
    "Adobe PDF": it results in an endless spool action to that printer.
    Yesterday Acrobat 8 was deinstalled with the
    deinstaller. The
    new installation failed first because of a missing CD. The "AdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0.1All.dmg" could fix the installation problem.
    After successfull re-installation neither before nor after the update to Acrobat 8.1.0 the printing errors mentioned above were solved.
    What can we try next?

    OSX 10.4.10., MacPro1.1, Dual-Core, Intel-Xeon
    Creative Suite CS2 and CS3

    Weird hint: None of our three older G4 (10.4.10, CS3+4, Acrobat 8.1.0) has this printing or any other Acrobat problem. - So, is it even hardware related??

  • Merging to Printer in Pages 09

    I have a 4-page newsletter that includes merge fields for name and address using the Address Book. I need to have it merge to printer, but in Pages '09 both options (to new document or to printer) produce the same result - a new document. Since my newsletter has page numbers, this option won't work. In Pages '08, the merge to printer option works perfectly, creating a separate print document for each Address Book entry, and with the pages numbered correctly.
    I think this must just be a glitch with the software and perhaps Apple can provide an update to the software that will solve the problem.
    My workaround was to save as a Pages '08 document.

    Celia,
    It's not clear to me why you have a problem with page numbers in a document created from a merge. If you set up your original document to "Start at 1" and for each section to "Use Previous Headers and Footers", there should be no page numbering problem regardless of whether you merge to the printer or to a document.

  • Text for Professional Printing

    I am preparing a newsletter that will be sent out for professional printing.  Will Adobe's "Open Face" fonts work or do I need to download post script fonts from somewhere.
    I appreciate your help.

    Open Type Face fonts are cross-platform, they work on both Mac and PC. It's better to use these so that when your file changes hands to different platforms, then the font can be installed and used without hassle (in theory).
    If you use File>export and choose PDF the fonts will be automatically embedded (depending if it's allowed in the EULA of the font, it usually is but some fonts don't allow it). The font embedded in the pdf is for viewing and printing purposes, unless the person on the other end has that font they can't change the text.
    You should send the printers the version of the font that you used anyway, just to be sure. You can use File>Package to collect the fonts you've used. Compress this to a zip folder and send it along with the PDF or the files you're sending to the printer.
    Be sure to include any fonts form EPS files too. As the font won't be embedded in EPS.
    If you're sending a PDF talk to the printers about what the best settings are and how to proceed with making the pdf, including bleeds, colour profiles, etc.

  • OfficeJet 8500 Printer attached to Windows XP system via USB prints partial pages

    I have an OfficeJet 8500 printer stationed at the desk of one of my users and is attached to her Windows XP system with a USB cable.  The printer has started to print partial pages and will not complete a full page of text or images, color or black and white.
    I have attempted to reset the printer by removing power from the printer via the power cord, and holding # and 6 while turning the printer on (after reconnecting the power cord, of course).  The alignment process took place after this procedure, but it has not resolved the issue.
    I have not yet upgraded the firmware from what was installed at the factory.
    What might I do?  What am I missing?  Do I need to upgrade the installed driver on the system?  Is the printer able to be salvaged?  It doesn't appear to be hardware, as the portions which print are perfect; I just don't get the entire page.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    The USB to parrallel cable will work just find if you don't mind plugging in the laptop to the printer when required. If you want to modify Win XP to be able to print to an AppleTalk printer follow the instructions below.
    "To install AppleTalk protocol to Windows XP
    Required files: (Get them from any system running Windows 2000 Professional or Server)
    netatlk.inf, sfmatalk.sys, sfmmon.dll, sfmatmsg.dll, sfmwshat.dll, sfmpsprt.dll
    If they can not be found you need to unhide hidden and system files.
    Copy the files to their respective places:
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\INF\netatlk.inf
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\sfmatalk.sys
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmatmsg.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmmon.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\sfmwshat.dll
    C:WINDOWS(WINNT)\SYSTEM32\SPOOL\PRTPROCS\W32X86\sfmpsprt.dll
    AppleTalk Protocol should now be available under the list of Protocols you can add in Network Connections - Local Area Connections Properties
    This is only good using AppleTalk printers attached to the network. The AppleTalk printer will show up, if it's turned on, under Add Printer-Local printer attached to this computer - create a new port - AppleTalk Printing devices.
    For more info see: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/s agadd_appletalkport.mspx (you do not need to capture the port for the printer to work)
    If you can not get access to these files, make your email address visable in your user profile and I will send them to you."

  • Advice For Someone Using A Professional Printer For The First Time

    Hello everyone
    1. I'm doing some posters and flyers for my club using Pages. We've got them looking how we want on my home inkjet printer but now we need someone to print out large quantities. I've never used a professional print service before. There are simply loads of posts on this topic but I wonder if there is anyone out there that does this a lot and can tell me how they do it. I was hoping to initiate the definitive Professional Printing FAQ thread.
    2. Reading the numerous posts, there are lots of terms that I don't understand like 'bleeds' and 'pantone'. Understandably, print is a whole new world of technical terms. Can anyone recommend a good introduction to all this on the web?
    Thanks

    I don't know of a good basic FAQ for printing, but I can try to address some of your issues.
    What is a "large quantity", IanB? Tens, hundreds, thousands? In my experience this is probably the most critical issue, since it pretty much determines the printing method used (and thus the cost). Anything under about a thousand copies will these days likely be printed "digitally", which essentially means run off on a colour laser printer. In my experience, as long as you are not fanatical about colour accuracy, this method is very forgiving of the way the source file is set up, and most houses will take standard PDFs. It is much more expensive on a per-unit basis than offset printing, but there is also little/no "set up" cost, which means that for short runs it is often far more affordable in terms of total cost.
    Once you get to big runs, where you need offset printing (presses that use metal plates for different colour inks), things change a fair bit, as you have to deal with colour separations and possibly spot (Pantone) colours as well. The setup costs for this kind of printing can be very substantial (making metal plates is expensive), but once set up, the cost per unit is far less than digital printing. If this is your first time out, I'd suggest either avoiding going this route, or finding a very understanding print shop that is willing to hold your hand through the production process.
    As for bleeds, that refers to when objects on your document go all the way to the edge of a page. The problem with using bleeds is that they require the printer to print the page on a larger physical piece of paper, with the bleeding objects slightly over the desired edge, and then trim that paper down to size, cut so that the bleeding section is cut through (to avoid a white unprinted edge). But because the cutting is not always absolutely accurate, you need to leave space between the edge of the page and any material that absolutely has to be on it (e.g., text), so that the trimming will only cut away some of the bleed, but not the critical material.
    Bleeds make setting up (and printing) your document much more complicated, and you will be much better off if you can avoid bleeds for your first experience doing professional printing. If not, I'd again suggest that you shop around for a print house that says they'll be willing to walk you through the process of how to format your document to do this.
    I'm sure others here that are more experienced in the printing process can point you to more comprehensive resources, or give you more detailed advice.
