  • Enhancements on cost center split, profit center split

    Hi All,
What is meant by journal entry conversions, enhancements like profit center split, cost center split?
I have an interview on this requirement, Iam not aware of this.
Could you please give a little idea on these?
    Thanks,
    Kruthi.

You dont have to join them. Keep both profit center and cost centre in the cube. While defining the update rules, derive profit center from cot centre.
In the report , keep profit center and cost centre as free char.
The users can dynamically drill down and view the report for cost centre or profit centre or both.
Another idea is to keep profit centre as a nav attribute in the cube and in that case, you dont have to derive profit centre from cost centre in the update rules.

  • Profit center splitting - Intercompany FB60 - Sales/Use Tax Vendor invoices

We are implementing Use Tax calculations for Vendor invoices and are stuck on an issue with profit center splitting when entering intercompany AP transactions (FB60).     The tax postings of the non-leading company are being split between the two company profit centers.
When posting a vendor invoice with more than one company the tax items of the leading company are posting with the correct profit center but tax items if the non-leading company are splitting between the profit centers of the two companies.   The total amount of the tax is still correct, just part of it is posted to the wrong profit center.
We are assuming this is a document splitting issue but changes to document splitting configuration did not get the desired effect of not splitting the tax accounts.
Are there any suggestions of particular areas of document splitting that we should look into or other areas that might be causing this profit center splitting for the tax items?  Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Murlidhar,
Here's a sample transaction with the problem results we are seeing.  Normal AP transactions are posting fine, it is only when Sales/use tax is added that we are finding a problem with the profit center splitting.
Entering a two line FB60 transaction under company 0001.
    Line 1  - Company 0001, profit center 220020, $100
    Line 2 - Company  0002, profit center 250020, $100
SAP sends this transaction to our external tax system which returns the tax amounts to accrue for each line item.
    Line 1 $7.30 for company 0001
    Line 2 $9.05 for company 0002
When the transaction is then viewed in General Ledger View we see the tax amount of $7.30 posting to profit center 220020 but the tax amount for line 2 of $9.05 is evenly divided between profit centers 220020 and 250020.
The $9.05 should be posting only to profit center 250020 as the profit center assigned to line 2 of the transaction.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • PCA-Partial payment from customer profit center split

    Dear all,
    Problems encountered.
    1) Partial payment from customer whereby the profit center not split accordance to the reference invoice.
    Eg. Received incoming invoice.
    Dr. Customer            RM1000
      Cr. Revenue  (PC:1000)         RM300
      Cr. Revenue  (PC:2000)         RM700
After running Tcode: F.5D (Display the doc. goto Environment--->Balance Sheet Adjustmt)
    Dr. Customer   (PC:1000)         RM300
    Dr. Customer   (PC:2000)         RM700
      Cr. Revenue     (PC:1000)                 RM300
      Cr. Revenue     (PC:2000)                 RM700
Received incoming partial payment RM100 with reference to the above document, the result as follows after running Tcode F.5D
(Display the doc. goto Environment--->Balance Sheet Adjustmt)
    Dr.  Bank     (PC:Dummy)       RM100
Cr.  Customer   (PC:Dummy)   RM100  (As per SAP Help EC-PCA Example: Direct Revenue Posting in FI, Partial payments are distributed according to the original receivable i.e. RM30 to PC1000 & RM70 to PC2000)
    Additional configuration made:
Bank Account is in 3KEH table with default PC:1460
    2) Run Tcode F.5D for the second time in the same month, the result of the payment as follows:
(Display the doc. goto Environment--->Balance Sheet Adjustmt)
    Dr.  Bank     (PC:1460)       RM100
      Cr.  Customer   (PC:1460)   RM100
    Questions:
    1) Why partial payments are not distributed according to the original receivables?
    2) Why the Profit center change to the default PC1460 for the second run? Why such inconsistency happened?
Anyone can answer the above quesstions?
    Thanks & regards,
    -Alice-

    Hi Alice,
Check if you are actually using the tab 'Partial payment' while posting payment to the customer. If you are doing so and activating some invoice, then your customer payment credit line should have 'ivoice reference' field activated. Pl. check this. If this is activated, SAP will get the profit center from original invoice at the time of F.5D. But if you are just posting payment to customer account unapplied (without selecting any particular invoice), SAP can not get profit center from invoice and it will get profit center from the Bank account which is happening in your case.
Hope this helps. We also have similar situation in case of unapplied payments which go to Dummy profit center. I am considering following options:
    1) To enter correct profit center in bank account where ever possible
    or
    2) To post a correction entry in PCA at month end to transfer receivables from dummy to other profit centers on some basis and reverse this entry next month.
How are you handling this dummy profit center situation?
    Thanks,
    Pinky

  • Detailed list per profit center in FAGL_FC_VAL

    Hi,
we are on ECC6 and have a question relating to foreign currency revaluation.
If we run transaction FAGL_FC_VAL the list that is returned shows the document lines, their historic rate, revaluation rate and the amount to be posted. However, this list does not take into account the correct profit center split.
The posting on the other hand does.
How can we get a detailed list that ties the posted amounts per profit center back to the original documents? Or can we get the first list to show us the ledger view rather than the entry view of the documents being revaluated?
    Any help is appreciated!
    Best regards
    Sven

    Hi Sachin,
the question is in fact how can we tie back the postings to the original documents:
e.g. I have 1 custumer invoice. Document number 1 which through document split has received 2 profit centers.
On the first screen 1 get 1 line:
original FX rate          reval FX rate
    document 1 : 100 USD        ,75          75 EUR       ,80     80 EUR       5 EUR exchange rate difference to be posted
If I click on the postings button I see :
debit FX differences    3 EUR profit center 1
credit FX gain               3 EUR profit center 1
debit FX differences    2 EUR profit center 2
credit FX gain               2 EUR profit center 2
We are searching for a list that replaces the first list and looks like:
original FX rate          reval FX rate
    document 1 :  profit center 1 60 USD        ,75          45 EUR       ,80     48 EUR       3 EUR exchange rate difference to be posted
    document 1 :  profit center 2 40 USD        ,75          30 EUR       ,80     32 EUR       2 EUR exchange rate difference to be posted
Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Best regards

  • Segment reporting, split by profit center; still need segment splitting?

    HI experts,
With reference to the subject of this post, I would like to have better understanding on the followings:
Settings (1) IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Financial Accounting Global Settings (New) > Ledgers > Ledger > Assign Scenarios and Customer Fields to Ledgers ... I have settings of <Profit Center Update and Cost Center Update>
    VERSUS
Settings (2) IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > General Ledger Accounting (New) > Business Transactions > Document Splitting > Define Document Splitting Characteristics for General Ledger Accounting ... I have profit center to be split (updated)
My concern, is I want to have segmental reporting.  In the SAP material, it says that segment derived from Profit Center.
My Question:  With the above settings (1) and (2), do I still need to have additional settings for segment?  For example:
Settings (2), do I need to set segment here?
How about settings (1), any need to have <segment update>?
In settings (2), help file says: "This determines what fields in a ledger are updated when it receives posting from other application components."  Not quite sure what this statement mean.
    Thanks and regards,
    sbmel

    Hello,
The actual need of scenarios to be added in every ledger is the need for these objects to be updated in new tables like FAGLFLEXT. If you do not add scenarios then information of cost center, profit center , segment will not be updated in New GL Tables.
Hence it is mandatory to pass entire information related to Cost Centers, Profit Centers and Segment by adding relevant scenarios to all the ledgers activated.
Secondly, segment is such a field that can not only be derived from profit center but also through a BADI using a logic written using ABAP code.

  • Business Area and Profit Center In Document Splitting

    Hi,
We are using Business area and Profit Center characteristics for document splitting.
In one transaction, the Business area and profit centers are defaulted through the cost center.
The document is successfully split in respect of the business area, but the profit center is not filled, thereby giving error while posting.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
Actually, we have all three scenarios, profit center, segment and business area..
As suggested, we have checked all field status relevant.. profit center is optional in all cases..
Now, Pls consider the scenario without business area in document splitting characteristics..
If I post an expense, profit center is picked thru cost center and segment thru profit ctr. The vendor or bank line item inherits the characteristic values from the previous line item.
Now, in addition we have business areas in doc splitting characteristics.
Business area, again is populated thru cost centers, along with profit ctr and segment.
The business area gets correctly populated in the vendor line item.. but the profit center doesnt.
Please let us know the reason..

  • Cost component split transfer for Profit center valuation in ke27

    Dear All,
We have activated multiple valuation/transfer prices. Material ledger is also activated.
We want to transfer cost component split to CO-PA by ke27.
We have defined separate costing keys for access to actual cost estimate for legal and profit center valuations.
But cost component split transfer to COPA works only for legal valution. Even we have defined type of valution for profit center  costing key -transfer cost component split and total costs.
What should be else customized to transfer cost components splitting in profit center valuation to CO-PA from actual cost estimates?
    With best regards,
    Kamila.

    Hi,
I have assigned the same value fields used for legal valuation to column 2, which was pointed in message.
But now I got following message in ke27:
For actual data, value fields that were already populated before CO-PA valuation cannot be changed in valuation.
    1. As a rule, value fields that were filled before CO-PA valuation - be it from SD or by a manual entry of a line item - can only be changed by means of user exits.
(Note that for plan data, CO-PA valuation always has priority over the values planned manually.)
    2. The valuation steps in a CO-PA valuation strategy are numbered sequentially. These numbers determine the order in which the steps are carried out within that strategy. As a rule, value fields populated in one step can be used as a basis for calculating values for other value fields in a subsequent step.
Value fields that were populated in a previous step are generally not overwritten by subsequent steps.
The exception to this are steps that use a CO-PA user exit. User exits let you change individual value fields.
    3. If you valuate using multiple material cost estimates simultaneously, this means that the values of different cost components within the same cost estimate are aggregated and then entered in one CO-PA value field. However, value fields that already contain data from a previous cost estimate are not overwritten by a later cost estimate. Consequently, you should assign value fields in Customizing so that the values of different cost estimates are entered in different sets of value fields.
    4. When condition values are transferred to CO-PA value fields, note that condition types that are assigned to the same value field are added together. This is also the case when the condition types come from different costing sheets within the valuation strategy.
So does it mean we should define separate value fields for PC valuation?
    With best regards,
    Kamila.

  • Document Splitting Profit center not filled in.

    Hi All,
I wanted to check one scenario:
I have document splitting activated on profit center field.
I am trying to post a document as under:
Line items as in <<<<entry view>>>>>
Expense    Act     Dr  100         (CC1) (assigned to PC1)
Expense    Act     Dr   200        (CC1) (assigned to PC1)
Expense    Act     Dr  300         (CC2) (assigned to PC2)
Balance sht Act   Cr  400         (PC1)
Balance sht Act   Cr   500        (PC1)
              To Vendor Act     Cr   1500
When I am posting this transaction system is giving me a error as Balancing field PC not filled in document splitting.
My doubt is whether this error is correct in given scenario or can we determine a different profit center for the vendor line item in GL view in the given scenario.
I already have defined a clearing account for document splitting.
Your comments /feedback are highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sameer

i have doubt in your balance sheet items, what is that items are meant for?
Elaborate the scenario so that help us to answer to your question.

  • New GL - Doc Splitting - Profit Center not hitting the Zero Balance GL

    Dear SAP New GL Gurus,
I am trying to activate the doc splitting where the system uses a GL Account to ensure that Profit Center wise Trial Balances are tallied.
I have done the following configuration till now, and I feel that these steps should ideally split the doc and post the PCA Adjustment Account Entry - I think its the Zero Balance Clearing account that the system should ideally be using.
I am not sure what I am missing here - This is what is done till now:
    1. Activated Document Splitting - Used Standard Method 0000000012.
    2. Classified GL Accounts for Doc Splitting as per standard SAP categories.
    3. Classify Doc Types with assignments of Transaction and Variant. Done as per standard, no changes made.
    4. Defined Zero Balance Clearing Account.
    5. Define Document Splitting Characteristics for General Ledger Accounting - Made Profit Center field as Mandatory
    6. Define Document Splitting Characteristics for Controlling - Left it BLANK as Point No. 5 is done for GL Accounting.
    7. Define Post-Capitalization of Cash Discount to Assets - Ignored
    8. Edit Constants for Nonassigned Processes - Ignored
Under Real-Time Integration of Controlling with Financial Accounting:
    1. Standard variant 0001 used.
    2. Assigned 0001 variant on the Co Code.
    3. Define Rules for Selecting CO Line Items - Ignored
    4. Define Account Determination for Real-Time Integration - Ignored
Accouting Entry posted by me - Both lines are Balance Sheet items:
DR     Bank GL     Profit Center X
CR     Bank GL     Profit Center Y
    Please help me out here.
    I will assign full points.
    Many Thanks
    Bob

    Hi,
Yes. Very much. you need to assign scenarios even if you are using leading ledger.
In any enty there will be minimum two views, Entry view and Ledger View
    Ex.
    Entry view
Account    Amt    A/c Assig objects - Profit Center
    Customer  400
    Sale A/c  -400                                     2000
    Gl View
Account                    Amt    A/c Assig objects - Profit Center
    Customer Recon A/c  400
    Sale A/c                   -400                                     2000
If you dont assign Profit center in the scenario to the leading ledger, in gl view you will not be able to see profit center against the sales line item
    Assign points if useful

  • DOC Splitting in New GL and Profit center accounting activation

    Dear All,
I am in a dilemma regarding the following -
We are activating doc splitting with profit center and segment as characteristics.
    1) While maintaining Controlling area settings(OKKP) - do we need to activate "Profit Center Accounting" component?
    2) Similarly, in IMG-Controlling - Profit Center Accounting- Basic Settings-Controlling Area Settings-Maintain Controlling Area Settings (0ke5), do we need to maintain any settings?
I am of the opinion that ,based on the SAP Note - 826357, that we need not activate PC accounting as it is built into New GL Accounting.
I am also of the opinion, again based on the note, that we can use classic PC accounting, but the note recommends and I quote
we do not recommend you do this on a long-term basis due to the increased data volume and the increased time and effort required, and in the case of active document splitting, the update response changes.
But I am not able to come to a conclusion.
In earlier  implementations, I activated PC accounting in OKK5 in New GL doc split scenario. So keeping that in mind, pl guide me.
    Thanks & regards,
    Gov

    Hi
Please set the Profit Center Accounting with Controlling Area.
SPRO->CONTROLLING-->PROFIT CENTER ACCOUNTING -->CONTROLLING AREA SETTING -->MAINTAIN CONTROLLING AREA

  • OKB9 does not work to derive a Profit Center from Document splitting

    Hi GL Gurus,
I am trying receive customer payment with payment difference. Original invoice has two Profit centers so Customer line items have these 2 PCs derived by Doc splitting. I have defined Document splitting characteristic as Profit Center in General Ledger and In Controlling as Cost center. While posting Customer payment with payment difference , It gives me error that CO object does not exist. I have done OKB9 assignement to the above 2 profit centers but it still does not derive a Cost center.
Do you know how to resolve this error?
    Thanks in Advance!

I have done OBXL and then OKB9. In OKB9 you have feature as "Mandatory fields for detailed account assignments.Field for specifying detailed account assignments." Here you can define for a Cost element/by Profit center assignment and then to a Cost Center. This works when you have a Cost element/Profit Center combination. But the situation above it does not read the PC derived in Customer line item.
The issue is OKB9 does not Read the Profit Center when it is derived by Document splitting/Inheritance.
Is there a solution to do this?

  • 3.Tax Report - Splitted by Profit Center

    Hi Colleagues,
    My customer has following problem.
They have a vendor and customer invoice posted to more profit centers, but in the tax report the firts Profit centers wehre the document is posted is only visable?
Do they need to activate a New GL (document splitt) in order to get a tax reports splitted by Profit centers.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Slavisa Lecic

    Hi Ashish,
If you have hierarchy node like "ALL" which have all the base members of Account and there is no data for other combination.
    Ex - Combination of Profit Center A with Accounts 100001 - 100010, 420000, 430000 etc.
    Combination of Profit Center B with Accounts 100001 - 100010, 520000, 530000 etc.
In this case if there is no data for combination of Profit Center A and Account 520000, 530000 etc.
and Profit Center B and Account 420000, 430000
then you can use hierarchy node.

  • A/R balance report by Customer by Profit center (Document split activated)

    Dear New-GL gurus
    I activate New-GL splitting.
For clearing, it seems clearing will be done by not split profit center level.
Thus, if I’d like to see “A/R balance by Customer by Profit center”, I cannot see.
(In BSID or BSAD, profit center is blank, but in faglflexa, profit center is entered by document split)
Is there any report to see it?
    Yoshi

    Hi Yoshi,
Use mentioned report where you can see PC wise outstanding
