Program execution time

Hi all,
i have created a report which inlclude posting dates. if i enter the period of 1 year it takes abt 3 mins. to execute it, as i tried the same in table from where the data comes ,  the table is aslo taking almost same time but it will not do, so just plzz tel me that is there any tips or trick so that i can reduce this execution time..??
thanx..

  • Anybody experience difference in Labview program execution time on Asian Windows O/S?

I have written a Labview Program that uses GPIB to control an Agilent Spectrum Analyzer and Power Meter. It communicates with and controls the D.U.T. via Telnet. It was debugged here in Massachusetts under Windows 2000. Here the test takes ~ 43 seconds. In Thailand on an equivalent computer running Windows 2000 (Thai) the same test takes ~ 66 seconds. Time is measured by capturing start time and stop time from the O/S. Any clues to account for the difference? The time differential is the same in the development environment and the distribution environment.

Suggest you break the test down to its individual steps to see which part o

the test is changed. You may even find that it is the test equipment that
    is taking longer.

  • Execution time increase

    hai  guys,
Im currently developing a code that run 24 hours 7 days a week. My problem is the execution time increases as days pass by. As im tracing down the execution time ,the 1st day i start the to run the program execution time is 0.04 second but after 3 day it increases to 4.5 seconds .
then i indually tracked down the subvi that causing problem and find out that the problem is on writing to ini file.
The subvi function is to REPLACE the data (20 data )in a file every 10 second*not accumulating data just replace the old data  . I open file replace data and close file every itteration and as day pass the execution time for this subvi increases.
Can any one help me to get a solution for the problem as time is a very important factor in my programming. the execution time is limited for less that 10 second.
    thanks
    regards
    kokula

As David said, post the code.
Is there any reason why your are loggin to an .ini file?  Does that mean you are using the LabVIEW config file functions?
I don't know if deallocating memory would help, or is even possible, without seeing your code.  You either have a problem with resources continuously being created, but not being closed out.  Or you have an ever growing array.  This takes more memory over time, and slows down the code because LabVIEW has to move memory around to account for the ever larger array.
I bet if you let your program run long enough, it would eventually crash due to running out of memory.
By the way 47MB to 350 MB of memory consumption means the same thing as RAM usage increasing.

  • How to extend the execution time of an ABAP Program using the Process chain

    Hello Sapians,
Our Environment has got 600seconds = 10 mintues as the execution time.
My ABAP Program is taking more than this 600 seconds, to show the result, I found this when I tried to execute in debug mode, it shows the result.
If I execute in background also it shows the results succesfully.
Only issue is when I execute this report in foreground it has been taking ages and goes on Time OUT Error.
It has been decided that we can extend the execution time only for this report, and it will reset the time back to 10mintues once the report has been executed successfully or failed in between for any other reasons.
And we can achieve this by using the process chains.
Can any body help me please in this regard
    Thanks,

    Hi,,,,,,,,,,
Besides Process Chain There is another way out for this........
Resetting time counter of dialog process so that time-out does not
happen. Use this fm within your program at appropriate locations to
    reset time counter.

  • Execution time of same program makes big difference

    Hello all,
The execution time of same program in PRD system and QAS system makes big difference.
The difference of data is not much(as system copy was run on a regular time schedule. And the system enviroments are exactly the same. However, while the program only cost 2-3 seconds in QAS, it cost 7-8 minutes in PRD.
It only happens when trying to join some tables together.
I've checked the execution plans of same search, they are different:

  • Ideal execution time for any program

    Hi,
Is there any method to determine the ideal execution time for a program ?
Or else how to determine that ?
I just wanted the max. time that a program can take so that the performance would not be hampered.
    Thanks,
    Binay.

did you ask for the 'ideal execution time' or 'how to measure execution times'?
The second question was answered in one of your other questions.
    Optimization:
Do SQL Trace, go to Summary by SQL statement, check 10 Top contributions (time = duration).
Try to optimize them, note minimal time per record, if larger than 10.000 microsecodns, then you should index usage.
Do SE30, go to hit list, sort by net time, again address 10 Top contributions, try to optimize, check the coding.
Do optimization and trace again, check again 10 Top contributions ....

is there any way to know execution time of a  c program on Xcode ?

If it is a command line tool and you just what the total time do as tony wrote,
If you need to run it from Xcode or are looking for more detail you can use the Instruments package. Select Product->Profile then select Time Profiler.

    Hi Pepe
You cannot say which is faster, the LV or the C programm. The only way to be sure is to program in both environments and to check than. Check this for some benchmark examples:

    I need to know
    1) How to find out the last execution time of the function module ?
say for eg. I have executed a func. module at 1:39pm. How to retrieve this time  (1:39pm)
    2) I have created 3 billing document in tcode VF01 i.e 3 billing doucment no. would be created in SAP TABLE "VBRP" b/w 12am to 12:30 am.
How to capture the latest SAP database update b/w time intervals?
    3) Suppose I am downloading TXT file using "GUI_DOWNLOAD" and say in 20th record some error has happened. I can capture the error using the exception.
Is it possible to run the program once again from 21st records ? All this will be running in background...
    Kindly clarify....
    Points will be rewarded
    Thanks in advance

1.Use tcode STAT input as Tcode of Fm and execute .
    2. See the billing documents are created in table VBRk header and there will always be Creation date and time.
VBRk-Erdat "date ., u can check the time field also
So now if u talk the date and time we can filter then display the records in intervals.
    3. with an error exeption how is my txt download finished .
once exception is raised there will not be a download .
    regards,
    vijay

  • Program execution during RIMODAC2..will it  always reach to cif user exit

    Hello ,
We are implementing cif user exit for Purchase Order at R3 side to capture additional date field. So logic to capture additional date field is put in user exit CIFPUR01. We have  RIMODAC2  background job for Purchase order running on daily basis.
if there is no change in standard Purchase Order objects. When RIMODAC2 is executed  for purchase order Integration models ..will  program execution still always reach to R3  user exit part of the program irrespective of if  any change in standard purchase order object has happened or not.
    Will appreciate your answer.
    Thank you
    Best Regards
    Nilesh Patil

    Nilesh,
I am no longer sure I understand the question.
RIMODAC2 activates the model.  Once a model is activated, if someone changes certain specific fields in an R/3 object, then these changes are sent to SCM, either immediately or via change pointers.  All this happens irrespective of IM userexits.
If this same field in this same object is changed in R/3, and a userexit also has been implemented, the  userexit will execute according to its design,  performing whatever task it has been programmed to do.
If you create and implement a userexit, it begins working at that moment in time that it is installed.  Data that flowed across 'yesterday' to SCM is not affected.  Data that flows across 'tomorrow' will be affected.  Data in R/3 will usually only flow across to SCM if there is some kind of triggering event, usually a database 'change' transaction (e.g., ME22N for POs) The mere act of installing a userexit will not generally affect existing data on either side.  The userexit only affects data that flows across the IM. Unchanged records in the R/3 database will generally not be sent to SCM by the IM, and will not be subject to userexit processing.
It is not generally the responsibility of a functional consultant to explain the workings of a userexit to a technical consultant.  It is enough that the functional identifies the userexit, and specifies the business requirement in as much detail as possible.  The developer is then responsible for carrying out the coding.  Technicals are generally expected to be competent enough to determine from the userexit docs, and from the surrounding code, how a userexit works.  They can also raise a message to SAP.  In the end, it is all just ABAP, although userexit implementations can be quite challenging. SAP seldom provides enough details in their documentation.   Once the Technical has finalized the code, Functional and Technical together then perform unit testing, before passing the mods to users for integration testing.
If your client's coders are unable to manage the task, perhaps they should engage your company to provide technical expertise, as well as functional expertise.

  • Execution Times of Stored Procedures Called from Other Stored Procedures

If I execute sys.dm_exec_procedure_stats, it will produce execution times of my stored procedures executed recently.
However, stored procedures called from other stored procedures do not show up.
Is there code that can return the execution times of stored procedures even though they are called from other stored procedures.

Look at the example. It is counting nested execution.

    CREATE PROC z2SP AS SELECT * FROM Production.Product WHERE Color is not null; EXEC z1SP;

  • Different execution times for back ground jobs - why?

We have few jobs scheduled and each time they run, we see a different execution times. Some times, it increases and some times it decreases steeply . What could be the reasons?
    Note:
    1. We have the same load of jobs on the system in all the cases.
    2. We haven't changed any settings at system level.
    3. Data is more or less at the same range in all the executions.
    4. We mainly run these jobs
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Thank you Sandra.
We have no RFC calls or other instances. Ours is a very simple system. We have two monster jobs, the first one for HR dataand second an extract program to update a Z table for BW loads.
Our basis and admin confirmed that there are no network issues
Note: We are executing these jobs over the weekend nights.
    Thanks,

  • Long execution times for TestStand conditional statements

I have two test stations – one here, one at the factory in China that has been operating for about a year. The test program uses TestStand 3.1 and calls primarily dll's developed using CVI. Up until a couple months ago, both test stations performed in a similar manner, then the computer at the factory died and was replaced with a new, faster computer. Now the same test sequence at the factory take three times as long to execute (30 min at the facotry, 10min here).
I have recoded the execution time at various point during the execution, and have found that the extra times seems to be occurring during the evaluation of conditional statements in TestStand (i.e. for loops, if statements, case statements). For example, one particular ‘for’ evaluation takes 30 ms on the test station here, but takes 400 ms at the test station at the factory (note: this is just the evaluation of the for condition, not the execution of the steps contained within the for loop).
The actual dll calls seem to be slightly faster with the new computer.
Also the ‘Module Times’ reported don’t seem to match the actual time for the module for the computer at the factory. For example, for the following piece of TestStand code:
    Label1
    Subsequence Call
    Label2
I record the execution time to the report text in both Label1 and Label2. Subtracting one from the other gives me about 18 seconds. However the ‘Module Time’ recorded for ‘Subsequence Call’ is only 3.43 seconds.
Any body have any ideas why the long execution time with the new computer? I always setup the computers in exactly the same way, but maybe there is a TestStand setting somewhere that I have missed? Keep in mind, both test stations are running exactly the same revision of code.

Got some more results from the factory this morning:
    1) Task Manager shows that the TestExec.exe is the only thing using CPU to any significant degree. Also CPU Usage History show that the CPU Usage never reaches 100%.
    2) I sent a new test program that will log test execution time in more places. Longer execution times are seen in nearly every area of the program, but one area where this is very dramatic is the time taken to return from one particular subsequence call. In this subsequence I log the time just before the <End Group> at then end of Main. There is nothing in Cleanup. I then log the time immediately after returning from this sequence. On the test system I have here this takes approximately 160 ms. On the test system at the factory this takes approximately 14.5 seconds! The program seems to be hanging here for some reason. Every time this function is called the same thing happens and for the same amount of time (and this function is called about 40 times in the test program, so this is kill me).
