Program runs on Win 7 but not 8.1

I've raised this issue twice in the last 2 - 3 weeks without a solution. I'm developing a desktop application using VS 2013, MFC & native C/C++. I can build a simple skeleton program with just the xxxApp, MainFrame and ChildView that runs just
fine on W7 & 8.1. This is an X86 application using the Static MFC library.
But when I build the application, it will not run on W 8.1 though it runs just fine on W7. I've run Code Analysis and fixed all reported problems. The application will not even start on W 8.1.
I need help or guidance.

This problem is still not solved.
When running on WIN 7 under VS2013 debugger, I see an Access Violation Error "First-chance exception at 0x00C11638
in BmateSatCMMS.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xBAADF079" I CMainFrame when (if (!m_wndView.Create ... os executed. When running on WIN 8.2, only the Windows Explored flashes when starting the program.

How about if you add some crash dump code in your app to know the exact reason of your issue and then use some dump utility for example windlg etc to analyze it.

BUT when i produce jar file , generated jar file does not work [GUI appear but can not get ports on PC]
- I try to set Environment Variable as next :

also does not work
any tip please ?

First of all, leave the lib and jre/lib directories of the JRE alone. Never ever touch them again. Remove any jars you have put there yourself, or better yet completely remove and reinstall the JRE to make sure you put it back in a correct state.
After you do that, learn how to properly work with the classpath in both the IDE and the command line.
Netbeans: you define the classpath by adding jars to the project (right click on the libraries node in the project tree to get the appropriate options).
Command line: this depends on if you run a single class, or you invoke an executable jar.
Single class: you use the -cp command line switch to define the classpath
Executable jar: the jar itself defines the classpath in its META-INF/manifest.mf file. The -cp command line switch is ignored.
Since you use Netbeans, you'll get an executable jar so make sure to learn how such a jar is structured.

I'm testing 32bit software that will run in 7-64 Pro but will not in win 7 home premium or vista.
The 7-64 Pro machine is NOT running the program in XP mode although is is being run as admin. The 7 home premium and vista beta testers have tried every work around/mode, admin mode, and anti-virus exception. I've run process explorer & WinMerge to evaluate
the differences between os operations & dlls loaded but am unable to find the OS issue.
Currently 2-win7-64 machines, 1 vista machine and 1 win 7 machine had no issues with the program as it started up and ran immediately.
After 3 beta's 30 hours of testing & 50 of my own, I believe I've narrowed the issue down to the win 7 home premium and vista os's.
Can anyone here suggest other ways to further narrow it down so as to provide functionality on all 3 os's?

You can check you Adobe account online to see if the serial number is registered under your account. If not then your only option will likely be to contact Adobe Support directly thru chat to see if they can provide you with a/the serial number. For them to do so will require you being able to prove ownership.

I have developed a GUI application using NetBeans. All source code files are compiling without problems and the program runs just fine when i press "run <app name>" in NetBeans. However, when i try to execute the jar file using the command "java -jar <name of jar>", then i get this error message (im standing in the same directory as the jar file which is the dist directory:

Does someone know why i am getting this error ? I would be nice to find out. I have also tried to go into the src directory of the netbeans project and compile all files there which works fine, but when i try to run the program with "java <file that contains main method>" i get this error:

I have JDK and JRE installed on the system (it came with netbeans). I have tried setting the JAVA_HOME variable, but there is no difference. Anyone? Thanks for all help.

Hmm, i solved the problem now. I looked at this problem yesterday and couldnt find out why i was getting these stack traces, but now i know :)

Query running in Quality but not in Production

Hi Folks,
we are running a query AQICSDUSERS=====MOVEMENTLIST4= which used to get executed previously,but all of a sudden now after running for an hour or so it is coming back to sap easy access screen without displaying the report.It is running and giving the report in Quality but not in Production.
What could be the reason?

How to create a shortcut to a windows program running in wine

I can open a windows application in wine by entering command in Terminal.
I would like to create a "shortcut" to do this that is effectively an application and can either live on the desktop, dock or apps menu
The commands I enter in Terminal are
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/<<program folder name>>
wine <<program name>>.exe
I am running Yosemite on a MacBook Air

USB Works in BootCamp+Win But Not in MacOS X !!!

My MP4 player, HSDPA modem built-in drive, and USB pen are not recognized by the Mac OS X 10.4.10 ver.1.1. The devices do appear in System Profile and USB Probe, but not mounted in Finder. The same devices show up in Windows as local drives when it runs with BootCamp!
Anyone can help please?

Which MBP model do you have? Did you upgrade to 10.4.10 or is this the version that was pre-installed? If you upgraded to 10.4.10, then I recommend downgrading to 10.4.9 by doing an Archive and Install:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

User Exit that will allow the SAP program to create DN, but not create IDO

The requirement is when we select 1 PO in VL10g transaction and click the u201CBackgroundu201D button, the user exit will allow the SAP program to create Delivery Number, but not create IDOC for the Delivery Number to send it to warehouse system. Also the created Delivery Number must be in changeable mode in ECC system .I need to find any exit to make the DN table field LIKP-VLSTK not to be u201CBu201D (distributed). The B will make DN not changeable in ECC system which is hard coded value in standard program. so the DN should be changeable.
Please suggest me the User Exit name which serves my purpose.

Locale Currency symbol present in Win but not Linux

I am trying to get the currency symbol for the locale en_NZ (English, New Zealand), which is '$'. However, it works on Windows, but not on Linux. On linux it returns "NZD" which basically means it did not find the symbol for the locale. I am using 1.4.0 on both linux and windows, I even tried overwriting jdk/jre/lib/ext/localdata.jar on the linux system with the one on the windows system, and it still doenst find the symbol.
I have also iterated through all available locales for both the linux and Win JREs, and en_NZ is available.
Has anyone come across this problem?

It doesnt work. well, it works, but the Symbol is not found. Not on Linux. And the AU symbol is not fuond on Windows when it is on linux. Very annoying really.
I have quite alot of experience with i18n, and cant see why this wouldnt be found. the libraries are available, but not returning the currect data for some reason.
Try both of these.

Non-UB runs on Intel but not as plugin?

I was under the impression that AU was the requisite format to run a plugin within Logic and universal binary was additionally required for anything to run on Intel macs. Zero-G Vocal Forge is stated as being AU but not necessarily UB. The stand alone version works fine on my Intel iMac however, the plugin does not show up in my Logic 8 or Ableton Live 6 plugin menus. I tried the AU scanner in Logic to no avail. The component does show up in the correct folder. I thought that if something wasn't UB, it just wouldn't run at all on an intel Mac but it runs fine, just not as a plugin. I wouldn't even bother asking, except that the stand alone is operational. Will I have to wait for UB, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks. - Emile

Hi,
The reason the Stand=Alone version of your plugin works, is that under an Intel mac, there is a shell, called "Rosetta". What this does, is that when you open a non-Intel, or non-Universal Binary version of a software, the computer tries to open it, and runs it inside the Rosetta shell. This is not a very efficient way of running software, but it allows you to open things that are not yet Universal Binaries.
The Audio Unit portion of your plugin, is NOT Universal binary, and because it is not, it does not show up when you open Logic, which IS Universal binary. Logic is not being run under the Rosetta shell, because it does not need to.
If you want to use it as a Plugin-In inside of Logic, you will have to wait until the company releases a UB version.

Semantics of running with DB_INIT_TXN but not DB_INIT_LOCK

What are the semantics of enabling the logging and transactional subsystems, but not the locking subsystem? Ideally this would give the write ahead logging properties of running with transactions, but no isolation or atomicity guarantees. Is this, in fact, what will happen, or will this configuration lead to something else?

I'm not totally clear here though, does BDB provide isolation and atomicity guarantees even if I don't enable the locking subsystem? No exaclty. BDB provides those guarantees to ensure that every single method in the API works well. But it doesn't take care of concurrency control for your own application. I guess it might help you understand better if you refer to http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/ref/lock/intro.html.
That seems odd as it would have to be using some internal locking system for that. What I'd like is for BDB to provide me write ahead logging but no concurrency control and I'll provide my own concurrency control above BDB so I can ensure that only one thread will be reading/writing a key at the same time. Does DB_INIT_TXN, DB_INIT_LOG give me that?Yes, you could use DB_INIT_TXN, DB_INIT_LOG and write your own concurrency control.
