Programmatic read access to applet console trace level

Is there any apis for getting the current trace level setting of the applet java console?

thanks for the info.
But as a user I would find it confusing, especially as that would mean to see traces from your applet I would have to turn on, and see, traces from the JVM mixed in with them.I'm surprised others don't use System.out.println, or e.printStackTrace in their applet code. Is that not common? It irritates me to know end that i'm not allowed (by the company) to have them there. So a problem occurs at a customer site, and there's no way to know what happened. So i was able to talk them into emitting important stuff as long as the user consciously set the trace level up, something a normal person would never do, most likely.
So how do other people log information from applets? I can't imagine you're actually logging errors to the filesystem? sending them back to the server? seems hard to believe anyone would do that?

  • Programmatic read access to (conditional disable) symbols in project

    Hi,
I'm wondering if there's a way to achieve programmatic way to achieve a read access to the symbols defined within a project apart from the conditional disable structure? I have tried access via VI server, but haven't succeeded
For me, it would be a nice way of passing certain enviroment settings....
    Thanks a lot!

Programming languages don't create bad code, programmers create bad code....

Unfortunately there is no other way to access the symbols via VI server. It is not possible to edit these symbols at runtime in general, which would not make sense, because these symbols are ment to give the user the opportunity to do conditional compiling, and so the state of these symbols needs to be set BEFORE the VI is compiled/started.
You could accress the value of these symbols, by reading the .lvproj File directly. The .lvproj files are XML-Files, and there is a item called
<Property Name="CCSymbols" Type="Str"> .XXX.</Property>  in the XML File. The XXX stands for the name and value of a symbol.
You could use File I/O functions to access these values.
    Hope this helps!

I know this is an old thread, but I'm betting that more people will want to know how to do this, and it's not all that intuitive.  I wrote a VI that gets symbols for the project itself, or for a target within the project, including "My Computer."  I haven't written a VI to set symbols yet, but it's the same idea except that you'd use the "Set Tag" method instead of "Get Tag."
This one is in LabVIEW 8.6.1, just because that's what I'm using today.  (Sorry, no LabVIEW 2009 snippet)

  • Accessing trace level or logging flag from applet

I need to do some performance tracking related logging from my applet. It will be decided at runtime whether the applet should perform logging or not. The logging should work for java plugin 1.4.x.
The java plugin console provides the facility to set trace level and enable / disable logging. Is there some way I can access these values from my applet? Is it possible to access the PluginLogger from my applet ?

    Thanks for the reply.
If I set a runtime parameter on the Java Plug-in Control Panel, I need to access it through my applet.
I am not able to figure out how to access the runtime parameters from my applet.

  • Read only access for bpel console in SOA Suite 10.1.3.5.1(weblogic)

    Hi
For SOA Suite 10.1.3.5.1 on weblogic, Is there any way to restrict certain users to some pages in bpel console.. e.g. read only access to bpel console.
I have found articles on web regarding this but they all are for SOA Suite 10.1.3.3 (and 3.4) on Oracle app server. Article provides a hack by using servlet filters.
How to do a similar thing in SOA Suite 10.1.3.5.1 on weblogic ?
Can somebody provide step by step instructions?
    Thanks

    Hi James,
I have already seen this link and several refined versions of it but it wont work for weblogic. For example
There is no j2ee/oc4j_soa/applications/orabpel/console directory (i looked into home directory as well but could not found orabpel/console dir).
So question is where to put filter class and how to make changes in web.xml as this file is not present in j2ee/oc4j_soa/applications/orabpel/console/WEB-INF/
I checked deployments in weblogic admin console and seems BPELConsole is deployed as a module under BPELPM ear.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.

  • Unable to set trace level

    Hello,
I have a problem with the trace level (by trace level I mean this one: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/deployment/deployment-guide/tracing_logging.html) in the Java Console when deploying a Java Applet.
With "Next Generation Java Plugin" (JPI >= 1.6.0_10) disabled I am able to set a trace level (0-5) in the java console; if it is enabled I am not able to set a trace level. The Problem is: it seems all outputs written to the Java Console seem to be added to one string, so if there are many trace messages in the java console you'll get a OutOfMemoryException.
And to make things even better: with JPI 1.6U19 and U20 I am not even able to disable the "Next Generation Java Plugin" (well theoretically I am but it seems to ignore my settings).
Also adding Applet Parameters (-Djavaplugin.trace=false -Djavaplugin.trace.option=off) for setting tracelevels has no effect, I get trace messages for loading resources etc. in the java console (Stating "image loaded: jar:http://what.ever.else/some.jar!some.image").
I tested with various Java Plugins (1.6U17, U19 and U20) and various Browsers (IE6 and Firefox 3.5) on WinXP SP2 with no difference.
Does anybody have a clue how to turn off this tracing permanently as it fills up my heap?!?
    cheers
    Christian

Where exactely did you change the localisation to US and has this to be done on every client running the web interface or just the server it's running on?

  • Configure Read-Acces via user-defined privilege level

    Hello everybody,
I´m looking for the best configuration to restrict a user to read-only. The restriction should be configured via CLI not TACACS+.
Hardware: 3750 (probably not interesting for this question)
    Oldest IOS: 12.2(53)SE1
The user should be allowed to:
    see the running-configuration
    trigger all kinds of show-commands
ping and traceroute from the device
The user should not be allowed to:
    upload/delete/rename files on the flash-memory
get into level 15 (not sure if I can avoid this)
all other commands despite those from level 1 and those specified above
Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance!
I won´t forget to rate helpful posts

    Hi Tobias,
    You can
configure  Multiple Privilege Levels  on a switch as explained below.
By default, the Cisco IOS software has two modes of password security: user EXEC and
privileged EXEC. You can configure up to 16 hierarchical levels of commands for each mode.
By configuring multiple passwords, you can allow different sets of users to have access to
    specified commands.
For example, if you want many users to have access to the clear line command, you can
assign it level 2 security and distribute the level 2 password fairly widely. But if you
want more restricted access to the configure command, you can assign it level 3 security
and distribute that password to a more restricted group of users.
Setting the Privilege Level for a Command
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to set the privilege level for a
    command mode:
         Command  Purpose
          Step 1
         configure terminal
         Enter global configuration mode.
          Step 2
         privilege mode level level command
Set the privilege level for a command.
For mode, enter configure for global configuration mode, exec for EXEC mode, interface
for interface configuration mode, or line for line configuration mode.
For level, the range is from 0 to 15. Level 1 is for normal user EXEC mode privileges.
Level 15 is the level of access permitted by the enable password.
For command, specify the command to which you want to restrict access.
          Step 3
         enable password level level password
Specify the enable password for the privilege level.
.For level, the range is from 0 to 15. Level 1 is for normal user EXEC mode privileges.
For password, specify a string from 1 to 25 alphanumeric characters. The string cannot
start with a number, is case sensitive, and allows spaces but ignores leading spaces. By
    default, no password is defined.
          Step 4
         end
         Return to privileged EXEC mode.
          Step 5
         show running-config
         or
          show privilege
         Verify your entries.
The first command shows the password and access level configuration. The second command
    shows the privilege level configuration.
          Step 6
         copy running-config startup-config
(Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
When you set a command to a privilege level, all commands whose syntax is a subset of that
command are also set to that level. For example, if you set the show ip traffic command to
level 15, the show commands and show ip commands are automatically set to privilege level
15 unless you set them individually to different levels.
To return to the default privilege for a given command, use the no privilege mode level
    level command global configuration command.
This example shows how to set the configure command to privilege level 14 and define
SecretPswd14 as the password users must enter to use level 14 commands:
Switch(config)# privilege exec level 14 configure
    Switch(config)# enable password level 14 SecretPswd14
Also you can change the default privilege level for all the users .
Changing the Default Privilege Level for Lines Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to change the default privilege level for a line:    Command  Purpose
Step 1   configure terminal  Enter global configuration mode.
Step 2   line vty line  Select the virtual terminal line on which to restrict access.
Step 3   privilege level level  Change the default privilege level for the line.
For level, the range is from 0 to 15. Level 1 is for normal user EXEC mode
privileges. Level 15 is the level of access permitted by the enable password.
Step 4  end  Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 5   show running-config  or show privilege
Verify your entries. The first command shows the password and access level configuration.
The second command shows the privilege level configuration.
Step 6   copy running-config startup-config  (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
Users can override the privilege level you set using the privilege level line configuration command
by logging in to the line and enabling a different privilege level.
They can lower the privilege level by using the disable command.
If users know the password to a higher privilege level, they can use that password to enable the higher privilege level. You might specify a high level or privilege level for your console line to restrict line usage.
To return to the default line privilege level, use the no privilege level line configuration command. Also i am sending a document for your reference.

  • Shared Services, create read access to a cube into an application us a grou

    Hi,
I have an application with 3 cubes. I have created a group in Shared Services, and i want to give read access only to one cube.
If i give provision to this group , i only can give read to all the application, so all the cubes are going to have read access.
How must i do to give only read access to one cube and not to all,
    Thnx

    Hi,
This post will help answer your question :- Assigning database access using Shared Services
If you are using Shared Services access is applied at application level and you can't select individual access to each database.

  • Painfully slow access to admin console (how can I fix it?)

    Hi,
I'm using using Sun Java System Web Server Version 7.0U4 B12/02/2008 02:17 running on CentOS (Redhat EL) release 4.4.
The problem is that using the Admin Console (on port 8989) is painfully slow. It takes minutes for each page to load, but they do usually load.
Any ideas on how to fix that?
There are some other things going on that might be related and helpful to know:
I get certificate errors when I access the Admin Console (e..g, IE complains about a mismatched address). I've tried following the directions to install the certificate in IE7 and FF3, but neither has stopped bothering me about the certificate error.
I have the server behind a firewall which allows all outgoing traffic and select incoming ports to the server. The firewall also maps a public IP address to the server's local IP address (e..g, 10.10.10.8).
If I access the Admin Console locally via the LAN address (https://10.10.10.8:8989) it is no longer slow, but I get booted back to the login screen very frequently (e.g, every minute or two of casual browsing through the console), and I still get the certificate error
We haven't given the server a name, but access it by IP address, and the virtual server configuration in the Admin Console is name "localhost.localdomain"
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I've tried searching for solutions several times, but haven't succeeded.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Thanks for the thoughts

sounds more like some network issues. are you running your browser on your centos 4.4 as well ? also, did you try to connect using your IP - some thing like https://<ip>:8989 ?
No, we're not running the browser on centos 4.4. We're runing browsers on laptops, connecting both offsite via public IP address and in the office via both the public IP address and the LAN ip address.
Yes, we're using the ip address as you demonstrated. This machine does not have a domain name attached, so we only connect via ip addresses (mapped public or LAN)

I've tried following the directions to install the certificate in IE7 and FF3, but neither has stopped bothering me about the certificate error.it is not a certificate error. web server 7 admin server uses a self signed certificate . this is necessary step. however, IE reports a warning when it sees a self signed certificate. it wants you to know that it does not understand who sent this certificate. you need to create an exception - saying that you know what you are doing then there won't be any certificate error ..Okay, I'll look for how to do that, but so far I've only found instructions for how to install the certificate in the browsers, and unfortunately, that hasn't made a difference.

sounds like some network misconfiguration - outside the scope of this forum.I cannot rule that out, but other servers/websites seem to work fine with this same setup. Although, only this server is using https

if you want to increase this time out, you could do so by manually editing <install-root>/lib/webapps/admingui/WEB-INF/web.xml and change the value for session-timeout to say 600 (for 10 minutes).. . pl . note that this is not a supported way and you could potentially leave others to use your session if you are careless. but, if you know what you are doing .Thanks I did that. It surprises me that the default timeout appears to be 1 minute.

    Hi All,
I am having exactly the same problem with the same stack trace. Has anybody have an idea how to fix this?
I have downloaded the Java Identity Management Suite.(java_es-5-identsuite-ga-windows-x86.zip) The first time installation was fine and I was able to bring the Access Manager console. I was able to create users groups etc.
However, when I uninstalled and installed it again, I got exactly the same error described in the thread. Running "amserver start" and "amserver restart" did not help. I did the installation one more time
but again I got the same error.
    Thanks for the help.

    <jsp:plugin code="DoAction.class" codebase="." height="400" hspace="10" jreversion="1.5" type="applet" vspace="50" width="100" name="myApp"/>
    Here is the javascript
    function printReturn()
    var a = document.myApp.returnString();
    alert(a);
"returnString" is the method in applet which simply return a string
But it doesn't work, it works well when i'm using this applet in JSF
    <applet code="DoAction.class" width="100" height="50" name="myApp" ></applet>
    Unfortunately it's depricated!
Please tell me what is the solution....

    Hi,
I created a user with CREATE SESSION,SELECT ANY TABLE privilege. My objective is to create a user with read only access to other schemas. But the newly created user is not able to read procedures, function, packages and triggers. The new user need read access to procedures, function, packages and triggers. What is the priviege required for this access? Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Mat.

    Hi,
Grant select all will give select privileges to all schema level objects except procedures, function, packages and triggers. But I need to grant read privileges on these objects to newly created user.

  • Trace level of RWB's Message Monitoring - Detail Message - Tab "Audit log"

    Hi,
My flow is: File -> PI -> Transformed File with seeburger module. Everything is good except the trace level in RWB.
Exactly, in our PI production, under RWB -> Message Monitoring, when I select a message (e.g PI -> Outside) and see its Detail, under tab "Audit Log", I have a log with only 2 pages (which corresponds to the sender part "File -> PI")... whereas in our PI pre-production, I have 4 pages for the exact same flow, on which I have also info of the receiver part "PI -> Outside"...
My question is just: do you know which parameter is involved in this trace level of RWB's Message Monitoring Detail log ?
    regards.

    Hi Shabarish,
Thanks that will help to localize my search.
else by hazard, you don't know which parameter in this tree is for the "Audit Log"?
coz I did a quick look in prod and pre-prod, but it seems the severity is the same (e.g "Info" for most of them) whereas the trace level of "Audit log" is different.
    Thanks for
    Regards.
