Programmatically update a Project after a resource rate change.

Hello, I have the following scenario (Project Server 2010):
1. The resource standard rate for an enterprise resource (Joe) have been changed from $120 to $125. The change was made in PWA
2. Joe has assignments in several projects
3. PMO wants to see the updated projects cost (due the rate change) in a Project Center view
Easy Solution:
In Project Pro, open and publish each project. Works just fine, the Project Center view shows the updated project costs.
Desire Solution: Using the PSI update all projects. At first sight is pretty simple:
1. ReadProjectList (only those where Joe has assignments)
2.  For each project in the list do QueuePublish
But, seems to be there is no method in the PSI that "loads" the new resource rate, as Project Pro does when the project is opened.
I have tried with QueueUpdateProject and QueUpdateProjectTeam but I have no luck. Furthermore, programmatically I have made other changes to the project, like add a new resource to the team, then publish the project, and the change is shown but still it
continues working with the previous rate.
Any idea on how to achieve this?
Thanks,
Daniel

I just got off the phone with Apple.  They said it was a software-update related problem.  I restarted the computer and everything is working.

  • HT6012 iMovie 10.0.6 not updating old projects after upgrade

I upgraded my kids iMac to Yosemite, and upgraded iMovie to the latest version. Existing events and projects weren't showing up, so I did the step outlined to update the projects and events from previous versions. My events are there, but the projects aren't. i've verified they are all there in the top level directory for Movies, just like the folder with the old "iMovie Events" but it doesn't seem to want to pull them in. Is there any other way to get my old projects into this new version of iMovie?

Hi I had the same issue and fixed it with deleting "UpdatedtoiMovie10" see step 4.
n the Finder, click the Go menu and choose Home.
    Open the Movies folder.
Move the “iMovie Library” file to the Trash.
Note: If you have imported content or created projects with iMovie version 10.0, do not delete this file.
In the iMovie Projects and iMovie Events folders, you’ll find a file named “UpdatedtoiMovie10.” Move this file to the Trash from both folders.
    Open iMovie.
Choose File > Update Projects and Events.

  • How to update an Encore project after a small PPO change

    Hi guys,
I am new and I *think* I know how to do this but I wanted to double check with you.  I did google around but was unable to find help.
I have created a PPO movie with chapters, sent it to encore, and created menus etc successfully. I saw a mistake in the original footage while watching the disc I made. Its a small mistake.  So I went back to PPO and made my correction.
In order to get this fix into my finished encore project is this how I do it ?
In Encore :   File / Adobe Dynamic Link /  Import Premer Pro Sequence                ?
which would result in brining in this sequence with chapter markers .   then I delete the original sequence and rehookup this new sequence to the menus. am I right?
    Please advise  ! thanks !!

Hi all, I just thought I would update my note.  Turns out, I had to start over.
Yes, there is the ability to "right click on the timeline and pick Update markers" with the goal of importing new PPO timeline that had changes. I think there is a point of no return once you burn a disc or disc image - which is what I had done.  With all the rendering that went on Encore can't deal with the project that way, at least right now.
So, I first saved the menus I had created for the project to disk. Then I got into PPO and "send to Encore" again. It was just time consuming to reconnect all the chapters.
FYI to anyone out there in the same situation.
Oh and another interesting thing; The "mistake" I needed to correct in my project was an unwelcome clip that got stuck onto the very end of the timeline. I didn't know it was there until I saw the entire DVD. I think it was one single frame. So I googled "clip cut" etc in Encore and found that there is the ability to click on the clip and drag the small red/black icon with the arrow to the left to reduce the timeline.  I did that 4 times in a row each time generating an Encore crash.  Just think, if that had worked I wouldn't have had to start over.  Oh well!
    have a great day everyone.

  • Programmatically update Combo box won't update its Local variable

    Hello all,
I followed a tutorial from NI website and programmatically edit items in a combo box. It worked successfully but not for the Local variables. Local variables still retain items that it had before.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks !
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need to programmatically update the value property in order to change what the local variable will return, the value that you will wire doesn't have to match with one of the Strings[] array.
Perhaps you need to do something like this to update your value to change from "Two" to "Five".

  • Project Resource Rates

    Hello
we're using EPM 2010 and soon 2013 to manage our clients' projects.
we are using a centralised resource pool and people will enter Timesheet for project tracking.
one particularity is that every project is having a specific agreement on a rate for resources.
I know that we have 5 rate tables in EPM but I see this as a limitation because someone in his life will surely be assigned to more than 5 project and starting to play with talbles AND effective dates leads to management nightmares.
so my question is : do you see a way we can edit the resource rate per project?
do you see any other alternative for our use case?
    regards
    Jérome

    Hello Jerome,
I've written a utility that allows you to define ratecards externally to your project, and then apply them as and when required. So say you had a rate card per customer, you could build that ratecard once, and then use the ratecard import utility to apply
those rates to each project you are executing for that customer.
It's not open source, but it is freely available within our MS Project add-on. See the middle section of this webpage ("Rate Card Utilities") for a description:

  • CAN'T OPEN PROJECT after updating software

    Hallo,
Today I downloaded Pro Applicatios Update 2008-01. Than I opened my FCP project, but Final cut asked me if I want to update my project from earlier version. I confirmed, but reading project stopped and FC 6.0.3 failed. I hve tried to open older versions of this project but they've failed too. But another project works. The only difference between this and the other project is, that I use multicam in it.
I've alo trashed FC preferences, but it didn't help.
Can you advice please? Thank you.
    JB

Select the files in the browser and use the File>Reconnect function. You'll get a list of clips the application is looking for. Navigating to where the first media file is and select it.

  • Cannot open projects after updating to 10.0.1

it asks me to update my projects. i press ok. projects are all displayed in the project pane. but when i try to open a project (or sometimes even when I select a particular project), i get the spinning rainbow wheel. i've already tried trashing ~/Library/Preferences/*FinalCut*

Use Digital Rebellion's "Preference Manager" to trash prefs, faster, safer, and there's more than one pref file.
I'd actaully go into the Projects and Events folders manually and trash all the Render files.

  • Update 10.1: Can't find my projects after updating

Hi, I updated all of my media/projects to 10.1 (By having it search the drive for old media/projects)--and I have access to my events/clips in the new FCPX library system (including from my external HD), but I can't find any of my old projects... it's as if they weren't updated to the Library system or something. Even when I try to manually locate and update the project files, final cut says that it cannot find any projects to update... meaning the projects are updated? Then why don't they show up in my library?
Thank you for any help you can offer

Lamothe - I seem to be getting closer on this:  I created a new "Final Cut Events" and "Final Cut Projects" folders and placed just one corresponding folder in each (one project/event, respectively), then selected "update all" and FCPX did update THAT event.  The trouble is NONE of the original files linked so now I am struggling through that process.  For years now I have used Aperture to store and organize my project files (stills & video clips) but, at least at the moment, FCPX doesn't seem to want to look at Aperture and so I am having significant difficulty with relinking my files....but at least I'm getting closer.  I may just transfer all the files from Aperture into the corresponding event or project folder and see if that helps....
Also, I don't think it's a good practice to have your media files on your main boot drive if in fact your "Macintosh HD" is the boot drive.  FCPX will function much better with the addition of a second drive, either internal or external.  Best of luck to you.

  • Project server new resource Customization and Programming

    hi
how to add categories(like My Tasks, My Resources) for a new resource programmatically in project server 2010?

    Hi
You may add the categories to a group , later you can add the user to specific group
Either you can hardcode the group guid or get the group guid by reading all the groups
    Sample:
    Guid gpUID = new Guid("303D8BA6-BD1A-437A-984E-B19AD11EF345");
    srvSecurity.SecurityGroupsDataSet secutiryAuthDs = new srvSecurity.SecurityGroupsDataSet();
                    secutiryAuthDs = objSecurity.ReadGroup(gpUID);
                    srvSecurity.SecurityGroupsDataSet.GroupMembersRow securityAuthRow = secutiryAuthDs.GroupMembers.NewGroupMembersRow();
                    secutiryAuthDs.GroupMembers.AddGroupMembersRow(gpUID, resourceRow.RES_UID);
                    objSecurity.SetGroups(secutiryAuthDs);
You are going to update the group after adding the user to group
    Hope this helps

  • Customer Downpayment Update in Project Infosystems

    Hi,
I am facing problems w.r.t. update of customer down payment in project info systems. As per standard SAP, after doing customer down payments, this will get updated in project info systems (CN41/CN41N).
Please suggest me to fix the issue.

    hi,
Downpayment request is used to create a billing request through
the t code DP 90.This DR can further be used to create a billing document
    say invoice.
Actually you will be using these fundas in Resource Related Billing because that is
where the integration between PS and SD module take place with the help of
DR against actual resource utilized in the project.
I hope this clarifies your question and award points if it is so.
Do not hesitate to ask me if you have any further questions in this.

  • Lost Projects after FCP X crash

I have lost two projects after a crash of FCP X, both on different external drives.
FCP X begins going slow and then freezes and then closes, when I reopen it and try to find the project I was just working on, it is gone!  I have searched all over and cannot find it.  When I try to update events and projects (under file) it is not there.
Help!  This is about 8 hours of work lost.

This helped recover one of my missing projects from one of my external hard drives, but when I attempt the same process to recover a different project from a different external hard drive, this warning appears:
I did the exact same thing as with the other project/drive and for some reason this one is not working??

  • Project Server 2010 - Import Project Wizard - Local Resource Import Error

Using Project Server 2010 SP2 with admin rights when I encountered the following error:
    Steps:
Upon importing a local mpp file with Import Projects Wizard
Mapped Resources.  Some were mapped to enterprise resources and others were left as local.
Following completion of import process (mapped task fields, and save), the resources that were marked as "keep as local" were imported to the server as enterprise resources.
I have never encountered this issue with previous versions of project server and am wondering if anyone else has run into the same issue and if there is a patch?  The error is consistently repeatable and I will check utilizing the account
of someone without admin rights to see if it happens there as well.
It appears that in proceeding to validation step, the import field is automatically defaulted to Yes when proceeding to step 2.  If the user doesn't manually flag this back to No, then the resource is imported to project server.

    Hi Luis,
I just ran a quick test and I couldn't reproduce your issue with PS2010 SP2. My local resources have been kept as local resources after the import process whereas the resources with a similar name than enterprise resources have been mapped with enterprise
    resources.
Not sure which CU I have but I'd suggest you to upgrade to the
    latest CU.
    Hope this helps,

  • Annually increased resource rates

An interesting problem has just arisen.
We use fully resourced and costed programmes using P6R8 and I have just come across this.
Our resource charge out rate changes every 1st April so I have added effective dates and correct resource charge out rates to the relevent years.
For activities that are either side of the rate change, the correct value is shown (i.e. a 10 hour activity at £45.98/hr = £459.80) Obviously the activities on the other side of the rate increase show the new rate and work that out correctly.
However, can you imagine for example, a project management overhead bar that extends through 2 or even 3 rate changes. I would expect to see an increase in cost at the rate change even though the number of hours remains the same.
It doesn't appear that Primavera thinks this way. It appears to calculate the value by taking the number of hours at each rate and working that out and then showing an average spend for each resource based on the value of the resource divided by the total number of hours on that activity.
This gives the correct value for the bar at the completion of the activity, but when you are claiming EV from a client on a monthly basis, the average that you are claiming is, at the beginning of the activity higher than you would expect, and at the end of the activity is less than your charge out rate. As I say, at the end of the activity it is the correct value, but not on a month by month basis.
I know this is only for very long overhead type bars and if you build your schedule correctly it will not affect "normal length" activities.
Is this a problem that has been overlooked by Primavera or am I being overly cautious, but if I was the client and doing some real forensic digging into a schedule, it is a question I would ask
I look forward to all your replies
    Best regards

We have observed same results for the resources we increased rates. We would like to see some answer/justification by Oracle-Primavera.
Although one of the work around is, reassign the same resource to activity, change the resource start date matching effective date of the resource increased rate. Remaining units will be your budgeted units and bucket plan/units/cash flow for the remaining periods.
We are also looking for some solutions if we come up something more than reassigning the same resources or adding new resources with new rates........ We will get back to you and suggest something that work easy and less complex.

  • Staffing of Project Roles with Resources

    Hi PPM Gurus,
We have some gaps when designing workflow email to Resource Line manager in cProject (Project Management) in PPM. We working on scenario where,-
    1.       1. Project Manager (PM) knows only roles required for project, but not resources
    2.       2. Important Question: How PM will inform by SAP workflow to Resource Manager (RM) or Line Manager (LM) to update resource in cProject.
    3.       3. Then we can use standard SAP workflow process as mentioned in 1013736 – cProject soft booking and hard booking approval workflow which is,
    1) The process of approval of a Soft Booking of a Resource to a Project Role and the subsequent conversion of the booking from 'Soft Booked' to 'Hard Booked' is controlled by means of a workflow.
    2) This workflow will be triggered when a Resource is assigned to a Project Role or an old booking is changed and the booking type of a resource is marked as 'Soft Booked' by a Resource Manager. A Resource can be soft booked by checking the 'Res.' checkbox within the staffing table against the resource which is being booked to a role.
    3) The Line Manager of the resource which was soft booked will receive a mail containing a link to his SAP Business Workplace from where he/she can approve/reject the booking.
    4) In the SAP Business Workplace of the Line Manager a work item would be present which will have the booking details, 'Approve Booking' and 'Reject Booking' buttons which shall be used to make the respective decisions.
    5) If the booking is approved then the workflow will try to automatically convert this booking from 'Soft Booked' to 'Hard Booked' in the background. If it succeeds then the process will move forward; if not (say, because of reasons like Project/role being locked) then the Line Manager will get another mail informing him/her about the failure and would have to re-execute the booking through a new work item. Once the booking type is successfully converted from 'Soft Booked' to 'Hard Booked' then the Resource Manager(s), Project Manager(s) and the Resource himself/herself will receive a mail notifying the confirmation of the booking.
    6) If the booking is rejected then the booking type will remain unchanged ('Soft Booked') and the Resource Manager(s), Project Manager(s) will receive a mail notifying the rejection of the booking.
    Bottom of Form
    Regards, Diana

    Hi Diana,
Your questions can be answered through staffing type 'Resource manager via responsible organisation' known as extended staffing process in PPM-Project management.
    There are many staffing types
    1) Project lead
    2) Resource manager via authorisation
    3) Resource manager via responsible organisation (Extended staffing process)
    4) Multi-Resource Scheduling (MRS) (If MRS is integrated).
Except the first one, all other staffing type involves resource managers to staff the project roles and these staffing types are cross-project view for resource managers. The first one is project-centric and it is always staffed by the project lead/Project manager.
Resource manager via authorisation: Here the staffing is carried out based on the authorisation the resource manager has for specific resource pools with staffing/candidate manager authorisation to a single/multiple projects.
Resource manager via responsible organisation: In this process, the responsible staffing/candidate manager is identified through the HR organisation unit assigned by the project manager to a project role. This extended staffing process has 3 steps–
    1)     Staffing in preparation (Where the project manager select the suitable department/functions(org. unit) for staffing the resource manager)
    2)     Staffing in process ( The responsible staffing manager of the org. unit staff resources from his org. unit)
    3)     Staffing closed (The project manager closes the staffing process).
MRS staffing is also similar to the above with its own extra features.
Considering this, I feel that ‘Extended staffing process’ is more suitable for your scenario.
    Regards,
    Ravi
