Project Setup

Hi
Are there any documents anywhere to advise how to setup up projects within JDeveloper. All examples are simple systems but how do people go about organising a 400 page system within JDeveloper?
Does everyone break their system down into sub-areas with each sub-area being a seperate project?
And how do you all manage your data layer? If the system has a thousand tables and therefore potentially 1000 Entity Beans, how are these managed?
Cheers
Rich

And also, what about session beans?
I am guessing you don't use one session bean for the entire system.
Please, if someone can point me in the right direction here I would be most grateful

What is Project setup, WBS element mgmt, user status and settlement

If you are after the definitions, the simplest way would be to go to SAP Help.
If you're after the transaction code, it's CJ20N which is the Project Builder screen.

  • Best practice of KM development project setup

    Hello Forum,
I'm about to write my first application with the Knowledge Management framework.
The purpose of the app is relatively simple: collect certian documents from the repository, export them to some destination and provide a report over the export (links).
    What approach should I take?
    1) A standard, re-usable (J2EE) Web App, which only utilizes the KM libs? In this approach I see the advantage that my deliverable would be a more flexible, except the KM access platform independend enterprise app. The installable container would be a EAR/SCA archive which also is the more future oriented form of distribution, ins't it?
    2) A SAP portal app created by the Developer Studio utilizing wizard driven KM components, which will end in deployment of a SAP par compontent? This approach has the benefit that the Dev Studio generates the basic KM project setup and generates some stubs what let me concentrate on the business.
<b>But</b> my app does not integrate so deep with KM services. Offer the wizards enough value?
And, supposing approach 2 has to be taken, what kind of KM component has to be instantiated for my kind of app? A repository manager or some kind of (filter) service? <b>Do I need such a component at all</b> or would some simple library calls (I've seen interfaces like getContent() ) will do the job?
But if so, approach 1 would do it, right?
    Thank
    Carsten

  • Mysterious skn name in project setup - what file is being referenced?

I have a strange situation where the Project Set-up pod shows that I am using a skin with Name A, yet when I use Windows Explorer to browse the project files, there is no skin with Name A anywhere in the vicinity. Another oddity is that the Project Set-up pod shows five or six possible skins to choose from, yet there are definitely only two in the project folder.
Is it possible that the project is pointing a skin that exists elsewhere on my system? For example, to some other folder that I previously used as a working folder? Is there anyway to get RoboHelp to tell me which file it is pointing to?
    thanks in advance,
    Roy

To answer the skin name issue, RoboHelp displays the same skin name in Project setup pod as present in the project skin folder on disk.
    This is the default behavior.
However, if you rename the skin through Project setup pod, it displays the updated name and updates the entry of skin name in the skin file on the disk. However, the skin file name on disk is not updated. Thus windows explorer shows the original file name though the content of the files have been updated.
    For Example
If you a create a WebHelp skin with the name "sampleskin", it creates a file "sampleskin.skn" on the disk. When you rename the skin from sampleskin.skn" to "newskin", the filename on the disk remains "sampleskin.skn", though the entry of filename with the .skn file is updated.

  • Templates Project Setup and Lease Management Setups don't show up during selection set creation

    Hi,
    I am new to iSetup.
I have just installed iSetup using the Isetup List Of Mandatory Patches For R12 (Doc ID 811040.1)
I don't find the following templates needed by my users to create selection sets:
    - Projects Setup
    - Lease Management Setups
Any idea why they don't show up?
    Regards,
    Jean

    It's not a backup restoration.
I'm a newbie, I installed Oracle on my computer. In the installation, Oracle allows to create a database. I didn't change any setting information, excepted set the database's password.
    Oracle was successul installed.
    The database setup (wizard) failed.
    The listener was not created.
When the wizard step run "Creation and starting an Oracle instance", I get ORA-03113.
I don't know the log I sent to you is the good log. I'm not sure. My database name is "Essai1"
Do it is some files that I could send to you?
    thanks for your help.

  • AE SDK plugin project setup in XCode

I need to port some AE effects plugins to OSX and I have never used XCode before. Unsurprisingly,Adobe supplied no demo of project setup.Should it be a "bundle" or  "C/C++ plugin"  , or anything else? Not a single line on it.
I opened the example projects from the SDK.I see that the target files ,all of them have the ending ".plugin" and build properties which I can't find when creating custom builds.I am using XCode 4.5 .Anyone can explain the main steps to confgure plugins just like the SDK examples?
    Thanks.

Shachar is right, in the end you're best bet it to just duplicate an existing example and then replace your code according to the structure they created for you.
You should read the SDK documentation, on Page 32, titled "How to start creating plugins".  I would strongly discourage devising custom build steps.  It's just painful, and you don't need to do it.  Make sure that you are targeting OSX 10.7 if you installed XCode on 10.8+.  The projects won't build otherwise.  See the attached image:
It's painstaking, but with enough desire, you'll be building OSX plugins, and yes all plugin files end with the .plugin extension.

  • Premiere Pro project setup and exporting 16x9 to 4:3 letterbox

I need to export a 16x9, 720/30p CS3 project, for final viewing on a 4:3 projector in letterbox. *This project is about to kick off with a VERY short deadling and the shooters keep changing their mind about whether they're going to shoot in 720/30p or 720/60p. I need to plan for both to be safe. How will this effect things in my original 16x9 project setup if they give me both 720/30p and 720/60p video? And what about exporting for letterbox viewing in 4:3 if this occurs? I mean, if I start a project in 720/30p with CS3 and they bring me 720/60p video as well as 720/30p video, will I have to start a new project and start editing everything all over again, and vice versa? Also, how will this effect my final letterboxed 16x9 product? **I also have to provide this to the customer in 16x9 DVD format.

Sorry, but you are at the wrong forum. The Premiere forums are here:

  • Project setup-Access Level

    Dear Dina,
In Project setup in project management , access level denotes what,i can c 2 choices Enterprise,Secured....pls help me to understand.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi
Here is what I was able to find in Project Fundation User Guide, page 13-5
    * Secured: Indicates that the project is secured. The project can be viewed only
by users with either secured or unsecured roles on the project and by users with
organization authority roles. Users with responsibilities that give them view all
projects or update all projects access can also access secured projects.
    * Enterprise: Indicates that the project can be viewed by any user in your
enterprise, regardless of their role, responsibility, project assignment, or organization
authority. A guest role menu determines what enterprise project information users
can view. Your implementation team can modify the guest role menu to increase or
decrease the amount of access users have to enterprise project functions.

  • What is the correct project setup format?

My footage is AVCHD 1080p 1.66 ratio at 29.97 FPS, my output is for youtube HD so I'm outputting MP4 1280x720, 1.0 ratio, 23.97 FPS.
When I'm creating a project, what should I setup the sequence specifications to be?  Match the AVCHD or match the MP4?  Something entirely different?

  • Advise on project setup

    Dear all,
For my first real “serious” project I am learning FCE and looking for advise on how to setup.
The project is interviewing both my parents. This is something I can recommend anyone. My parents are both 80+ and still relatively healthy of body and mind.
I already found out that interviewing a technique on its own. With the camcorder next to my head and lots of open questions I am capturing many hours of their life stories I had never heard of. I go there now every Sunday and interview one of them for 1 – 2 hours. In total I will have 6 sessions. My goal is to cut this together with old photos etc. into a documentary of about 45 min.
    My setup is simple:
    JVC GZ-MG130 hard disk camcorder
    Mac mini – 1,83-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 1 GB ram - 80-GB HD
Firewire HD soon, (waiting for Iomega Mini Max 500 Gb)
    iMovie ‘08
    FCE 4.0
I learned that FCE can not capture direct from my JVC so what I do is capture in iMovie, make the rough cut in iMovie and than XML export to FCE.
For this particular project, one take can be more than an hour, resulting in large media files. After XML importing in FCE I find only 1 sequence with 1 clip in my browser, although in iMovie I already cut many clips. The clips are imported right, but are somehow glued together again as 1 clip.
I can manually break this up in subclips, but I think there must be a better way.
Q1: How to import from iMovie leaving the clip structure intact?
Q2: How to organize this project. Would this be one project, or a project for every interview day, or bin for every interview day?
thanks in advance for your help.

Well, your MG130 is the start of the difficulties,
I guess with camcorders it is just like computers: the first one that you buy is always the wrong one
But still i found it good value for money.
I'd suggest capturing in iMovie, as you have been doing, but after capture immediately export it to FCE. Don't do any editing in iMovie08. Once you have the material in FCE, do your editing there.
That sounds more logical than what Apple suggest: to do the rough cut in iMovie.
I think I'll follow your advise.

  • Project setup for a mobile and desktop application including native extensions (ANE)?

I'm using Flash Builder 4.6 and I want to develop an application that is deployed to mobile and desktop devices. Therefore I tried a setup with three projects; one desktop project for Windows and Mac OSX, one mobile project for iOS and Android and also one library project for shared resources. The library project is used in the mobile and desktop project. Afterwards I placed all stuff like AS classes and UI components in the library project and instanciate them in the devices project. This works so far. (As consensus decision-making I used Flex components that are available vor mobile and desktop.)
But If I want to use native extensions (ANE) like a DLL for Windows or a gyroscop for mobile devices, then I can't add the ANE to the library project. I have to add the ANE file separately to each device project and build a separate UI components. Is this the way it's intend to use ANE files? Is there an even simpler approach?
Or is there a completly different way, e.g. setup just one common project (instead of three) and use different skins for mobile and desktop?
Your answer is appreciated. (Including links to documentation and tutorials.)

  • Netbeans Package project setup

Using the good advice I have been given over the last few days from this forum I have setup the following directory structure :
    <Root>
    |
    Amini
    |
    | | |
    nb_projects packages_src packages_class
    | |
    com com
    | |
    bilbo bilbo
I want to preserve all my own package source and class files in the structure above but and have all my netbeans projects in nb_projects
If I start a new project in netbeans how can I make it store all the source files in the correct directory. For instance, if I make a "tax" package I want to develop it in a project folder in nb_projects but have the source files and class files put in c:\amini\packages_src\com\bilbo\tax ... etc
The new project wizard attempts this by asking Project loaction and Project folder but it creates another "src" folder under the tax folder which means that my package structure is compromised !!!
Really appreciate some help here. Thanks.

right-click the "Source Package" node in the project. Select "Properties". Click the add folder and name it. This will automatically include the new packages in the build.

  • Proper Flash Builder 4.6 project setup to use AIR3.2 and Stage3D?

I would love to use Flare3D on a mobile app. Im struggling to get FB to get set up for this.
I have overlayed AIR3.2 and added a flash player 11.2 debugger exe in the players folder as well as playerglobal.swcs for 11.2RC.
When I go to make a new actionscript for mobile project the air namespace is already properly 3.2 from the overlay. I set wmode to direct and the same even again in the actionscript [SWF(wmode="direct")].
When I make a mobile config and test on desktop from an emulated android the debug reports my version properly as 11,2 so I know the FlashPlayerDebugger.exe is working.
I make sure my compiler settings target -swf-version 15.
Yet I always have an 'unknown internal problem' using this type of project. If I do a standard MXML mobile project it works just fine.
I can export to a flash web app using stage3d and it works great. I have the 11.2RC debuggers installed in my browsers. But as soon as I try the same as-only for mobile project it wont work with that useless error.
I am new to flash builder, AIR, Stage3D and Flare3D so Im a bit of a fish out of water.
Can I use stage3d from air3.2 in mobile dev from Flash Builder 4.6? Thanks for any tips!

rendermode should be set to direct in the xml, I have only tested with starlng+air 3.2+android but it did work and i didnt do anything with wmode

  • Project setup - what's best for source code versioning?

We're about to start developing a new portal and are wondering what would be the best directory structure. It's important to decide at the beginning because we're using CVS version management for our source code (we are currently using it for our ADF development).
Are there any issues related to directory/package structure? With ADF, we had problems when we wanted jsps from one application to call those in another application. To get around that, we had to put all of our applications within the same jdeveloper "project".
I'm keen to hear any suggestions - especially if you work in a multi-application environment with concurrent development etc.
    thanks,
    M

Since I don't have a Canon, I don't know the specifics of how to ingest media for that camera. But FCE does have the ability to log & transfer AVCHD, as I have done this with a Sony HandiCam and my Lumix GH-1.
The codec that FCE transcoded to, was AIC, Apple Intermediate Codec. FCE is 'fine' if you are not using 24p frame rates, as there are no 24p sequence options. (You can use 24p in a 25p timeline... but broadcast engineers will gnash their teeth on such botchery.)
This may or may not be an issue.
On the 'problem' of 'wyrd things happen when I whip pan my camera'... well, yeah... There are some industry standards about how fast objects should move across the field of view to avoid artifacts.
The "whip pan", namely quickly pivoting the camera, will produce strange imaging. While the technology and image formation is different, so the artifacts are different, but even for 'film film' there are limits.
One rule thumb I've run across is an object should take at least 5 seconds from one side of the screen to the other. Faster will result in artifacts, strobing, or in the case of digital cameras, 'rolling shutter' issues.
The motto of the day is... "Know thy camera"...
There may be filters to minimize or save the day if needed, but it is just better to shoot correctly in the first place...

  • Project Setup: NTSC or PAL

In connection with a recent post I made:
When you begin a project in DVD Studio Pro, you have the option to set the project as NTSC or PAL.
What would happen if I shot/edited an NTSC video, but selected the DVD studio pro project to be PAL? Would the burned DVD then be capable of playing on a PAL dvd player?

Unless I'm mistaken, I do not believe that you can import a NTSC video into a PAL DVDSP project. Even if it is possible, it's not a good idea from a quality standpoint.
So, yes, use Compressor to transcode your file from NTSC to PAL. That said, I would try to avoid doing that directly to an MPEG-2 encode. In other words, convert from (say) DV-NTSC to DV-PAL with a very healthy dose of Frame Controls - set every option to Better - and see how you like the results. Then convert your DV-PAL file to MPEG-2 for use in a PAL DVDSP project. But Compressor is not fast when it comes to transcoding of this type.
If you can - because you'll likely need to run this overnight or over the weekend. - I'd recommend the use of job chaining. In case you haven't done that before, select your DV-PAL encode setting in Compressor's Batch window and then select *Job > New Job from Selected Output* via the menubar. That will bring up a new job - a whole new box - that you can slap the appropriate MPEG-2 & Dolby settings on to. This way, you'll have your converted file - should you need to (re)encode and any point - as well as at least one attempt at converting it to MPEG-2. If you're happy with the quality, you've killed two birds with one stone...
