Projects to General Ledger integration

Does anyone have any experience creating GL journals from PA project allocations? We want to run allocations in projects and have the results go to the GL, based on PA accounting rules.
Thanks

Can you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do.
I have experience in intergrating project accounting to the general ledger in a data warehouse using discoverer to show the results.
The solution I developed for my compnay is to ensure all entries from all sub-ledgers including manual journal entries are moved to the data warehouse tables have project information based on PA autoaccounting rules.
The company I work for was interested in viewing reports that cubed cost centers (dept's.) to projects and to translate all entries (not just account balances) to USD for thier foriegn set of books. So, projects can be seen company wide in USD at lowest entry level. The solution I gave them solved the problem and they are able to view reports and evaluate costs by cost centers and projects on an enterprise wide application.
If this is what you are looking for let me know.
about my self : I have a B.S. in Computer Science (Theoretical Track) and 17 yrs of accounting and book keeping experience including consolidation and multi-currency sets of books.

  • General Ledger - System Integrity and Control Check

Our SAP Business One system receives input from various sources on a daily basis. Therefore we would like to establish a business process to ensure balancing of the books and monitoring of suspense accounts.
    How do we develop reports to check the following 3 items;
    1. Business Units (On and Off Balance sheet accounts not balancing to zero and Monitoring specified category of accounts)
    2. Ledgers Vs Journal integrity (Ensuring Journals, Detail Ledger and Daily Ledger are all consistent at all points of time)
    3. Financial integrity (Comparing the balances held between the detailed Ledger, Monthly Average Ledger and Yearly Average Ledger - ensuring they are synchronised at all times)

Thanks to previous responder for tip regarding JDK/JRE anchor strings. I'm not sure if that is a problem. After letting the install process (java.exe) run for over an hour, I finally got past the InstantiateFile step. It looks like the process just takes a long time with no visible progress sometimes. After 5-6 hrs, it looked like the install succeeded (for the most part). There were still some errors in the error logs related to the Concurrent Manager (TNS-12541: TNS:no listener) I believe. If anyone has insight on what this error msg means, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
The other problem I am tackling right now is how to explicitly set the Forms processing mode to HTTP rather than the default socket mode. According to the 11i docs (and Forms Developer 6i docs), you should only have to set "connectMode=HTTP" in the config file, appsweb.cfg, to make this happen. However, when I try bringing up a client form, the form hangs. So, obviously, something is amiss. A related question is whether one can run Forms in only HTTP mode and not HTTPS (and thus avoid having to install SSL). I would greatly appreciate any insight from fellow users.

  • Migrating to SAP General Ledger (NewGL)  on a different box

We are looking at migrating to SAP General Ledger on a production system with over 150 company codes and 10 years of unarchived data. Since this results in pretty large database tables we are looking at several options to minimize business impact.
Among the available options, I have been told that it is possible to perform a migration from one box to another rather than in-place. I'm having trouble visualizing how transactional data from other modules (CO, SD, MM, PP etc) would be preserved in this case.
Can anyone tell me if migrating from classic GL on one box to new GL on another is possible? Does it really reduce downtime? If so, how does it achieve this time savings? What are the pitfalls of taking this approach? Can a box-to-box approach be taken without loss of non-GL transactional data?
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Hi,
we migrated on 31st of march 2008 3 different 46c systems (AT, IN, CN) with 3 huge and a few small company codes into one ECC 60 system (using HR, SD, MM, PM, PP, QM, FI, CO). In ECC 60 we are using NewGL, document split, functional area reporting, PRCTR-wise balance sheets, segment reporting, FI/CO online integration, leding ledger IFRS, 2 non leading ledgers for every comp. code,...
The migration project was started a year before go-live the system downtime was only the 31st of march (one day) for each company code.
The main thing was, that we decided not to migrate any old transactional data to the new system but only the data (master data, open items, open PO's,...) thats needed.
So the old stuff remains still in the old system (FY-end closing was done there) and all comp.codes started the new fiscal year in the new system.
Due to the fact that many reporting issues where covered by business warehouse this ensured a continously reporting across the old and new system landscape and there was never a need to have "old" data visible in the new system.

  • Posting of CarryForward New general ledger

    Hi financial wizards,
our client uses new general ledger. The accounting block has been extended with some ZZ user fields carrying results determined via substitution exits during posting.
The additional customer fields are added to the accounting block and are stored on item level (BSEG) as on aggregate level (FAGLFLEXT).
After the run of transaction FAGLGVTR - 'Balance Carryforward (New)' we have the correct values in the carryforward column of the target account, but values from customer fields are not transfered.
SAP will not help us with a note at this time; the features may be integrated in a later release.
Now my question: How to post the carryforward values manually or by program? I know the SAP Carryforward does not create any documents but after the run the Carryforward period (period 0 in former times) is filled with the sums of previous years P+L accounts. Carryforward works correct i.E. for profit center but not for the additional clients fields.
We need some good ideas as how to overcome this      obstacle.
    Regards,
    Clemens

    Dear Peter,
I am afraid that you are mistaken. There is lot of difference between the New GL Accounting and COPA. They are entirely different and its utility is also different.
Here in New Gl, Characteristics means, segment characteristics, for example, business area, profit center, functional area, segment.
    Trust this answers your query!

  • Standard Crystal Layout for General Ledger Report, Development Limitations

    Hi Guys,
I have experienced some development limitations in the standard crystal general ledger layout for "General Ledger report" in SAP.
So if we are running standard "General Ledger" report we have a lot of columns but we unable to get these columns in the standard crystal layout because PLD_Items (XML source file) doesn't contain all of them. For example, I need to add a "Project" into existing standard crystal layout and I can't do that.
Do you have guys, any ideas how to change PLD_Items source or it's impossible?
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi,
If you are talking about PLD, then the answer is NO.  You need your own report using some other tools like CR to build the report.

  • Templates in oracle general ledger

In my client side they have not defined the templates but in vision i see the template defined(general ledger).can some one tell me when do we define template and what is the purpose of a template in general ledger?
    Regards
    sudharshan

    Hello.
You can create a template for entering recurring journals entries using the Desktop Integration responsibility (Web ADI product). In the template you can enter the Source, Category, Currency and the accounts to be debited and credited and upload them to GL. Next time you will just need to change the amounts and the period.

  • Document on New General Ledger Accounting

    Hi SAP Gurus,
Can anyone help by providing the following details relating to General Ledger Accounting (New):
    1. What are the advantages of New GL accounting
    2. Any Bearing on Controlling Module.  If so, what they are (like no need of Cost Element Reconciliation)
    Tnaks in advance
    B Surya

    The following are the advantages of New GL Accounting;
    1. On-line document splitting. Real time integration of CO=>FI
    2. New GL replaces the SPL (Special Purpose Ledger) to some extent and not 100%
    3. CO Reconciliation is not required due to on-line splitting
    4. Parallel Accounting
    5. Segment Reporting.

  • How to load data from Quikbooks into PeopleSoft General Ledger module ?

    Folks,
    Hello.
My client's data is currently stored in Quikbooks.
After install PeopleSoft FSCM 9.0, I need to load the data from Quickbooks into PeopleSoft General Ledger module. But I don't know how to use PeopleSoft Integration Broker to integrate with Quikbooks.
Can any folks tell me how to load data from Quikbooks into PeopleSoft General Ledger module ?

    Hi,
If the data load is one time process, then you can use PL/SQL or datamover to load the data to PeopleSoft application.
If you want to load the data in real time, then you need to create In-bound and out-bound nodes to perform the transaction.
    Thanks

  • Difference Between Special Purpose Ledger and New General Ledger

    Dear All,
Could any boy explain me the difference between Special Purpose Ledger and New General Ledger?
    Regards
    JS

    Hi
General Ledger Accounting (FI-GL) (New) The central task of G/L accounting is to provide a comprehensive picture of external accounting and accounts. Recording all business transactions (primary postings as well as settlements from internal accounting) in a software system that is fully integrated with all the other operational areas of a company ensures that the accounting data is always complete and accurate. Beyond fulfilling the legal requirements, General Ledger Accounting also fulfills other requirements for modern accounting: - Parallel Accounting General Ledger Accounting allows you to perform parallel accounting by managing several parallel ledgers for different accounting principles. - Integration of Legal and Management Reporting In General Ledger Accounting, you can perform internal management reporting in parallel with legal reporting. For this purpose, the Profit Center Accounting functions are integrated with General Ledger Accounting. Furthermore, you can generate financial statements for any dimension (such as profit center). - Segment Reporting General Ledger Accounting supports the segment reports required by the accounting principles IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). For this purpose, General Ledger Accounting contains the Segment dimension. - Cost of Sales Accounting You can perform cost of sales accounting in General Ledger Accounting. For this purpose, General Ledger Accounting contains the Functional Area dimension. Features General Ledger Accounting comprises the following functions for entering and evaluating posting data: - Choice between group level or company level - Automatic and simultaneous posting of all subledger items in the appropriate general ledger accounts (reconciliation accounts) - Simultaneous updating of the parallel general ledgers and of the cost accounting areas - Real-time evaluation of and reporting on current posting data, in the form of account displays, financial statements with different balance sheet versions, and additional analyses. In this way, General Ledger Accounting automatically serves as a complete record of all business transactions. It is the central and up-to-date component for reporting. Individual transactions can be checked at any time in real time by displaying the original documents, line items, and monthly debits and credits at various levels such as: - Account information - Journals - Totals/transaction figures - Balance sheet/profit and loss evaluations However, SAP still offers to choose between the New GL and the old Classic GL way of accounting. There are certain limitations in the new GL and clients are adopting to the new gl concept.

  • Business One C# DI API's for General Ledger Report?

    Hi,
Are you trying to run the report via code?  If so, you can only do that using the UI objects as there is not DIAPI for reporting.
You first need to activate the menu item for the report:
    connect.SboApp.ActivateMenuItem("13058");
Once you've done that, you can get the active form which will be your criteria window, use the UIAPI to set your criteria and run the report by getting the OK button object and calling the Click method.
