  • Having trouble connecting to your up-date server, I can't.

    Have been trying for weeks to install your up-date that was sent to me and suggested to install. Problem is three fold:
    1- I can not get past the pop up screen that states Downloading Firefox and connecting to Firefox server, green bar just keeps running back and forth, it will never connect. And reminder pop-up comes on every time I restart my computer and try to install it every time, with the same results, it just keeps running.
    2- I also get Alerts from my Norton System that state " High Disc usage by Firefox.
    3- I get lots of not responding messages and delays on Firefox
    I'm sure all are related, but I'm computer stupid and don't know what to do.

    If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
    Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Thanks for Adrian's help.
    Hi shaza,
    From the error message, I suggest you can refer the Adrian's suggestion to check the date source connection string correctly.
    In addition, you can refer the following about how to Create a Data-Driven Coded UI Test to check your issue:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee624082.aspx
    Or you can also try to use a Configuration File to Define a Data Source for coded UI test.
    For example:
    <?xml
    version="1.0"
    encoding="utf-8"
    ?>
    <configuration>

    Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.UnitTestFramework, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"/>
    </configSections>
    <connectionStrings>
    <add
    name="ExcelConn"
    connectionString="Dsn=Excel Files;dbq=E:\Unit Test\AddClass\AddUnitTest\add.xlsx;defaultdir=.;
    driverid=790; maxbuffersize=2048; pagetimeout=60;"

  • The dreaded "Cannot connect to Microsft Excel..."

    Hello everyone,
    First time back in a couple of years apart from the sporadic visit. I am upgrading to SAP Dashoards 4.1 and currently running the SP5 trial.
    After trying a couple of templates to make sure all was ok, and it seemed to work fine, I first got a runtime error. Now I get the dreaded 3Cannot connect to Microsoft Excel...programme must close." error. I was running Dashboards standalone, as Admin. I don't seem to be able to get back in.
    I am finding it difficult to find my way around the forum format, but I did do a search and found a post that suggested Office 2013 was the issue (supposedly to be solved in SP5 but it obviously hasn't been) and it was best to downgrade Office. Surely there must be a more up to date answer.
    Would you please let me know what I should do? Or of course, point me in the direction of a prior post (I will get to grips with the way the forum displays and the search function, I promise).
    Thank you for your suggestions.
    Chris
    Windows 8.1 x64
    Excel 2013
    Dashboards 4.& SP5 Trial

    Hi Chris,
    Office 2013 is supported with Dashboards 4.1.
    Check if the issue is intermittent and if not then try below steps.
    Hi Petrut,
    Rename the strat page in folder Dashboards Installation dir\Program files\SAP BusinessObjects\Xcelsius 4.0\assets\startPage
    Also set value of
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer->NoRecentDocsHistory
    value to 0.
    Also uninstall microsoft office and install it once again.
    If it again fails then try below steps.
    1.Turn off the anti-virus and the firewall.
    2.Uninstall the Dashboards.
    3.Then take the backup of the registry.
    4.In the registry please go to hkeylocalmachine--->Software------>Wow6432node------>SAP BusinessObjects------>SuiteXI 4.0------>Xcelsius .Delete this Xcelsius folder
    5.Change the user account control settings to never notify in case when you are using Windows 7.
    6.Check in program files if there are any leftover installation folders for Xcelsius.If so delete them
    7.Run the setup by running it as administrator.
    8.Please use the key for the departmental edition of Dashboards.

  • SAP MII 14.0 SP5 Patch 11 - Error has occurred while processing data stream Dynamic Query role is not assigned to the Data Server

    Hello All,
    We are using a two tier architecture.
    Our Corp server calls the refinery server.
    Our CORP MII server uses user id abc_user to connect to the refinery data server.
    The user id abc_user has the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role.
    The data server also has the checkbox for allow dynamic query enabled.
    But we are still getting the following error
    Error has occurred while processing data stream
    Dynamic Query role is not assigned to the Data Server; Use query template
    Once we add the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role to the data server everything works fine. Is this feature by design ?
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Thanks Anushree !!
    I thought that just adding the role to the user and enabling the dynamic query checkbox on the data server should work.
    But we even needed to add the role to the data server.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

  • SSRS report through data subscription - Connect to 2 different SQL server DB for excel attachment in EMail Deliery

    I need to connect to 2 different SQL server without creating linked server for generating report. Is it possible in SSRS 2008 report service?

    Yes possible
    You would just required created two data sources which points to both your SQL Servers. And inside report you can create datasets based on each of these data sources to retrieve and display the data from them. In cases where you would require merging the
    data from both the systems you can use functions like Lookup, LookupSet etc. Reports created in SSRS can be rendered in a variety of formats like Excel, PDF, CSV etc

  • Excel SSAS Tabular error: An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source

    Hello there,
    I have an Excel report I created which works perfectly fine on my dev environment, but fails on my test environment when I try to do a data refresh.
    The key difference between both dev and test environments is that in dev, everything is installed in one server:
    SharePoint 2013
    SQL 2012: Database Instance, SSAS Instance, SSRS for SharePoint, SSAS POWERPIVOT instance (Powerpivot for SharePoint).
    In my test and production environments, the architecture is different:
    SQL DB Servers in High Availability (irrelevant for this report since it is connecting to the tabular model, just FYI)
    SQL SSAS Tabular server (contains a tabular model that processes data from the SQL DBs).
    2x SharePoint Application Servers (we installed both SSRS and PowerPivot for SharePoint on these servers)
    2x SharePoint FrontEnd Servers (contain the SSRS and PowerPivot add-ins).
    Now in dev, test and production, I can run PowerPivot reports that have been created in SharePoint without any issues. Those reports can access the SSAS Tabular model without any issues, and perform data refresh and OLAP functions (slicing, dicing, etc).
    The problem is with Excel reports (i.e. .xlsx files) uploaded to SharePoint. While I can open them, I am having a hard time performing a data refresh. The error I get is:
    "An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source [...]"
    I ran SQL Profiler on my SSAS Server where the Tabular instance is and I noticed that every time I try to perform a data refresh, I get the following entries:
    Every time I try to perform a data refresh, two entries under the user name ANONYMOUS LOGON.
    Since things work without any issues on my single-server dev environment, I tried running SQL Server Profiler there as well to see what I get.
    As you can see from the above, in the dev environment the query runs without any issues and the user name logged is in fact my username from the dev environment domain. I also have a separated user for the test domain, and another for the production domain.
    Now upon some preliminary investigation I believe this has something to do with the data connection settings in Excel and the usage (or no usage) of secure store. This is what I can vouch for so far:
    Library containing reports is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
    Library containing data connections is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
    The Data Provider referenced in the Excel report (MSOLAP.5) is configured as trusted in SharePoint Central Admin.
    In the Excel report, the Excel Services authentication settings is set as "use authenticated user's account". This wortks fine in the DEV environment.
    Concerning SecureStore, PowerPivot Configurator has configured it the PowerPivotUnnattendedAccount application ID in all the environments. There is
    NO configuration of an Application ID for Excel Services in any of the environments (Dev, test or production). Altough I reckon this is where the solution lies, I am not 100% sure as to why it fails in test and prod. But as I read what I am
    writing, I reckon this is because of the authentication "hops" through servers. Am I right in my assumption?
    Could someone please advise what am I doing wrong in this case? If it is the fact that I am missing an Secure Store entry for Excel Services, I am wondering if someone could advise me on how to set ip up? My confusion is around the "Target Application
    Type" setting.
    Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    P.

    Hi Rameshwar,
    PowerPivot workbooks contain embedded data connections. To support workbook interaction through slicers and filters, Excel Services must be configured to allow external data access through embedded connection information. External data access is required
    for retrieving PowerPivot data that is loaded on PowerPivot servers in the farm. Please refer to the steps below to solve this issue:
    In Central Administration, in Application Management, click Manage service applications.
    Click Excel Services Application.
    Click Trusted File Location.
    Click http:// or the location you want to configure.
    In External Data, in Allow External Data, click Trusted data connection libraries and embedded.
    Click OK.
    For more information, please see:
    Create a trusted location for PowerPivot sites in Central Administration:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee637428.aspx
    Another reason is Excel Services returns this error when you query PowerPivot data in an Excel workbook that is published to SharePoint, and the SharePoint environment does not have a PowerPivot for SharePoint server, or the SQL Server Analysis
    Services (PowerPivot) service is stopped. Please check this document:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff487858(v=sql.110).aspx
    Finally, here is a good article regarding how to troubleshoot PowerPivot data refresh for your reference. Please see:

  • How To Connect To Oracle 11g Database From Microsoft Excel

    Hi All,
    I have Windows7 64bit installed in my laptop.
    I have Microsoft Excel 2007 installed.
    I tried connecting to Oracle database ( This is not a local database).
    Navigation used:
    Data> From Other Sources > From Data Connection Wizard > Other/Advanced > Next > Microsoft OLE DB Provider For Oracle > OK
    Now I get a pop up to enter:
    username
    password
    server
    When I enter all the required details I get this error "ORA-06413 CONNECTION NOT OPEN"
    Is there no need to give PORT number?
    Thanks,
    Vishwamber Shetty

    Hi,
    Did you install oracle client on the machine? Can you do "tnsping <SID>"? Can you connect to DB using sqlplus ?
    Try using tnsname for server name.
    Connecting to Microsoft Data Sources Through ODBC Connection  This shows how to connect using ODBC connection. I think this would be more appropriate.

  • Excel Data Connection problem for posting Excel on SharePoint 2013

    Hi there,
          I tried to post an Excel file to a SharePoint 2013 site. The file has a column with VLOOKUP formula to look for data from another Excel file posted on the same site. However, once I open the file, it'll show the following message:
    "We can't connect to '[link to file on onedrive/sharepoint]'. Please make sure you're using the correct
    web address"
           I don't recognize the website on this error message and there is no data linked to it. If I click OK, it'll show the following error message:
    "Microsoft Excel cannot access the file '[link to file on onedrive/sharepoint]'. There are several possible reasons:
    - The file name or path does not exist
    - The file is being used by another program
    - The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook"
           I tried to create another Library and post the file but it still shows me the same error message. I urgently need to fix this error as the file is viewed by several directors. Can someone help??? Thanks a lot!!

    Currently, when a workbook that contains a Data Model is published to a library in Office 365, data refresh is unavailable.
    However, you can use a PowerShell script to configure a workaround.

  • Unable to connect to SharePoint list data from PowerPivot in Excel

    Hi,
    I have the PowerPivot excel add-in installed and I can connect successfully to SQL data.  I have two SharePoint farms - Farm 1 and Farm 2.
    I am able to connect PowerPivot to SharePoint lists in multiple web applications in Farm 1 by using the ListData.svc.
    e.g. https://farm1/_vti_bin/ListData.svc/Tasks
    In Farm 2 I am unable to connect to SharePoint data.  I have tried multiple web applications on Farm 2 and can't connect.  I receive the following error.  I am able to browse to the address in Internet Explorer and see a feed.
    Has anyone else had this error?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

    Hi Millard1,
    From your descripton, it seems you want to use SharePoint list as a data souce. If so, you should export the SharePoint as data feed in your SharePoint site, and then create a new PowerPivot table that contains the list. Here are some articles for your reference,
    please see:

  • 'Driver]Parameter missing' Error while trying to pass parameter to MS query & Return Data to Microsoft Excel

    I am trying to set up a parameter query using ODBC-Microsoft Query
    to BMC Remedy The ODBC connection is "AR System ODBC Data Source".
    I want to pass a parameter to modified date field and get all the remedy tickets for which the modified date is<= to the passed parameter date.
    So in MS query, SQL-
    the query looks like
     WHERE ("Trouble Ticket"."Create Date">={ts '2014-10-01 00:00:00'}) AND ("Trouble Ticket"."Modified-date"<=?)
    I am getting the data fetched from database in the MS query window, but unfortunately
    When I click File-Return Data to Microsoft Excel, its showing an error: Driver]Parameter missing
    I set the connection properties- parameter-Prompt for value using the following string.
    Please help

    Hi,
    Based on the error message, I recommend we try the suggestion: Replace all "..."  with [...]
    http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/error-parameter-query-odbc-remedy-bmc-software-com-t3232964.html
    Then, if you want to connect the Remedy's oracle database, please see the thread:
    http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1123112
    We may try the workaround: Write an Excel macro which connects to the database and fetch the data based on the SQL query.
    Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
    If you have further question about write macro, I recommend you post the question to the MSDN forum for Excel

    The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.
