Prompt value is not filtering

Hi,
I am working on OBIEE10g.
I have created 2 tables in presentation layer tab1,tab2 having some of the field names same.
I have created 2 reports for each table rep1 , rep2
I put filter as Is prompted in Rep2. I have kept column value navigation in rep1 to navigate to rep2.
But the values are not getting prompted or filtered out in rep2 when I click on rep1 values.
Could someone please help me on this.
Thanks,
Sivarama

Hi,
For values to get prompted in the second report you should have a common dimension column on which you are applying the navigation option then only the values will get filtered out.
For e.g. If I have Base_report(created on top of Fact1) and Target_Report (created ontop of Fact2) and I have one common dimension Dim (Say Time dimension).
Now, if in my first report I pull some column (say Year) and some metric column from FACT1. I have to put navigation on Year column and in my Target report this same column is used as is prompted.
In this scenario my target report will get filtered out on the year value select in the first report.
If you don't have any dimension column in common on which you want to apply for navigation use Go URL as alternate solution.
You can refer below link for the same.
http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/url_filter
Mark helpful/correct as applicable.
NOTE: Please try to put some details with some e.g. so that it become easy to understand the exact problem.

  • Dashboard prompt value is not passing into the report

    Hi,
I am using OBIEE 10g. The problem is in Oracle BI Answers
I have a prompt and its related report. In the prompt, in one of the column, I am using sql result. The sql query is a co-related sub query where i have used 2 tables. employee_data and employee_region. The reason for using sub-query is that there is no data_center column in the employee_data table. It has the records for all the data_center e.g USA, UK,IND,AUSTRALIA etc So, I used the sub query with condition which will give the result on a particular data center (here it is USA) and this sub query's output is input for the main query. And the prompts works fine and gives correct result
The sql query used for the column in the prompt (in Oracle BI Answers) as
SELECT EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME IN (SELECT EMPLOYEE_REGION.ENAME FROM EMPLOYEE WHERE EMPLOYEE_REGION.DATA_CENTER = 'USA')Now in the report, there are 2 coulmns. - EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME and EMPLOYEE_REGION.DATA_CENTER
I have used the main column EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME for filter as 'prompted'.
The problem is the value from the prompt is not passing from the prompt to the report, what I found. Because, instead of showing the result for 'USA' data_center, It also shows other data_center 's (UK,IND,AUSTRALIA) data.
How filter condition I should use for EMPLOYEE_DATA.ENAME column in the report so that the prompt value will pass to the report properly ?
    Thanks

    Hi Kuldip,
There are 2 ways of doing it.
    1. Nice and good: For the section where the report is put have a condition to display only if it returns rows. For details please refer to :
    http://bischool.wordpress.com/category/guided-navigation/
    2. The easy way: Add a "No Result" view to your report and add few spaces in the text.
Let me know if this helped.

  • OBIEE 11G prompt values are not applying

    Hi There,
I am using OBIEE11g, I have a dashboard which consist of a prompt.
In prompt I have filter condition on Start date and End date with default values, when I run the dashboard it gives me some ODBC error, it doesn't applly the default values.
But when I click apply button on the prompt, it gets executed for the default values.
    What should I do?
    Plz help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pushpesh Pallav

    Hey André Fumian,
    Did BEx query changed/modifications done??
Does the prompt variable condition is changed @BEx level ??
For all, what you did changes @BEx, will not automatically update the Universe.
To do the same job follow the suggested.
    1. Open Universe
    2. View == refresh Structure
    3. Now you can see Updated things and deleted objects (######)
    4. Say OK
    5. Save Universe
    6. Export it.
Now Open reports and see the LOV's showing up...
    Hope it solves the issue.
    Gracias...!!

  • Prompt constrain - prompt values are not refreshed after change in calendar

    Hello,
I have prompt with Date, OrgUnit and Employee field in OBIEE 10g.
Date - calendar component "date between"
    OrgUnit - multi-choice
    Employee - multi-choice
I have checked "Constrain" checkbox on Employee field, because I want to show only employees from selected OrgUnit and also I have checked constrain on Date field.
After first selection everything works fine. I select some dates (I have calendar component - date between), some OrgUnit and I can see list of employees constrained by selected OrgUnit and Dates
    - physical select is executed to get list of employees to multi-choice component
After that I change date interval, open employees multi-choice component but no physical query is executed and I will get back some cached result from previous request.
It seems that change in calendar component does not force refresh of data in other constrained components.
If I select some other OrgUnit, Employees are refreshed.
I tried to change component for Date from calendar to multi-choice. After some change of dates in multi-choice component. OrgUnit and also Employees are refreshed.
I also tried some different combinations of constrain checkboxes but with no success
So my question is: How can I force refresh (force execution of sql query) data in constrained fields after some change in calendar component?
    Thank you

In my case It doesn´t refresh after change in calendar component. It does refresh after change in multi-select promot, or dropdown component, but doesn't refresh after change in calednar component.
BI server cache is not enabled.
If I open employee multi-choice component for the first time, physical query is executed. I change date to some other, open employee component for second time and no query is executed and I will get old values from previous action...

  • Dashboard prompt calendar date not filtering results

I have a report with a date value. I custom formatted the date to MM/dd/yy and the report shows it correctly. I created a dashboard prompt with a calendar control and "is between" operator. However, the date never gets filtered. All values are shown. Do I have to change anything in the prompt because I custom formatted the date?
Ahh.. forgot to add "is prompted" to column filter

    Hi Subbu,
Thanks, but my question is a bit different.
I want to have 2 'Dashboard' Prompts:
    1) Country - The default value for which should be set to the logged in User's Country. Later the user can choose to select a different country.
    2) Calendar Year/Month - For this I want to limit the restrict the values that are displayed, i.e. they should start from 2010 / 01 and end at Current Month. So I need the variable that would work with this field.
I am unable to get solution for both of the above.

My Prompt Name is Fiscal Year (Single Value Entry, Required) and technical name is 0P_FYEAR, I have used both the name technical & Description to pass the Parameter, but could not success.
Can anyone tell me how I can resolve my problem?

    HI Stratos,
Thanks for another help. I got the log details and key for the parameter value.
I found below syntax for Parameter from SOFA.log file,
    <FILTER KEY="[0P_FYEAR]"><CONDITION OPERATORCONDITION="Equal"><CONSTANT TECH_NAME="[0FISCYEAR].[K42010]"/></CONDITION></FILTER>
and according to above syntax,  I have change my URL Link to

  • Dashboard prompt value not carried over to report in a Link on Dashboard

The Dashboard prompt value is not carried over to the report displayed as a link on the dashboard. The report has the 'Is Prompted' filter. It does not work in both cases:
    1. when the report in the shared folder is specified in the link.
    2. when the report in a different page on the same dashboard is specified in the link.
    Please help.

First change column data format to HTML.
    Then use following syntax:
    '<aa href = "http://server/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=%2Fshared%2FPortal%2Ffolder&Page=pagename&Action=Navigate&P0=3&P1=eq&P2=Tablename1.column1&P3=1+'|| cast(Tablename1.column1 as varchar(30)) ||'&P4=eq&P5=tablename2.column2&P6=1+'|| cast(Tablename2.column2 as varchar(30)) ||'&P7=eq&P8=tablename3.column3&P9=1+'|| cast(Tablename3.column3 as varchar(30)) ||'" TARGET="_blank"> <ffont color = #000099>'|| cast(Tablename1.column1 as varchar(30)) ||'</ffont></aa>'
change ffont to font and <aa to <a and </aa to </a

  • ,I want the dashboard date prompt value to be reflected in the date coloumn

I want the dashboard date prompt value to be reflected in the date coloumn(Whatever user selects from calendar) and all the filter should operate on this date.
    Can it be done??
The user entered date in the prompt should be shown as a coloumn in he report

Yes doing the same way,but the date coloumn is coming with a value 0.
The prompt value is not getting passed there.
For the date 1/2/1990; The query getting build is like this
    select distinct (1 / nullif( 2, 0)) / nullif( 1990, 0) as c1 from sawwith
And so I am getting 0.
    how to resolve this one?

  • Need WebI prompt values to reflect values in cube, not values in a LOV file

While building the prompts for my reports, the values that appear when refreshing my prompt are that which are in a LOV repository file.  These values do not reflect what is in the cube and may confuse a user.  I am wondering how to get a full list (possibly broken out into pages) of what is in my backend cube.  I have tried going into Universe Designer and unchecking "Associate a List of Values", but I am still receiving only a partial list.  Any input is appreciated.

    Hi,
Please anyone suggest me the solution on this. it's a quite urgent.

  • PROMPT WITH DEFAULT VALUES DOES NOT DISPLAY VALUES THE FIRST TIME

    Hi,
With one of our scorecard reports, when you select a division, the leader role/leader prompt picklist values do not get populated the first time. Because this is only happening in reports we have written in house, we do not see this happening to the reports that are installed as default.
Is there any workaround known for this error.
    Thanks and Regards

Hey can somebody please let me know how to go about this isssue ..

  • Business Rule err The following value is not valid for the run time prompt.

    Hyperion Planning v 9.3.3
I have created a new BR with 2 local variables (created at the time of the BR), Variables are set as run time prompts. They are created as "Member" (not Members). The BR basically does a calc dim on dense and Agg on Sparce other than the prompt on Entity and Version dimensions. The entity variable has a limit on level 0 of the dimension. The Version variable limits to the input (Submit and Sandboxes)
The BR is associated in Planning with an input web form. Entity and Version are in the page. Is set to Run on Save and Use members on form.
If the run time prompts Hide boxes are checked, an empty Prompt pops up with only a Submit button. Click the button and an error comes up: "The following value is not valid for the run time prompt it was entered for:. But it does not indicate what member - just ends in the :.
The BR will run sucessfully only if the Run-time prompt is not hidden - "Hide" in the BR is unchecked. So the syntax and logic of the BR is correct and security should not be an issue.
The client wants no prompt. In production we have similar situations in which the BR works with the Web Forms without a prompt.
What am I doing wrong - I have tried restarting the Planning service and the EAS service.

My preferred method of doing this is:
    1. In business rule, do not hide the run-time prompts. This makes it easy to validate the business rule as you are building it. I only use Global Variables.
    2. On the form, have business rule set to run on save, use members on data form and hide prompt.
Check that in the business rule, for the variables (Run-Time prompts), that they are all in use. If not, delete them from the business rule. Are all your variables global? Are some local and some global? This could be the issue.

  • Passing two values in a column prompt for display and filtering

    Hi All,
Is there a workaround to use two columns in a prompt for display and passing the input value for a prompt value in dashboard prompt? For eg we want to display the description in the prompt but pass the id to the filter value or presentation variable, just like we have in bi publisher,LOV automatically grab the two value for display and actual value to pass to the query. Therefore, user will click the description and corresponding id will be saved in presentation variable from the prompt .

  • Can we generate one report tab for each of the prompt values selected in the bobj 4.0 webi report.

can we generate one report tab which filters
with each prompt value selected in bobj 4.0 webi report.

    Hi Shrinidhi ,
It can be achievable with static tabs created for each LOV .But this is not recommended because , object values can change dynamically .
It is good idea to use section on prompt object in the report .With sections great feature available is in larger report it’s easy to navigate using map. It displays the section tree. You can select the particular LOV to navigate.

  • Data Selection for report based upon a 'Prompt Value'

I want to report information in my report based upon a 'user input prompt value'
    for example:
'Enter Shareholder Selection - A-Active, I-Inactive, B-Both Active and Inactive'
if the user enters 'A', the report selects only active shareholders
if the user enters 'I', the report selects only inactive shareholders
if the user enters 'B' the report selects all shareholders, active and inactive
the field in the database that this based upon is their total share value.
if this field is greater than zero (>0) they are considerd 'active'
if this field is equal to zero (=0) they are considered 'inactive'.
I have tried creating some type of filter,  but am not having any luck.
I saw a few examples within the forums that I have tried without any luck....unfortunately most of the examples I've seen are base one only two choices.
I'm sure I need to create some type of 'independant varible' but am not sure how to do that either.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Daryl,
I Tried this unsuccessfully in DESKI . We can't Eliminate Rows having Empty Measure Values or Measure with 0 as values using Table Level Filter as FIlter can't FIlter rows based on Prompt value selection dynamically. Filters filter rows at a time and not based on 3 condition as Active, Inactive and Both. thus filters are of no use.
I Tried this in WEBI, and it is working perfectly you donu2019t have to create any Object in Universe, you can do it using function UserResponse() at report level.
Hence if you are comfortable using WEBI for Generating this report then Follow the steps.
    1. Create Report With Name and Shares Object. It will display all Shareholder Names and No.of shares they hold.
    2. Use Status Object in Query filter, use condition as u201CEqual Tou201D and Select prompt. It  contains Active, Inactive and Both as values.
    3. Report will Display all Shareholder names and No. of  shares  like 45, 789, 0, 4562 where 0 is inactive Shareholder and all other are active shareholder.
    4. Create Variable using Formula.
    =If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Active" And [Shares]>0;[Shares];If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Inactive" And [Shares]<=0;[Shares];If(UserResponse("Enter Status:")="Both";[Shares])))
    5. Remove Shares Object from the report and Put Variable created with Names of Shareholders.
    6. Select Table-> Properties-> Display-> Uncheck the Option u201CShow Rows with Empty Measure Valuesu201D
    7. Report will display Value correctly as per your Prompt value selection.
    I Hope this Helpsu2026

  • Opening Dashboard Page in New Window While Passing Prompt Values

    Hi,
Currently it is not possible to open a dashboard page in a new window AND have the prompt values from a prior page pass to this page. I see one or the other can be accomplished but not both. Is there a way this can be acheived somehow or is there a workaround for this?

You are correct. The "Link or Image" object does not pass the dashboard prompt values, though it allows the destination dashboard to be opened up in a window.
    Here is a workaround.
    1) Place the link in a "Guided Nav. Link" object and set the destination dashboard and desired report. With the prompt set up correctly (i.e., dashboard scope, set to PV, destination report column filtered to receive the PV), the destination report will be filtered on the prompt as desired.
    2) I noticed (and maybe this is why you wish the "new window"), there is no "return" link on the destination report. To fix this, in the destination dashboard, add a Text object to the dashboard. In the properties, paste the code below and make sure to check off "Contains HTML markup." This will produce a "Return" button on the dashboard.
    <input type="button" value="Return" onclick="history.back();">
Now, when the user selects the prompt and clicks on the link, the prompt is passed to your second dashboard. When the user wishes to return, he/she can click on the "Return" button and return to the primary dashboard.
