Property Inspector and Image Maps

I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 on an Intel Mac Quad Core. On some
occasions, the legend information (i.e. Link, Target, and alt) next
to the text fields for the image map area does not display in the
property inspector. I am still able to enter text in the fields.
After clicking on another part of the document and then clicking
back on the image map the problem appears to correct itself.

So I tried to recover it from other backup projects (different project names but use the same Topic), but they are all also suddenly has changed to "Remote URLs". When I checked/opened the HTM file associated with the Topic in my local directory, it is correctly pointing to the correct popup file, "absence.htm". So the popup file has been detached from the link/broken link.
So the file is still there but Rh is not seeing it. Have you tried deleting the CPD file and reopening the project?
I did not know how this happened because the backup projects that I tried to use is completely located somewhere else and I just copied it onto my local drive.  Is this the Robohelp that is installed on my local PC or something else happened? I hope you can tell me how I can avoid from happening again, please, and how I can change it back to how it was originally set up before that will be a big help. How do I change it back to recover the backup project as well? Do I need to reinstall RH? I have no clue how this happened.
How are you copying to the backup location? Windows Copy, Zip file etc?
Is there any source control at play here?
It could be your installation but please respond to the above first.

  • Images and image maps do not respond to events on Safari

    Hello everyone,
    We have been experiencing issues with events not responding to images associated with image maps, on Safari browser. After the DOM is loaded with new image and corresponding image maps, events such as mouseover and click observing this divs do not respond or get triggered. DOM seems to be updated correctly but behaves differently (and it works correctly in all other browsers except Safari).
    This behaviour is only noticed in Safari browser running both on Windows and Mac. (Tested on Safari Version 3.1.1 on running on Windows and Mac)
    For you all to have a closer look at this issue, I have created a sample that has this problem, similar to one we experienced during one of our recent projects. Please click on the link below to get to the sample (I recommend you to try this either in Firefox or IE before you do on Safari)
    http://www.hivegroup.com/safari/test.html
    (In the above sample,
    - the javascript code initializes the DOM with image and image map
    - assigns two event listeners to the div containing this image and image map
    - when mouse pointer brought over the image, it shows the area id in the 'mobox' div
    - when clicked, DOM is updated with a new image and new corresponding image map, assigns new event listeners and should continue with the same kinda behaviour it did for the first image (but doesn't in Safari browser))
    All inputs on this issue are welcome and greatly appreciated.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Regards,
    Shashi.

    Let me explain what the pink area is. Like the first image that contains two white boxes, the pink area (as you call it) is a new image (containing four pink areas or boxes having an area id denoted to each) that imgDiv occupies after the 'click' event occurs.
    Yep, i gathered that from seeing it work on firefox...
    The point that I'm trying to make here is, there shouldn't be any difference in behaviour when imgDiv holds first image (two white boxes) or the second image (four pink boxes) that you get after we click on image or the third image (containing 6 boxes, multiple colors) which you won't be able to reach in safari browser.
    well... I can reach them, but only via the blue space.
    . We'll notice change in the red box displaying target id only when we mouse over a new area that is not currently being displayed in the red box.
    except in webkit for safari 2, where thered bpx content sticks at whatever it was when the first image was clicked, unless mouse is moved to the 'all area', and then it sticks on imgdiv.
    I completely understand what you see in safari 2. But are you saying there's some error in my script ? If so could you please point out and justify.
    I dunno Shashi, just pointing out the errors that Safari 2 reports when I view your test page, in the hope it might help. I know little of javascript

  • Spry XML and image map

    Hi all-
    I'm new to using spry and xml, but not new to xhtml and layout, having said that. I'm trying to store file paths in my xml and parse that xml to repace <href> tags in an image map. For example (the actual cooridnates in the map are just made up for the example below, the actual map has 88 locations and very detailed coordinates, as it is a state map):
    <head>
    <script src="../SpryAssets/xpath.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../SpryAssets/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    var ds1 = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("../files/research/counties_census.xml", "ohio");
    </head>
    <body>
    <div spry:region="ds1">
    <img src="../images/CountyMap.gif" width="565" height="611" usemap="#Map">
            <map id="Map" name="Map">
              <area shape="rect" coords="103,156,155,202" href="../files/research/{Location}" />
              <area shape="rect" coords="216,156,286,210" href="../files/research/{OtherLocation}" />
            </map>
    </div>
    </body>
    Am I just making a syntax error or is this just outside the scope of what I can use spry for? Any help is appreciated.
    thanks in advance

    I have one more question. What you gave me worked like a charm btw. Thanks a lot. Onto the question:
    I'd like to use the same XML to also power a drop down menu, here's a snippet of the XML/XHTML below. I can't seem to get it to work on the drop down, the image map works great.

  • Image Swap and Image Map

    Hello,
    I am going through some very rudimentary steps of setting up
    site.
    I have an index page with four simple areas I wish to turn
    into hotspots- I created them as slices in Fireworks then as Image
    Swap rollovers in DW. Now, when I try to apply a hotspot/image map
    to the rollover area, I can get it to link to the appropriate page,
    but it seems to have disabled the rollover/image swap attribute.
    How do I keep both properties enabled? Any suggestions are
    appreciated.

    Can you post a link to the page, please?

  • How do I load property files and images stored in the jar file?

    Hi
    So, if I have a structure like this:
    /com.myfirm.myproject.SomeClass
    /images/
    /properties/
    And I pack this structure into a jar file, how do I then access the images under "/images/" and the property files under "/properties/"? A link to a good tutorial on this would be perfect, or a description/hint/howto :)

    Im having problems even loading direcly from the directory..? I have this structure:
    src (source dir)
    classes (classes dir)
    lang/textRb_en_US.properties (the file I want to load)
    Then I have this code:
    Locale currentLocale = new Locale("en", "US");
    ResourceBundle textRb = ResourceBundle.getBundle("/lang/textRb", currentLocale);But it gives me a "java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name /lang/textRb, locale en_US". I start my application from within Eclipse, and I have tried to move "lang/textRb_en_US.properties" into the classes dir, but same error.
    Im confused as to there Java looks for ressources, and I need this to work no matter where I put my classes/jar. Could you help me out here?

    Hi Alexander,
    If u are using the jspdynpages ,,then navigate from one jsp to other thru the controller..
    Its always best practice to change the jsp state in controller
    for instnace ,,u can change ur code this way nd try:
    Use an image Button using HTMLB
    for instance
    <htmlb:button id = "myButton14"
    text =
    "<img src='/sap/public/bsp/sap/public/bc/icons/s_s_okay.gif' border='0'>OK "
    onClick = "myButtonClick"
    encode = "FALSE" />
    Now in ur controller
    looks like this
    public static final int PAGE1 = 0;
    public static final int PAGE2 = 1;
    int PAGE_STATUS = PAGE1 ;
    public void doProcessBeforeOutput() throws PageException {
    switch (PAGE_STATUS) {
    case PAGE1  :
    this.setJspName("page1.jsp");
    break;
    case PAGE2  :
    this.setJspName("page2.jsp");
    break;
    public void onMyButtonClick(Event event) throws PageException {
    try {
    PAGE_STATUS = PAGE2;
    } catch (Exception e) {
    PAGE_STATUS = ERROR_PAGE;
    Cheers

  • Hspace gone from Property Inspector

    DW is pretty new for me; I've probably done this to myself somehow.
    I'm following a lesson in a book and it shows an image selected and asks me to click in the Hspace box in Property Inspector and add 40 px. This makes perfect sense to me. I did exactly this a few weeks ago when we were learning how to insert images. Today Property Inspector doesn't seem to have an Hspace box. Or a Vspace box. Property Inspector seems to as well be missing a Border box, maybe an Align box under it (picture in book is very small), and some buttons to the right of Border (crop, brightness & contrast, sharpen) seem to have moved to the upper half of Property Inspector. Other parts of Property Inspector seem to be there. Map, Target, and Original show. I understand how to close the bottom half of Property Inspector, and I'm sure I have both halves open, because I can see (e.g.) both Src and Original at the same time. I also am sure I have an image selected (because I can see the name of the jpg file in the Src box).
    I've been working around this by setting Hspace and Vspace directly in the code, which is okay, but it bothers me that a piece of the program just wandered off sometime when I wasn't looking.
    I'm using DW CS6, version 12.0, build 5808, but I was seeing this exact same problem in CS5 (not sure of the exact version number; I was running it--badly--through Citrix).
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Ken Benson

    HSpace and VSpace were deprecated with the CS6 release.  They were in DW up to CS5.5.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/07/dw-cs6-img-tag-attributes-deprecated.html
    You should be using CSS margin instead:

  • Can't create image map

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to create a simple image map in Dreamweaver and haven't been able to make it work. Full disclosure, I only used the program for the first time today and have little web design background. I tried following this tutorial: Dreamweaver Help | Image maps but it didn't help unfortunately.
    When I select the image in the document window, I don't see any of the hot spot creator buttons. When I select the code for the image in the code window, they appear, but I cannot select them to create the hotspots. I assume there is something very basic that I'm not doing, but it wasn't explained in the tutorial.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Switch to Design View.   You can't edit image maps in Live View.

    In KM, image maps are used for a graphical depiction of folder contents. These objects are displayed using graphics instead of in their normal text form.
    Step 1 – Determine the image you want to use for navigating. This can be any JPG or GIF file. In this example I will reference the file world.gif.
    Step 2 – Configuring an image map. Take your image file world.gif and place it in the system. For our example place the file in the path: …../knowledgemanagement/etc/public/graphics. The subdirectory “graphics” was created within the public folder.
    Step 3 – In the documents folder, create the following folders:
    •  World
         Within the “World” folder, create the subfolders:
         North America
         South America
         Europe
         Asia
    Note: you can create as many folders as you like. This structure will serve as the navigation structure for world.gif image map.
    Step 4 – Determine the navigation coordinates for the image world.gif. Any tool can be used, for this example the tool GeoHTML was used. It is a freeware tool that can be downloaded from http://www.fegi.ru/geohtml.
    •  The following coordinates were determined for the folders:
         North America: 253, 255, 303, 285
         South America: 424, 171, 474,201
         Europe: 368, 43, 418, 73
         Asia: 276, 37, 326, 67
    Step 5 – Create new link-sensitive Areas for the image map. Menu path: Configuration -> Content Management -> User Interface -> Image Maps -> Areas
    Please note, an area would need to be defined for each area on the image map that would be link-sensitive areas.
    Step 6 – Defining an Image Map. In this step the name of the image map will be defined as well as specifying the path of the image, the tooltip, and lastly assigning the areas.
    Step 7 – Configure an Object Type Handling (OTH) file for the image map. OTH files are located in the /oth subdirectory within the /etc repository. Copy an existing OTH file in this subdirectory and copy it to “world.oth”. In This OTH file, define the navigation path, collection renderer, layout controller, action and image map. The OTH file should look as follows:
      <?xml version="1.0"?>
      <ObjectTypeHandler Name="Image Map world"
    Class="com.sapportals.wcm.service.objecttypehandler.GenericObjectTypeHandler">
    <SelectionCriteria>
      <Paths>
        <Path>/documents/World</Path>
      </Paths>
    </SelectionCriteria>
    <Properties>
      <Property Key="rndCollectionRenderer"              Value="ImageMapRenderer"/>
      <Property Key="LayoutController"                   Value="DefaultLayoutController"/>
      <Property Key="rndShowActions"                      Value="false"/>
      <Property Key="rndMap"                      Value="MapOfWorld"/>
    </Properties>
    <Actions/>
    </ObjectTypeHandler>
    Step 8 – Display the image map. For the navigation iView that is being used, ensure that the iView property “Layout Set Mode” is set to default.
    Step 9 – Reload the object type handler in order for the system to read the new oth file world.oth. This can be done by within the Rendering Information link in any navigation iView for a user that is specified in the Debugging Settings (this is done in the user interface configuration).
    Another option to reloading the object type handler would be restarting the J2EE engine.
    Step 10 – In the navigation iView for this mage map, navigate to the image map. In this example, the menu path would be documents/World
    Patricio.
    ps: If you want I can send you complete example.

  • Font change in property inspector

    Good day all
    I would like to change the font used in Dreamweaver MX's
    windows, such as the property inspector. For example when a layout
    table is selected the font used in the property inspector to
    indicate width, height, cell pad, cell space etc appears pixelated
    making it difficult to read, for a beginner like me. I have tried
    altering the PC's screen resolution but it makes no difference and
    It is only the floating windows, such as the property inspector and
    objects window, that the problem shows itself- the rest of the
    Dreamweaver window, such as the menus, appear ok.
    Does anybody know how to change it???
    Many thanks in advance
    Chris

    > So if the body of my div called content is 10pt by
    default
    One should never use points on the web. Points are intended
    for use on
    printed output, not on pixel based screens.
    > but I want to change one line to 14pt, i would
    > highlight the line and then click the new css rule
    button and then create
    > a
    > class called 14pt?
    It depends very much on precisely what you mean in the above.
    I will assume
    that when you say 'one line' you mean 'one paragraph'. to do
    that, you
    would create a rule like this -
    #content p.special { font-size:16px; }
    and then apply the 'special' class to the paragraph in
    question by selecting
    it with the tag selector, right clicking to get the context
    menu, and using
    "Set class to -> special".
    Or, you could click in the paragraph tag in question and use
    the 'Style'
    selector on the Property inspector to select "special".
    If, instead, you meant one line within a paragraph, then you
    would have to
    select that text, and surround it with a span tag (using
    Ctrl-t). Apply the
    'special' class to the span tag, and adjust your rule like
    this -
    #content span.special { font-size:16px; }

  • CS4 Property Inspector - Restore defaults?

    I seem to have putzed up my property inspector, and I'm not sure how I did it.  See attached:
    I have no idea what I did to make this happen, but my rectangle tool (which I use heavily) no longer affords me access to the "roundness" set of options.  I've tried dragging the property inspector out of its spot, docking it elsewhere, I reset my user defaults for all of Fireworks, no luck.  I can't for the life of me figure out what happened to it or how to reset it.  Yes, I can work around it using the actual "rounded rectangle" shape rather than the rectangle tool, but that's beside the point.
    If anyone has any idea what I've done to screw this up, and how to correct it, I'd be very grateful.  I'm at a loss.

    Yes it is a group.  This "grouping" is what makes the corner radius feature possible.
    If you try for example to use the subselection tool to edit the corner points, you are prompted by Fireworks to ungroup the rectangle. If you are not prompted to ungroup the rectangle it means it's already been ungrouped, intentionally or otherwise.

  • The Property Inspector is missing the V Space and H Space fields in DW6 - where did they go?

    I just downloaded DW6.  The Property Inspector is missing the V Space and H Space fields, therefore I am unable to add space around my images.  Suggestions?

    It is no longer available because the problem with that was that it applied spaces around the image rather than where the user actually wanted them.  You now need to use CSS and apply margins and paddings and target exactly where you want them by using something like this:
    img {
        margin-bottom: 0;
        margin-right: 0;
        margin-left: 0;
        margin-top: 0;
        padding-top: 0;
        padding-right: 0;
        padding-bottom: 0;
        padding-left: 0;
    img {
         border: 0;
         padding: 0;
    The second style is generic to set margin and padding for all four sides.
    Good luck.

  • Select an Image? Proportional Resize in the Property Inspector?

    I'm working in Dreamweaver CS 4 on a Mac. My problem is that I want to resize a jpeg while keeping it's proportions but I can't select it (so that the resize handles appear). When I click on it, I end up selecting the div it's wrapped in (or a div further out in the code). I can select it in the code, but the resize handles still don't appear - just the info in the property inspector shows. So I have two questions:
    1. Is there a keyboard shortcut that helps you "drill down" to select the item you're looking for - like in some print layout programs where you can hit a few buttons while clicking on it with the mouse and it keeps giving you lower and lower objects?
    2. Is there a way to change size in the property inspector where the proportions remain constant?
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Max

    That's a cool trick - only specifying the width - thanks!
    (Eventuallly, I would resize the image in PS so it would not require the browswer to do resizing for me).
    In answer to your question, pziecina, no - it's not a background image.
    One of the images has a z-index specified because I thought that might help, but it didn't.

    MHR was asked to fix a “spongy” area of the floor by the bathtub in a tenant-occupied, rental apartment.
        <p>Once opened, it became clear that the spongyness was a symptom of structural damage done during installation of original plumbing. Sections of load bearing joists had been removed to make room for plumbing, leaving the floor system with critical structural deficiencies.
          Sponginess was caused by the separation in the toilet waste flange during flushing. </p>
        <p> Structure had to be reengineered but replacing the floor joists entirely would have been prohibitively expensive and time consuming. Instead, MHR shouldered the broken part of floor from the apartment beneath and then added posts in the basement which carried the load all the way down to the basement concrete slab. <strong>This re-enginneared design provided a level of structural integrity that exceeded building code requirements and was far less expensive than any alternative approach.</strong></p>

  • How to use the same image map over and over

    Sorry, I posted this a couple of years ago and got a good answer by Murray. I'm so rusty with it, I can understand how it works anymore.
    Question:
    I have a large jpeg image map for a hundred pages. The jpegs are all the same except I changed the city name for each one.
    So for each corresponding htm page, the 4-5 links out are the same.
    Waht is the trick to not have to create by hand hotspots? thanks.
    I have previous notes, but I don't understand anymore, (too rusty) what they mean:
    The good news is that you really don't need a template at all.
    Just open one of your existing pages in DW, select that central image, browse to select the correct replacement image, and save the page with a new name.  It will have all of the image maps already there, from the original image.  One and done as they say."
    My old interpretation of this:
    select the large jpeg and then in link field drag over to the new city jpeg

    Ok, Nancy, code copy/ paste did work fine.
    what does this mean:
    "Change the image in the properties panel to display your new image."
    (the image is displaying ok)
    NEverthesless, I think I got Murrays old notes.
    Here is my new version of Murrays writing, easiest way I think:
    You open up a pre-existing html, say Chicago. Then drag over with pointer to the new jpeg you want (Buffalo). It replaces Chicago with the buffalo jpeg, all links work perfectly. Then do a save as called Buffalo.

  • Image mapping and Master Detail Regions in CS3

    Excellent advice to leave a url. I think I am having a similar problem with conceptualizing datasets for utilization with image mapping. I obviously cannot use the Get Schema via the Attach New Data set icon because I have rendered my own Master region. I am working with CS3. I will launch the site and ask for help from the url.
    Here is:
    http://www.atmfoods.net16.net/
    I need help with this. With the phasing out of tabulated layouts for div based layouts I run into quite a few snags attempting to work around deprecation of tags issues. What am I trying to do here:
    1. Get my spry menu to drop down in the child table and not the parent table aligned top left.
    2. Use image mapping of the thumbnail images in integration with datasets and spry Master/Detail regions, even if hand coded to achieve, for a larger image and data on each thumbnail on an accordion spry widget. I am thinking grid systems for the future of my works and hope to achieve some relative command of grid systems. Without gridlock.

    Hi,
    The dataset name in the NestedDataSet constructor does not go
    in quotes.
    Try var dsCreds = new Spry.Data.NestedXMLDataSet(dsAgents,
    "credentials/cred");
    and see if that helps.
