Property not Writable on type exception

I found another post about this problem but the reply was
Sorry, I have solved the problem.
I am using JBoss 4.2.1.GA, Facelets and jboss-seam-CVS.2007-09-17_01-34-40. I am trying to do this.
     <h:form>
          <h:panelGrid id="lpg_01" binding="#{conceptManager.letterPanelGrid}"/>
     </h:form>
Here is the Java code that is in the conceptManager Bean.
     private HtmlPanelGrid letterPanelGrid;
     public HtmlPanelGrid getLetterPanelGrid()
          System.out.println("************ getLetterPanelGrid");
          FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
          Application application = facesContext.getApplication();
//          letterPanelGrid = new HtmlPanelGrid();
          letterPanelGrid = (HtmlPanelGrid)application.createComponent
                                        (HtmlPanelGrid.COMPONENT_TYPE);
          letterPanelGrid.setId("lpg_01");
          List<UIComponent> children = letterPanelGrid.getChildren();
          letterPanelGrid.setColumns(1);
          HtmlCommandLink link = new HtmlCommandLink();
//          String s = new String("#{conceptManager.testMethod}");
          String s = new String("homePage");
          MethodExpression me = application.getExpressionFactory().
                    createMethodExpression(facesContext.getELContext(), s,
                    null, new Class<?>[0]);
          link.setActionExpression( me );
          link.setId("linkId");
          HtmlOutputText output = new HtmlOutputText();
          output.setValue(new String("ClickMe"));
          link.getChildren().add(output);
          children.add(link);
          return letterPanelGrid;
When the page is initially displayed everything seems to work fine. I looked at the html in the browser and it looks correct. The problem occurs when I click on the command link. During the Restore View Phase JSF tries to perform the binding again but gives the following problem. I got lost trying to follow the Variable Resolver code, too much abstractness. I haven't given up looking at it but I think I need some help with this.

I did have this setter but failed to show it with my example. Hopefully this is all I need for the setter.
I still received the same error;

    help me i am really stuck at this point

    The error means what it says: you are trying to read or write
    a value to a non-existing destination.
    Debug this to find out which line is erroring, and thus which
    reference is null.

  • ADF Customization (Fusion Apps) - Property not found exception

    All
    Trying to customize a Fusion Apps application(essentially ADF) where in a popup has to be inserted into an existing page and displayed on UI on a Submit button click.
    I have bound the popup to a backing bean property 'Sp1' so that the popup can be invoked programmatically from an action listener method. Note: Show popup behavior is not an option due to some of the business requirements.
    When the page renders, it throws the exception 'Sp1' property not found in the backing bean class. Although the Submit button is able invoke the action listener method without an issue.
    Not sure why the property is not found to the page when it is able to invoke other methods in the class. Any pointers?
    Here are the steps followed:
    1. Opened JDev in Fusion Apps Dev role > Created a ViewController project > Created a java bean A, manually added a RichPopup property Sp1, added an action listener method 'submitForApproval'
    2. Created an Adf jar and deployed > Placed the jar under WEB-INF/lib directory under the EAR/WAR on the server and redeployed so that the jar becomes available to the Fusion App
    3. Created another app which is a FA Customization App and a project under it
    4. Now re-opened JDev in Fusion Apps Customization role > and opened up the FA Customization App
    5. Customized the Fusion Apps page to associate the 'submitForApproval' bean action listener method to the existing Submit button on the page
    6. Customized the page to insert a popup with Id='Sp1', marked the property contentDelivery=lazyUncached
    7. Customized the corresponding taskflow to add the managed bean entry for the new bean
    When I apply the customization MAR on the APP and run the page on the server, I see 'property Sp1 not found in the bean class' exception on the page.
    However, when I click on Submit button anyway I see that the contents of the method are executed. So, I believe the page is definitely finding the class but not this property.
    Verified that Sp1 property is of type RichPopup and has accessors in the bean.
    Any pointers would be much useful.
    Thanks
    Niranjan

    Since we donot use FusionApps , it will be hard to comment on this . Please post this on the internal ADF Frontend Forum @ myforums.oracle.com

  • Property 'loginAction' not found on type ...

    Long story short, I have a backing bean with an action called loginAction. Everything worked fine, but now I'm in the process of converting it to a maven project. For some reason, EL doesn't try to resolve it as a method any more, it tries to resolve it as a property. If I change the name of the method to getLoginAction(), it works. Anyone have a clue as to why? I've been going at this for a while and am at a loss.

  • T:div throws Component property class is not writable

    I'm using the Tomahawk div-tag including the rendered attribute to check if the wrapped components should be rendered. An exception is thrown indicating the component property is not writable. In other words, I think it means there's no public set-method. However, there is. I'm also using the same rendered expression in t:inputText / t:outputText element/s where it does work.
    What's so specific with the t:div?
    Also I wonder why there's a set-method needed as I don't use it..
    please help,
    thanks,
    dave

    If it says 'component property class is not writable' maybe it is talking about the component property 'class'? not 'rendered'.

  • Disabling button gives property not found exception

    I am trying to disable a button in jsp using disabled property of the button. But I am getting property not found exception.
    Here is the code.
    In JSP

            else
                return false;
        } I hope it is some silly mistake!

    What happens when you use boolean instead of Boolean as return type?

    Hi Paul,
    I also had the same error on one of my servers, and it was because the user that created the database no longer worked for the company.
    So when his AD account got deleted, the database had NULL as owner
    Using the following query I asked for the owners of the databases:
    select name, suser_sname(sid) from master.dbo.sysdatabases
    So changing the owner of the databases that had a NULL owner solved the issue for me.
    use <databasesname>
    go
    exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'
    Thanks for triggering the solution.

  • WhatsApp Java IO Exception Connection not Writable

    Hi All,
    I recently have had a flurry of problems with my Pearl that I dug out of the grave as I have to migrate to BBM and this is all I could find.
    The last remaining issue is that WhatsApp is giving me a message that there is a Java Unexpected Error "Connection Not Writable".  I have a BB Data Plan with ATT and everything works, except WhatsApp.  I read online that if I choose my network manually instead of automatic then I can solve this problem.  However, when I go to Options --> Network --> I just show that my Data Services are On and my provider is AT&T, no mention anywhere about manual or automatic network selection.
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Thank you in advance.

    I was able to fix the problem by completely wiping the handheld and then installing whatsapp.  Not sure what was wrong.  I dumped my BB anyways as I got fed up with other apps not working.  BB better evolve soon or they are going to get eaten up!  Hope this helps.

  • "Cannot get parameter type" exception in logs

    Hello, Everyone!
    I am trying to migrate my old Birt reports to a new runtime version (and new designing capabilities as well). These exceptions probably refer to dataset (query) parameters rather than to report parameters because of their numbers and total amount.
    The first exception "Cannot set preparedStatement null" seems to be thrown for all parameters that are initially nulls. The second exception "Cannot get parameter type" seems to be thrown for all parameters (twice for some).
    The second one probably has something to do with this bug: https:\//bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=384925 Although it is declared to be fixed in an earlier Birt runtime version (4.2.1) and I'm using a later one (4.4.2).
    The first one gets critical if I change the Oracle jdbc driver to the new and the most appropriate one (ojdbc7.jar), which should be a better choice because I have Java 7. Older driver ojdbc6.jar renders the report but writes the exception to the logfile, the newer one produces the following in browser:
    - org.eclipse.birt.report.engine.api.EngineException: Error happened while running the report.
    AxisFault

    The exceptions raise even in such a simple case. Of course it doesn't take minutes to show, but concerning my report with several datasets taking more than 200 parameters in total, the response time drastically raised from about 30-40 seconds up to 3 minutes.
    So I need help!

    Hello,
    Were you able to solve this problem and how?
    Thanks

    I forgot to include this.

  • How can I use a COM object that does not have a type library?

    Hello,
    I've created a com server in python for which I do not have a type library. I am able to call functions for this application in Python, TCL, I'm sure VB, etc. without the type library.
    Must I have a type library registered to use this COM object with Labview? I was hoping I could simply supply the name to the refnum (or the GUID) then call functions by passings strings to the invoke node. This does not seem to be possible - am I missing something?
    In the event that I cannot use a com server without a type library. Any recommendataions on how to create one? I'm wondering if I can use the same GUID and create a shell in LabWindows which generates the IDL/TBD file I need for Labview to see my
    com server.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Yes that is true. LabVIEW needs that to configure the Property and
    Methode Nodes correctly. Otherwise it would need to have a special
    Property and Method Node with a configuration dialog similar to the Call
    Library Node, but a LOT more complicated. Not sure many people could
    make use of that, and it would be a very tiring experience trying to get
    things setup in that way, by going through the edit, test, and crash
    cycle over and over again.

  • "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

    I am using the latest version of Photoshop CC. When I attempt to open a recent .psd file listed in the Open Recent list, I get the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." I can use the open command to open these files with no problem. The files are not damaged or missing the .psd extension and open normally except when using the Open Recent menu. OS is Mac 10.8.5. Thanks for any clues as to a fix.

    As weid as it may sound: simply don't use "Open recent...". Use Bridge to manage, find and start them in PS.

  • Javax.print problem: data not of declared type

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to print a simple text-only document with the below code but it keeps giving me an illegal argument exception. By the way, I've tried all the combinations of DocFlavor.*.* and SERVICE_FORMATTED.PRINTABLE and SERVICE_FORMATTED.PAGEABLE are the only ones working for me. Is this normal?
    Thanks!

    Hi duffymo,
    I've tried all the available DocFlavors and even wrote a little program to list all my supported DocFlavors. And, I've only got 2 available for each of my printers, one being a Canon i320 and the other is a Adobe PDF printer.

    import javax.print.attribute.*;

        for (int j = 0; j < ps.length; j++) {
          DocFlavor df[] = ps[j].getSupportedDocFlavors();
          for (int i = 0; i < df.length; i++)

  • Composite key field is not a simple type or enum

    According to the docs here - http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/je/java/index.html?com/sleepycat/persist/model/PrimaryKey.html - you can use "A composite key class containing one or more simple type or enum fields" as a key field. When we try that we get "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Composite key field is not a simple type or enum: Result$Key.recordId". Am I misreading the docs?
    Thanks,

    Hi Trevor,
    You're nesting one key class inside another. All fields of a key class must be simple types or enums, which is what the exception message is trying to say. If you want all those fields in your key class, you'll have to include them in a single flattened class.
    Neither nesting of key classes nor inheritance of key classes is supported. We have enhancements filed to support these in the future, but no concrete plans.
