Protect fact table in BI with S_TABU_DIS

Hello all,
I want to restrict access for particular DSO/Cube tables (fact table) via RSA1, LISTCUBE, SE16 or SM30, searched for a solution and found this thread: <u>Using Wildcard characters in tables in S_TABU_DIS</u> but it did not solve my problem.
As far as I am informed cube tables are generated automatically when a cube definition is transported from development to production system (as written in the above mentionned thread: they get generated on the fly). Though it is possible to assign a specific authorization group to these tables and to create roles with restricted access for object S_TABU_DIS these authorization groups have to be assigned to these tables on each system (that means development on production!).
What happens if a cube must be changed and transported again?
I guess these manual tasks are gone then and one has to redo the assignment to the authorization groups.
Are there any other things that might be affected of this handling?
Thanks in advance for your inputs,
Petra

Petra,
Did you find a way to address this issue?  We are trying to figure out how to secure table access without having to add table auth groups to hundreds of tables.

Janice

  • Content Tab: None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request

    Hi All,
**One thing I am not clear yet of all my years with OBIEE is working with the content tab in BMM.**
I have made a rpd the joins in physical layer as shown below:
    https://picasaweb.google.com/114804305606242416264/OBIEEError#5663056545119428530
    And the BMM layer as:
    https://picasaweb.google.com/114804305606242416264/OBIEEError#5663056519553812930
Error I am getting when i run a request from the 3 columns from the selected 3 tables is:
    Dim - Comment Code Details
    Fact - Complaint
    Dim - Service Details
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 14020] None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request Sr Num:[DAggr(Fact - Complaint.Sr Num by [ Dim - Service Details.Sr Cat Type Cd, Dim - Comment Code Details.Cmtcode name] )]. (HY000).
I get no error for consistency.. I read everywhere and I know i need to set the appropriate aggregation levels in the various dims and facts LTS properties to help OBIEE understanding our model, but how to do that.. how do i decide... how should I approach, what should be the aggregation level, what details.
When i click More button i see different options: Copy, Copy From, Get Levels, Check Level, what do these mean.
Aggregation Content, group by - Logical Level or Column which one should i choose and how should I decide.
Can anyone explain the Content Tab in details and from scratch with some example and why we get these errors.... I know many people who are well versed with many other things related to RPD but this. A little efforts of explaining from you guys will really be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dev

    Hi Deepak,
    Option 1:
My tables in physical layer are joined as below:
    D1--> F1 <--D2--> F2 <--D3
Same way i model it in BMM
    D1--> F1 <-- D2--> F2 <--D3
Here D1 is non Conformed Dimension for F2 and D3 is non Conformed dim for F1. Later create Dimensional hierarchies, I tried setting up the content levels
    I go Sources>content tab of Fact F1 I set
    Dimensions----------- Logical level
    D1---------------------- D1 Detail
    D2---------------------- D2 Detail
    D3---------------------- D3 Total
then, I go Sources>content tab of Fact F2 I set
    Dimensions----------- Logical level
    D1---------------------- D1 Total
    D2---------------------- D2 Detail
    D3---------------------- D3 Detail
Then, I also go in all the dimensions and set their content levels to Details, but it still gives me errors not sure where I am going wrong in setting the content levels.
I need to know whether the way I have modeled it in BMM is right,
    Option 2:
I can combine the two facts in a single Logical Fact or the above design should also work.
(F1&F2)<--D1, D2 , D3 joined separately using complex logical joins.
what will be the content tab details?
    Thanks,
    Dev

  • Essbase answers - None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request "member"

    Hi,
I have modelled an Essbase database into the repository.
If I pull the measure, period and year dimension in and filter on the year (member) and display the year (member) along with the period (alias) and measure it errors with =>
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. However, all other things being equal if I change the year displayed to the alias then it works.
    Anyone tell me why??
Is there a limitation that Essbase brings through that you cannot view what you filter on?

Back up your repository before following these steps:
1 Reduce the problem report to minimum number of columns required to generate the error. This will usually identify which dimension and which fact are incompatible.
2 Open the repository in the Administration tool and verify that the dimension and fact table join at the physical layer of the repository
3 Verify that there is a complex join between the dimension and the fact in the business layer.
4 Check the logical table sources for the fact table. At least one of them must have the Content tab set to a level in the hierarchy that represents the problem dimension. This is usually the detailed level.
5 Check the logical table source Content tab for the dimension table. Unless there is a valid reason, this should be set to blank.
    6. Save any changes to the repository.

  • "None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request " error

I've got a situation where I have two facts(Fact_1, Fact_2) and three dimensions(dim_1,dim_2,dim_3) in 1 subject area. I've got dimension hierarchies setup for all the dimension tables.
Dim_1 is one to many to Fact_1
Dim_2 is one to many to Fact_2
Dim_3 is one to many to both Fact_1 and Fact_2
I've set up the content levels for the LTS for the Facts so that they are the lowest grain for dimensions they join to and the grand total grain for dimensions they do not join to.
My rpd is consistent. When I run a report using an attribute from Dim_3 and Dim_1 or Dim_3 and Dim_2, the report comes back fine.
But if I try to run a report using all three Dim tables, I get an error and the message "None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request ".
First of all, is it possible to make a report using all three dimensions?
Second, what's the best way to trouble shoot this error? Why are none of the fact tables compatible? I thought as long as the aggregation levels were set to grand total for non-shared dimensions, Answers would be able to create the report properly.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -Joe

OBIEE is looking for a fact that can link ALL the dimensions together. This is also known as the implicit fact ... you don't have a fact that can relate all the dimensions - you have 2 facts that together they can. Perhaps you need to great a single logical fact that has both LTS for your physical facts and try it that way.
Then you'd have Dim1, Dim 2, Dim3 all being able to join to Fact1 (which is made of physical facts 1 & 2).

  • Fact table is joining with Other table having values for measures

I have one Fact table named Fact1 where i am going to create some calculation measures based on the values in Table2.
How should be the physical join between them and the logical join.
Earlier we had those VALUES in Fact1 only
Why we created table Table2 is there was bit confusion for the aggregation in Fact1.
We are bit confused on whether to make Table2 as dimension or Fact as it is having some measures and not having the foreign keys
How we have to proceed now..!! Please help us!!?

  • "None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request"

    Hi guys,
I have a weird issue. Previously fine working Subject area started to give this error after migration. The issue is happening when I select a column from dimension and try to display it. Also, I can't get to the list of values in filter I get "Error retrieving choices" error. One dimension is working fine though, and when a column from it is selected, it displays other column just fine. I checked physical layer, primary keys, mappings in the BMM, LTS sources, Connection Pool settings. Everything looks legit. For few hours it was working fine, and now it's giving this issue. Anyone knows what the cause could be. The search I've conducted revealed that this is a data mapping issue - however, all my layers seem to be in check. Thanks

    hi user582149,
It is difficult to answer you question with such a little amount of details. Could you specify:
    - how many facts/dimensions are you using in the query?
    - what is the structure of your Business Model?
    - which version of OBI are you using?
    - what does your log say?
I hope to tell you more having the information above
    Cheers

  • Fact Table with a metric repeated in several rows

    Hi!!
I've got a little problem and I don't know how to face it.
I'm using OBIEE and I've got this case:
    One fact table like this:
    Order_Number - Q.Received - Supplier - Invoice_Number - Q.Inv.
    1 - 10 - S1 - I1 - 2
    1 - 10 - S1 - I2 - 8
    2 - 10 - S1 - I3 - 10
So, for an order Number, I can have more than one Invoice Number, but the quantity Received is always 10, because is a metric refered to the Orden, not to de Invoice, but this quantity (10) I find it in two rows, not in one row. It's like having two fact tables mixed (invoices and orders).
    My problem is:
If in the logical field Q.Received I don't aggregate de column, when in Answers I try to know the Quantity of units received by supplier S1, the report says 10, that is incorrect. It should be 20.
If in the logical field Q.Received I aggregate de column, when in Answers I try to know the Quantity of units received by supplier S1, the report says 30, that is incorrect too.
I've tried to separate it in two fact tables by views like this:
    Fact1: Orders
    Order_Number - Q.Received - Supplier
    1 - 10 - S1
    2 - 10 - S1
    Fact2: Invoices
    Order_Number - Invoice_Number - Q.Inv.
    1 - I1 - 2
    1 - I2 - 8
    2 - I3 - 10
...and I've created a dimension with Order_Number, but the report:
    Order_Number - Q.Received - Q.Inv.
    ...doesn't work.
-If I try without jerarquies, OBIEE goes only to the first one and if I select a field from Fact2 says that there isn't a mapping for this field.
-If I try with jerarquies for the only dimension I have, with a grand total level and a child level, selecting the lowest level for all tables, error is: "None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request "
Can anybody help me? I'm having nightmares with this issue.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi,
Okay. I assume you have the 2 facts:
    Fact1: Orders
    Order_Number - Q.Received - Supplier
    1 - 10 - S1
    2 - 10 - S1
    Fact2: Invoices
    Order_Number - Invoice_Number - Q.Inv.
    1 - I1 - 2
    1 - I2 - 8
    2 - I3 - 10
create a business model with the following logical tables:
    Order Dim,
    QTY Received,
    QTY Invoiced
drag/drop Order_number from Fact1 to the logical table Order Dim (this will create a logical column Order_number).
drag/drop Order_number from Fact2 to the logical COLUMN Order_number. (This will give you a second Logical Table Soruce with 1 logical table column.)
drag/drop Q.Received from Fact1 to logical table QTY Received
drag/drop Q.Inv. from Fact2 to logical table QTY Invoiced
Assign key to LT Order Dim
    and draw Business Model Diagram.
This should give you the possibility to report the quantity received and invoiced per order number

  • NQSError: 14020  : Fact Table Incompatible with Query Request

    Hi All,
I am trying to add a new join to existing fact and dimension tables.
These tables are already part of some star schemas.
Now when I add the join , RPD doesn't show any consistency errors/warnings but when I create an analysis in OBIEE 11g, Measure from fact shows only null.
When I looked at the log, the physical query just has a select statement querying the dimension table and following message :
"COUNT converted to NULL because [nQSError: 14020] None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request COUNT:[DAggr(CF_FACT1.COUNT by [ CD_DATE_4.DATE_KEY.. "
Has anyone encountered similar problem ?
Few threads spoke about settign the content level but its not set for any date dimension we are using but it still works. Facing this problem only for the new join I am trying to add now.
    Thanks for any pointers

  • Modelling 2 Fact Tables with Non-Conforming Dimension in OBIEE 11g

    Hi all,
I have two fact tables (Fact 1 and Fact 2) and two dimension tables (Product and Rule). The Product dimension table is a conforming dimension and is used in both fact tables, but the Rule dimension is a non-conforming dimension which is used only one fact table. I'm using OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6.0).
    ====
    Fact 1
    ====
Sales ID | Product ID | Quantity | Sales Description | Sales Status
    S001 | P001 | 100 | bla bla bla bla bla | N
    S001 | P002 | 200 | bla bla bla bla bla | N
    S002 | P001 | 200 | lab lab lab lab lab | Y
    S002 | P003 | 250 | lab lab lab lab lab | Y
    Notes for Fact 1:
    - One Sales ID can have multiple Product IDs
    - Sales Description and Sales Status are the same for one Sales ID (repeating Sales Description and Sales Status for the same Sales ID)
    ====
    Fact 2
    ====
Sales ID | Product ID | Rule ID | Score
    S001 | P001 | R001 | 2
    S001 | P001 | R002 | 3
    S001 | P002 | R003 | 1
    S002 | P001 | R003 | 1
    S002 | P003 | R002 | 2
    S002 | P003 | R004 | 5
    Notes for Fact 2:
    - One combination of Sales ID and Product ID can have multiple Rule ID
I'm wondering how best to model these tables so that I can create this report (number of the dimension and fact tables created in the business model, level mapping, aggregation rule, etc)? Any suggestion/advice on how to achieve this?
Sales ID | Product ID | Quantity | Sales Description | Sales Status | Rule ID | Score
    S001 | P001 | 100 | bla bla bla bla bla | N | R001 | 2
    S001 | P001 | 100 | bla bla bla bla bla | N | R002 | 3
    S001 | P002 | 200 | bla bla bla bla bla | N | R003 | 1
    S002 | P001 | 200 | lab lab lab lab lab | Y | R003 | 1
    S002 | P003 | 250 | lab lab lab lab lab | Y | R002 | 2
    S002 | P003 | 250 | lab lab lab lab lab | Y | R004 | 5
    Thank you very much!

Hi Dhar, thanks for the suggestions.
I tested what you suggested, but the result is not as per my expectation mentioned above. Here's what I did:
    1. In physical layer:
    - I joined Fact 1 table with Product dimension table only
    - I joined Fact 2 table with Product and Rule dimension tables
    2. In business model layer:
    - I created 3 logical tables: Fact, Product, and Rule
    - The Product table contains the Product ID and Product Name from the Product dimension table in the physical layer
    - I created the hierarchy (logical dimension) for Product with only ProductTotal level (as the grand total level) and ProductDetail level that contains Product ID and Product Name
    - The Rule table contains the Rule ID and Rule Name from the Rule dimension table in the physical layer
    - I created the hierarchy (logical dimension) for Rule with only RuleTotal level (as the grand total level) and RuleDetail level that contains Rule ID and Rule Name
    - The Fact table contains 2 logical tables sources: Fact 1 (which logical level in the Content tab is mapped to ProductDetail and RuleTotal) and Fact 2 (which logical level in the Content tab is mapped to ProductDetail and RuleDetail)
    - The Fact table contains Sales ID logical column (mapped to both Fact 1 and Fact 2 logical table sources)
    - The Fact table also contains Sales Description and Sales Status logical columns (mapped to only Fact 1), which aggregation rule is the default to None
    - The Fact table also contains Quantity logical column (mapped to only Fact 1), which aggregation rule is set to Sum
    - The Fact table also contains Score logical column (mapped to only Fact 2), which aggregation rule is set to Sum
OBIEE returns the expected result when I retrieve the report:
Sales ID | Product ID | Quantity | Sales Description | Sales Status
However, OBIEE returns an error when I retrieve the reports:
Sales ID | Product ID | Quantity | Sales Description | Sales Status | Rule ID
    or
Sales ID | Product ID | Quantity | Sales Description | Sales Status | Rule ID | Score
    The error is:
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 14020] None of the fact tables are compatible with the query request FACT.SALES_STATUS. (HY000)
And the Score column is blank when I retrieved this report:
Sales ID | Product ID | Quantity | Sales Description | Sales Status | Score
Any suggestion anyone? Please help. Thanks a lot!

  • Fact table  with different  granularity

I have a fact table , the measure with different granualrity , for example, there are a fact table named project, and in the project , there are some columns measure like project value, Opportunity value, (one opporuntity have many project). so I have to sum the project value and Opportuntity value
by month, how to sum opportuntity value? (I want to sum the value distinct Opportuntity ). anyone have suggetion. thanks in advance.

The purist answer is that you should NEVER have a fact table with multiple levels of granularity - it's asking for trouble. Better solution is to split off a new fact table at the proper level of granularity. Having said that, I've worked with BI Apps before so I understand the pain you're going through. In the long run though we found it better to add new fact tables and track the data at the proper levels. Less confusing (long run) than trying to kludge round data to fit in a square fact table.

  • Reg: Fact table and Dimension table in Data Warehousing -

    Hi Experts,
I'm not exactly getting the difference between the criteria which decide how to create a Fact table and Dimension table.
    This link http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9362854/database-fact-table-and-dimension-table states :
Fact table contains data that can be aggregate.
Measures are aggregated data expressions (e. Sum of costs, Count of calls, ...)
Dimension contains data that is use to generate groups and filters.
This's fine but how does one decide which columns to consider for Fact table and which columns for Dimension table?
    Any help is much appreciated.
Pardon me if this's not the correct place for this question. My first question in the new forum.
    Thanks and Regards,

Columns of a fact table will often be 'scalar' attributes of the 'fact' data item. A dimension table will often be 'compound' attributes of a 'fact'.
Consider employee information. The EMPLOYEE table can be a fact table. It might have scalar attribute columns such as: DATE_HIRED, STATUS, EMPLOYEE_ID, and so on.
Other related information that can't be specified as a single attribute value would often be stored in a 'dimension' table: ADDRESS, PHONE_NUMBER.
Each address requires several columns to define it: ADDRESS1, ADDRESS2, CITY, STATE, ZIP, COUNTRY. And an employee might have several addresses: WORK_ADDRESS, HOME_ADDRESS. That address info would be stored in a 'dimension' table and only the primary key value of the address record would be stored in the EMPLOYEE 'fact' table.
Same with PHONE_NUMBER. Several columns are required to define a phone number and each employee might have several of them. The dimension tables are used to help 'normalize' the data in the employee 'fact' table.
And that EMPLOYEE table might also be a DIMENSION table for other FACT tables. A DEVELOPER table might have an EMPLOYEE_ID column with a value that points to a 'dimension' row in the EMPLOYEE dimension table.

    Hi Everybody,
Facing a issue on the using  Fact less Fact tables.
    Scenario:
    ========
Using two subject areas to develop a report.OBIEE 11g
Fact1 --> Compensation Plan Assignments Real Time
    Fact2 --> Participant Detail Real Time"."Participant Details
On both facts we created dummy metrics on respective table id's and aggregated to ROWCOUNT.
As i said in earlier we are using the above 2 subject areas to develop reports.
    Logical SQL:

    SELECT
    0 s_0, "Incentive Compensation - Compensation Plan Assignments Real Time"."Role"."Role Name" s_1,
"Incentive Compensation - Participant Detail Real Time"."Participant Details"."Cost Center" s_2,
"Incentive Compensation - Participant Detail Real Time"."Participant Details"."Country Code" s_3,
"Incentive Compensation - Participant Detail Real Time"."Participant"."Participant First Name" s_4,
"Incentive Compensation - Participant Detail Real Time"."Participant"."Participant Last Name" s_5,
"Incentive Compensation - Participant Detail Real Time"."Participant"."Party Number" s_6
